Does anyone own this specific model? It seems that the E6653 model is the preferred device. I've read that it's possible to flash E6653 firmware onto the E6603 to enable the fingerprint scanner. That doesn't make much sense to me. Why would Sony put extra hardware into a device and not utilize it? I'm thinking about the US model just for warranty purposes. Yet, I would really like to have that fingerprint scanner. Any input would be greatly appreciated.

Nobody knows what is Sony doing mate
I think it has to do with a licensing issue.

Hey everyone,
I own an Sony Xperia Z3 model D6603 and I live in the USA. I haven't had any issues with it except for no Wi-Fi calling/texting.
I downloaded firmware for the sony xperia z3 D6616 US Tmobile version and was wondering if I could load that on my D6603? I heard of others loading custom roms from other models of the Z3 without incident so I would think it was possible. I think this hypotheticaly should get Wi-Fi calling to work as it should be a software restriction not a hardware one??
Any insight would be very helpful. Hell even if you think I could give it a try and if it doesn't work I can always revert to the old rom, a boost of confidence would be great before I start tinkering with things.
Thanks everyone!
Hey all,
So Handtec just released what version they will be getting and its the E6603, seems to have all the bands necessary for AT&T. There is also a E6653 available from Clove, I looked at the developer thing from sony, there seems to be no difference in the bands. So what is the difference in model number.
With that said... I have been rocking an iPhone 6 Plus the last year. This is my first iPhone and while it is nice. I have been itching to get back to Android. I got an invite to buy a Oneplus 2 and bought it, now I'm regretting it. The sony seems like the device to get, I rocked the z3 for about a month when it came out. I have thought of using the Oneplus for a month until the Z5 comes out, but not sure... Thoughts?
only difference as far as the whitepaper goes is that the e6603 supports cat4 LTE, and the e6653 supports cat6
Hi ,
Here is your most appealing thing so that is the(the whitepaper goes is that the e6603 supports cat4 LTE, and the e6653 supports cat6 )

Do we know which one will have an unlockable bootloader? Or is it too early to know?

none of these seem destined to head to T-Mobile as a specific variant, so both can probably be unlocked, as per usual.
Ordered E6653 today, will be here next week.
HELP???
I live in the usa,and ordered the e6603 from handtec. Should I get the cat 6 capable e6653 from clove instead? Also I can't seem to find that model on clove.

Really a personal choice. If the only difference is cat 4 or cat 6 LTE it doesn't really matter. I ordered E6653 because its available now from a seller I have dealt with on numerous occasions in Taipei.
I assume this topic also goes for the compact models as the white paper shows the same differences. Still torn between z5 and compact but was considering doing it now from probably the same eBay seller. I'm in the USA anything I need to worry about ordering one of those phone such as it being stuck on another language or being locked (if they claim its unlocked which I do believe it is)

I use eBay seller 23port. I have purchased a few phones from them and never had an issue. Always brand new unlocked devices. Shipped today, arriving Wednesday.
Are we able to use the cat6 lte on cat4 network? At&t still doesn't have a lot of cat6 lte band. If I buy E6653, will I be able to use the LTE for AT&T?

Is anyone aware of any online retailers that sell the E6653 variant? I can't seem to find any expect bizrus oline which doesn't ship to the US apparent or at least I can't find that option.
For anyone who wanted to know, a reddit user confirmed that the E6653 model is bootloader unlockable.
Any way you could post the link? I've been searching for confirmation on this for days

Device actually arrived yesterday, not bad for shipping from Taiwan on Friday. Anyway, took it out last night and this morning but not getting LTE on AT&T. LTE Discovery app shows band 17 available but the device is not connecting to it. Network setting is 4G preferred. Must have something to do with cat 6 vs cat 4. I am in a fairly rural area in New England. Anyone else get an E6653 on AT&T in a major metropolitan area that can chime in?
Anyone own the international version in US and using AT&T network?
I currently own the North American version but missing fingerprint scanner. I'm considering switching to International version.
Any issues I should consider or be aware? Thanks.

It's really good and fast but it's incredibly sensitive. If there's any moisture or even trace amounts of dirt, it won't read your fingerprint so you just have to make sure the sensor is clean and your fingers are dry.

I bought the unlocked UK version and use it on AT&T in southern Florida, and love it. Please note that indicators on UK phones will show "4G+" when you are on LTE (google/bing it--they mean exactly the same thing).
Just flash the international region firmware to your US version and you get working fingerprint reader etc. No need switch phones.

I did this (thinking of starting a thread about it:crying and I was able to use fingerprint scanner, but now my Xperia backup accounts are "unable to connect", the stock camera takes green pictures (literally just a slab of green) and settings say there's an update, but the software section says it's up to date with Android 7.1.1 and the September security patch.
I was just on Oreo 8.0.0 and November security patch without any of these bugs using the stock US firmware. Any advice on updating the EU version (unless the EU is STILL on 7.1.1 and Sept. Security patch) and fixing bugs?
Green pictures? This is a symptom of unlocked bootloader. Did you do that by chance? If yes, take a look in dev section. Search XDA for Xperifirm tool to download all Oreo builds for EU/USA/Asia
I really wish people would stop saying there are so many different versions of the phone, they are confusing themselves and others. There are only two models, G8141 & G8142, single sim & dual sim. Also firmware doesn't seem to make a difference at all as far as connectivity goes, I originally had the HK firmware, then flashed CE1, then FR, and they all operate pretty much the same for AT&T here in the US. I used the FR firmware because someone in another thread pointed out how it has been getting the updates first usually.
Hello everyone, new member here. I have searched through many threads here, and am unable to find what I am looking for. I had purchased an Xperia XZ F8331 from the UK, a pre-order as no retailer I contacted in North America could give me a date on when it would be available. Clove Technologies is where I purchased, and after talking to them, checking with my mobile carrier, both deemed the phone would work. However, I get no LTE, and my regular phone service is very poor, only 1, the odd time 2 bars of service. My Xperia Z1 will get full bars and LTE in the same spot. I have hardly used it, have sent it back for warranty and it came back with no difference. I have found that others here in Canada have the same phone, purchased elsewhere with a different customization number. My number is 1305-2216, customized UK. I have seen 3 different ones, that seem to be working fine. However, I can't find them all in XperiCheck. 1304-9026 is there, but with a lower software version than my phone. The other 2 are 1308-0262 and 1304-7008. Sony Uk has been no help, and the retailer has not helped me either. I have had this issue since I got the phone, and don't want to have a very expensive paper weight. Any help will be greatly appreciated.
You may use flashtool to flash fw of another region then see if the issues you mentioned be fixed or not.

I'm considering getting a XZ Premium, trying to decide between getting a US one and flashing it with an International ROM or just buying an international one. Besides the warranty, is there any advantages or disadvantages of one over the other?
Will either one have any issues with Google Pay or have issues with the Play Store region?
I considered the same thing and I don't think so. I decided to get the US version for the warranty and then flashed it.
There are only two models, G8141 & G8142, the only differences when buying international vs us is the firmware. The hardware is all the same this time around.
Edit: To clarify, G8141 is the single sim and G8142 is the dual sim.
