Does "Call Forwarding" Work on stock Mashmallow? - Xperia Z5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi there,
Just noticed I can't active or deactive all kinds of call forwarding since upgreaded to mashmallow.
Xperia Z5 Dual / E6683
I get "Call settings error - Network or SIM card error." everytime when I access Settings - Call - <Your Operator> - Call forwarding
I get "Call forwarding - Connection problem or invalid MMI code." when I dial *#21# and all 4 kinds of MMI code.
Suspicions & Recent activities:
1. upgraded to mashmallow
2. subscribed a new 4G LTE plan and changed to a NFC SIM.
I'd like to know is that an individual case or everyone get this problem caused by stock mashmallow.
Thanks
H.W.

GSM Call Forwarding

SIM unlocked my VZW TP2 - able to use my ATT SIM card nicely!
Can anyone help with being able to forward calls while the phone is using the GSM mode.
If I use **004*[number]# or *21* or multiple others then I get a "Command not supported" error.
In the phone settings section there is no place to Forward calls.
Thus no way to forward calls on the GSM mode
Any ideas?

[Q] routing outgoing calls on dual sim phones

hello,
I have a wm dual sim phone and i am trying to find a way to
route my outgoing calls trough Sim1 or Sim2 based on number prefix
(xxx)123456 -> SIM1
(yyy)123456 -> SIM2
I was thinking that i could use a combination between
MagiCall/Mortscript/cmd.line_dialer(eg. vjdialer), to do this but i havn't found a command line dialer that could use the second sim.
The last solution would be to write myself a command line dual sim dialer, but i have no clue what API (TAPI or RIL or change reg values or ..etc) to use in order to select the second sim and place a phone call
any advice would be geat, THX

[Q] Any USSD to check prepaid balance on tablet

I used to check the balance on my prepaid sim by issuing the *100# USSD.
However, as for a tablet which does not support voice connection there is no dialer app installed
which could be used to send such USSD.
On the another hand it is possible to enter service mode by telling the device a special (really long USSD)
in a special place.
I wonder if it was possible to send the *100# ussd to operator in same way as the service mode is invoked.
Any idea?

Lineage OS 7.1.1: Unable to send SMS messages

Hello all,
I flashed my girlfriend's Sprint S5 with Lineage OS recently without a hitch, all services working perfectly. We ended up traveling, so she went to Sprint to set up a temporary international roaming plan. Everything was completely as expected abroad. When we got back, her phone would not send SMS messages.
We tried the usual airplane mode and such, and to no avail. Assuming something was wrong with the network configuration from travelling, we reset network settings. Didn't work. I then decided to just do a full wipe and re-flash of Lineage OS. Still doesn't work. I then resorted to going back to the stock TouchWiz ROM from Sprint. At that point, under the stock ROM, SMS were sending. Out of curiosity, we flashed back Lineage OS, and SMS will again not send. We noticed that if the SIM card is removed, SMS will send, but the phone would not be able to access 4G LTE. We also confirmed with Sprint that there are no restrictions on the account.
What could be causing this to occur only on custom Roms? Do we need to do a PRL update? If so, how does that work on stock Android?
Thanks in advance!
S5 sprint No outbound sms
I've had this problem for weeks....So far the only solution is using Google voice app....
I'm using LOS 7.1.1 20170207 kltespr nightly, LTE SMS can only receive, sending doesn't work. Only 3G SMS works.
Things I noticed:
Settings -> About Phone -> Status -> IMEI Information. When on 3G, all information is displayed here, when on LTE, only IMEI and IMEI SV is displayed, there's no PRL/MIN/MEID/ICCID anywhere, not even disabled or greyed out, just hidden completely.
ICCID also shows DUMMY_NV_ICC_SERIAL instead of the actual ICCID.
Same experience for me, I've been trying to find a workaround for over a month with no success. Alternative text messaging apps seem to work, but I don't trust 3rd parties with my SMS.
Unable to send SMS
Mike.
Which third party SMS app are you getting to work? Besides Google voice I have had no luck with any third party app?
I'm having the same issue. I'm on Resurrection ROM which is based on Lineage. Since update I can't send SMS at all other than via Google Voice. I can receive SMS and I can send/receive MMS.
I did find that if I change to 3g only for my network settings, I can send SMS. But then of course I don't get LTE data speeds for everything else. So the issue for me at least is tied specifically to LTE. Wondering if there is an APN or other setting I can change that would fix this but so far no luck finding anything.
Bug reported since 01/28

I've run into the same problem or similar. If I set my preferred network type to GLOBAL then I can send and receive SMS/MMS messages but I'm forced to either Roaming LTE or 3G. It's often stuck in 3G after a drive for any distance. If I force it to LTE, then SMS/MMS stops working and I can't place or receive calls either but the network will show up as LTE and Sprint.
To get there from Settings Home -> More (under Wireless and Networks) -> Cellular networks -> Preferred network type -> Choose Global.
Sometimes I can force it back to LTE but roaming if I switch temporarily to LTE then once it connects switch back to Global. Occasionally I have to put it in airplane mode to get the radios to reset and connect but some combo of switching network type and ending up in global and switching into and back from airplane will do the trick.
YMMV of course.
one way I fix it temporarily is to:
cell networks - carrier settings, let it crash
go in again and let it find your carrier
once connected, make a phone call at least to get it ringing
I can then make sms mms.
it's a rediculous work around but it works for me every time
SMS Sending Problem with Lineage 14.1 (31.07.2017)
Heyy
I'm not able to send sms from SIM 1 but can send sms from SIM 2 in Lenovo A6020a46 (2GB) on Lineage 14.1 (31.07.2017).
The same SIM is working good in another roms and Calling + Internet are working properly.
After dialing *#*#4636#*#* in Phone Information - SMSC Refresh then it appeared "Phone no.", 456 and I pressed Update.
But there was no process for saving or updating. Then I reentered in Phone Information but SMSC Shows blank.
What to do??? anybody help in this matter will be immensely appreciated.

I made this file using Odin with the steps from here. I flashed the file, set the connection to LTE aand it worked. https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=71582847&postcount=5908
To fix this issue with having LTE signal and sending SMS at the same time you have to open EnginneringMode app (or *#*#3646663#*#*) and check 'Sms over Sgs support' in Misc Feature Config tab.
Doesn't work because nothing comes up entering the code. Any idea?

If that code doesn't work for you, try to find an app called Engineering Mode MTK. Unfortunately I cannot attach any screenshots yet (I got less than 10 posts).
fix
there is an option in network settings (enhanced 4G LTE mode for comunications etc) i disabled that option and messaging works fine now. before unchecking this option i could only send sms only with phone on 3g mode, now it works fine. i think this option is for hd voice calls via 4g lte.
I see this is an old problem and I´m having the same problem. I can receive SMS, but I can´t send.
But to add to that, I couldn´t connect at all with my previous carrier and changed carrier after which I can use data, call and send SMS. I still can´t receive SMS.

Question Outgoing calls are "Private Number" problem

Hi all,
I am facing a serious issue in the Contacts app of my new Google Pixel 7 Pro.
When I call somebody and they answer their phone, the call shows as "Private number" in the Recents tab.
If they do not answer, then the contact name is shown normally, as it should.
Take a look at the screenshot here: https://postimg.cc/jL1yT1NX
All items shown as "Private" are calls that I made and they answered.
I've searched online, but find the thread on Pixel 6 section Pixel 6 Contacts Bug related to this issue with no solutions.
The bug is releted to provider (Italy Fastweb for me) but as I read that the bug is noticed in hungary, germany and other countries
Any insights could help a lot.
Do you get the same issue in a third party phone app?

Yes, I have tried various dialers with the same behavior.
I tried with another provider (Italy TIM) and the behavior is correct.
I have never had these problems with the previous cellphone Pixel 5.
same problem of pixel 6...(fastweb)
Check your Calling accounts settings...
Phone > Settings > Calling accounts > Your SIM > Additional settings > Caller ID.
- Network default (whatever your network provider defaults to)
- Hide number (will attempt to override network provider defaults and hide the number and show up as Private number)
- Show number (will attempt to override network provider defaults and show the number)

Tried all the checks with no luck...is very strange, this behavior come only with specific provider(Fastweb for Italy).

The only other suggestion I have is requesting a new physical SIM / eSIM.

Did you try calling the network operator? It definitely looks like the operator has some configurations at the network level causing this.
LOL I confirm it's a pixel (7 pro, in my case) + fastweb issue. I had a OnePlus, same operator, and no issues.
Quite annoying
Same here, Pixel 7 Pro + Fastweb
If you are rooted
Check your carrier settings xml file
There might be some setting that you might be able to change
Same problem. Did you solve it?
Hello guys,
I used to have the same problem until yesterday. Today I attempted an outgoing call and unexpectedly did not face such issue. Maybe they fixed it.
Can anyone confirm it is behaving correctly, or is it just me?
italy+ fastweb today problem of private number is still present....
Spain + Jazztel and same behavior, some randome "Private Number" calls that should show my contact name
Pixel 7 + Fastweb (Italy) same problem. Started not a long time ago (maybe 5 days). I've had the phone since December 2022
