[Resolved] Custom recovery not working android one - General Questions and Answers

Hi All,
I own a android one device(Spice dream UNO(MI498)). I have installed Marshmallo Stock rom init. After some days I changed my mind to install CyanogenMod Snapshot recently released.
Now the problem what I'm facing is recovery is not working, I have tried to install TWRP,PhilzTourch and even CWM.
TWRP --> Not opening at all it just shows team win wall paper and just blinking.
After rebooting I got TWRP home screen , So I did format/clean up the required partition to install new rom and select zip file to install new rom, It just coming back to home screen in a second without instaling.
PhilzTouch --> after opening I see dead android behind menu. I'm not able to install zip from here as well.
CWM -- > After opening It asks me to root the device and I say Yes and rebooted, after recovery itself is not opening.
I did this procedure again and again but no luck

Donwload tmrp.img file from google ( just search and download )
and flash via flashify app ( playstore )
thats all.

update my recovery
Click to collapse
download TWRP 2.8.1.1 zip for TF101.
Boot into recovery and choose 'Install'
search for your downloaded signed_twrp-2.8.1.1_tf101.zip and flash it.
I assume you have no working ROM installed, so this part is a bit different from normal
Now choose 'Reboot'(a warning pops up that no ROM is installed), and don't install root (we do that later).
While rebooting, you will notice a progressbar. When the progressbar is finished, you have to force a reboot to the recovery (since you are without a working ROM, nothing else will work anyway).
you should now have twrp 2.8.1.1 (look in the statusbar on top of the screen)
from here it is straight forward:
flash Katkiss, Supersu and gapps in that order.
if things still does not work I find it useful to format data (not just wipe). especially useful when coming from another ROM

[Completed] taoshan - twrp - installing cm12 failed - Executing updater binary in zip

Hey guys,
I spent all day to find a solution but I failed.
To start off, I've got a Sony Xperia L (taoshan), which I flashed with CyanogenMod using Clockworkmod.
Lately I updatet it to CyanogenMod 12 and slowly but steadily I got pissed because the CyanogenMod Recovery which was automatically installed with CM12 couldn't update to the next version, so I always had to manually flash the "old" boot.img of the cm11 in order to get a working recovery and then flash the new Version of CM12 which again blew out Clockworkmod.
Because I was annoyed of this I tried to install TWRP hoping it would solve that. Of course it didn't went as smooth as in any tutorial which would have been installing the app from the Playstore running it and done, but I had to flash it in the end.
So now TWRP "works". But it couldn't install the latest CM (a couple of hours have already passed, so I don't remember what the error message said or wheter there was a message at all)
Somewhen I did a full wipe to solve something but obviously it didn't work.
At some point I gave up trying to install the latest version and I started trying the Version I had running before. Luckily I still got the .zip of that very Version I flashed a couple of days ago using CWM, which means this .zip does definitly work!
But the sideload of TWRP does not work. The command promt says:"device not found" , while my Xperia L says waiting for input.
So I extracted my Micro Sd, plugged it into my PC copied the "Old" boot.img, that had CWM PLUS the .zip I intend to install and a .zip file with gapps I knew I had to install after the CM12.
After the transfer I repluged the micro sd back into my device and tried to install the CM12 ... .zip directly from the sdCard.
Well for a few seconds it looked like an installation process but then my phone directly rebootet TWRP without installing anything.
Then I tried moving the .zip onto the internal storage and install it from there.
There it says: "Error executing updater binary in zip..."
At that point I had enough of TWRP and tried to go back to my old method... Means
- turning the phone off
- extracting the boot.img from cm-11-20140827-NIGHTLY-taoshan
- setting my phone into fastboot by pressing volume up and connecting it
- open a commandprompt at the folder where fastboot.exe lies
- use fastboot flash boot "path to boot.img" to flash CWM onto my device
- use fastboot reboot and then volume up at the purple light to go to recovery, which should be by then CWM
And I saw a nice blue logo of Team Win Recovery Project and I wanted to cry...
So in Summary I searched a lot of Sites for a solution but didn't find a single one to solve one of my Problems...
For the lazy ones:
- I cannot use Sideload because the commandpromt doesn't recognize my phone... however it did when using CWM
- I cannot install it from my SDCard, because it reboots without doing anything
- I cannot install it from the internal storage because "Error executing updater binary in zip
- I cannot use CWM because if I flash the boot.img that brings about CWM nothing happens and I still have TWRP
Well I am at the end of my knowledge and I truly hope one the answers I get here work out.

[Q] Messed up trying to install lollipop for blue htc one s

hi everyone, good to finally sign up after being a long time reader here, unfortunately I have a problem.
My htc one s is rooted and I am running twrp and wanted to install the latest cm nightly so I downloaded it, googled instructions and used these instructions from a website.
Steps to Install Android 5.0.2 Lollipop on HTC One S via Official CyanogenMod 12 Nightly ROM
Boot into Recovery mode via adb or hardware buttons or use the QuickBoot app if your device is rooted.
In recovery mode, back up data on your current ROM. If using TWRP, select Backup and perform a Swipe to Back Up from the bottom of the screen.
Then select Wipe and do a Swipe to Factory Reset from the bottom of the screen.
Return to the main menu of TWRP recovery and select Install (if using CWM then choose Install Zip from SDcard.
Browse to the file where you saved the CM12 ROM zip file, select it and Swipe to Confirm Flash on the bottom of the screen. Now, wait until the flashing process completes.
After the ROM is flashed, repeat step 8 to flash the Gapps package as well.
Once both the files are flashed, return to recovery's Main menu and select Reboot > System.
I did all that and it installed fine, however, when I restarted the phone, it showed the htc logo then it just went black so I had to go back into twrp.
Instead I changed my mind and tried to install 4.1.1. jelly bean (since I needed to update anyways and couldn't because I'm running twrp and in that whole process I ended up deleting the version of jellybean and basically my phone has no jellybean or lollipop installed at all so my only option is going back into twrp.
After that, I read that my phone has to be S-off so I looked up instructions on how to install it (I'm on a mac) and apparently I'm supposed to flash the boot.img (kernel) via fast boot but in order to do that you need to have jellybean or some kind of rom running to have debugging mode on and I don't so basically this is where I'm stuck.
My apologies for the lengthy explanation but if anyone knows what to do from here that would be amazing thanks.

[Completed] CM13 + CWM + Gapps = Brick

Ok. I have a Samsung S4 mini. Yesterday I installed CM13. Dumb thing to do.
It was an automatic update from CMUpdater, so not through the Recovery menu.
For my surprise, I noticed that this update also updated the ClockWorkMod Recovery to the latest version available.
The CM13 installation went well actually .The phone booted fine. Then of course I needed the new Gapps installed. I downloaded the correct Gapps. Boot into CWM recovery. Choose the Gapps ZIP file. And... Error! I went back to phone to enable root acess (ADB & Apps), and enabled USB debugging also. And...Error! No way to install Gapps with CWM recovery.
After some search I realize that the new Gapps for CM13 is somehow not compatible with the CWM recovery that was instaled. So I downloaded ROM MANAGER to change the recovery to TWRP, which everybody said would perfectly flash the Gapps smoothly. Nothing happened. No TWPR. Only CWM still on. Then I downloaded Flashify and went back and forth on installing and unistalling TWPR and CWM. On and On.
Conclusion: somewhere along the process not only I couldnĀ“t install TWRP recovery, but also have wrecked the CWM recovery. Now, no matter what I do, I cannot enter recovery mode at all, hence i cannot neither install Gapps or Reinstall another ROM to "start from scratch"....
I can boot the phone normally.
I can boot into donwload mode normally.
I tried installing TWRP .tar with ODIN3 but it keeps saying "cant open USB port", so it fails.
I have also installed KIES. It sucessfully install drivers, but fails to connect with my device.
Is there anyway to install a Recovery or a fresh new ROM without having to boot recovery?!
Some help? Please.
Hello,
Welcome to XDA.
Do you have USB debugging enabled in system settings to allow flashing via Odin? You may not even need to use Odin.

No Gapps on my xperia l

I tried to root my xperia l last year. It got rooted and worked just fine. Then I thought to install cm12 nightly on it. That's when all went to hell.....
I had also planned to swap cwm with twrp and idk somewhere in d middle I screwed up and my cwm got corrupted. It started glitches and I thought it was a minor issue but it wasn't. I was able to install the ROM after some struggling with the ROM and I forgot to install Gapps and restarted. Now what's happened that I can't access my recovery so I can't install Gapps........ Please help
http://forum.xda-developers.com/xperia-l/development/app-recoveries-recovery-installer-t3187915 download and install the app, enable root on your phone, open the app and choose twrp, it will be automatically installed. In case the app says error, go https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B-_0FWPVKAZSR0JOdFZweGIxdkk/view?usp=docslist_api. Download this twrp zip and extract it, put the twrp img to your phone's storage. Then open the app again, you will see on top right corner, there is a (3 dots) menu. Click it, then choose flash custom recovery, choose the twrp.img that you extracted before
