Hi. I installed cm security app on my oneplus one. I loved a few images to the vault. However, I deleted the app by mistake. I have a backup of the cm security folder with the images I'd hidden. When I reinstalled the app and copied the contents of the old folder, the images in the vault don't show up. Is there a way to restore my back up in cm security again? I need those images back. The file is with me. However it is encrypted in cm security format. Anyway I can retrieve those images in the vault again? Please help

I have an Samsung Galaxy S2 running Android 2.33. I put on Google+ app and that was a mistake. It created a folder in my gallery called Instant Upload [with 70 pictures]. I would really like to delete the folder but I am not able and I don't know where the folder is kept. I tried searching with windows explorer and couldn't find the pictures or where the folder is on my phone. I went to Google+ site on my pc and erased the pictures there but still can't erase on my phone. Please help.
Even i also have the same problem, i am not able to delete instant upload folder as well as profile photos folder too from my SGS2 mobile. I tried to delete all the apps and cleared all the memory from my SD card. The problem is i can delete both the folders but again when i open my gallery it ll show the deleted files again. So please help.

hi builder,
finally i found the solution for this, it sounds wired but it ll work 100%.
just follow the following steps, and before doing this i recommend u to take backup of all the data from your phone.
settings>privacy>factory data reset>check (format usb storage)>reset phone.
hope this will help you.

Thanks. It worked but it was a major pain. Google should have made it easier to get rid of. It is like using a bomb to get rid of a fly.
Sorry if this is the wrong section for this question, as its really out of place, and I fear the pictures are just forever gone.
When I installed Android 5.1.1, my phone created a new "0" sub directory, and so I had to move everything into a new directory. My pictures from KeepSafe will now not show up. When I open the app it doesn't show anything. I tried deleting and installing the app again and backing up the colder, deleting it, and restoring the backup. Anyone know a way to get the pictures back?
The old KeepSafe you could just use a file explorer and change the extension and see the image but it has a new encryption now.
The pics that were in the app were family vacation pictures, in case you're wondering, and they were cluttering my gallery so I decided to move them to the app and I was gonna move them out later. Now they are not showing up.
Keep safe
1). Clear data of keepsafe
2). Install lucky patcher
3). Open the menu of patches for keepsafe
4). Remove license verification lunch app you are ready to go
Important : first do it ......
You have to copy your old file of keep safe ,find in SD card / folder name .keep / copy and replace it it with new .keep folder , which is created by keepsafe
It worked for me ,I hope it will for you too
Guys quick question - my cousin mistakenly deleted the WhatsApp Images folder from my phone (I checked via usb, folder is still there, though only Sent images). The WhatsApp Images folder itself is missing from the Gallery app.
Anyone know how I can recover the WhatsApp Images folder or all the images that were deleted.

Hi guys! I have an Xperia Z3 D6633 running on official Android version 6.0.1 with build number 23.5.a.1.291 rooted. My problem is that almost 5.0 GB of my internal storage is consumed by ".thumbnails" folder which I want to delete. I have searched some solutions and found out that normally people get some free space till these files reappear and in the mean time they can make this space useful but the case is different here. I have tried to delete this folder and all the containing files but even though the folder disappears for some time, I still don't get any free space even for a short time and the files start to reappear after some time. I don't have any Gallery other than the Album app and as it cannot be deleted, I have tried disabling but the problem still remains. I have also tried creating a new folder with the same name but the system would rename it to ".thumbnails 1" and another folder with the name ".thumbnails" would reappear . I had the same problem also with Lollipop on this device. I use FILE KOMMANDER, it is the system app.
Any help is highly appreciated.
Try MiXplorer from XDA (file commander isnt so good) then delete the .thumbs folder
Try Ccleaner from play store
Try SD Maid from play store
Try clearing data from Settings - apps - Media Storage (all your media will appear to be gone. It is still there but the phone wont see it until you reboot / download and run Media.re.scan from play store)
I wouldn't really know what else to suggest other than a clean install of your ROM even if it is stock as this seems like a bug

thumbnails folder store preview for all of your photos that you see on your gallery app (taken w camera or from whatsapp), if you want a smaller folder, transfer some pics to your pc or go cloud with google photos

FYI .thumbnails folder will always exist to make android media work properly, easiest method is delete those folder (.thumbnails) then create file named .thumbnails
In my case I'm using es file explorer, best file manager ever for me
You should accept all consequences, app that using photo preview from Android Media will not show or buggy (ie. Instagram, Facebook)

i tried that already(with es file explorer)and nothing happend and the 5 GB sill occupied!!
Scenario:
Fresh restore app from backup
Start app - if i don't touch anything app start normally
Fresh restored app from backup
Copy file from /data/data/XXX/files/my_file somewhere out (other directory)
Copy the same file back (overwrite original, files are binary same, same hash, just copy it back...)
App start with errors!
I checked permissions same as before... Compare files, hash, same as at the beginning ...
What is it? some "tamper" protection, security?
Redmi Note 9 Pro, Android 10, Security patch level 2021-04-01, MUI 12.0.5 Stable, Rooted, Magisk
Copying is not a good idea, because the application probably has its odex file. If you changed something in the apk file, the crash is obvious.
It's not APK file, its database (sqlite) ...
and i don't change anything, just copy file out, same file without changes copy back (overwrite original)
First i think about some CRC checks.. but problem persist if i copy the same file (same timestamp, same permission, same CRC)
Application somehow knows that i touch that file. But app it's not running, no child processes..
Sorry, I didn't pay attention that it didn't apply to apk. A database can be used by a service, not necessarily an application.
Try doing the same thing in TWRP.
So the correct answer to this problem was "SE Context" (SELinux)
