Unfortunately, Samsung doesn't allow users to install Gear Manager on voice-enabled tablets like the Galaxy Tab S2 (SM-T815). Has anyone tried side loading the Gear Manager app on a tablet and pairing it with their watch? If so, have you encountered any issues?

Hi,
I was able to get the Gear S2 connected with the Tab S2.
Rooted the Tab (SM-T815Y)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/tab-s2/development/root-cf-autoroot-tab-s2-sm-t3187202
Edited build.prop as per
http://forum.xda-developers.com/tab-s2/help/connection-to-gear-s-watch-t3250831
Ro.product.model
Ro.build.characteristics
Then installed sideloaded Gear app ( https://www.dropbox.com/s/omenl6cndu4vivd/com.samsung.android.app.watchmanager-2.apk?dl=0 , sorry lost the post where I found this link.)
hope this helps others as they helped me

Running that was updating the app, then loaded extra data (2) and got connected
Does anyone know how to connect the Gear manager with the G Flex 2? I have the installed version from the playstore but it wont find my Gear S.. Is there a certain version I need to use to make that connection? I can connect my Gear Circle with no problem, but I need the manager to connect to Gear S for Shealth and the Circle advance features,
Or if there is a way to sync the Gear S with LG Health, I would try that as well.
Thanks in advance
I just paired my Gear S2 Classic to my G Flex 2 last night. For Gear Manager to see the watch for pairing you need to be in the bluetooth page of the settings app on the watch for it to be discoverable.
The play store gear Manger is for the Samsung gear s2 only. . If you want to pair your gear s1 you need to download the modded version of gear manager from the Samsung gear s forum from xda..

Hello everybody,
I've just bought a Samsung Gear S3 but I'm not able to pair it with my Samsung Tab 8.4 t705. I downloaded Samsung Gear app from Samsung Apps but it doesn't recognize my watch. Did anyone manage to connect it and can give me a help? Thank you
The Gear Manager app isn't compatible with Samsung (or any other) tablets. Yes, it sucks as that is the perfect companion device to the watch.

So it's not possible to pair the two devices....neither modifying build.prop file of Tab S or with another app? Thanks
This guide is a temporary fix for the connection problems with Samsung Wearables in Pie custom Rom ports from Note FE
Requirements:
Galaxy Wearable: Last version from Play Store is working
Samsung Gear S Plugin (Can you try with the apk for your device but it is important that the application version ends in "N". For example, the version of Gear S Plugin that worked for me is 2.2.03.19032541N). Versions ending in "N" as seen versions are used for phones that are not and do not have Samsung TouchWiz, Samsung experience or One UI Download here
Samsung Accessory service: Download here
AFWall+: Download here
Instructions:
Unistall Galaxy Wear apps (Galaxy Wearable, plugin, accessory service, SASystemProviders, etc).
Unlink device from bluetooth settings
Install the mentioned apps
Open Galaxy Wearable app, configure and link your device (If the device don't link and at stuck in "Finishing pairing", make a factory reset from settings in the watch and try again).
Once linked and configured, run the AFWall + app and configure how it is in the attached screenshot
Enjoy!

I've been trying to do this for a couple of hours but without success. What I noticed was that the Galaxy wearable is always updating the Gear Plug-in and that is probably the reason why the pairing fails. And if I block the internet access to the Galaxy wearable app while initiating the pairing then it refuses to pair... It's a vicious circle... Do you have any ideas how to circumvent this obstacle?

The plugin update always runs after linking with the phone or at least in my case with the Gear S2

So why bother installing the application version ending in N if the Galaxy wearable overwrites it and installs the latest one and only then does the phone start the pairing - at least in my case... Or am I missing something?

For that it is blocked in AFWall +, with this it would not have a way to update itself directly

So,the right steps are first run AF+ to block the wearable app and after that I should start the wearable app..is that correct?
My device is the galaxy s7 edge (exynos)
with lightrom

No, first connect and setup your watch and then setup AF+

The problem is that I can't finish the set-up/connection process... Bluetooth loses connection with the watch in the last step of the set-up.

Has anyone been successful connecting to a Galaxy Watch 46mm using this method?

Yes, I get it. But in my case, as I stated earlier, it updated itself even before it started pairing - and it happens every time. You just can't block internet access while connecting to the watch becasue it refuses to pair. And if you grant access to the internet then it updates itself...
Guys has anyone tried and succesfully paired Samsung Galaxy Watch? AFAIK the problem is with only the newer Watched (Active and Watch). So Gear S3 an others may work with this workaround but the newer ones dont.
For me it's worked on LightRom v8.
Things that i've done:
1. Install apps from:

3. Pair watch
4. In AFWall+ block Gear Wearable app.
5. Put back the original build.prop
6. Reboot phone
7. In Samsung Wearable app don't update plugin!
Ok, after 2 days without problem this morning i have rebooted my phone with watch connected and after reboot i opened gear manager and boooom notification of update is here :crying: , I repeated everything in the guide and I pair the watch, after that i found a little issue due to the timing of the reboot and afwall+ start, in this couple of second gear s plugin check internet before afwall start and the problem is half here again, half because gear can connect to phone but gear manager become unusable without the update of gear s plugin
A temporary fix is to disable in gear manager, gear plugin and Samsung accessory service background data and background usage and close everytime gear manager before a reboot, I try this three times and seems ok

Ok, I don't have the problem but I use the blackdiamond NFE rom and it works fine
I'm using BlackDiamond NFE V3 with Gear S3 Frontier and works great but with a procedure a little different mentioned by OP.
This is the way that worked for me:
1. Clear data from Galaxy Wearable and uninstall Galaxy Wear apps (Gear S plugin, accessory service, SASystemProviders, etc).
2. Unpair device from bluetooth settings.
3. Install the apps provided by OP.
4. Open AFWall+ (IMPORTANT: Second icon at the top corner -> "Block selected") and check the 3 boxes like the screenshot from OP. Apply and activate the firewall.
5. Open Galaxy Wearable app and follow the configuration.
Thank you @thrasher97
Hello,
I having some trouble with the watch and the p40 pro.
1.- Is there any way to make samsung pay works? I'm getting the "push notifications" error.
2.- Is is possible to make the galaxy store works from the watch? I don't know why but it is not even launched.
Thank you
I cannot confirmed for active watch but the Galaxy Gear S3 is working perfectly...
I'm using Samsung pay and Samsung store without any issue.
I had to install wearable apk via aurora store and everything went fine...
