[Completed] Trouble flashing recovery.img onto Samsung Galaxy Tab S 8.4 (SM-T705) - XDA Assist

Hello everyone!
I'm new here so if i make any mistakes or this is in the wrong place then I apologise!
So I recently got my hands on the WileyFox Swift which is my first real experience of CyanogenMod (I say real experience because my SO got the OnePlus One so I have had a little play but not much) and so far it has been excellent! I have been using it for less than a week and I am completely besotted.
Anyway, I decided that I was sick of using the Samsung brand of Android on my Tab S 8.4 and I wanted a lot more control and customisation options and I was delighted to see that there is a stable version of CyanogenMod for my version of the Tab S.
I am following the CyanogenMod guide for my Tablet on their website (I'm not allowed to post links yet) and am trying to "install"(?) a TWRP recovery on there so that I can use it to flash the CM Rom. However the cmd process I am using to "install"(?) this recovery image is either failing during the protocol initialisation or it is hanging there and not doing anything.
I have tried a number of things (changing USB ports - I'm not using a hub btw, using zadig.exe to install different USB drivers, rebooting - god the amount of reboots, enabling USB debugging...) but none of them have proved successful.
I have had a look around the internet and there's a high chance I'm looking in the wrong places but it seems as though nobody has tried doing this so i'm completely stuck. Is there an alternative way of loading the recovery image onto the Tab S that doesn't require unnecessarily (?) root the machine?
Again I'd like to apologise if I'm way off the mark with this post, this is my first time so be gentle...
EDIT: Should mention that I'm running Windows 10 Home Edition. 64-bit.

Thanks for this FAQ! Good work! :good:
New to Tab and I've been reading the forums to learn the process on this thing. Completely different than my phone. So here are the things I've got as questions and have been trying to get straight in the notes I'm compiling for myself... maybe they are topics/questions that you can address in the FAQ if you feel they might be helpful to others.
1. What is a general overview of the process for the Tab? For my phone it's straightforward to me, but to newcomers it's confusing, and now the tables have turned for me.
What I've gotten so far:
- Root using Odin
- Flash CWM
- Flash ROMs using CWM, and that from this point on Odin is not necessary???
2. What is Odin? Some sort of tool... what are the reasons one uses it? What is the difference between Odin and Mobile Odin - I think I read that Mobile Odin doesn't increase your flash counter?
3. How does this flash counter work, where is it? How many, if any, times can you flash a custom ROM according to Samsung? What is "bin"? Does Triangle Away remove all traces of custom flashing?
Link I found on Triangle Away: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1494114
4. How does one return to stock for warranty purposes? Will there be signs of having rooted the Tab?
5. What is Kies, what is it for?
Here's a link I came across for info on Download Mode: http://forum.jakar.co/android-hack/1341265231/
That's what I got so far.
Is there any tweaks for camera to record at 60fps 720p?
Thanks for your time

I would flash TWRP if I was you, it's much better in comparison to CWM (says me who is still running CWM on my Tab lol. I have TWRP on my HTC One V though and it's great). I am not that clued up on Odin but to meit seems like just a graphical user interface for using ADB and android SDK to flash instead of using console commands. You do not need to worry much about the process Galaxy Tab 2 is virtually un-brickable.
Tab 2 Question
I am looking into purchasing a 10.1 Tab 2 right now assuming it has the one piece of functionality I'm looking for. The model I have available to me is SGH-I497. However, I can't seem to find a definitive yes or no as to whether the device is capable of voice calls via the GSM radio. I understand that there are a lot of VOIP alternatives but I am specifically looking for GSM based calls. Anyone have any ABSOLUTELY FOR SURE yes or no answer to this?
---------- Post added at 12:23 AM ---------- Previous post was at 12:00 AM ----------
After a fairly extensive search of the forums, I have found that it appears that this model does not support the feature set that I am looking for. As a result, I'll pass on the buy.
no tab 2 camera is a very bad hardware so no software can pimp it but u can try some camera apps from googleplay store these add effects to camera that make it look less *****y

WLAN stands for wireless lan and probably the app you are talking about prevents you from using your data plan for video calls

p6800 problem flashing Slimrom, Carbon, AOSB from PacRom milestone.1.release
Hey Everyone,
Noob here, been using Daniel_HK's Pac Rom as a daily for almost a year now, happy happy, but now I wanted to try Slimrom, smaller footprint, easier on RAM, maybe. Problem is, I can't get latest Slimrom, Carbon, or AOSB to flash with either CWM-6.0.3.0 or CWM-6.0.4.5. Just wondering what kind of diagnostic information to provide and if anyone can offer me some help. I have experience with Odin (took a stock p1000 through Overcome and CM9) and have tried CWM flash and Mobile Odin on the P6800. I try Factory Reset/Wipe Cache/Wipe Dalvik, flash rom, and then try reboot, also try all Wipes, then reboot, try Format System as suggests in the Slimrom FAQ. Not sure what my next step is, really want to try Slimrom or Carbon or OMNI. Any help is greatly appreciated. Big thanks to Daniel_HK and everyone who keeps our beloved P6800 alive.
Bluetooth pan
Trying to get Internet connection on Galaxy Tab 7.7 P6800 from Iphone over bluetooth
In iPhone, there is blue stripe on top saying there is one device connected to modem
In P6800, there is "Used for internet connection of another device" status in Bluetooth Settings under the Iphone (not sure of exact status as it is in Rusian)
But there's no Internet on P6800 (e.g. browser says "no internet connection")
Device is Galaxy tab 7.7 P6800, slimkat Slim-4.4.4.build.8.20-UNOFICCIAL-20141215-1732
File bluetooth-patch2.zip installed (from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2666261 )
From very same iphone, internet sharing over bluetooth works with sony z3 tablet without problems.
Files are transfered to P6800 from windows machine over bluetooth with no problems.
The question is if it is possible to connect to Internet from P6800 over bluetooth?
upd. Actually happens the following.
After connecting, I see in terminal window that interface bt-pan is up, but not ip address assigned to it
after performing commands in terminal with root rights
netcfg bt-pan dhcp
route add default gw 172.20.10.1 dev bt-pan
Internet is working in firefox and chrome browser (but not in embedded browser).
In play market, I can search for application but can not install it, as play market says "waiting for network connection".

Use TWRP instead of CWM. you can get TWRP for p6800 here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2352967 and install it using your CWM

Device is P6800
ROM is Slim-p6800-4.4.4.build.8.20-UNOFFICIAL-20141215-1732.zip
Recovery is TWRP 2.8.x

[Completed] Install CyanogenMod in lenovo A3500-HV

I own a Lenovo A3500 -HV. I have been using it for an year now and it is running KitKat(4.4.2). There is no sign of a newer OS coming to this tab so I have decided to install a new ROM. I decided to go with CynanogenMod but the problem is my device is not listed in the supported devices directory.
I think my device has the minimum requirements to run the OS.
I would like to know if it will be better to install the CyanogenMod or just leave it with kitkat or maybe install some other mods that my tab can support?

T110 bricking after applying e.g. T210 ROM - Why ?
Hello guys
First of all: I am an absolute beginner regarding ROMs etc. and i hope that my question is rightplaced here.
What i would like to understand is the technically background why a device bricks ? When i compare the specs of T110 vs. T210 i can see little or no difference with regards to CPU etc. ( see: https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/comp...msung_SM-T210/BHitems/1023209-REG_1016095-REG )
And second: What about the efforts to bring CM 1x or Lineage xy to this device ? Is there work going on and one has to wait a few month, or isn't there any progress and it would be better to drop this tablet ?
By the way - i havent tried it up to now, because i am in the phase to understand all the tools and procedures, fallback strategies etc. etc.

[Completed] LF Help installing Android to Windows Tablets

Hi
I recently installed Remix OS to my Asus X502C laptop and it all seemed really quick and easy so I decided to try it out on my old Linx 7 Windows Tablet and my iRulu Windows W1005 however I just cannot seem to get it to work.
I can get it installed to either the hdd or a bootable USB drive but when I choose the Android OS to boot from I get varying errors of missing things etc and then it hangs on a black screen.
I have also tried various other Android images listed to work on Windows tabs and other installers; Rufus, the Androidx86 installer 2.4 from a thread on this forum etc..
I can run MEmu no problem on my iRulu but I really would like a dual boot on it or just single boot on the Linx 7, I am a member on the Linx forum and Reddit but the Android discussion seems to be dead on there and guides/files are missing but people have said they have had Android running.
Can anyone point me to something that will work?
Thanks in advance for any help.
