[GUIDE] AT&T LG G2 D800 Lollipop 5.0.2 Root TWRP Xposed - AT&T LG G2

This is a guide for (re-)rooting your AT&T LG G2 D800 running Lollipop 5.0.2, and then installing TWRP and the Xposed Framework.
Prep Work
You will need a D800, a PC, and a USB cable to connect your phone and PC. There's also a few things to check on your phone before we get underway.
Step 1: Make sure that your LG G2 is in fact a D800. Check the back of your phone right under the G2 logo for LG-D800.
Step 2: Make sure your phone isn't already rooted. Search your app drawer for an app called SuperSU. If you have it, open it and tap the Settings tab. Scroll down to Cleanup, and tap Full Unroot.
Step 3: Check which version of Android you're running. Go to your Settings

> open the General tab > select About Phone
> and then select Software Info. Your Android Version is displayed at the top of the screen. If it's not 5.0.2, tap the back arrow, select Update Center > select Software Update > and then select Update Now. If, after the update, you still have an Android version less than 5.0.2, you'll have to wait 24 hours and then update again. For Root Only
If you don't intend to install TWRP or the Xposed Framework, use this guide.
For Root and Xposed
If you eventually want to install the Xposed Framework, the safe way to do it is to install TWRP first. That way, if installing Xposed bricks your phone, TWRP can unbrick it. To get TWRP installed, you actually have to install an older version of SuperSU (v2.46). You can safely update it later.
Step 1: On your PC, go to the LG support website and type D800 in the search bar. A drop down menu will appear; select G2 AT&T - D800. A popup menu will appear; select the Windows download for the USB Drivers. Run the installer to install the necessary drivers. These allow your phone to communicate with your PC when connected via USB cable.
Step 2: Go to your phone's Settings
> open the General tab > select Developer Options > and make sure USB Debugging is ticked. Note: if you don't see Developer Options, select About Phone
> select Software Info > and then repeatedly tap Build Number until the message You are now a developer! appears (see video).
Step 3: On your PC, download Newest root method V03.zip and extract the files to a new folder on your Desktop. Run root.bat.
Step 4: Plug a USB cable into your phone, and plug the other end into your PC. On your phone, view your push notifications and make sure you're in Media Device (MTP) mode. If not, tap Tap for more USB options and select Media Sync (MTP). On your PC, follow the command prompts to root your phone. An older version (v2.46) of the SuperSU app will be installed. Don't update it until after TWRP is installed!
Step 5: On the Play Store, install (D800) LG G2 AutoRec-Lollipop. Open the app and tap Flash TWRP. If it worked right, you now have TWRP on your phone, which is for backing up and recovering your phone in case of brick. Note: If you try to run (D800) LG G2 AutoRec-Lollipop after updating SuperSU, the Flash TWRP button won't work!
Step 6: Before installing the Xposed Framework, you need to make a backup of your phone with TWRP. TWRP is not very user-friendly, so I recommend using TWRP Manager to accomplish this. But first you need to install BusyBox before TWRP Manager will run.
Step 7: With TWRP installed and your phone backed up, you can now use this guide to safely install the Xposed Framework. You want the SDK21 ARM versions. xposed-*-sdk21-arm.zip (*v80 or higher) and xposed-uninstaller-*-arm.zip.
Step 8: If it worked, you should now have the Xposed Framework installed on your rooted D800. Go ahead and update SuperSU to the latest version. If it didn't work, your phone is probably bricked. Don't panic. You can bootload TWRP and flash the Xposed Uninstaller to uninstall Xposed. If that doesn't work, bootload TWRP and restore the phone backup you previously created.

STEP 1 : BACKUP
BEFORE MAKE ANYTHING — IMPORTANT– BACKUP YOUR IMEI NUMBER WITH MTK NVRAM TOOL. YOU CAN ALSO DOWNLOAD IT IN Links other than Needrom:
WHEN INSTALLING THIS ROM YOU LOSE YOUR IMEI NUMBER SO YOU MUST DO THIS: YOU NEED TO HAVE ROOT ON YOUR PHONE AND A RECOVERY INSTALLED LIKE TWRP 2.7
If you come from 4.2.9 Stock Rom you can root it with FRAMAROOT 1.93 –> Then install TWRP 2.7 in mobile unclemtktools with recovery update
PUT MTK NVRAM TOOL.zip into sdcard
ENTER TWRP RECOVERY :
Power off the phone, then do the following:
– Power button + volume button up, to enter the recovery mode.
INSTALL MTK NVRAM TOOL.ZIP FROM SDCARD withouth any wipe. This is a fantastic AROMA TOOL, so you only need to backup your NVRAM, then exit and return to recovery.
ATTENTION: MOBILEUNCLETOOLS DOESN'T RESTORE IMEI IN ANDROID 4.4 SO YOU HAVE TO RESTORE IT ONLY WITH MTK NVRAM TOOL
STEP 2 : INSTALL AOSP ROM
IN TWRP perform a full WIPE –> WIPE–> ADVANCED WIPE–> SELECT
– Dalvik Cache
– Cache
– Data
Return to recovery main interface and Install zip from sdcard:
- Select your ROM FILE.ZIP –> It will launch my installation procedure
- At the end, don't reboot, INSTALL ZIP FROM SD CARD –> MTK NVRAM TOOL.ZIP –> This will launch AROMA –> Restore your NVRAM/IMEI previously saved on your sdcard –> EXIT –> REBOOT SYSTEM
All done, Enjoy your new KitK4tAOSP ROM!! PATIENCE, THE FIRST BOOT IS ABOUT 5 MINUTES.
================================== ATTENTION!!! ==================================
I invite everyone to make a nandroid backup. Only if you have done the backup and you are able to restore the device then you can write me relatively few bugs in the rom or any other problem.
So ATTENTION! … You did not do a Nandroid backup? … You are not able to restore the device? … Well, do not write to me, because I will not answer to you!!

PLEASE NOTE: FOR LOLIPOP 5.0.1 YOU WILL NEED TO FLASH A DEODEXED ROM IN ORDER TO USE EXPOSED FRAMEWORK, PLEASE SEE BOTTOM FOR INSTRUCTIONS.
I DO NOT TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR LOSS OF WARRANTY OR DAMAGE TO ANY DEVICES AS A RESULT OF FOLLOWING THIS TUTORIAL.
QUICK GUIDE (For experienced users)
1. Root Your Device
2. Install Exposed Framework for your device
a. http://forum.xda-developers.com/xposed/unofficial-xposed-samsung-lollipop-t3180960 (For Samsung devices)
3. Install “Hide My Location” http://dl-xda.xposed.info/modules/com.github.marlowww.hidemocklocation_v4_d70206.apk
4. Activate “Hide My Location” module in “Exposed Installer”
5. Reboot and black list “Pokemon Go”
6. Install GeoWhere and start playing
a. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=za.co.epicdev.geowhere
7. Remember to allow “Draw over other apps” for devices with lollipop and above
8. Enable “allow mock locations” in developer options
INDEPTH GUIDE (Need help Rooting Device)1. Download Odin 3.09 and a “Recover Image” (SOME DEVICES MIGHT NOT SUPPORT ODIN, READ TWRP INSTALL INSTRUCTIONS)
2. Find the correct recovery for your device (device model) https://twrp.me/Devices/
3. Put device into download mode (on Samsung devices you will hold VOLUME-DOWN + HOME + POWER BUTTON). You can google “how to put device model into recovery mode” for your device
4. Unzip Odin and double click the Odin3 v3.09.exe to start Odin and you should see a screen like below.
5. Connect your device to the PC and let Odin detect it. Once Odin detects the device the section that says ID:COM will light up blue
6. Click the AP button and then choose the recovery image file that you downloaded. It will have an extension of .img.tar
7. Once the file is loaded, click start
If you get a message saying that the install failed because of FRP lock then enable Allow OEM unlock in developer settings
8. Most devices will reinstate the original recovery on start up so as soon as the device reboots press VOLUME-UP + HOME + POWER to boot into the recovery (some devices may vary - check for your device)
9. (OPTIONAL BUT SUGGESTED) Once you have successfully booted into the recovery, I suggest you perform a backup of your device by touching backups and sliding the bar across to start the process. (If you are unsure, google “team win backing up device”)
If your device gets stuck in a boot loop boot back into TWRP and install SuperSu as instructed bellow and it will fix it self
10. Reboot your device
11. You will now need to root your device. You can google the best method for your specific device, this method will work on most devices including Marshmallow devices.
12. Download “SuperSu” from http://forum.xda-developers.com/apps/supersu/2014-09-02-supersu-v2-05-t2868133 and copy the file to your device
13. Shut your device down and boot back into the recovery again with VOLUME-UP + HOME + POWER or whichever method is supported for your device.
14. Touch install and then look for the file you just copied and select it. Swipe to start installation
15. Clear “Dalvik Cache” and then reboot your device
16. Download Xposed framework for your device (check if your device is 64bit or not)
i. Marshmallow (Samsung devices Note4) ARM https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=24572330218881465
ii. Marshmallow (Samsung ARM64bit devices Note 5, Galaxy s7) https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=24572330218881466
iii. Lolopop 5.1 https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=24566454284190899
iv. KitKat only requires the framework manager apk and doesn’t need flashing http://dl-xda.xposed.info/modules/de.robv.android.xposed.installer_v33_36570c.apk
17 Only if you are above kitkat 4.4: Copy the downloaded file to your device and install it with the recovery the same way you did with the SuperSu file. ( For kitkat 4.4 install the Xposed Insataller in let it install for you by opening the app)
18. Clear “Dalvik Cache” and then reboot your device
19. Download the following app to your device http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=3383776&d=1435601440
20. Install the app
21. Download “Hide mock Location” http://dl-xda.xposed.info/modules/com.github.marlowww.hidemocklocation_v4_d70206.apk
22. Install “Hide Mock Location”
23. Open Xposed Installer and select modules.
24. Enable “Hide Mock Location”
25. Reboot device
26. Open Hide Mock Location app and blacklist Pokemon Go
27. Now you can install GeoWhere and start using the app to spoof your location in Pokemon Go https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=za.co.epicdev.geowhere
aa. Remember to allow “Draw over other apps” for devices with lollipop and above
bb. Enable “allow mock locations” in developer options
For Lolipop 5.0.1 Users
You will need to flash a Deodexed rom in order to use Exposed Framework. You need to find a Deodexed or custom rom for your specific device. XDA (http://forum.xda-developers.com/) is a good place to look. For my galaxy S4 I used a cyanogenmod Custom rom which worked fine but some people might not want a custom rom and therefore require a Deodexed rom.
For those of you who want to install cyanogenmod on a galaxy s4 i9500. Use the following link and then flash the file using the recovery method described above https://download.cyanogenmod.org/get/jenkins/169278/cm-12.1-20160710-NIGHTLY-i9500-recovery.img
You can then flash the required Exposed framework for your device for SDK 22
http://dl-xda.xposed.info/framework/sdk22/
Thanks, I followed the steps and it works really well
Great App!
Thanks, I got it to work. It was tricky with my Huawei because I couldn't get Odin to work on it.
Why does "Allow mock locations" option uncheck as soon as I leave the Developer Optio
Why does "Allow mock locations" option uncheck as soon as I leave the Developer Option tab?
Hi, this happens if you have hide mock location set to whitelist mode and have not specified the correct application to whitelist. Rather use black list mode and only check Pokemon go as shown in the screen shot. Also check to see if the hide mock location module has an update.
Rural areas
This app works really well for people in rural areas that would like to play Pokemon Go. I did have a slight problem when trying to root my mobile but it all worked out in the end. :good: Thank you! I recommend this app. Just follow the instructions carefully.

Disclaimer: YOU ARE DOING THIS AT YOUR OWN RISK. I will not assume any responsibility for your own actions on your phone. Follow the instructions carefully, and ask questions if you're unsure.
Tested way: Magisk Manager patched boot method
Other option: SRS Root reports to root the v12 firmware, though I didn't use this method so I don't know if it works.
Magisk Manager Patched Boot Method
1. Unlock your bootloader (Note: this will factory reset your phone and you will lose all your personal data) To do this:
Enable bootloader unlock inside developer options, accessed by pressing build number 7 times in settings. Thanks @Nao Tomori !
Install adb and fastboot on a computer (Search it, it's available)
Reboot to fastboot mode (Switch off phone, press power and volume up simultaneously. Choose fastboot mode from the menu that appears)
Connect to computer by USB Cable provided
Open a command prompt or terminal and check if fastboot detects your device by typing
Code:
fastboot devices
A device number should appear. If nothing appears, it's a most likely driver problem. Click this button to know more.
Linux doesn't need drivers so try using fastboot in linux. If you really want to do it in windows, try PDANET drivers while connected in fastboot mode. No guarantees. I'm using a linux machine to specifically avoid this hassle

We're now gonna unlock your bootloader. Type
Code:
fastboot oem unlock
and confirm unlock by clicking volume up on your phone.
Reboot and go through all the necessary set-up.2. Download Magisk Manager from here and install the APK.
Make sure you download the latest apk version provided.
Note it says that Magisk itself is not yet installed.
We've only installed the helper app.
3. Flash Patched Boot Image
At this point you have two options: extract and patch your own boot image, or just use my patched boot image. I will assume you pick the second but this REQUIRES that you are on the same v13 06292017 official firmware. PM me if you want to do the first one. Download my patched boot image.
Download
Move the file to a known location that's easy to type (home directory or C Drive)
Reboot to fastboot mode, same as before
Flash with fastboot then reboot
Code:
fastboot flash boot /path/to/patched_boot.img
Code:
fastboot reboot
CONGRATS! Magisk should now be installed and along with it, Magisk's Superuser
Press thanks if it helped you! And/or leave feedback if it worked for you, and if your setup differed from mine. Thanks

1. Xposed Framework (systemless)
Install Xposed framework from within Magisk. Install API24.
Then reboot. This first boot takes really long. I pulled out my battery once, then the next time it successfully booted after a while.
Install topjohnwu's Xposed apk from his systemless Xposed thread.
It will tell you that Xposed is installed but not active yet.
Reboot one last time
2. Dolby Atmos (systemless)
Install from within Magisk. Confirmed working!

hi there bro. i just want to know, is there a custom rom that we can use for this phone? i have the same exact phone but i cannot find any articles about any other custom roms that has been used on this phone. hoping to hear from you. thanks.
And another thing, can we use TWRP for this phone?
Hello. Is there anyone here who has a clean stock rom for Starmobile UP Prime? The phone keeps popping up ads and redirecting to chrome/google play. Contact names sometimes disappear too. I ran the malwarebytes app and it said that "Settings" app is the malware. I downloaded and flashed another rom before (I forgot from what website), but same experience. Hoping for helpful response.

Install Magisk Manager on your phone but dont run it yet.
Enable USB Degugging on your phone.
Install ABD and Fastboot on your PC. It will be installed to c:/adb/
Download the update that matches your phone version to your pc. [Mine was version "WW-32.40.106.41"]
Open the update file on your pc with your favorite zip manager and extract the boot.img .
Put the boot.img onto your phones internal storage.
Follow this guide [Credits to Dhananjay @ thecustomandroid.com]
» Non-rooted devices
Magisk 14.0 introduces a new and neat method to install on non-rooted Android devices. This new process doesn’t require your device to be rooted, nor does it require a custom recovery like TWRP. But for this method to work, your device must have the stock boot.
But for this method to work, your device must have the stock boot.img dump placed in the internal storage.
Make sure that you enable USB debugging and setup ADB access first, you will need it later in the guide.
Download Magisk Manager 5.3.0: Link
When the APK has been downloaded, use a file manager to install it. Now run the app from the app drawer.
Go to the app settings and tap on “Patched Boot Output Format”. You can select “.img.tar” if you will be using ODIN to flash the file or else simply select “.img” for the rest of the devices.

"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
Go back to the app main screen and tap on the “Install” button. Go to INSTALL > PATCH BOOT IMAGE FILE.
Navigate through the storage and select the stock boot.img file. As soon as you select the stock boot.img file, the app will download the installer to patch the image.
Once the process is complete, you can tap on the “CLOSE” button.
Your new and patched boot image now include root and support for modules. So the last step is to grab this boot file and flash it your device via fastboot or ODIN (Depending on the output format you chose in step #4).
Connect your device to the PC via USB cable and navigate to the Magisk Manager folder inside the storage. Your “patched_boot.img” file will be present right there. So copy it to your PC.
Move the “patched_boot.img” file to C:/adb folder. And type in the following command to boot your phone into bootloader/fastboot mode:
adb reboot bootloader
Once your phone enters the bootloader/fastboot mode, enter the command to flash the file:
fastboot flash boot patched_boot.img
Finally, reboot your device:
fastboot reboot
That’s all, you have just installed one of the most trending mod out there and especially on your non-rooted device without any need of a custom recovery. Isn’t it great? Tinker around with the app and see what all things you could do.
I can confirm this is working! Thank you!

I know it's been some time since this was discussed, but I am trying to go through this process. Can you confirm that you unlocked the bootloader on 8.0 with the Asus tool? Or did you install magisk without unlocking the bootloader (if that's possible)?
thanks
I don't think the unlocker tool works anymore.

This will boot the phone into Recovery mode and you should now see TWRP. You will see TWRP no excuses.
9.Now is the best part if anything goes wrong you are literally Fished and I mean it. The screen will be for making TWRP permanent do these steps or your phone won't boot P.S. you can fix any Samsung phone very simply so don't worry
Do these --Select Keep /system RO. Tap Wipe> Format Data and type “yes”.
All what I said is there in screen so do these things perfectly u just need to read everything properly
10. Now go back to the main menu in TWRP and select Reboot> Recovery . Select don't install TWRP app it's annoying I know u can disable it in settings option in twrp
11. After rebooting recovery flash force encryption remover that u downloaded and then after Tap the Install button in TWRP, navigate to the location where you copied the the no-verity-opt-encrypt-6.0.zip and select it. Swipe the installation confirmation slider when prompted
12.Now go back to the main menu in TWRP and select Reboot> Recovery
13.When the device reboots into TWRP, tap the Install option, navigate to the Magisk-v15.3.zip and install it. Or the latest magisk zip file
Magisk will now be installed on your device and it will be rooted the next time you boot it up. If not installed download magisk manager and install APK when you boot up to system
When the flashing is complete, tap Reboot> system.
Congratulations! Your new Samsung Galaxy C7PRO is now out of warranty… err… rooted. Open Magisk to verify if your phone has been properly rooted or not.
