Allwinner A33 7inch tablet with part of screen not working? - General Questions and Answers

Hi all,
I thought I'd try out a cheap £20+ A33 tablet which is a Q8H_HD model according to About Device and seems to be decent enough for the price. Only real issue I've discovered so far is the F key not working in landscape mode and touch screen tests seem to indicate a strip of screen that doesn't respond to touch.
I've tried factory resets etc. but no luck, I was considering flashing other firmware etc, possibly going from 4.4.2 to 5.0.
I ran an app to determine screen resolution and it said 1200x522 yet is supposed to be 1200x600. I wondered if it detracted the part of the screen that wasn't functioning or if it might have firmware that doesn't use the full screen somehow.
Am I safe to just assume it's an issue with the actual touchscreen or cable that connects it? I was considering taking it apart and re-seating the connection.
Any help or advice much appreciated

Just an update, I've tried to use livesuit/phoenixsuit to flash an img file but can't seem to get anywhere. I was hoping that I could get 5.0 on there instead of the 4.4.2 already there.
I've just rooted it anyway in an effort to get rid of the adware etc. on there but hoped to be able to flash it to something stable which is also clean if possible.
The specs are as follows:
Q8H_HD (astar_y3)
softwinner
sun8i
astar_y3-eng 4.4.2 KVT49L 20151112 test-keys
1024x552 pixels

Still hoping I might be able to get some help from here on this one
I found a firmware image which has worked after making a mess of the stock rom trying to remove the trojans etc. It's for a Dragontouch Y88X-PLUS (astar_y3-eng 4.4.2 KVT49L 20150721 test-keys). I managed to root easily with Kingoroot and then remove the trojans including cloudsota which doesn't seem to have returned after rebooting.
General speed and responsiveness seems good and the strip of touchscreen that wasn't working started working again but seems a bit intermittent so unsure what that is.
The only real issues I've discovered so far is the camera doesn't work (unfortunately, camera has stopped) and bluetooth does detect devices but I can't transfer files with my Galaxy S5 as I could with the previous firmware. Also Wifi-direct doesn't seem to work properly.
It's nice to have a clean firmware on there but wondered if the camera might be fixable possibly or even the bluetooth if it's part of the firmware?

[Q] Freescale iMX515 A8/A9 9.7" Android 2.2 Tablet

Guys,
I got this 9.7" freescale tablet from China. It's the exact same size as the iPad, except that it's 14.4mm thick (whereas the iPad is 13.4mm thick).
It's a gorgeous device, but it misses Android Market and all the google apps!
Although most likely I don't really need many google apps (maps I can run on my phone, which I always have with me anyway, and gmail I can access via the internet), it would be nice to at least have the option.
So my biggest question is: can someone help me get Android Market onto this device?
Second issue: it seems like each time it goes to sleep, it disconnects the wireless connection, and when it wakes up I first have to reestablish the connection before I can continue using the connection. This is highly frustrating as it would screw up downloads I do in the background.
So I guess my second question is: does anyone know of a fix for this issue?
Overall, it's a lovely unit. It's light, and I can utilise iPad accessories for it (cases etc, not software/hardwre
It might be a power saving feature that the tablet has. I would say try to boot into recovery, and flash a gapps package. Try the gapps for Archos devices, you might be able to do something with that. It could brick it though, so watch out.
yeah, I figured as much. I noticed when the screen goes to sleep, it actually doesn't disconnect.
I'm a bit wary about trying out files that may or may not brick it, considering I don't have an original ROM at hand for restoration. I did see a ROM at a chinese website that applies to an APAD iMX515 variant. I asked in my poorest chinese if it would work and they replied (literally translated) "good, try.", which seems to suggest they mean to say it should work. I might give it a go, considering the models seem to be exactly the same, short of the print on the back and on the box.
Having said that, I did get a Google Maps program for it, which seems to work, and there are a ton of other android application markets around.
Try looking at the Unlisted Cortex A8 Tablets forum at slatedroid. I believe they found a solution there.
I have a mac. How do I install a firmware without recovery mode? I don't have recovery mode, doesn't exist on my unit
settings - wireless - wifi - advanced - sleep policy - always on !

[Q] Fake samsung (U920+) update?

Hi,
I recently got this phone and I´m interested in update because of some bugs.
bug 1) Phone display go dark and the phone freeze when I try to call somebody until the call end (in 50% cases, sometimes it works)
bug 2) GPS jumps from place to place (some software doesn´t work at all). In google maps GPS eg. it jumps from place to place (sometimes it gets the right location but after few seconds it always jumps elsewhere) AGPS and internet connection was also on. It is worthless that way for a car navigation.
So I was wandering if it is possible to flas a new android and solve those problems.
Specs:
Brand: alps (label: Samsung on the back )
Model number: U920+
Android version: 4.0.9
Baseband version: MAUI.11AMD.W12.22.SP.V8.P2, 2012/08/22
Kernel version: 3.0.13
Build number: E1911_V77_ZGTX6_20120904
System updater says that the phone is rooted
The phone looks very similar to galaxy note, but it has only 480*800 display
Can you help me update this phone or fix those bugs?
U920+ update
Hi Johnnnnnnnnnny,
I've got two of the same phone, I'm not an expert, maybe one of mine (the other is clean, already in the box) the only bug is the flash on the screen on calls, not a great problem for me, resolved using the power button to end the calls.
The GPS is eccellent for my poor usage.
If it's possible, can I help you with an image of my phone clean? I had a backup complete with omegavesko-SimpleADBBackup but think is not sufficiente
My phones are localized in italian (NOT ROOTED, I search on the web to make this), but I think is not a problem, for you.
But I'm not able to do an image flashable of the phone, if you or somebody can help me to make this, I can try.
With an english for kids, You can see that: is not my language!!

how to fix the screen flashing when you call
go to the screen settings
at the very end is als_ps calibration
put a book on the phone and press calibrate.
when it's finished (display ok on the screen) your problem will be fixed.
good luck

[Q] Multi touch gaming issue

Many people have the same problem as I do with xperia l. Any game which uses dual joysticks or both fingers for movement and aim will cause each other to be affected such as suddenly stop moving and such even though the multi touch test shows nothing wrong. Now after researching, the only solutions I found for 4.2.2 with latest official firmware (which is what I have) are;
1) downgrade to 4.1.2 (which I'm not a fan of)
2) you can't due to the hardware (which I doubt because some people don't have the problem but I don't know what they're running)
Now I want to clarify for certain what is a proper fix for this. The OI gaming rom or something said it fixed the multi touch problem but is it the problem I have or the old buggy problem where you couldn't even use both your fingers at the same time?
Can someone just tell me that if I flash a custom rom, will the problem still persist? Or is it truly a hardware problem?
hardware problem.

It is a hardware problem...
Latest stock firmware (.17) seems to tone it down a bit. Its still there.....but much, much better then previous firmware.
(and i dont know what are you talking about 4.1.2 because the multitouch is 10x worse there)
Im on stock .17 and i can finnaly play FPS games just fine with minor multitouch issues....
And no....custom roms wont help.
If this is a hardware issue, is it possible to use a joystick instead? I haven't seen anyone test this. And all I have is one of them usb controllers but there are apps that allows it to be a usable android joystick. My only problem is that it emulates the touches, would it be affected by the hardware issues?

mic-spk loopback Blackview Bv-9600pro

Hello first things first I'm totally new to this forum and I'm posting my question cause I searched the internet for weeks now and I simply can't find a solution.
The long story befor is.... I got a blackview bv9600pro for free and wanted to put lineage os (GSI) onto it (cause the blackview software is packed full of bloatware) this worked quite well except for the sound so I thought.... maybe just try the never version los 18.1... but this completly destroyed the phone into a softbrick (I think it destroyed the boot.img). So to get it back running I needed to format&flash it with the sp-flashtool. But there might come in my problem... I Have no Backup !!! So I got the original IMG from the blackview Forum and used it.
So now I'm on the original blackview software.... needet to flash the imei back... working fine.... but now to the real Problem... The mic simply does not work anymore. Or at least thats what I thought. After a while of testing around I tested a mic test app and my mic seems to work fine in direct mode but not to work at all in comunication mode and basically all apps except for memo apps use comunication mode. So I dug in a little deeper and found that Blackview has its on "diagnostics" built in (I think in its recovery.img)..... so I did run that and everything has run well except it shows me my mic error "mic-spk loopback failed". So I dug in even deeper and if I'm not mistaken its used to loopback the mic cause many android devices have multiple mics but blackview cheaped out and only built in one. So my real and Final question is - does anyone have any idea how to fix my mic?
Thanks in Advance BIzZmarCk
Sorry you didn't get any reply. If you contact blackview's support, you may get a free phone out of that, just saying.

AT&T LG V10 Upgrade Options

This phone has become a problem because one after another, things have stopped working on it. It's currently at the latest android release from AT&T 6.0, with the stock firmware. I did a factory reset this morning just to verify that it wasn't some of the things I have disabled, and it didn't change the way it worked (the auto brightness doesn't work at all anymore), and I'm having more and more problems with apps like the Geeni camera app that just don't work any more.
My question is, is there any upgrade path to a newer (10 or 11) version of android that might help me out? I'm basically ready to replace the device, but I've put a display on it recently and it's in otherwise good shape.
I'd like to know as well.
My wife's phone has been having issues with apps, camera lag, and browser slowing down, over heating etc. Android 6.0 maybe too old to run some apps, and probably more load on web browsing is causing the issues, but the specs are still on par, imho, with other phones that came years later in the game - 4G of ram and a great camera, good device storage for app loads. Hard to let go.
