Hi all,
I have successfully rooted and installed CM12 on my Motorola Moto G 4G. I was unable to get into recovery so I download ROM manager to boot into recovery and thats how I installed CM12.
CM12 is stuck in a boot loop so I want to install CM11 or go back to Stock but I cannot get into recovery now. If I boot up with power and vol down I am taken to a fastboot screen which has an option to goto recovery (second option down) but this simply boots back into the device.
I was using CMW but I installed TWRP and now this simply takes me to a blank screen (or it could be powered off).
Can anybody advise how I can boot into recovery? (I am still able to use fastboot commands).
Thanks!
Just find a working recovery image and flash it (TWRP 2.7.1 works for me), also make sure you are using the right controls in the fastboot menu, they're tricky
Use fastboot to reflash recovery. After a successful flash, use the button combo on the fastboot screen to boot into recovery.
Hey guys, just flashed a custom recocery to my P8 Lite device,
http://forum.xda-developers.com/p8lite/development/testing-twrp-2-8-7-x-huawei-p8lite-qcom-t3187758
I have flashed this file using ADB fastboot - fastboot flash recovery folder/image.img
all went well, rebooted and booting into the custom recovery all fine, but when rebooting, and trying to enter recovery again using the POWER BUTTON + VOL UP buttons, it loads the stock recovery. It seems the only way I can get into the custom recovery again is using
adb reboot recovery
Is this normal? Is there a way I can ALWAYS enter the custom recovery using the phone buttons and without the need for a PC?
Thanks
Ok so weird I figured it out, everywhere it says press the POWER + VOL up keys to enter recovery. But for me (and I dont know why) its press the POWER and hold down VOL UP + VOL DOWN keys. Gets me into the KIRIN custom TWRP recovery
I do however have another question, Do I need to flash specific custom recovery images for the phone? Or can I flash any custom TWRP recovery images?
Thanks!

While your phone is plugged into a computer with a USB cable, hold down volume down + power until your phone enters the bootloader. From there, flash the TWRP from this thread:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/honor-8/development/twrp-t3566563
After flashing, hold down volume up and reboot with 'fastboot reboot'. Once you see your phone is booting message, let go of volume up and it should load TWRP. If it freezes and doesn't load after 3-5 minutes, try the official TWRP from twrp.me (for Marshmallow devices) since your Nougat flash may be messed up. If neither works, then flash the stock recovery from bootloader and follow the instructions to do a force-update with the full stock system image.

Mine won't boot to TWRP and when I use the EMUI boot screen its saying it can't connect to Huawei erecovery servers. So I can't even wipe the root at this point. Any ideas?
Many Thanks!

Well this worked for me, after a day of googling. the twrp-3.1.1-1-frd.img worked, it may have been following the instructions about "fastboot reboot, while holding the volume up.

Hi,
If I used the official TRWP 3.1.1 first and it didn't work, can I just go ahead and flash the TWRP using the modified twrp.img at the above link to see if that works?
I used the official TWRP app to flash a recovery, I think I must have selected the option to flash to boot?, because when I go to TWRP nothing will mount, such as system. When I go to the reboot option, even selecting power off, all that ever happens is a reboot back to twrp.
Any fix for this> Thanks
EDIT: I fixed it by going to ADB and using fastboot boot twrp.img
which temp boots recovery and flashed rom that way. Somehow it worked, now all is back to normal.
twrp installed successful ...
after that if am trying to go to recovery ...it will open stock recovery (comes with phone)
please solve my problem ..
mobile: moto e3 power

When you flash TWRP, after it flashes, you then have to boot into recovery before you boot to any of your device's other modes, if you allow the device to boot into any other mode BEFORE booting to recovery, it will revert back to stock recovery. The very next thing you have to do after flashing TWRP is to boot immediately into recovery before you do anything else, then it will keep TWRP recovery.
Flash the TWRP recovery via fastboot, then type the command:
adb reboot recovery
Or
Flash TWRP via fastboot then disconnect the device and power the device off, then press and hold the correct button combination to boot into recovery.
