Both failed and now even if I press volume button and power button, the page with boot options does not turn up. However phone works good. I wish to install a custom rom. Please help

Installing TWRP Recovery - few questions, please help

Hi,
Some could be newbie questions, please forgive. I tried my best to search and find answers.
Currently I am running on latest Stock ICS update with no Root. I am thinking of installing TWRP ported by rayman(http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1759452). I read the whole thread and its been suggested as Okay to flash latest .zip using CWM to get the TWRP.
Since I am still in stick Recovery,
a) Is it still okay to simply flash the zip file using recovery? will that replace the stock recovery and get the TWRP?
b) I assume Root isn't needed for flashing TWRP, or am I wrong?
Also my Volume UP isn't working, that's main reason I am bit hesitant to play with different recovery as we does need to Power + Volume UP in some cases (though most case we use Power + Volume Down).......Can some one having much experience clarify as how important to have Volum Up working?
Thank you.
use Peri or one of the other tools to get root and recovery.....you will need root and a base recovery other than stock to really get Twrp. You may need to use a different root method if the V+ is required though.
........look on the Playstore for the "reboot recovery" app that will do the job for you without the V+ or Flash a Rom with a "reboot recovery" option in the power menu.
Once you have root id suggest getting "ota rootkeeper" from the Playstore aswell.

[Q] Boot into Clockwork Recovery mod

Hi,
I am trying to flash my LG P500 to Cyanogen Mod 9 and the manual I found stated, that I should partition my SD card using Clockwork mod.
So I found ROM Recovery app in Google Play and installed it. Afterwords I downloaded Clockwork Flash using ROM Mangager app and everything seems OK.
But when I try to boot to clockwork mod, my phone is always being flashed into factory default.
I power off the phone, press vol down, home and power on buttons - the phone starts up, an animation of white box and android logo beside shows (with a progressbar at the bottom) - I think this is because of installed clockwork - then I release those 3 buttons I was holding, but the phone simply resets itself into factory default.
I also tried to hold those buttons all the way, until some "DOS-like" screen shows up, but the phone keeps rebooting itself.
The next thing I tried was to boot into recovery using ROM manager app, but it also did not work - I don't know, if it should boot into recovery by itself or I should press those 3buttons (vol down, home, power on/off)
Could you help me, what am I doing wrong?
thanks
It sounds like your phone is not rooted. Follow the sticky topics in this section for how to root your phone. Start with this one:

Once you have root, install clockworkmod again. Then, you'll have success.

no, my phone is already rooted
That's the stock recovery, that means ClockworkMod Recovery did not flash properly. See if you granted SuperUser rights to ROM manager, and check the SuperUser app if you had mistakenly checked 'Remember Choice'.

Dont use Rom Manager.
You dont have recovery installed.
Find some other way to flash recovery.. there are many in this forum.
I suggest you use Rom Manager to download CWM and then boot into cwm .
I suggest http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1827723
This is safe for installing custom recovery.
Thanks to Shinobisoft.
Use AmonRA recovery. Works flawlessly for all roms in this forum.

I'm trapped in a phone's uncomplete rom

hi i have gfive g9 handset and i rooted it and installed recovery in it, it was working fine and i flashed some custom roms in it too, they all went fine.
but
until now, i found a custom rom and installed it, problem is that this rom has no file manager in it, no keyboard, only google voice keyboard which is not working
and this phone doesn't go in recovery mode by hard keys combinations, it has to rebooted from some apps into recovery then it goes into recovery.
and this phone also don't have gapps in it
so i'm stuck, i can't go in recovery, can anyone tell me how can i access it's adb shell from my pc and give it command to reboot in recovery please?
You know there is a guide in the same section where you posted your question.

Blu Elite 3.8 CWM Problem...

Hello Forum people:
I have a strange problem with my Blu Elite 3.8, aka karbonn a9.
I have followed the Karbonn A9 process of rooting and it worked perfectly.
But ater following the CWM installation to the letter I cant seem to get the phone into CWM recovery using the key combinations.
Things I have tried:
I've installed various versions of CWM getting the same results.
Tried different key combinations such as Power+Volume UP, Power+Volume Down, Power+Volume Up + Home
I can report a workaround, install CWM Rom Manager from playstore, then I open the app and it inmediatly wants to install a CWM version for your phone model.
Naturally I choose the last option: "Not Listed"
then the app asks if you have installed CWM manually, I choose yes.
I can now reboot into CWM via the CWM app but I really wish I could to this without booting into the rom itself.
Sure I can install custom roms but if i end up with a faulty/non working rom im screwed because i wont be able to use the CWM app to boot into recovery to flash a backup.
Any Ideas?

MiUi v5 4.9.12 ROM for HTC One S ville2 (s3 variant)

This is simple guide for HTC One S ville2 (s3 variant) users for installing MiUi rom.
I am new to this but surely can be of some help.
You should have rooted device for installing this rom.
Before this I was having ViperS/C2 5.2.1 (Viper ROM by Team Venom ) as HTC stopped future support for this device. And I was dying to feel the new sense5.
And loved this rom.
Coming to MiUi..
I have installed this rom and surprisingly it surprised me Yes it is quite impressive. No lag. Fast interface. iOS like UI. Impressive quick settings.
here is guide for installing this rom and some problems which I faced in the process.
ROM download link- URL is in attatchment.
(In the above link you will find latest ROM currently 4.9.12 and also flashing guide)
First download the rom.
But wait..DON'T FOLLOW "flashing guide"..Cause here only I faced a major problem.
In the flashing guide you can follow the instructions to unlock bootloader if your device is not rooted.
But don’t install the Flashing kit.
PROBLEM-
In the step: “Installing the kernel” they have asked to connect the device to your computer. After connecting you have to install “kernel.bat” which comes along with the flashing kit.
If you try installing it, it will start the phone in fastboot mode and it will install a custom recovery in your device.
So on my device recovery which got installed was “clockworkmod recovery”. This recovery does not work with ville2. And somehow my previous OS i.e. viper got corrupted.
So when I tried entering into recovery mode, my phone got stuck on “Entering Recovery” screen.
And further when I thought I should drop the plan of MiUi and restarted the phone, it just got stuck on HTC logo screen i.e start boot screen.
So don’t followupper step.
Instead do this.
Download the rom in your Sd card. Do not extract the file.
And save a copy of rom on your computer.
From zip file of rom extract “boot.img”.
Now install Teamwin recovery- URL is in attatchment.
If you want to install recovery in fastboot mode follow instructions given on this link- URL is in attatchment.
After installing recovery enter recovery. (i.e. while phone is off press power+vol down to enter fastboot mode..there you will find an opt for recovery)
Take a backup of your previous rom from option given in recovery.
Wipe cache, dalvic cache and do a factory reset.
After doing this just install the rom file.
(If your rom file got erased don’t panic. In recovery press option “Mount”. From there mount sd card. And from computer copy rom file on your device.)
After installing rom enter in fastboot mode (power button + volume down)
Now on your computer install “venom kernel flasher”- URL is in attatchment.
Now open kernel flasher. Click on Manual tab at top.
Locate the “Boot.img” file which you have extracted from rom zip file.
And flash.
DONE.
ROM installation process completes here.
Now when you first start the phone everything will be in Chinese. Don’t panic. Go into setting tap on general setting tab at top and search for the option having small keyboard icon on its right side. Inside it first option is for language.
FINI.
