A9 model number? (Unlocked U.S. version) - HTC One A9

Can anyone enlighten me on the model number for the unlocked U.S. version of the A9? I searched and found "2PQ9120", but ebay, etc. seems to quantify that as being the AT&T variant. Is it the international version I need? ...I was under the impression int. versions of phones are a bad idea for U.S. use since the frequencies for high speed data don't match up. Thanks.

You can go right to HTC's website and buy the unlocked one there, the one HTC has for sale on there website is the unlocked edition

I want to know the model number so that I don't have to buy it from HTC. Much cheaper elsewhere. Thanks though. :good:

I bought mine directly from HTC and they gave me a carrier locked version and have been dealing with trying to get it resolved since June 2016 it is now December and it is still not resolved I am not sure what to do. They sent me Model number 2PQ93. I was able to get the DSL removed and now only have voice service and no data.

Mine is USA unlocked model, 2PQ9120 (the name model is the same that AT&T variant).

Will an AT&T Lumia 1020 work in Germany?

A friend of mine is flying over beginning of August and would be able to bring back a phone for me, does anyone know if the AT&T Lumia 1020 will work in Europe? Or does it have any drawbacks?
AT&T branded phones will be SIM-locked and won't work on other networks. You'll need to get it SIM-unlocked. It may be possible to do this when buying from AT&T, but if you can get it elsewhere I would do so. Expansys (online) is a great supplier of SIM-unlocked international phones...
was hoping to get it earlier
Too bad navifirmn is down or I could have flashed a Europe ROM to it...
But good to know the HW is the same!
thanks!

I just use the CareSuite External mod for NCS. I downloaded my ffu from Data Package Manager 2012.18.0 (the latest requires a login.) If someone starts posting the product codes for it then it should be easy to get. The product codes can be swapped between other 1020s, but the different versions are limited to single product codes. I'm still trying to piece this whole ffu swapping thing together on my tutorial.
At least with the Lumia 920 the US variant was a different hardware model than the EU variant (RM-820 vs RM-821). You could not simply flash the other one. With respects to supported bands the 1020 should work in european 2G and 3G networks but LTE bands likely won't be compatible.
I dont see a reason why your phone cant work. Yes it will work as long as you unlock it.
already solved, got an EU model
FYI, according to Nokia Hotline the guarantee for US models doesn't count in EU, phone would need to send it in to USA for repair.

Carrier unlocked when ordered from Samsung?

Will the s8 plus be carrier unlocked if I order it from Samsung? I don't really want to be trapped to one carrier.

They make you select a carrier before checkout. The carrier unlocked version will be released in a month.
Just pick Verizon and it will be unlocked for sure day one
Ok cool that's what I was wondering. I know it's that way with my iPhone 7 I didn't know if it'd be the same for android
The simple way is to order from B&H... It's the unlocked international model SM-955F.... $840 + local tax
While that would be nice I'll be using the Samsung financing
I have ordered form very.co.uk (catalogue company) fully unlocked no carrier selection needed

But are we sure that the hardware is the same for all US models and it is as simple as flashing the appropriate firmware to get them working on other carriers?
Also, if you buy the Verizon model, it will never work on Sprint since Sprint won't whitelist it.

If you are on Sprint and you buy any other model but Sprint's model, it will not work on Sprint because Sprint won't whitelist it.
If you buy Verizon's model, it will be unlocked out of the box and if it is like the S7/7E, you can flash the GSM carrier's firmware to it and use it on the GSM carriers. But it will never work on Sprint for the reasons I stated.

It's not the same at all. With the iPhone 7, it has the firmware to run on all 4 networks. That has never been true of the Samsung androids. They only have the firmware to run on the particular carrier they are branded for.
Although the Verizon S7/7E is SIM unlocked, it won't work properly on the GSM carriers without flashing the firmware for the GSM carriers. We won't know whether you can do that for the S8/8+ until they are released. However, the Verizon model will never work on Sprint because Sprint will not whitelist the Verizon model. In contrast, Sprint will whitelist the Verizon iPhones since they have the firmware to run on all 4 carriers.
It's totally different with iPhones than with Androids.
Thanks for.clearing.everything up. I have verizon so I will be getting a verizon phone. Just wasnt sure if I would be able to switch carriers in the future

when is it going to available though??
can i buy an unlock phone in the USA and bring it back to canada and run it on a telus netwrk?

S7 with CDMA support for both sprint and verizon and gsm for att, tmob, internationa

So i currently have as sprint s4 that unlocked thanks to xda. i actually have att sim in right now and working fine although only getting HSPA+. haven't got time to try to do the upgrade to LTE for gsm also yet
But thinking of getting a replacement. Is there some sort of unlocked S7 ver that would allow for use on all 4 US networks as well as international? can i purchase that somewhere or i can only get a network sold ver and try to unlock? Thanks.
You can grey import or buy official unlocked S7 int. model (G930F or G930FD) with ease. I don't think I've actually seen a locked international version, at least not on the sites I look at.
Just be careful you don't end up buying a fake (avoid ebay). I got mine from eGlobal. Many locked US variants like the G930V get reflashed to G930F firmware and have the text on the back changed so you can't tell unless you go into download mode.
From what I've seen around here, they work in the US just fine and being the international model work in the rest of the world. You might just need to flash the appropriate CSC/modem for whatever carrier you're using at the time.
I thought international models would only have gsm support?

Any visible difference between Verizon and Google Pixel models?

I'm looking at used Pixels on Ebay. Many of the descriptions do not specify whether it's a Verizon phone or not. Is there any external identifiers on the Verizon version that would show up in the pictures? Also, if a Verizon version is used on a GSM network, does that mean it would not get any software updates?
If you can see it in the pictures Verizon phones have a different model or sku number
I can answer the OTA question. Yes it will still get all the updates every month, no matter what carrier you're on. Updates are provided directly by Google.

Ask the seller if the bootloader is unlockable.
Seller confirmed they are Verizon phones but as long as updates come from Google and I can get them when using an ATT MVNO, that doesn't bother me.

Question SM-908U/DS Bootloader Unlock?

Hi, is it possible to root or unlock the bootloader for this model?
I bought it without realizing the U.S. models have issues with rooting, totally my fault.
If not, can anyone confirm which models CAN unlock bootloader? I can't find a list for this anywhere.
I live in China, can the Chinese models unlock bootloader? I bought this U.S. model since they have Google already and have the same 4g and 5g bands as in China.
US model cannot be unlocked... I'm pretty sure every other model can be unlocked

This would explain why the U.S. model here is so cheap, only 730 USD for a new one with 500 gigs of storage, which is 25% cheaper then the Chinese model that includes dual sim-cards.
