Not impressed with the S7 edge T-Mobile Snapdragon - Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge Guides, News, & Discussion

I just finished a straight week of using the S7 edge with less then stellar results. Before the S7 I had the S6 edge + which I was very happy with but never the less I decided to try the S7 out. Fist off the battery life was less than the S6 edge + on a day to day basis. The screen was super sensitive and became a hindrance to the functionality. Browsing Web pages and scrolling through pages seemed buggy. The phone is heavy and thick, thicker than the S6 edge +. Build quality is going to the S6 edge +. S7 is a step backwards.

No use in posting it here my friend. Go to samsung forum and flame. I use an S7 Edge and is very much happy i upgraded from S6E+

Agree on the battery life and too sensitive screen. I got only 4,5hrs of SOT and many times the phone caused confusing my touch because when holding it recognizes both my finger tip and part of my palm or the other thumb finger on the edge. The camera to me is over saturated and colorful. Not quite impressive!

Hmm. Maybe you guys should downgrade to old camera sensors and old processors.....
That should fix it

Would buying an S7 be downgrading from my Note 5?

I currently have the Note 5 and love it. If I were to trade it in and get the S7 would that be a downgrade even though the phone is newer? Would I be wasting my money? How much better is the camera and performance compared to Note 5?
I'm talking the S7 not the Edge version. I don't like the Edge phones and not interested in them.
The only downgrade is the screen size, everything else is an upgrade. Some will say you lose some detail going from 16mp to 12mp, while true, the upside is you get much better low light performance and insanely quick autofocus.
Did i mention the sdcard and water resistance?

In a few months after the first one or two camera software updates, the camera of the S7 will indeed prove to be an upgrade over the Note 5. The water resistance of the S7 is proving to be iffy at best, so I wouldn't count that as a win.
I should also add I have a Tab s2 8.0 already so traveling and going places I still have a larger device. Would I benefit from the S7 over a note 5 performance wise or is the differences in speed so small you wont really notice it?
No
Just smaller screen
I had note 5 and I traded it in for the SGS7. I still have Note 4 for larger screen. Love the S7.
Well I traded in the Note 5 for a Gold S7 today. I was going to get the Edge but then I compared it to the Note 5 and it's just as big as it almost and didn't justify spending the extra money on it and might as well just kept the note then. the screen isn't tons smaller when putting it up against the Note 5 but the frame of the S7 is A LOT smaller which makes the phone really compact even with a Defender case on it. I'm going to order some tempered glass and a Supcase and a couple smaller cases on Amazon. The Note is a great phone but just was a little too bulky.
The Defender for the S7 is a lot better quality than the Note 5. Stiffer material and the built in screen protector fits more flush than past Defenders. I will order a couple more cases and some glass but I think I might be sticking with the Defender for awhile though!

Samsung Galaxy S7 vs S7 edge

If you had to choose one if your life depended on it, which one would you choose?
I'd say the S7

why ?
One of my friend bought Edge and returned it for the s7 after some days days.
S7 edge is a bit too big. it feels slippery in hand.
There are lots of articles about this too:

I personally went with the smaller S7 simply because it fits better in your hand. I upgraded from a V10, which I only got because of an insane deal, and it's so nice having a phone that fits so easily for one handed use. The only real difference for the edge is obviously the size, and a few edge features that will never really take off. Similar to the S6 vs S6 Edge, the edge features were still kinda meh, and for me personally I kept accidentally screen tapping when the inside of my finger touched the edge.
Looks cool, but it's more a gimmick for looks compared to actual function.
S7 easily. More comfortable in hand and beget one hand usability. I have zero interest in the edge.

I had the Edge, but there were recognition issues when you held the phone and accidentally touched both sides at the same time. It was overly sensitive so I sold my AT&T variant and purchased an international variant S7.
I prefer the small.screen on the s7. I had the s6 edge and hitting things on the side of the screen sucked plus the edge of pictures and games were curved
i like the S7 Edge because of bigger battery life. bigger screen then S7.
also get exynos 8890 CPU for better speed, performance and better battery life.
but if you want to save money and want a smaller screen or more easy in the pocket then get S7.
should go to Samsung shop and look for your self which one you like. but if you ask me then i recommend S7 edge.
i moved from a v10 to s7. loved my v10 but it was not giving me good battery life only thing that saved it was the swappable battery. moved to the s7 because of the curved back easier one handed use, micro sd card slot, and slightly bigger battery. i get about 5 hours SOT if i use the phone close to 10% which is good for me. I wanted to edge but at the end of the day im just looking for something comfortable in the hand and something i can easily put in my pocket.
I have the regular s7 but had the Edge for two weeks. I'm no stranger to big phones as I'm coming from a Note 5, but if you don't put a thick case on the Edge you touch and activate things that you don't mean to when handling it with one hand!
I'm happier with the regular S7
I went yesterday to a phone shop and took both S7 and S7 edge in the hand. I felt that S7 is way better in the hand esspecially when you try one handed use. Also I did feel that S7's screen is big enough for me at least. I had a LG G4 and while the phone was confortable to hold when it came to one handed use it was hard to reach the whole screen so I'm done with big phone. I didn't like the edge variant because it look like a streched phone and that is not so pleasing to my eye. Also it's harder to find a glass screen protector for the edge and genereally they don't look so good. One other thing: the reflection of the shops lights in the edge were annoing. Don't know how is it in natural light but when there is artificial light around you will get nasty reflections. I will get the S7 for sure.
I bought the S7 because 5" screen sized phones are best for my hands. 5.5" and beyond are just too big for me; and 4" and below are way too small. If my hands were a little bit bigger, I might have considered buying the S7 Edge instead, so yeah, between S7 and S7 Edge, I purchased the S7.
I have chosen the s7 one although my last 4 phones were 5.5 inches. I am not dissapointed for my choise.
The Samsung Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge both phone came with best specification like dust and water resistant, upto 200GB expandable memory, stunning camera and larger battery galaxyS7 had a 3000mAh battery while S7edge had 3600mAh battery.
I don't like the display distortions on the edge and don't find the edge functions necessary.
If you go to the edge forum they'll say the exact opposite
S7 edge for the design appeal, the bigger battery and the bigger screen.

Midnight Comparison Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge vs S5

Hello all!
Here is my comparison test between S7 Edge and the S5 in the night comparison (completly dark).
The S7 Edge is using Isocell sensor. And the results are awesome!
Leave my comments here, what do you think about that!
https://youtu.be/A-aHbMwLbjs
Galaxy S5 is still got good camera. IF YOUR looking for a bargain
In my opinion, the S7 Edge is a lot of better. I think, that videos will be in 80% the same (because S5 have good lowlight manage too, isocel sensor and more...), but when I saw the results (how you can see on my video) I stay amazed! I don't think that differences between this two phones can be so big.

Who thinks the S8 looks better or worse than the G6?

So far all the leak photos make the s8 look quite cheap and plasticky IMHO. I also think the G6 looks a lot like the Note 5.
How does glass looks cheap and plastic?
I like actually like the G6 better, and because it actually has flat screen, I use S7 edge now and it pain the the ass sometimes with my big meat paws, and the S8 looks too tall and skinny. doesn`t look right. lol
after today its not clear which is better
I agree, Samsung is forcing high price Curved only model, millions of people might be stay away when they know S8 available only with curved screen
Nothing wow'd me about the S8 so I'll stick with my S7 Edge.
I am S7 user and I loved flat screen front and curved back, I don't see any technical advantage of having curved screen, also as always UK and maybe Europe version is NOT available with Snapdragon 835, another bad piece of design is position of fingerprint scanner, iris is ok but not a huge advantage, I have doubt that 3000 mAh battery will be not be class leading or better than S7, Bixby is completely gimmicks, Camera review is not out yet but on specs wise it's same apparatus & pixel size and I doubt that Samsung will try to make same old hardware better by optimising and twining software only, No sound DAC, PC attachment is also nothing new as we seen it already, I will wait for full review and see how S8's camera and battery perform, compare with £689 price range Huawei P10 plus, LG G6 or Oneplus 3T 128GB, Dual SIM Midnight black 'limited addition' is also a looker, Best of luck guys
I was on the fence of getting either the G6 or S8. I'm not a big fan of the edge screen. I had the S7 edge and my big hands always touched the screen. With that said, I'm going to order the S8 over the G6. For the simple reason is price and newer specs. If I don't like the curved screen I'll just sell it or return it if Verizon offers the free restocking when our based online.

It clearly looks better than the G6 to me

Neither is great tbh. But the S8 has then "edge" for now. I'll wait and see the weeklong ownership reviews before I decide. Who knows, the note 8 might be the phone to get when it drops this year, but when?

The S8's could win beauty contests including Victoria's Secret! : cool:
I prefer the one that doesn't have curved screen.
Currently have the G6 and it is a fantastic phone. Never used a phone with an 835 SOC as have neither of you so I cant say which is Faster. But the G6 is certainly smooth, and that flat screen is Awesome for glass screen protectors. But, IMO the LCD panel (which looks good) is nothing compared to the Oled samsung panel (subjective, yes). It seems im turning the brightness up to 60%+ just to feel comfortable using it, Its too dim otherwise. Previous phones Ive been able to keep the brightness on 30-40% and been happy (inside of course) Having had the 6P, S7 and OnePlus 3T with the amoled panels, this LCD on the G6 just doesnt do it for me. I personally even think the LCD on the iPhone 7+ looks better and Im not an iPhone fan. Also, and maybe this is over critical, I feel like the edges of the G6 display all leak a bit of light, especially the top. For some reason it just drives me crazy (OCD? ) So Im giving the G6 to one of my kids and getting the S8+

Same thing here the G6 might look nice compare to older models but is not doing for me.
I've been to my local VZW store and they are both on display. While I like them both, I feel the S8 is the better of the two. The sleekness of the S8 is amazing. It feels better than my pixel in my hand. The display is awesome. I'm ordering mine tonight from Verizon. There is not a restocking fee when you order on line. So if I don't like it back it will go. I'm pretty confident I'll love it. The only thing that will ruin it is poor battery life.

I went from a S7E to a V20 and the first thing I noticed was the huge downgrade in screen quality. I'm happy to go back to Samsung.
I've only seen the G6 online and in videos, so I can't comment on the hands-on take, just yet anyway. I was honestly a lil concerned when I saw that the S8 was ONLY going to have a curved display, as I'm used to my flat display on my S6. Feeling the S8 firsthand, it honestly doesn't feel bad at all to me. Feels very similar to what holding my S6 feels like. Unlike the older Edge models, the sides aren't pronounced, like they don't feel as thin. For instance, the S6 Edge was too thin and not that comfortable to hold, and while the S7 Edge improved on it, the flat variant felt better.
From what I've seen with the G6, it doesn't look like a bad phone and it probably doesn't feel bad in the hand, but Samsung pushing the curved displays on both their regular and plus variants this time around, seems a bit more innovative and honestly, look way more sleek and futuristic. Flat displays are the standard as we know it since the first smartphones hit the market, so they all start to look the same -- I mean, how much can you really innovate on a flat display?
If your frame of reference for feel and usefulness of curved screens is the S7 Edge you are in for a welcome surprise. I have big hands and was frustrated from day one by the occasional (several times a day) false edge screen touch on the S7 Edge. Luckily (and unluckily) I broke my S7 Screen. When I took it in for replacement, they offered me the Note7 for the same cost as a S7 Edge. So I got the Note 7. Night and day difference in the feel and false touch rejection with the Note7. In the month or two I had a Note7 i think I got accidental edge activation a couple times. On the S7 it was multiple times per day. The phone also feels better in the hand, curved front and back feels so much better than curved front and flat back. My guess is that the S8 will be even better than the Note7 in feel and false touch rejection. And that will be a great thing.
Sold my G6. It's not that great of a device imo. Ready for the S8+. Device of the year until the Note 8 comes out.

The LCD is specifically the reason why I went with the S8. I don't think I can go back after having 2 back to back phones with OLED.

from an s7 to ?

hi guys so i have had an s7 currently
i always root a phone for no ads youtube websites etc and install nova launcher
i always root also with a stock android rom like i have with my s7 currently
im wondering should i come across to the pixel 2?
i did want a pixel 2 xl but with the screen issues im thinking maybe just the px2 bcos samsung make that screen and lg do the 2 xl.
in the past ive gone
.iphone..n8 ..s4..s5...oneplus2..s7...??
so what do you guys think should i jump ship
and is the 2 xl really that bad with screen issues?
Hi,
I moved from S7(att&t non root) to Pixel 2 (non XL) and here my 2¢
1. Camera Quality higher than S7, Night shots and Portrait mode really shows you the difference.
2. Faster and smoother than S7 this may due to my S7 is with att&t crap-ware ( I have already disabled most of the apps and installed adhell to get rid of ads in my S7)
3. Google's 3 year software support and dev friendly.
I brought Pixel 2 mostly because of its Camera and I am satisfied.
I moved from an S7 to a Pixel 2 and it's the best decision I made. The camera is great in low light and even better when the lighting is good. The colour reproduction is fantastic in photos and pictures are sharp, clear and vibrant. I always installed Nova Launcher as I did on my S7 but with the Pixel I haven't wanted to. The launcher is very quick and the squeeze function is actually great - I've used assistant more now, than I ever have in the last year and I've only had the phone less than a week.
I have seen a lot of screen burn in issues with the XL but that device was too big for me so I didn't even look at it! The regular Pixel 2 was the right size for me.
Moved from an S7 At&t version that I flashed the unlocked software onto to get rid of the bloat. While that helped the S7 it still had hiccups, slow downs and the dreaded Touch Wiz lag no and then.
With that said the Pixel 2 is almost identical in size with a slightly smaller screen. There is NO COMPARISON on how well the Pixel 2 runs, it's smooth, fingerprint is instant there is such a difference in the overall speed of this phone over the S7. Hardware to software optimization is quite apparent with the Pixel, you will never regret leaving the S7.
I came from an s6 and wow what a difference same screen size but half as thick and so light I love it and everything about it
You guys are making feel really good about choosing the P2 over the S8. My wife and I are coming from the S5, I know it's super old. But I'm feeling really good about the decision to get the P2. I keep saying that I'm not going to worry about Root/Unlocked Boot Loader, but I know about 6 months from now I'll jump in on it. Just hope a lot of Devs get on board with this device.
Former S7 edge owner
I have actually gone from an S7 edge, it was getting noticeably laggy (to me anyway).
With a decent leather flip case (the kind I always put on my phones) size wise it is about the same as the S7 which I found right for my hands and fingers, definitely lighter. The screen is a little smaller due to the bezels but the speakers are far better and it's much snappier. Fingerprint scanner is oceans ahead of the Samsung one.
Software wise I always put Nova on as well and it works as expected, oddly with the squeeze function I find myself actually using the Google assistant and it is pretty useful and versatile.
Bluetooth works well, and battery life is pretty good, better than my S7 but unsure if thats due to the newer battery, fast charge is what I would expect it to be.
I got a 128gb one and its doing well with regards to installed apps and the amount of spotify tunes I tend to load on.
Overall I would say it's a good option to move from an S7 without getting something stupidly large, the reason I didnt go for an XL.
