So, i received my OnePlus 6 about 2 days ago and so far i´m loving it!
One thing i miss from my old Lg G4 (and maybe all other Androids) is having a dedicated slider in the volume control for notification levels.
Anyone else agree with this?
It's also common to have a check box to make it follow ringtone volume so that leaves the option to disable it when wanted.
I use Ringer & Notification Volume Unlink Module in xposed. You'll need root to use the xposed framework.
And another one i just noticed,
When casting from a nearby device to Mibox i get the usual notification saying a device is casting but i cannot control it's volume.
That too should be included in the expandable volume controls (it is on other versions of android)

Thank you but so far i don't see any reason to root this phone, i heard the Oxygen team are quite attentive with incorporating user feedback into their updates, and as i'm asking for something which is common and already exists on other versions of Android i think it should be included.
So far that's the first reason to root and it's not yet enough for me to start tinkering with it.
Hi, I'm looking for a suggestion on a ROM to replace my current one.
I've used Superman after trying all the roms available about a year or so ago. Now it's EOL and I need an Oreo rom. I've spent the better part of two days installing a bunch and setting them up and finding issues. I have a handful of features that I really would prefer to have, and can't find anything that lines up. I don't think they're over the top features, just can't find them together.
Here's what I put together for what I'm looking for:
Musts:
Stable
Magisk, or can flash Magisk with MoRo Kernel
Dialer has "places" tab to search nearby things
Most Samsung apps removed, no upday, no skype
Removed brightness and volume warnings
Fingerprint unlock on first boot - can't find a flashable mod for this
Network up/down speed on status bar
Call recording
Status bar/Tiles/System UI/etc work with Galaxy Themes
Can install http://tekhd.com/detonator/ T-Mobile CSC for Wifi Calling and VoLTE
Would prefer but can probably find alternatives:
Has reboot to recovery in boot menu.
Long press back button to end - https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=flar2.homebutton
would be nice if it were built in, but can work around
Dual speakers - could just flash: https://forum.xda-developers.com/s7-edge/themes/mod-dual-speaker-sound-mod-v4-0-oreo-8-0-t3787782
Ok without but nice to have:
Mobile data confirmations were also removed.
Selectable boot menu choices
Fingerprint from always on for unlocking when screen off
- is it really a battery drain? Superman had it and my battery was ok.
Swipe from right to pull down tiles
Only reason I want to stick with TW is the camera quality. Wish that didn't teather me to it.
Could anyone please suggest ROM's that have most of those things? Or alternative ways to get them that doesn't involve disassembling?
Thank you

Been using BlackPearl for a while now with no problems
https://forum.xda-developers.com/s7-edge/development/blackpearls9-smooth-fastv1-0-t3760189
Recently tried that one. The Detonator TMobile CSC didn't work, I think maybe because it's a S9 port, so no VoLTE/WifiCall/places dialer. I saw the BlackkPearl N8, but that doesn't have many features. HyperRom was close, but the OneUI breaks all theamability.
Currently testing Deluxe Rom, seems to have all that and more. Though stability might be precarious based on its thread. About to root with Magisk via the MoroKernel 5.0 installer. *crosses fingers*
Also, the Deluxe Rom AC/DC boot animation + sound is the most gaudy boot animation I've ever seen, lol. Fortunately it's optional.
Got all the things installed on Deluxe Rom, so far so good. I sure hope the battery life is ok and it's still stable tomorrow.
Between xposed modules and magisk modules, most of your list could probably be completed on any ROM. I'm still on Superman Nougat, and I'd say I have more mods from xposed modules than what the ROM offered.
So my device is now rooted and running magisk + xposed. I haven't installed many modules yet, just viper4androidFX, VOLTE, and gravity box. I also switched my launcher back to my good old comfortable sense 9 launcher. Works almost perfect, I am getting HTC service pack FC every so often, but I can live with that for now if it lets me use the launcher I want.
Anyway, there are a couple tweaks I'd like to make that I had on my old phone, but I can't use the same sense based xposed modules so I was wondering if anyone knew of any xposed or magisk modules, or some other method to achieve these mods on the ROG.
1. change Icon shape/size as by default, the top of the circle shape gets cut off on the homescreen. Changing size under display settings fixes this, but then I find some things TOO small
2. Make status bar always opaque black with white icons
3. change battery icon (I have a pack I want to install in PNG format) - I've done the systemui.apk method in lollipop, can anyone tell me if this is the only currently working method?
After this the only thing I want to do is fix the force close and take a nanodroid backup in twrp (when its officially available for .48 or later fw)
Thanks in advance!
Regarding point one the only thing I can think of is using Nova launcher. Here you can change the size of the icons on the homescreen, their style aswell as their labels.
The only easy way I know of to change the battery icon is with Gravitybox.
Which options did you activate in Gravitybox?
If I try modding the statusbar or navbar I'm getting a ton of force closes from SystemUI or the screen stays black after a reboot. Which I suppose is a compatibility error given that this isn't exactly AOSP.

Well I fixed the icons getting cut off by setting a custom dpi thats sort of in between small and default. Looks okay I guess, not a huge fan of the circle icon but at least its not cut off.
in gravitybox I changed these settings:
power button torch
torch timeout set to 30 mins
increase volume steps
increased AM/PM scaling to 75%
changed 4g to LTE
allow all rotations
some settings would cause the same black screen you mentioned, in which case I would reboot to safe mode, clear the app data, reboot and try new settings until it worked. I'm not sure which setting exactly causes this but most of them still do work. I am able to change the battery icon in gravitybox also, but I don't really love what they have so I left it off. Maybe if they allowed percent only, or if you could change the font and position of "battery text". Theirs is too bold for me and not in the right spot.
Its too bad no one else seems to want a static status bar. Always black looks so nice IMO and no modules that support past lollipop offer such a thing :/
Were you able to make much improvement in the sound quality with Viper? From what I've read and heard, the speakers are loud but lacking quality.
What is your impression of the cameras? Any interest in trying gCam?
Not sure who your carrier is but does the VoLTE module work for you? Literally the only thing preventing me from using my phone as a daily driver is VoLTE and WiFi calling (no cell signal at work unfortunately). But would like some feedback before I go down this path myself.

Haven't tested it yet, but the module itself installs and causes no problems of its own. I'll definitely let you know next time I get a call!
(PS Im on Bell in Ontario which from my understanding does support VoLTE, not sure if thats for all LTE bands but the ROG has 4/6 lte bands that bell offers.)
Even if it turns out its not working right now doesn't mean someone wont figure out how to force enable at some point. And there are a handful of modules that are working so I expect there will be more over time.

The speakers by default IMO are pretty good quality as long as you don't set it to outdoor mode. (for reference my PC speakers are 8" studio monitors) There was some muddiness somewhere between the 125hz and 250hz band, and a bit of harshness around 4khz so I bumped them down a few db in viper and it sounds a bit clearer and smoother.
The phone comes with "audiowizard" which at least gives you a treble/bass slider and a 6 band eq so I'm just using viper to fine tune the speakers and BT audio.
Cameras are actually pretty good. I'm coming from a HTC One m7 so maybe I just dont know what I'm talking about but I thought the quality was good. Someone here posted about video being noisy in low light, which it kinda is, but if you use pro mode you can change "S" which I assume is shutter speed or something which when set right looks much much better.(and a little darker) Still way better than the m7. I can post some examples if you'd like.
I tried gcam but I dont think it was using any ai processing because the images came out worse. maybe it was an older apk. I was more focused trying to get sense weather clock widget working haha
Thanks for the reply.
Which gCam did you try? There is a moribund thread discussing gCam for ROG here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/rog-phone/themes/google-camera-rog-phone-t3858294.

I have never heard the word moribund before...
Yea I saw that thread, I tried the one linked up top. I read through the other posts but didn't bother going through that big unsorted list linked lower down. If someone wants to point me to the correct apk to download I would test it out.

Hi bro can you teach me how to root my Rog phone please
Sorry but may I ask how you got viper to work at all?
I install it via magisk and do the activate/reboot as usual but after opening viper and checking the status, I see it says abnormal which means it's not working.
Any ideas or help to get this working for me and maybe others with the same problem?
Thanks.

Yea make sure you have busybox installed, and selinux permissive before installing viper. I used "the selinux switch" from the play store. Let me know if that works. TBH I think its selinux that prevents it from running correctly.
If that doesn't work, you can also try audio mod library in magisk, i installed that in case the the asus eq app would conflict with viper. And also so I can stack that + ViperFX + Xhifi haha
BTW still on FW .48 from november, never bothered to update...

Thanks, i had busybox already as a magisk module installed, as well as the audio mod library, so really the only thing i did'nt try was the selinux switch, so i install it & set that to permissive then got viper to work from magisk.
Thanks heaps for that info . :good:

Have you looked at this thread: https://forum.xda-developers.com/rog-phone/how-to/guide-root-t3865490 ?
The steps are quite straightforward & has worked for me.
Reply back if something isn't clear or if you're stuck on a particular step & someone can surely help you out.
I've been searching for a solution to this for a couple of years now. I'm currently running a rooted stock Marshmallow S7 and still haven't figured out how to increase the volume steps on my phone. There must be a way, even if it involves editing the build.prop file. Is it possible to change the volume steps on an S7? Any help with this matter would be greatly appreciated.
Edit: Found one thing that seems to kinda work. The NGC 4388 app won't allow me to configure the steps but does seem to add more.
Edit #2: Had to uninstall NGC 4388 because the volume would jump sometimes and I believe it nullified my Sound Mod that I had previously flashed.
Anyone know how to achieve this? Gravity box used to allow this. I'm have xposed/magisk installed so I'm open to anything.
The notification sounds are too loud but the ring sound is too quiet.
If it was like past versions of Android (8?) and phones, Google made a change to link them as one level. The App that I found that allows for seperate volume and notification control is 'Volume Butler'. It's simple and works well. There may be other Apps that can do this, but, at the time I needed it, it was the only one.

Yeah I searched all over the forums and those seems to be only apps that might work. Not sure how power hungry those apps are constantly monitoring app activity.
I was hoping something smaller that works on magisk or xposed.

This is the app I use to do that. Works great. No extra battery drain with it either.
