I'm using stock rom and used the in phone software update to upgrade to Android Marshmallow, and since then the notification count stopped appearing on installed apps icon like whatsapp, facebook, etc.. Although it's still working on SMS, missed calls, emails, and other pre-installed apps
I've tried to uninstall and reinstall whatsapp but still not working
The notification count used to appear well on these apps icon under Android Lollipop
Anyone having the same? Any suggested solutions?

I am having a similar issue.. badge notifications comes on WhatsApp, FB, Skype, SMS, etc.. but not from my own App... we are still trying to figure-out why... of course we are using 3rd party libs... what do these Apps use to make this work? Any help is much appreciated...

Hi, im developing an app called LightWeight Facebook Notifications, if you don't want official facebook app and receive instant notifications.
I posted here for who want use and testing and tell me any kind of bug or suggestion.
Fow now, only notify your wall activity and related, no message or friend request.
The app use push notification and it will not use any extra battery life, it uses almost no data and it does not run in the background constantly.
Thanks!
Will this work with 3Rd party apps for Facebook?

Nice app. I just have a couple suggestions: 1) Consolidate the notifications into one and add a UI for displaying them rather than one app notification for each FB notification. 2) Add an option to ignore FB app requests/notifications.
Edit: It appears to not notify for private messages, wall posts, or tags.
anybody have this happen yet, or know how to fix it?
just got my smartwatch 2 on Monday so im still new to the functionality and tweaking.

I don't have the smartwatch yet, but what icon is missing? Is it possibly related to a function that could be toggled on or off in the settings menu?
not sure. I woke up and had a hole in that spot. when I rearrange icons, the hole is still there. there also used to be an icon at the top. it was a white circle with three dots inside next to the battery. it's no longer there either.
Sent from my C6833 using xda app-developers app
I don't know where your icons have gone but the circle with the dots appears when you have an unread message. Scroll down the app drawer and you will see the message. Once you have read the message the circle is gone.

no. this is my first time owning a smart watch. i think the icon that is missing is the events icon. i didnt use that app anyways so its not affecting me any. its just that spot where it used to be cannot be used, its just a hole. lol only app i have that is an original smartwatch app is the SMS composer. might have to delete and reset watch, and reinstall.

You should first check your smartwatch application on the phone. I've got the same problem with runtastic app, which deleted from the phone, but (by unknown reason) not from the smartwatch app. And because of that I have empty place on my smartwatch 2
I have looked but haven't found any notification forwarder using the Android 4.3 notification service instead of the accessibility service. Should improve notifications on watch I hope. Does anyone know of any SM2 that's using this for 4.3?
BR
Just found Wristn, it can be registered as a NotificationListenerService and an Accessibility service also. I'm going to test it for a few days but it looks promosing. If it isn't then I'm going to write one because it is really just a few hundred lines of code.

Watchit is the best. It now supports notification service and is the only one which allows to block unneeded notifications from Smartwatch itself.

Yes, watchit now supports notification service. But it still just picks up what is shown in notification bar. Ie when I have multiple Hangouts ongoing it will just show that I have x messages in that and that hangout. I thought that it was possible to intercept the notification itself and send that to the smart watch not being dependant on what the notification bar shows.

Here you are the new version of Gmail....
Gmail is built on the idea that email can be more intuitive, efficient, and useful. And maybe even fun. Get your email instantly via push notifications, read and respond to your conversations online & offline, and search and find any email.
Gmail also lets you:
• Manage multiple accounts
• View and save attachments
• Set up label notifications
Only download and install

This is still new my friend it's not even publish yet in playstore so it hasn't been themed yet From MOD Themers!
I know it's new. My mistake in wording. What I meant to ask was-did Google include in the app to have a dark theme. I don't know why app developers dont just include that.

Google does not let you change anything about the Gmail UI, including the stupid gray font for read messages that makes it difficult to read the subject lines. I used the App Settings to increase the font size for Gmail only, because the default font size is intolerable.
Great! Working ok!
Thanx

Hey on the S6 is there anyway without root to disable the floating notifications that reads out every message and scrolls across the screen?
I know some apps have this in their settings ex : groupme... But i specifically use hangouts for txt and IM.....
Anyone?

yea i want to know how to do this too. those floating notifications are super annoying especially when watching videos. but looks like there's no way without root though.

With HeadsOff lollipop heads-up notifications can now be disabled!
No root needed.
You can also restore the ticker text in the statusbar!
Give it a try:
Download from Playstore
XDA thread
What about preventing text messages from turning the screen on every time one comes in? Any idea how to get do that?
If you rooted you can edit csc files to do that
