How do I turn my VZW into a normal phone? - Verizon HTC One (M8)

Hi,
A couple of years ago I bought my HTC One m8 via eBay. It did say it was a VZW one, but me not being a US citizen nor living in the US, it didn't set off any alarm for me...
And so it took me by surprise that I am unable to tether my internet connection via bluetooth nor wifi, and that VZW went the extra mile to disable the FM receiver. Further more, living outside the US, I'm still running the Kitkat version, since no OTA update can reach me
And now to my actual question - I have bought a sunshine licence and got it running but I am not sure what are the next steps. My goal is to get the regular stock ROM (perhaps still rooted), so ill be able to enjoy FM, tethering and regular updates.
I'll much appreciate your help, and though I'm sure this kind of question has already been asked, I was unable to find it.
Thanks,
Saar.

If you are on KitKat you can get S-OFF using sunshine.
If you already bought a license then you may already be S-OFF. Check in bootloader. Power down device. Then turn back on using volume down + power to check in bootloader.
If you are S-OFF you can update to latest Android 6.0 Marshmallow, and flash a stock rooted ROM to enable tethering.
You could flash the RUU or flash firmware + ROM.

Thank you!
I'm also unable to connect to the LTE network, so I'm on 3G. What should I be looking for, if I want an RUU (I'm a total noob around the whole flashing and ROMing territory... seems to me the RUU is the "safer" bet), FM, tethring, LTE, and preferably staying with Sense? I read a bit about the GPe port, but I guess it wouldn't have Sense.
I'm sorry if that's the wrong place to ask.
Thanks!

I'm not sure about LTE, as you're not on Verizon network.
but GPe ROM is great now that we have the Marshmallow firmware.
FM Radio was removed from Verizon devices, but great Devs have gotten it working again I do believe.
Anyway, IF you are S-OFF, which you haven't confirmed yet, but I am going to assume you are, as if you aren't you shouldn't have any issues getting to S-OFF (and for $25 it's very much worth it).
Ok, once you are confirmed S-OFF, you want to flash the new MM firmware.
This can be found here.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=62734094&postcount=2
flash this one:
"6.21.605.3_FULL_firmware.zip"
You will need an SD-Card or know how to use adb - guide will be in thread I linked above.
After you are on the latest firmware, you want to fastboot flash the latest TWRP custom recovery found here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2717928
Then you can flash a stock MM ROM, a GPe ROM, or a custom MM ROM.

This is because you only flashed the Marshmallow firmware, but are not on a Marshmallow ROM.
You want to hold volume up + volume down + power for about 10-15 seconds, the phone will reboot, let go of all except volume down, this will get you back into bootloader.
Now you will need to flash the TWRP custom recovery I linked to you above.
Then in TWRP recovery you will flash the Marshmallow ROM of your choice.
There are a number of great ROMs out that support Marshmallow, and I'll be kind enough to link you all of them.
Lyapota Jazz #10 Marshmallow - SENSE ROM
- Lyapota is one of the nicest and smartest Developers.
-- his MODs are found in many many ROMs, including mine, he used to put out MOD Packs, but now he releases ROMs, and they are top notch, I highly suggest one of these
Lyapota Blues #021 Marshmallow - Google Play Edition ROM
- again one of the best ROMs you can flash, this one is Google Play Edition, the one above this is Sense.
Google Play Edition Marshmallow 6.0 MRA58K.H10
- stock based ROM ported from the HTC One M8 Google Play Edition Phone with Verizon support.
Pure Stock Verizon Marshmallow ROM
- stock pure ROM made from the latest Verizon Marshmallow OTA
-- the best choice if you want something stock
ViperOne Marshmallow
- one of the most customization Sense ROMs ever made.
-- also is very stable, but this has basically every tweak you can dream or think of, worth messing around with.

I need more info, how are you flashing the ROM. is it saying successful after flashing, which ROM are you flashing? are you wiping before?
I just put the rom onto a sdcard, find the rom on sdcard in TWRP, wipe and flash.
as long as you are on the correct MM firmware, and one of the linked MM ROMs there won't be any issue.
I've tested each ROM I posted for you to make sure to run into as little issues as possible.
that or you can always flash the RUU

Thats the ROM: http://forum.xda-developers.com/ver...ment/rom-vzw-stock-gpe-5-1-lmy47o-h9-t3212413
Does it matter if I put it on the internal or external storage?

i read online this error has something to do with the TWRP version, so i downgraded and it went away...
any how, I tried another ROM first, (dont remember which one now) and it seemed to work. It booted, asked me a couple of questions, and then went crazy, so I wiped it.
But now i cant seem to be able to copy the lypota zip to the SD card. Windows says it seems as if the device is unplugged or unresponsive... I made sure to wipe beforehand, but no luck.

You want the latest TWRP3.0.0
If you can't figure out how to flash ROM, ID suggest running the RUU so you at least have a working device.
:good:

OK.
So I switched back to the latest TWRP, and was able to upload lyapota's ROM and flash - and finally it worked!!!!! ? I'm not sure what the problem was with previous ROMs, but I'm happy it finally worked out.
Walking to University, listening to live FM radio and being able to share my mobile data with my tablet... Finally I got what I paid for.
Thank you!

[Q] Install 4.2.2 official google ROM on HTC One 802w

First off, I'd like to say thank you in advance for any help I receive. I'm not an expert by any means at this - I would consider myself amateur at best!
I'm fairly desperate at this point - I've been trying for days to solve this myself by following various tutorials and forums, but have had no luck, so I'm really hoping someone here is willing to help me out!
What I've been trying to do:
Install official Google 4.2.2 Jellybean on HTC One 802w Dual sim model.
Current State of phone:
The phone is currently rooted and has clockwork mod installed and SuperSu 1.65 and has moonshine installed. However, I've had absolutely no luck in finding or flashing a 4.2.2 ROM onto the phone. I cannot find a ROM to match the phone - all the zips I download from this thread - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=43177948&postcount=369 say that they're corrupted and can't be copied to the phone or extracted. I find this really weird as I've checked the MD5 with HashCalc and they match. I have searched around other sites but cannot for the life of me find a ROM that works.
If it isn't possible to install the official Google ROM, I would be ecstatic if someone were to guide me through the process of restoring the phone to a complete factory state. I downloaded a supposed recovery img file for this phone, however it doesn't seem to work, so I flashed clockwork back on instead.
If anyone can help me with either of these things, I would be EXTREMELY grateful - I've reached a point where I'm at a complete loss on what to do.
Thank you very much for your time

Dear Scott,
I was looking for a way to install a Google Play Edition on my HTC One 802w when I stumbled upon your post.
Although I cannot help you with your primary goal, as I have not found a way to do it myself, I think you may have a chance to get your phone back to work installing an alternative ROM.
I have a MaximusHD (http://llabtoofer.com/2013/07/23/htc-one-dual-sim-maximushd/) running on my phone, and it is pretty customizable; but it is not a stock ROM.
I hope my advice will be of some use for you.
If you find a way to flash a Google Edition ROM on the 802w, please, post it for us here.
Good luck!
Me too, looking for alternative custom ROM for this model. I had to buy this model which comes from China Unicom which is not sold in my country (Malaysia) because i really need a good dual sim phone. I read thru the Maximus HD had some issues with dropped calls and Bluetooth connection sometimes not stable. Is there other custom ROM out there that I can try? Really hate all these chinese apps taking up space on this phone.

Anything you flash from this thread is done AT YOUR OWN RISK!!
I will not be held responsible if something from this thread breaks your device!
Now that that's out of the way, here are the details:
ROM Features:
- Recovery-Flashable (TWRP Recommended)
- Rooted (SuperSU 2.65)
- Forced encryption disabled
- dm-verity disabled
Instructions:
- Unlock Bootloader
- Flash TWRP
- Format Data in TWRP to remove encryption (Wipe -> Format Data -> type "yes")
- Reboot Recovery
- Copy ROM of your choice to device over USB
- Flash ROM zip
- Reboot device (device will reboot once automatically at the beginning of the boot animation to install SuperSU)
- Profit!
IMPORTANT NOTES:
- You cannot use the external SD card as internal storage, because that would require dm-verity to be enabled, which isn't possible on a custom ROM.

Is what for Sprint only? There are two ROMs.
Sprint Edition is for Sprint (obviously). Dev Edition is for GSM. There's also an AT&T RUU on the HTC site, but I haven't downloaded it. Hopefully someone else can do that and build their own ROM (one of the points of this thread).
That's what I needed to know. I still can't get it to go bast first boot image. It reboots after 6-10 seconds then never comes back on. I'm unlocked, supercid, on 1.12.617.6. Followed directions about wipe and format, flashed. Still nothing. I'll backup and punt for now. I tried numerous times.
My bad, just realized there is a deodexed version. Works great!
I've the same issue as Isun06.
Tryed the HIAE_DEV_EDITION_1.55.617.4_ROOTED_CPTB-deodex.zip and also HIAE_DEV_EDITION_1.55.617.4_ROOTED_CPTB-odex.zip on a European model (2PQ910000). It's S-Off and bootloader unlocked, Super-CID. MID changed to 2PQ912000.
I followed also the directions, but unfortunately it didn't work. I restored my backup which is working.

my previous reply, was luckily deleted, by me fortunately pressing f5,
"it didn't work", "it doesnt work", are not the most useful of statements, so 2 choices
start logging, from the recovery flash, the kmsg/ramoops (whatever this device uses), etc
you should also include what firmware you are running and so on and so forth,
seriously, people, the OP just released this a few hours ago, and he get's, yet another "it doesnt work" post?? -__-
what device do you have (specific, not vague)
getvar all (excluding IMEI, MEID, serial number)
what firmware are you running
has the ROM flashed properly in recovery
is the kernel in place
logcat, kmsg, etc
etc
if YOU want to help, i'm sure it would be appreciated, but the OP need specifics and exact details
I'm not trying to be one of those people, just simply stating I can't seem to get past the first boot . It reboots and is dead. I stated I'm on a fresh install of the dev unlocked 1.12.617.6. I went through the wipe format etc. I supercid. Mid is same as 2PQ912000.
In recovery it said completed and no issues. I'm sure its me. I was just stating I can't seem to move past that first boot.
Thank you for the work, I do appreciate the folks that work on these. Without you this site would be useless and, frankly, I would have stayed w apple years and years ago.

Have you tried installing the 6.0.1 Dev Edition firmware to see if that helps? Typically the ROM and firmware should correspond.
I flashed the img from the other topic that listed the convert from what I'm on now to the 6.0.1. I'm assuming it was the img as it stated it was to be flashed after the ROM backup. The 2PQxxx img. I'm assuming it's the firmware ? This phone is a different animal from the m8 and back. I've done numerous HTC phones and this one is confusing the hell out of me. It's my fault. Not yours.

fastboot getvar all from Download mode might help us see what situation your device is currently in. It sounds like you need to RUU and start over, tbh. A clean slate always helps.
You also need to be more specific with the information you provide. You're referring to vague files, so without knowing exactly what you flashed, it's difficult to help.
To be fair, the purpose of this topic is not to help people figure out why they can't flash a ROM; I already know the ROMs work. This is a Development thread to aggregate the stock rooted bases. As such, the spurious discussion really belongs in Q&A.
Is there anyway you could make a debloated version? Not trying to push it as I greatly appreciate your work done here!
@Captain_Throwback
Thank you for sharing your work.
I read the thread about rooting the A9 but it seems not all devices can be rooted (I am not sure), so I asked the OP there and waiting for his reply.
The one I have is 16GB/2GB model with Build number: 1.27.401.5 CL656287 release-keys, so would the method you mentioned work?
I also have another question but it is off topic, it is regarding the 2GB vs 3GB variants, where can I ask you regarding that? As someone was trying to help me and he told me that you can help.
Thank you so much

I don't know what the "method you mentioned" refers to, but I do know that the FAQ in the TWRP thread answers several root questions. The root method in @jcase's Root thread is largely deprecated with the advent of @Chainfire's latest Beta zips, which automatically patch the boot image. It seems to me that you're making it more complicated than necessary.
And all questions belong in the Q&A forum. If you have a question that you need my feedback on, just mention me and I'll see it.
Now please, let's get this thread back on topic.
I'm going to also upload the firmware extracted from these RUUs to the Downloads tab of the DevDB project. That may help with some of the compatibility issues people are having with the ROMs. Note, however, that the firmware is for people with S-OFF ONLY, and you may need to add your MID and/or CID to the android-info.txt included in the zip for it to flash on your variant. Before you do that, MAKE SURE THE FIRMWARE YOU'RE FLASHING IS FULLY COMPATIBLE WITH YOUR VARIANT!!!! That means - don't flash GSM firmware on your CDMA device and vice versa - the radios are incompatible and will undoubtedly break data for you.
I'm uploading the AT&T firmware now (from the HTC-posted RUU), as I'm about to build a stock rooted for that and upload.

unlocking Mi4c

hi all.
like so many others, Xiaomi forced update 6.1.14 on to my phone which locked the bootloader. i even thought i had stopped the phone from auto updating, but it seems i was wrong. since then, i have been put on to the latest 2 updates. i want to get off of the rom i am on but cant do anything now with the phone in the installing rom dept because regardless of whether i try to use the 'Updater' to put a Chinese dev rom on the phone or any other rom, or if i rename a rom and put it on the root of the phone, i cannot update. i always get a message saying Unable to verify rom and the phone simply stops. when trying to go into recovery mode, as i am unable to get to TWRP, i have even been locked out of that. i applied for an unlock code, but haven't received anything and with Chinese New Year fast approaching, bringing a holiday, i can see Xiaomu ignoring those who asked for a code even longer than they have. i haven't read of a single person being sent the code at all, which is very bad on Xiaomi's part.
i was really pleased with this phone. it worked well for me and did all i wanted but now i have a door stop, to all intents and purpose. such a shame as the way things have gone, i wont be buying from them again.
does anyone have any solution to this problem?
many TIA,
Prettygrim
Download stable ROM - http://bigota.d.miui.com/V7.0.16.0.LXKCNCI/miui_MI4c_V7.0.16.0.LXKCNCI_cba5b6c4a8_5.1.zip
Update your phone to that ROM
You will lost all data and setting (/sdcard is safe)

And stay away from dev ROMs unless you have an unlock code.
hi and tnx for the replies.
to cowithgun:
unfortunately, i cannot update to that or any other rom, as i stated above. trying to do so via the 'Updater' and all i get is 'Unable to verify rom', that is after being told i must connect to the WLAN. the speed of that is almost non-existent.
if i try to do so by putting the rom in the root of the drive, renaming it 'update.zip' i again get told 'unable to verify rom'. because of the failure to be able to do anything 'conventional' was the reason i asked for help. i have even tried Kingroot and Kingoroot but both have failed.
to qtotter:
one of the methods i was asked to try was to try to use a Chinese dev rom, but i cant even get one of those on the phone (my wife is Chinese, so no language issues).
with the upcoming Chinese New Year, i can see Xiaomi using that as an excuse to delay giving out unlock codes, if it intends doing so at all. i am extremely p****d off at what they have done and in my case, they have turned a phone that i really liked into half a phone. such i stupid stunt to pull when the 'unlocked' was a feature used to actually make the phone a more attractive sale. really disappointed
should have asked guys, what method would you suggest i try to get this rom, (if the blasted phone doesn't give me the same message as before about cant verify it) installed on the phone? bear in mind i have no official recovery and obviously no TWRP.
TIA

I tested it myself, it should work. More precisely, I did this:
1. Download this into your computer: http://bigota.d.miui.com/V7.0.16.0.LXKCNCI/miui_MI4c_V7.0.16.0.LXKCNCI_cba5b6c4a8_5.1.zip
2. Connect phone to computer via USB, copy the zip into your phone, say /sdcard/downloaded_rom/miui_MI4c_V7.0.16.0.LXKCNCI_cba5b6c4a8_5.1.zip
3. Start Updater, press the "..." on upper right and select "Choose update package", select the ROM.
4. Installing older developer ROM will causes the error you mentioned, but if you have 6.1.14, installing stable 7.0.16 is OK and tested working. Not sure what is changed but if it still wont work, try the latest 7.1.6 stable instead.
5. It will warn you of losing setting. Please YES.
6. When it's done, you will have a MIUI ROM but bootloader no longer lock.
7. Install CM13 as soon as you can!
Sounds like the problem is your recovery. You said you have no official recovery.
Sent from my Mi-4c using Tapatalk
just tried it and no luck, i'm afraid. still getting the message 'Cant verify update'. also tried moving the file to root of phone, renaming it to 'update.zip' and still no luck, still getting the same message. it seems that the phone is well and truly locked down so it wont even take one of Xiaomi's own official updates, unless it is a progression from the present rom. that in my view is well over the top!!
tnx for trying and if you or anyone has another idea, please let me know. it appears that the thing to turn off is the verification of the rom. is that possible, and if so, how?
one thing i have noticed in the settings -->developer options is 'verify apps over USB. could this be anything to do with the rom verification failure? the txt for that is greyed out with the button on (redish) but i cant see how to change the setting. worth a try maybe? anyone know how to change it?

you may well be right, but if that's the case, it was done by Xiaomi. is there a way of getting it to work? how do i actually check it isn't working? as stated before, when 'booting into recovery', i get an image of the phone on screen with the USB cable either connected or disconnected, depending on the actual state and nothing else happens. i have to do a reboot holding the start button to achieve this

I'm still waiting for my mi4c to come from China, and this is the reason why I'm gonna flash the latest (unlocked) official "stable" ROM first only to update the recovery and radio partitions right after I receive the phone. Resellers in China sometimes put their custom ROMs, recovery images or malware in the phones.
I don't think I'd flash twrp right away. I'd install cm12.1 or cm13 by "fastboot boot recovery.img" leaving the official recovery left in the phone so that I could go back to the official ROMs in the official way, and confirm if everything works as expected before flashing twrp.
What I don't understand is why people flash the dev (locked) ROMs as they are downloaded. What they need is just boot.img and /system, isn't it?? I'd replace "firmware-update" folder, where bootloader, radio and recovery images are located, in the dev ROM with the one from the stable ROM if I wanna try dev ROMs. Or I'd replace boot.img and system.* in the stable ROM with the ones in the dev ROM. Those modded ROMs should be able to be flashed with twrp...
the main reason for using the Chinese dev roms is because they are supposed to bee already rooted. once any of these roms is on the phone, according to what else i read, any rom going over the top would keep root. personally, i didn't find any rom that had root already and had to root my phone, following instructions i found on the MIUI and other sites. the built in recovery on my phone does nothing.
i had issues with TWRP when first using it, but put that down to being a novice. i found the files needed and the procedure to get out of the constant TWRP loop, which meant the phone was basically soft bricked and all was good. however, even that method fails now with the message something like 'phone is locked, cannot continue.
i have put an official complaint into Xiaomi about the bootloader locking and also about the time being taken to issue unlock codes, which is much longer than 3-21 days in some cases.
if i get anywhere, i'll post what i'm told
Since the latest miui ROMs are all based on Android 5.1.1, it's really easy to root mi4c yourself even on official standard ROMs. You don't have to flash dev ROMs or flash custom recovery like twrp. You can just run twrp on the fly like "fastboot boot twrp.img" to flash SuperSU.zip as long as bootloader is unlocked.
I'd say it's more dangerous to flash dev ROMs only for rooting especially if it's for your wife, not for yourself... Dev ROMs are for people who want to try new functions and designs still under development.
Anyway, I hope you will get an unlock SMS from xiaomi soon!

No. Older Developer ROM will not work. Updater will refuse to update it. I tested a few of them back then, only by flashing the latest stable ROM back then (7.0.16) work.

And now flash the lastest developer and try roll back one o two a time (this work for my with the original recovery) and later use one rom from xiaomi.eu that one has not locked bootloader .
Sorry for my bad english.
i'm probably being real thick here guys. please bear with me. i am, as i said before, new to all this stuff with phones.
remember too that i have an unlocked bootloader now, courtesy of Xiaomi.
so, just to be clear, i am using miui_MI4c_5.12.31_5d6537a0b8_5.1.zip. to remove the possibility of Xiaomi doing something else to the phone that i dont want, i would like to get on to the xiaomi.eu_multi_libra roms. how do i go about doing this in idiot-proof steps, please? also, if i manage to achieve what i want, how do i stop the phone taking official updates? there must be a setting in the phone somewhere that can be disabled and prevent it updating to what i dont want. i found the one in the 'updater settings' but am of the opinion there is another somewhere that i cant find.
hope someone will be gentle with me
TIA
If you're already on Xiaomi.EU ROMs, you won't get OTA updates directly from Xiaomi that will lock your bootloader.

which is an official rom, i believe. hence the questions in my former posts. i want to get on to the libre eu roms but am unsure how to go about it. i have read about using various roms first but i believe doing so is under certain circumstances, ie, bootloader locked, phone not rooted. my phone has the bootloader unlocked now by Xiaomi and i have rooted the phone. this is where my confusion comes in that i was hoping someone could clarify
You have unlock permission from xiaomi now, which means you don't need to worry about updates. You can unlock your phone again anytime you want. It's not one time only thing.
well that's a relief! tnx, qtotter! i didn't want to have to go through all this again, just because the maker decided i hadn't actually bought the phone, i had just bought permission to use it, as long as it was how he wanted me to use it!
bloody USA judge who decided that must have been paid a small fortune to rule in favour of this! just what the entertainment industries and others wanted!! didn't care what the implications were or ow the industries would take the p**s out of customers!!

This rom is a stock rom and is almost 100% stock but it comes without dm-verity to avoid boot problems in case you want to preserve your custom recovery.
This rom is meant to be used in case of emergency, give a fresh start to your device, restore your device in case of corruption or just to play around.
I have tested this rom on my own device and everything is working properly.
Please check the specifications at the end of this op.
Requisites:
New assert-fixed twrp version forked from messi's twrp
Note: All the credit for twrp goes to @messi2050, this is just an assert revision of the current twrp made from messi. It will be deleted as soon as we get an updated version with the right assert tags.
Installation steps
Download the new assert-twrp version and flash it as you would normally do it.
Standard Wipe (factory reset) and Format Data are optional (unless you have a non-stock based rom installed already). If you want a full fresh start you should format data, reboot into recovery again and do an standard wipe x3.
Install the rom.

I usually don't take screenshots on my stock roms, basicly because there is nothing new/fancy to show. It is stock and it'll look the same as when you buyed your phone, with the same default wallpaper and apps...
I take screenshots in my slim versions (wich I will start soon).

You mean that you power off your device and the use the Volume Key and Power hit yes twice, right???
If that is the case you could try flashing DM-Verity or SuperSu again to avoid that little bootloop. Or you can just stick (like me) to do and ADB REBOOT RECOVERY.
Please notice that I never mentioned that the bug-fixed twrp was intended for this bootloop/reset issue, it just correct some asserts problems that block our devices from installing this rom and any other room with the right and original asserts.

Question 1: There is not at the moment, I will start with Leaneage OS after doing my slim version. I don't know how many time it will take as this is my second device and I am just playing around with it (my V20 give me more pleasure).
Question 2: Stock means Stock... Nothing new nor fancy, same setup, apps, etc.... I mention on the OP what this rom porpuse is.
Hotspot issue: not all the time depends on a custom rom, this is my first device with metropcs service, I don't know if they sync your hotspot usage with their servers. If they do you are not going to be able to bypass that. Any ways my slim version it would get rid of plenty of bloatware and it may work if they depend on the main app on the device.

The hotspot will be monitored regardless of if you're using a stock room or custom. The only difference being that on a custom rom, you won't receive a notification stating you went over 8 gigs. Once you hit the 8 gig limit, your hotspot speed will be slowed down.
Also, when you go over your 8 gigs of high-speed hotspot it won't reset at the beginning of your pay period, but exactly a month (to the day) after you went over.
So say your pay period is the 5th and you go over your limit on the 4th. You'd have to wait until the 4th of the following month before you get high speed back.

I was just about to ask if your slim rom would be a debloat, but now I know. So good look there.
Also, if and when you get down on lineage. I'll be more than happy to test, I had been working on it myself before I blew up my hard drive. So I'd rather help then be a sponge.
Im also willing to test.
Ufffff...
Ok guys... After several days testing / building the slim version I am getting really frustated and dissapointed...
Everytime something goes wrong there is no way to boot into recovery mode using hard keys, that only makes twrp wipe and reboot but not entering on the complete twrp options. So everytime that I flash the test .zip of the slim version and I get an error before actually booting completely into the normal system I have to go to Mocosoft (windows) and use LGUP to flash the .kdz and start from scratch all over.
I hate to have to reboot my laptop and use Mocosoft, I really hate not been able to reboot in recovery mode as in other LG devices with the hardkeys.
I guess is another limitation of the actuall twrp version that we have, maybe we will have to wait for an updated twrp version to avoid all this trauma.
Right now I feel like I'm done with this device, I have used LGUP around 15 times in 3-5 days just because I can no go into twrp.
If this is happening with a stock based slim version I don't want to think about building/testing lineageos.
If you know an option to go to twrp version after a corrupted/incomplete system tell me about please. I have used the followings procedure but not success:
1.- Hardkeys (just makes twrp wipe the system).
2.- Fastboot boot twrp.img (command fails).
3.- Flashing original twrp (from messi) and then the flashing back the bug-fixed twrp (forked from messi) and trying to reproduce the first boot taking out the battery and using hardkeys (no luck, still wipes the system and reboot by it self).
Sorry guys, I think I will stop for a few days... Maybe I need to go out and have a little fun and come back...

I hope you can success with lineage 14.1, i wasn't able to make it boot on the stylo 2 plus since ms210 and ms550 are almost the same if you managed to boot it then I'm sure it will work on the stylo too, good luck.
I know it's really late, but I was just gonna say build a version of your rom with the flags for Messi's twrp and just use that to flash.
Either way, I'm glad you managed to sort the shiz out and I'm wishing you the best of luck with development.

I don't get it?
You mean the asserts right?
I haven't test the new twrp version of messi (no free time), so you are telling me that the new version still have the wrong flags?
I usually don't remove the CORRECT flags from my roms (a Tmo user could flash the metropcs and cause a brick/softbrick for example) to avoid user's mistakes/misread...

The new version has the correct flags. I never said it didn't.
I'm saying that a twrp can be created with unified flags allowing a room to be shared between devices without having to build between the lv3 and the aristo. Sorta like what had been done with the LG Leon a couple years ago.
Instead of using the h or Ms flags relating to model number, you can use the consistent board config as the basis.
Either way, the only way someone could brick or soft brick from this method is if it were like the S4 situation where you have to flash the carrier specific kernel version for the device. Like using the At&t rom on the Verizon s4 will cause a soft brick until you flash the Verizon s4 kernel.
This is only just an idea in response to you having to go back and forth (before you got the updated twrp) on recovery versions during your tests

Can you do me a solid, sorry if I'm turning into an annoyance. Add "lg aristo" into either the thread tags or into the thread name itself. It'll add the thread into the Aristo board for easier access and make this easier to find. I recommended your rom to another user who had no idea what I was even talking about. (So I shared the link if you don't mind me doing so)

AT&T LG V20 H91020l Flashable Stock Roms

Flash with TWRP, choose one or the other.
H91020i_rooted.zip
You probably want this one. It is stock with the following modifications:
engineering bootloader (aboot)
TWRP 3.5.2_9-0 (recovery)
mk2000 kernel, Magisk v23.0 patched (boot)
hidden bootloader warning (raw_resources)
H91020i_stock.zip
Lose root, revert to stock. After installing, shut the phone off and then do a factory reset.
Lol, thanks for the package. It works just like h91020h, only slightly newer, but i don't have to do the kernel, twrp, or the fixed boot graphic. I can just install this, and debloat.
Works great, installed it with latest TWRP on nougat firmware (initially rooted using dirtysanta)
twrp-3.6.1_9-0-h910.img
H91020i_rooted.zip
Auto_Debloat 2.1
mk2000 2.3 beta 1 kernel
Magisk-v24.3 - Rename .apk to .zip or not, worked both ways in TWRP
Loving it, flashing other mods now like gps, high imp., quad dac mod, etc...

Howdy!
Sorry to be asking, but I'm trying this after having been on LOS for ages since I need VoLTE access. After flashing this, I get no service of any sort. Keeps trying to connect, never actually connects. My IMEI is still correct, I've sent my old modem files through fastboot, I've flashed 910 Oreo modem images, no dice.
Any ideas as to what I'm missing in this process? 910 on AT&T, USA, thanks much for your time!

I really appreciate the super comprehensive reply, thanks so much! It was on the carrier's end, it was just a strange case of timing, a worsening of the AT&T nonsense that got me to switch back to Oreo in the first place.
Thank you!
I flashed the rooted zip from this thread after fallowing this guide https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/...irtysanta-most-variants-noobfriendly.3722278/ now the phone only boots the Fastboot. Oddly it even goes to fast mode when I try to enter TWRP it even still makes you choose yes twice like normal but instead of twrp I get fastboot.
Anyone care to point me in the right direction?
Something went wrong, you need to verify you can go into download mode and flash stock kdz and start from there....
[ROOT] HOWTO: AT&T H910 up to v20g (FULLY TESTED)
***WARNING*** This is ONLY for the H910. If you flash H915 firmware on an H918 -- you WILL brick it. If you are currently on Oreo, you can root your phone, but you CAN NOT keep Oreo - for now. This will downgrade you back to Nougat, which is...

I formatted data/ and flashed H91020i_rooted.zip onto my H910 (rooted with DirtySanta and flashed to H91020h_Oreo_full_rooted.zip approximately 2.5 years ago). It appeared to work, but it looks like I lost root... whenever I try to do something that requires root, I get "Unfortunately, Magisk has stopped" as soon as the app tries to become root.
Any ideas what to try next?
so could this be used after the root procedure here https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/root-howto-at-t-h910-up-to-v20g-fully-tested.3664500/ ? Because the full stock 910r package used there is no longer available
