Root is possible without USB cable on the Nexus S I9023 with 2.3.6 ?
In Bootloader I have : LOCK STATE - UNLOCKED
Recovery : Android system recovery <3e>
I have this problem : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1360146, so I'm looking to root directly from the phone.

using phone now, not easy to use search my post or reply , I have uploaed a flashble zip file somewhere , install it via recovery

also you can install a recovery without USB by using rom manager or terminal

Thanks....but I think you can't understand me. I have Recovery : " Android system recovery <3e>" - this means that you can't install any !
- just get this error - signature verification failed !!!
Anyway thanks for your help, unfortunately it does not work

You can't use Rom Mannager for clockmod recovery because you need root acces for this !!!!
For now I do not think is possible!
I installed RootTools, InstantRoot, Z4Root and failed to root acces.

Sooo. My bootloader is unlocked, the phone was rooted and I had installed cwm recovery.
I wanted to flash CM11 so I "wiped: data/factory reset, cache, dalvik, format /system, format /data & /media".
Now I can only get into fastboot the phone just freezes at boot logo? I have left for 10-15 mins. Please could someone advise how best to proceed.
I did have a backup of my rom using ROM manager.
Go to moto g android original development forum, download moto tool and your full firmware files... Try restore option in the tool

Okay thanks, didn't have much luck with that tool.
Tried the UK ROM with windows batch routine and it worked fine
For those with TWRP,S-OFF,Unlocked,Supercid 11111111 Or BS_US001,2PQ912000 Mid
May it work if u are coming from other rom,Not tested

When I allowed the stock system to take this update it forced factory reset after install. It asked for my disk encrypt key and it confirmed it was correct but then went straight to reset. No advanced warning. Anyone else?

Also I cannot find a changelog for this update. Is that normal for HTC? Seems pretty bush league to me. But not warning of a required wipe of /data before installing an update is awful.

Really? This is strange in 2 htc i tested i didn't see that, did you restore the recovery too from the backup?
I should have said "stock phone", not "stock system" as in /system. I just got the phone on Monday, immediately took a system update, then this update today. Since I expect to be rooting and losing /data anyway I haven't started customizing only to lose it. Because I have done no installs yet I can't take credit for the odd behavior - just looking to warn others.

I don't see the TWRP backup when I go to restore
Is the Backup on the extern SD? Than you have to select the Storage.
It is on the external SD and I have selected it, doesn't show up.

Try to rename the HT5A.... Folder to the one that matches with your device. I make a backup and get that folder and insert this Backup into it.

About pin required, i fixed it by going to fingerprint, erase all, select new fingerprint add and it asked me if i want pin unloyon reboot, i said no

I'm stuck on the same screen with the message "fs_mgr_mount_all failed"
How'd you reinstall the ROM? I tried to flash an RUU image but it won't let me flash an older firmware. I don't have S-off btw
I've been trying ever method I can find online and all I've gotten is failure and I'm running out of ideas so if anyone out there has any ideas of how to root one I'm all ears (I will try anything)

is it a Blu Dash G D490L??
if you can't really find a custom recovery, and your device has a lolipop+ frimware
you may try to get the stock frimware
and then use magisk to patch the stock bootloader
and then, if the bootloader is unlocked or unlockable ( ill look into this ) you can flash the patched boot.img
then you will have root
I don't have a technical background so it's a bit challenging to follow your instructions hence I was wondering if you can do it for your price? I found this thread through a google search. It's Blu Dash G D490U

Check your PM, I've dd my mmcblk0 from my U11 but never been updated with Lineage OTA.
