System UI tuner - Sprint Samsung Galaxy Note5

Anyone have success unlocking the System UI tuner with the new 6.0.1 update? I enabled developer options. When I bring down quick settings menu and hold down on the settings gear nothing happens.
Let me know if anyone has had success.
Thanks.

I'm using Good Lock from the Galaxy store, so it looks more like regular MM, but I also cannot get the System UI Tuner to come up by holding down on either cog. I haven't been able to find an answer yet either. Google results are just full of the regular way to do it so far.

Same here, can't enable it.

What does the system ui tuner do?
Edit: Nevermind I Googled it [emoji1]
I think this is more of a stock setting and probably why Samsung removed it.

When I had the Nexus 6P, that worked not only on the stock rom but other roms I flashed.

System ui tuner

I am Not sure if everyone has found this little feature yet, but it is pretty neat. On the menu drop down, press and hold the little gear icon (settings) until it starts spinning. Let go and now system UI tuner will be added to your menu. .
It allows for some pretty neat customizations

That is the #1 thing I am looking forward too in MM - lol
Do One Thing install Custom Quick Settings from the Play Store. You can customize the quick settings.
Damn shame Google nixed the Dark MM UI option they were working on for the System UI Tuner.
It was the only real tweak from this menu that I was looking forward to.
I really only stuck with the battery percent in the battery since, for some unknown reason, moto doesn't offer the percentage instead of the icon.. I guess I'm just spoiled from using CM. And touchwiz where you could do that

Sweet. Loving the embedded battery percentage and removing some of the status bar icons to clean it up a little. Thanks for the tip.

I am holding it down and nothing happens, if referring to the gear icon up by the battery icon on top right corner.
Yep, you are, but not working for me. Weird. I wonder since i have already activated dev options? Not same stuff though. Nope, disabled dev options and still not working.
Non rooted stock device. Strange. Does not spin.
Update: I restarted the device and now works.
Thanks for the info
Cheers

Seems you have disabled animation in developer options. Enable it and restart mobile. Then try pressing it again and you will see it enabled.
You can then go and disable animation once again. Hope that helps.
Wow! I was looking for the system ui tuner and couldnt find it. I'm happy to have found this thread. I'm not sure everybody who owns this device knowing about this hidden feature.
Also, when i tweak the quick tiles, and then select to remove the system tuner from the settings menu, it switches back to "default" quick tiles.
Is this supposed to happen? I mean, do I have to keep "system ui tuner" in the settings menu in order to have the tiles i chose?
Hope you understand everything, I don't speak well english.

Great, if only for Battery%! THAT, was killing me until I got to the point I did not give a crap! Thanks!
System ui tweaker doesn't work for me. It breaks my dropdown menu.
Also not not disturb disappears.
Disable system ui tweaker, everything is fine.

I think it was the source of some problems I was having on my XPE too. My paired bluetooth devices kept unpairing. I posted about it here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-x-style/help/paired-bluetooth-devices-unpairing-t3298262
Long story short, I tried everything and I could think of and finally got a replacement from Moto, only to have the same thing happen with the new phone. Then I disabled System UI Tweaker and it hasn't happened since, and it has been several days.

System UI Tuner - Disabled by Verizon?

I have read to turn on the System UI Tuner, swipe down and then hold my finger down on the gear representing settings, the gear would then spin, and I would be able to enable the System UI Tuner menu. This does not work for me with Verizon Note 5 on Marshmallow. Has Verizon restricted us from doing this? Can someone try on a Non-Verizon Marshmallow phone (like a Nexus) and let us know?

Works on my Nexus like that, but not on the Note. Not really missing anything in my opinion.

So in other words - you feel as though the "System UI Tuner" is useless?

Doesn't really do anything for me on my Nexus 7. Pretty much a gimmick as far as I can tell. You can move around the quick setting tiles. Turn them off or on also. That's about it, and usually for me doesn't even do that.

Anyone managed to get to system ui tuner?

The instructions to enable system ui tuner on the web don't appear to be working...holding down the sprocket on the toggle screen till it spins doesn't enable the menu...anyone else know how to get to it?
Also still looking for a way (non xposed) to assign long hold of back button to kill foreground app.
Should say system UI tuner added to settings after holding for about 5 seconds.

It should..I agree...thats what all the suggestions say and I can see the wheel spin....but it's not in the list. Are you saying it worked for you? If so I may need to go back to a fresh install and try this again.

For me also it worked.
I finally got the thing to appear and I'm still not certain how...I think marshmallow is much more picky about the touchscreen and the glass screen protector I have on it....taps are not being interpreted right all the time....anyway thanks for confirming. Ironically by the time I enabled the menu I had already enabled xposed and found ways to set all the things I woul d have been able to do from system ui.

Anyone gotten into the System UI Tuner on Marshmallow? How?

So I have successfully upgraded OTA to 6.0.1 and rooted.
I'd like a relatively easy way to turn hot spot on and off without having to go through at least three clicks (and that's if I put the Settings icon on the home screen; otherwise it's four).
The old tried-and-true method of editing the Settings DB with SQLite no longer works. I thought I'd just give the new System UI Tuner a try, but it would appear that Sprint/Samsung have locked this out. The two known methods to enable it (long press on the gear icon after pulling down the window shade, or going to Developer Options under settings) are not available on the Sprint S5. I can see the System UI Tuner package intact on the phone, but there's no way, as far as I can tell, to launch it.
For that matter, Sprint seems to have removed all the Settings widgets except "Flashlight," so you can't even put a setting widget on the home screen to get you close.
If anyone has figured out how to get into the UI Tuner, or restore the locked Settings widgets, please let me know.
Before anyone suggests it, yes, I am aware that there is a root app to enable/disable the hot spot on the market, and I have the APK for it. I removed it because it runs continuously, even when not using the hot spot, generating "granted root access" popups at inopportune times. Besides, I'd kinda like to see what else is in the UI Tuner to tweak.
Thanks.

I have yet to find the Vulcan grip to open ui tuner.. does your version have a mobile data toggle?

No, I have to go to settings/more networks. That's another tile I would add to quick launch if I could only modify it at all....

I got it too!!!!! I'm on AT&T. Woo Hoo!!!
Whoo Hoo , got it mine too !
Seems to be working great.
BTW, is there any way to swap the recent and back button?
adb shell
settings put secure sysui_nav_bar "space,recent;home;back,space"
This doesn't work any more :\
Just flashed the fastboot image, for some reason the only options under Choose screen lock are "none" and "Swipe". There's no option for PIN or pattern anymore which leaves me unable to add a fingerprint to unlock with either
How's the battery life in Android Q?
Is it the same with P or worse?
I assume now that it is official, that SafetyNet is passing ok so things such as GooglePay aren't a problem? I had avoided trying a beta because of the lack of SafetyNet failures on them from what I had read, and I tend to use GooglePay and a few games that need SafetyNet.

Can't really answer that definitively, it came out a few hours ago. I don't consider using Beta releases as proof, and the thing about battery life, is that it is so dependent on what you do with your phone, that each one of us will get different results.
I'm surprised that the update is only 16 MB if you're on the final beta, but I think I remember the update from Android 8 beta to 9 being similarly tiny. That's a pretty good indicator that barely anything changed from beta 6.

See the August Q Beta thread, he fixed by going back to Pie then OTA
https://forum.xda-developers.com/essential-phone/how-to/august-q-beta-t3955477/post80048214
cant change calendar sound, media storage crashed when try changing calendar notification sound
WIFI and Bluetooth broken after update
WIFI and bluetooth will not stay on. Factory reset doesn't help. Neither does going back to Android 9 and doing another OTA to 10. Staying on 9 until further notice!

Same for me
(can change sound in aCalendar+ app)
Updated OTA last night. So far so good, not noticed any specific issues yet.
Kudos to essential for keeping so on top of these updates. If they do ever release another one I will buy one so long as they strengthen the phone/data signal a bit. That is pretty much my only disappointment with this one, but still it was worth every cent of the 200 bucks or so I paid for it.
Flashed ota through twrp and rooted using Magisk's canary build.
No issues thus far. I can change the stock calendar notification without media crash, but I'm only using the stock sounds. Are those experiencing issues using custom sounds?
Still can`t use gesture navigation with 3rd party launcher?
