Remove Cyanogenmod apps like Camera, Browser and Screencast? - Moto G 2015 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I'm exactly the opposite of most people that actually want CM apps, I'd like to remove them, I really like Moto's stock camera instead of "Camera", and Chrome instead of "Browser", and see no point in "Screencast", would it be possible to remove them?
Also, is it possible to remove Hangouts? I downloaded Opengapps Mini because it suited me best, but the only app I'd like to remove from it would be hangouts, would it be possible?
Thanks

Use Titanium Backup app for freezing or even uninstalling the system apps

Titanium Backup Bloat Freeze

When trying to remove bloat from my phone with titanium backup I freeze the apps. After freezing them they still are in the app drawer and in the market. I can't open them up or anything anymore, but do anyone else know if there is a special setting or something I need to use to get it out of the app drawer?

That's because freezing only prevents the app from running, it doesn't do what you're thinking it does. You can disable apps you don't want in Settings -> Apps -> All if you still want to keeps the apps around on your phone (but hidden from the app drawer) or you can uninstall them directly from Titanium Backup
On my previous phone freezing hid the apps from the drawer AND it explicitly says when you freeze them that they are now hidden from the app drawer. It is supposed to hide it like its uninstalled but be easy to unfreeze. That's the whole point of it...

Obviously I don't know as much as I think I do
Well if nothing else your post let's me know that others are experiencing the same problem even if they don't realize it is a problem?
Which apps? Everything I've frozen with Titanium gets removed just fine from the app drawer. This includes all the AT&T bloat: anything with "AT&T" in it, MOG, Top HD Games, Yellow Pages, and a couple others.
All of that crap. For example I have all the ATT stuff frozen but they still show up.
1 did you specify any different settings for titanium?
2 what launcher are you using? I'm looking in launcher pro
Nevermind updating appears to have fixed the problem.

Is it ok to remove system apps, AOSP?

I like to keep things as slim as possible and could do without the likes of gmail, Email, holo launcher, apollo, dsp manager and a few others but will removing these bring other bugs?
I have never had a problem removing some of the apps you listed. You can always install them if you change your mind
There's a thread around here in this section that has a list of apps that are OK to erase and the others you shouldn't. If you want to erase, grab Rom Cleaner, cleans out the bloatware and from there you can just freeze any app with Titanium Backup that you don't want. Still keeps it in memory so that it won't crash the phone, but removes it from sight. Seeing as you want to slim down, hopefully this helps.

How to remove google search?

I don't care about bar on home screen. I need to remove app from system. for some reason it's crashing my nexus (camera app). When I unistall it with titatium backup or root unistaller it still comes back after reboot.
How to do it?
Have you tried using a different launcher?
I don't think you can.. But I think it might be because Google search is try to geotag your photos. Go into settings and turn off location, or just location for Google search, and see if that works.

I'm using launcher 3 (cm11)
I dont think that geotaging is the problem. I dont turn on location on camera. And camera app crashes ONLY if I make whotos with flash (phone turns off completly), after remove google search using titanum backup everything works great

Try this one: App Master (Uninstall Master)
Works fine for me.

[Q] Restore Google Now Launcher

I accidentally cleared my Google Launcher settings, and it restored to the default. I lost all my folders and widgets. Is there a way to restore my previous settings?
Thanks!

If you didn't backup then you can't restore anything.

Not retrospectively! If you didn't back up your settings before wiping then there is nothing you can do now!
As for future backups, you can only do this through third-party apps at the moment. Something like Helium or TB, but most backup apps require Root as well
As far as I know you can't backup your homescreens, only the Google Search settings.
Although if you use the XGELS module and have bought premium, you can backup icons/folders. Backing up widgets is impossible, however.

What do you use for backing up Homescreen/HS apps

Merry Holidays all!
Just like the title asks: what do you use for backing up Homescreen/HS apps.
I like to clean wipe for custom Roms and use TiBu for apps/data mostly. I do use it for a couple systems apps, but thats about it. However, no matter what, I can't get my apps and folders restored to Google Launcher/Home screens.
Is there a way?? Thanks

3rd party launchers like Nova or Apex got this function build in and if I am not wrong, if you install Google Launcher afterwards it will ask you to import from other launcher (?), that would be one way. I am not aware of any other.
Google Now Launcher does not allow backup up and restoring of homescreens to storage or from other launchers, at all. Only most other launchers have such functionality.
If you have Xposed, however, the XGELS module (I think it also needs premium via an in-app purchase) lets you backup and restore homescreen data (excluding widgets) of Google Now Launcher to your internal storage. This is the only way.
I was afraid of that. Thank you. Have a great day.

My google now launcher asked me to restore from my home screen (stock android I think) once I installed clean the factory image. It took all folders etc.
Hence not sure if u could load from 3rd party to stock android somehow?

Oh yeah. That's if you have app data synced to Google, then it might sync that too.
But, no way to export/import/store it yourself except with Xposed.

Thanks.. I'll do a sync before a factory reset next time and see how it goes. I've been trying out Nova Launcher too. Strange Google doesn't have this feature built in...
