Problems with the new G900PVPU3BOK4 Firmware - Sprint Galaxy S 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

So, I broke my phone last week and ordered one through the stupid insurance company under sprint. Ive been rooting phones for a long time. This one has me stumped. I rooted the phone with CF root. No problems, decided to flash the moar rom, kept getting the Set_perm: some changes failed. So i wiped everything and tried it again, no luck. I tried flashing the older firmware and kept getting the SW REV CHECK FAIL: [aboot] fused 3 > binary 1 which is completely pissing me off. Im currently downloading the stupid G900PVPU3BOK4 firmware and praying it fix everything. My question is, why the hell cant i install moar roms on it?

First, chill out. Second, you can't go back after being in OK4. Third, just check the md5 of the MOAR installer.

Yeah, downgrading firmware through Odin is a no-go. Like csmasn said, check your md5 or redownload MOAR.

Stuck on 4.0.4 Verizon

For the last year or so, I was using this rom, and I loved it, but I was curious to try the new KitKat version so I tried updating, and kept getting getting a recursive error when trying to flash the d2lte(supposedly all the S3 roms are unified now?) KitKat version. So after doing this, after /system was cleared, but I couldn't flash back to the backup I had made before hand because I was getting an md5 mismatch.
In response, I used Odin to flash Root66. Phone works, but its seriously lacking in terms of bells and whistles of a custom ROM. It says its rooted, but a lot of root apps would fail the permission test. No prompt was given. I used towelroot and started getting root access, but I still can't update CWM or Superuser binaries. Trying to flash any other ROM leads me to an infinite boot screen, forcing me to flash Root66 again.
I tried this as well, but it seemed to yield the same results.
So, I really would like get off Root66, but I'm at a loss as to how. Anyone have any ideas? I'm sure the answer is staring me in the face in one of those threads I linked, but I'd really appreciate it if someone could (at least try to) point me in the right direction. Apologizing in advance if this question has been asked before.
Thanks.

Not having any luck... (possible brick!)

So I've hesitated flashing my Sprint Note Edge simply because (and no disrespect to those that have been working hard) I was waiting on more development... but after receiving the 5.1.1 OTA update I wanted to revert back to kitkat... so I did some research and found all the files I needed to root (as well as the 5.0.1 stock firmware just in case that didn't work)... it rooted fine(I think) but when I went to add the SU superuser zip (through CMW) my Edge froze at the bootloader screen and won't go any further... I tried reinstalling the stock firmware tar. through odin but I keep getting the expected "fail"... I'm thinking my only option is to find a ROM small enough to fit on my sd card (240mb) and try to flash through cmw... but I'm not having any luck... ANY SUGGESTIONS WOULD BE VERY MUCH APPRECIATED!
I am in a similar boat here I think we need a stock odin before we can fix this so far no luck finding one on my end (
Same here too m8, on my Sprint SM-N915P. I was on 5.0.1 then upgraded OTA to 5.1.1, but had issues rooting, tried to revert to 5.0.1 thru Odin, ended with FAIL error. Initially, had the message "[aboot] Fused 4 > Binary 2". Did some digging, and now I believe my only option is to wait for the official Sprint 5.1.1 TAR or MD5 to be released or get a PIT file from someone on the 5.0.1.
Today i'll try to reflash original recovery from CF-AutoRoot's md5, so the stock "Firmware Upgrade Error...in KIES" pops up at boot, and take it to a Sprint shop, hoping for help...
That sucks! Well keep me posted on your progress....
Is it a bootloader issue or incompatibility between 5.1.1 and 5.0.1 that prevents flashing?

Unable to Install 5.1.1 OTA Update for Verizon SM-P905V

I was able to install the first of the two updates earlier for the 5.1.1 update on my Verizon Galaxy Note Pro 12.2. The second downloads, prompts for install, reboots and begins installing but errors out and reboots back into the OS home screen. The Verizon software update manager shows Failed software update error code 402. I have factory reset my tablet a couple of times and still same issue. I do not have my tablet rooted and no apps disabled.
I downloaded the latest available Samsung firmware md5 file, version VZW-P905VVRUANK1-20141205133604 and tried flashing using Odin 3.07 while in download mode. It starts and after a few seconds, Odin fails and on the tablet screen, I get the error, SW REV CHECK FAIL : [aboot]Fused 2 > Binary 1. I have re-downloaded the firmware along with older versions and still same issue.
I was reading somewhere that my tablet could be "soft bricked" and that is why it will not install the second part of the OTA. As for the Odin/download mode error, I had read that the firmware version I am trying to flash in Odin has an older version of bootloader than my current and Samsung does not let you downgrade the bootloader. I may be wrong on both accounts, which is why I am seeing if anyone else has had this same issue or have any advice on what I can try.
Thanks in advance!
Same here. I unforze all the apps unintstalled SU and factory reset still no dice. VZW repair assistant wont work or smart switch. RA says device firmware not supported and smart switch says im up to date. The first part of the update installed no problem.

I had the exact same issues. Here's what I did with my 4.4.2 Rooted NP. I wiped it completely from within the device, then connected it and to the VZW software and let it do a "Repair". After that, my tablet also said that it was up to date, still on 4.4.2. I let it sit overnight and tried downloading the software update the next morning from the tablet, and it took both of them. My NP is rocking 5.1.1. now, much faster. No root but that's alright for now. By running the repair assistant from VZW, it also got rid of the Unlocked Symbol, which may have prevented the upgrade in the first place.

I was able to get mine to update using ODIN and the firmware file from sammoble. Factory reset on the tablet, factory reset in recovery and finally ODIN worked.
I was having the same problems as the OP listed. Once I decided to live without root and I would be okay with wiping the tablet, I performed exactly what dansto82 said he did and I'm now on 5.1.1.
Now hoping someone comes up with a way to root.
Hey, I have the p905v and it is running 4.4.4, I rooted it with towelroot and it was completely fine. I then tried putting twrp recovery on it the wrong way through flashify and now I don't have a recovery mode and can't update it to 5.1.1. Other than that the tablet runs perfectly fine. Is there a way I can fix it?

SM-g900p PRL Update. Tried to unroot got sw rev check fail fused 3>binary 1

I own a rooted SM-G900P which is the Galaxy S5 Sprint. Trying to unroot or update my prl on this phone. Basically I only have internet service on my phone running Exodus or Cyanogen Mods. Currently running Exodus. Everytime I try to install a rooted stock rom from Clockworkmod/Phillz touch recovery it won't boot. I tried to use Odin to no avail had to rename the downloaded files to .tar just to run them then got "sw rev check fail: fused 3>binary 1" as the error on the phone. I need to unroot this phone to get my prl updated since I changed my number. Any ideas? Thank you!
Running Windows 7 64-bit, Odin 3.07, 3.09, SM-G900P, samsung usb cable. Is recovery flash locked?
same problem any idea
May be helpful, let us hope so...
Personally, I would get a new build of Odin (3.11, 3.13. or higher an Official , not off some weird far out website)
Odin does still work on the phones, (however, I do believe you need "Stock" firmware, at least installed to "update" could be wrong)
After you have a newer Odin, start that, then I would get the phone in Download mode. Then plug into PC. You see lights change color on Odin, also will have a not that you are hooked up. Now, I really have not updated the PRL ...yet. But, I think, if you, through Odin, Push the latest Platform (MM) , then, change the PRL, Then Add recovery (cause you don't have one now!
I think your done, especially if you put on a different ROM. (don't think Los or ASOP change any of those setting (PRL)
Hope this can be helpful. Plus, don't worry, been there done this!!!

Samsung Galaxy S4 "I9505" Black Edition Firmware Flash Issues

Greetings.
I didn't post in very long time on this forum, since I could handle most of the problems on my own,now I need some andvanced tips and advices,so I'm reporting in.
I bough myself a Samsung Galaxy S4 Black Edition last year here in Bosnia and Hercegovina.Beautiful phone, never got a scratch on it,It had Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean out of the box but all of the features from basic S4 except one,it couldn't update firmware to Lolipop 5.0.1.
That used to bother me,since I had much older devices that supported JB and this phone was just special, enough that I couldn't let it be my daily driver having unused potential,so i threw myself at work(which will later prove a very bad decision).
I checked for OTA updates in the settings and that option would litteraly do nothing, providing no info,or searching for new updates.
Smash that Build number, got into developer mode, toggle USB debugging,Install Kies on PC,run it as Admin, download latest drivers, connect the device,Firmware update asks for IMEI and s/n,type them in,says to check my s/n and IMEI,do that few times under different compatibility options, still the same.
I thought it must be something bad with data/catche so i reset to recovery mode and wipe them out, setup the phone, enter the OTA update for second time,it shows me "Your device have been modified, Software updates are not available", check device status and it states "Samsung",after several attempts it sometime said "Modified" sometimes "Samsung",Kies didn't recognise the device through all this process.
I was already lost here, but I thought, hell Kies isn't working, neather is OTA,i could flash using Odin, that might do the trick.
Went to Sammobile, downloaded latest drivers and Odin, found one Firmware that I though was compatible.,unbloked them in properties and set to rin as Admin.
Uninstalled Kies and checked for leftover drivers again, and it was all clear to go,ran odin, mounted firmware, set device in download mode and started flashing but Odin poped out "complete(write) operation fail" error.
Didn't want to try fixing it,went straight back to SM and downloaded two other firmwares, one said "complete(write) operation fail",and the other "Re-Partition operation failed",so I thought Odin was bad, since I checked on two PC's with several USB ports.
Download two more versions of Odin and find a stock s4 PIT file here somewhere for repartrition error.
Extracted everything, unblocked and ran with privilegies, same thing on both Odin versions, except that only Odin 3.07 could flash the pit file alone with no problems it passed.
Next time i ran download mode i tried to flash the firmware write fail came up again, extracted recovery and flashed it alone, worked like a charm,so I tried flashing once again,it proceedes a little further with same write error.
Reset the phone to wipe data and catche and it goes into "Firmware Upgrade Encountered An Issue Error",Install kies,it still doesn't recognise the phone.
Out of option right now I go for search of alternative recovery software, and I found the famous "Dr.Fone" (how stupid I was to not read all those,"if it wasn't for this software my phone would die" comments)
Installed it,ran recovery my phone shuts down and displays "set warranty bit: kernel message",from this point nothing works except recovery mode,so I install CWM recovery and flash a Custom ROM,now only this option that sets my phone in working order and I want to recover it's Firmware back,Anyone that could help me with this issue,or had it solved before?
Atleast give it a try.
this amount of pain can't be titled

Day#4 Fail compilation
I see that this gets no response, but I'll continue this thread just in case I fix this and somebody else gets into same problem themselves.
I mentioned before that I somehow flashed custom ROM over CWM and that helped my phone boot into working state after bootloop error caused by greatest Android software there is on the internet, the legendary "Dr.Fone"
The Custom rom used was "[OFFICIAL][i9500][5.1.x] CyanogenMod 12.1 for Samsung Galaxy S4 [NIGHTLY]" From xda user: Alberto96 (thank you friend).
After several other failed attempts of implementing Stock firmware on this bricked device over the PC,I got to the point where I think that it's literally imposible to make it work since I tried so many ways and patterns of installation with no difference in the outcome results whatsoever.
I took a moment to rethink my strat over this and googled other ways of flashing that firmware without using PC.
Found 2 possible solutions that I'm trying to make use of,first is Odin Mobile and the Other is FlashFire.
Since both require rooted devices, finding way to root bricked S4 wasn't a very pleasant experiance, since flashing SuperSU through CWM recovery didn't work,Odin managed to flash me nice Autoroot from Chainfire over the custom ROM I installed before,I found a problem even there since the I9505 autoroot wouldn't work, the custom firware had changed the phone model to I9507 that I downloaded the Autoroot for,was a confusing issue, but I managed to root it anyways.
Page I used for this purpose was Chainfire Autoroot database(sorry if I'm violating forum rules but I think this could be left here without further discussion about it).
After rebooting the device I downloaded Rootcheck software along with SuperSU and FlashFire which confirmed that it's fully unlocked/rooted.
Now I'm recharging my phone so I can later tonight go ahead and transfer firmware to it's SD card and try to flash it once again with FlashFire, last option I'm thinking of as of now if this wouldn't have any progress is to download Odin mobile and try another flash,I'm running out of ideas on this one.
Sorry for the long posts, but these get no respose so who cares.
