Hey, its been a long time since i updated my phone.
It's S-Off, has viper 4.3.0, and android version 5.0.1. Can someone give me step by step on upgrading it? My head is spinning on what I need to do. I think I'd like to keep with the viper based roms but i don't know how to update the firmware on the phone and then install the new rom. Any guidance would be greatly appriciated!

Hi, guys.
I've just started using my Desire S and have updated to (OTA) 1.47.401.4. From my previous experience with Wildfire (Buzz), you could not root your phone anymore after some update... So far I'm running on stock software;haven't done anything to my new phone yet, but I'd like to try some custom ROM with sense 3.0.
So, would you be so kind and olease tell me whether it is safe to go on with S-OFF and ROOT procedures as described in guides on this forum, after the above mentioned update?
Thanks a lot in advance!
It is described for right that version here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1194488
I have gone through this with 1.47 too without any issues.
Thanks for the tip...
But as I've been reading thru the forum, no one seems to have problems after updating with the stock update to the 1.47.401.4. version...
OR, did all of those just update to the mentioned version with a custom ROM?
Would any of you who have updated via the OTA update please confirm that it is safe/no problem S-OFF-ing and rooting the phone with Revolutionary and SuperOneClick? After the 1.47.401.4. OTA, that is?
Please, I don't wonna screw myself into bricking my phone or putting myself in a situation from which it would take me hours to get it back on track again. And there is no straight answer to my question.
Just a simple "YES" or "NO" will do...
Alright, so I've had an htc sensation running on leedroid 3.10 for quite some time now. Recently it started to restart randomly, so I decided to upgrade my rom. So then I attempted to install insertcoin ICS, but I needed a new radio. So I chose one figuring it would work and now my device doesn't connect to internet or even my data. Whenever I try to install a different radio now to attampt fixing it, it says I have the wrong CID! I NEED my phone to work soon because i have a lot of important things to do that involve it!! Thanks for all help and please respond soon! FYI it says my radio is 10.11.9007.06_M2. Should I maybe reflash the hboot?
EDIT: And in case you're wondering, I've been searching for the solution for hours. I've never been more afraid of anything not working than this phone, and I can't afford a new phone, so please help!
First, you need to be superCid in order to install any radio without issue, Have a look in this post, Step 4
After that, you need to install corresponding firmware before flashing ICS rom. read this Thread

Hi,
10.11.9007.06_M2 is a few steps backwards/downwards on the radio ladder.
You can see the order HERE
What is your actual plan?
Do you want ICS?
If you want ICS ,you either need Super CID,or look at THIS POST
Right now there are 2 ICS bases:
3.12.....Sense 3.5
3.24.....Sense 3.6
When you install the appropriate firmware for either ROM,it will have the new radio inside the PG58IMG.zip
A good thread to follow is HERE
If you are not confident about upgrading to ICS,you could just flash the radio:
10.58.9035.00U_10.15.9035.02_2
and carry on with GingerBread.
A while back I flashed a rom onto my HTC sensation.
Current Specs:
Android Version- 2.3.4
HTC Sense Version- 3.0
Software Number- Pyramid3Dv8.21 xe
Yet, With all these new releases and roms, I have no idea where to start :/
Currently scared to do anything since I'm afraid to brick my phone.
I'm sorry if this has or been answered somewhere else.
But, Could someone lead me into the right path to upgrading to the new Firmware + what I need to install for the new 3.0.0+ roms?
I will really appreciate it.
Thank you for reading this.
First you require some basic one time steps that you need to do
This is the guide to do those
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1192300
Follow the steps carefully.... Also you can do soff if your hboot is <= 1.18 hboot
Chk the guide for steps to see your hboot
Then for installing ICS roms
This is the best guide

sent from my blazing fast pyramid through sonic waves
Android Version- 2.3.4
HTC Sense Version- 3.0
have you been living under a rock?! you'll love ICS and new Sense

try ORdroid (OR) ARHD Roms they r awesome.....
thanks for shinz.& mike for there awesome work
I understand about the new stuff in a way
But, What do I do since i'm not updated yet?
Install stock firmware and update regularly then redo the Process?
or is there someway I can Just update without having to redo S-OFF
I believe you can simply flash the 3.32 firmware and then update to the new ICS ROMs. No need to S-OFF again since you're running the older hboot version (that is, I'm assuming you're still running hboot 1.18 or lower since you haven't updated your phone in a while and you're already rooted and stuff).
The second link that ganeshp posted should be all you need to know.

Hi,
It is not clear if you are s-off or not.
Once you are s-off,that will remain no matter what you do(unless you choose to s-on again )
If you are s-off,and you want to upgrade to Ice Cream Sandwich(ICS) then, everything that you need is in THIS THREAD.
Read it carefully, then read it again!
If you still have questions, ask in that thread or here.
Good luck.

first of all check your HBOOT version (from bootloader -> volume down + power)
if its 1.18 or less(this is only required for SOFF ...if you are already SOFF follow the rest of steps from the guide)...then just use my guide(1st link) for basic steps to keep your phone ready...for flashing custom roms
then for ICS you first need to update your firmware...which was awesomely explained on how to do it from the second guide link I've provided....
remember once you've updated you firmware you can not boot into your OLD GB rom as it is not compatible so you need to get the ICS ROM you want to install on your sdcard before doing firmware update so that you can just flash the ROM directly after updating the firmware
that's all you require...(my best suggestion is READ READ READ...until you are crystal clear)
Alrighty, so, there's a ridiculous amount of confusion about upgrading to 3.4-kernel-based ROMs, and I need some serious help here to make sure I don't brick my phone. I cant be getting a new one right now.
Anyways, basic info of what I've got:
- T-Mobile One S (launch day model)
- hboot 1.06
- 0.16 radio running currently
- CM 10.1 nightly 0607 (June 7th) - Android 4.2.2
- Kernel version 3.0.80
- S-OFF, CID 111111 (however many ones it is, and I S-OFF'd it using the original guide when S-OFF was just initially figured out)
Question: What on Earth do I need to flash and not flash in order to get to 10.2? I rooted my phone the 2nd day I had it, and have never gone back to an official HTC ROM, and I'm 100% sure that I haven't performed any firmware updates outside of flashing CM or ViperS roms.
The official 10.2 build came out today, and I'm anxious to get updated, but scared as hell that I'm gonna brick it, because these guides on which firmware to flash are confusing, and some of the files' links are broken.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. I'm more than capable of following technical instructions, and am plenty familiar with adb and fastboot, it's just that I'm really not sure which things I need to flash and which I DONT.
Thanks XDA.

So I'm probably asking a question that's been asked many times before.. I have the dreaded HTC One X from AT&T. I keep getting references toward the XL, and mine seems to fit the profile as a dual core LTE phone. Anyways, I am dealing with CWS_001 CID and HBOOT 1.14 and would like to upgrade my OS to either stock Jelly Bean or CyanogenMod (this would be my preference) or if someone has a BETTER suggestion than I am open to a better mod. I have seen a few really catchy ones like MAXIMUS that I wanted to try. I have achieved unlocking, rooting, and S-OFF on this device already. After those processes.. my phone downloaded a large system update from AT&T which was Jelly Bean. It will not allow it to install. I presume this is because my device isn't actually approved for that update and something I did in this whole process triggered the server into believing I should have gotten it..
So is there a way for me to update my HBOOT for CyanogenMod or some other form of an upgraded version of Android?
I am currently running:
Android Version 4.0.4
Sense Version 4.0
Software Number 2.20.502.7.710RD
SDK API Level 4.23
Kernel 3.0.8-01558
Anyone out there able to point me in the right direction? Thanks!

I originally started with TWRP as I had used the all in one tool for alot of the process. I then performed the the S-OFF and just now flashed Clockwork because I had read of others with TWRP 2.5 issues installing ROMs. Even in clockwork I can't install the Jelly Bean update on my ICS phone so I'm assuming there is a step I don't know of and cannot find anything for it. Thanks for responding!

You need stock recovery to allow the installation of an OTA. It can be extracted from an OTA zip file.
In short, since you are S-OFF.
1. Flash 3.18 ATT RUU.
2. Flash recovery. I have always used TWRP and had good luck.
3. Save latest CM 10.1 (or other ROM) to your SDCARD.
4. Boot to recovery and flash ROM.
5. Profit!
Thanks alot, to both of you!
I used the RUU and after a few small errors was in fact able to update to HBOOT 2.14 and Android Jelly Bean. The rest should be a cake walk. I'm truly appreciative of how quickly and intelligently you guys helped me out. Thanks again.
Just wanted to thank you guys again.
Over the past 3 days, I have made a successful transition from a crummy stock device on an outdated Android 4.0.4 OS to ViperXL 3.2.8 with the latest ElementalX kernel and I could not be happier.
Could not have done it without you folks!
