Hello I bought an unlocked Samsung Galaxy S6 from Best Buy 2 weeks ago. It worked perfectly until Wednesday 3/9/16 when it randomly flashed then turned itself off when it was laying next to me in my desk. When I turned it on it flashed the "Custom binary blocked by FRP lock" and I have not been able to remove the frp lock.
I did not in any way attempt to modify the phone, it was completely factory stock until the day it got locked.
Model: SM-G920T
Apparently this is the stock firmware I'm not sure: www[dot]getthefile[dot]com//2016/03/samsung-galaxy-s6-sm-g920t-flash-file[dot]html I can't post links yet so I hope this will do
I've tried odin countless times and its always stuck on NAND Write Start!!, it stays like that for hours on end.
I'm using Odin3 v3.10.6, I have the samsung drivers as well

You are trying to flash an Snapdragon based device's software.
Just plug the phone to PC in download mode and rescue it via Smart Switch. It'll download the right firmware for your device and flash it automatically.
Here's how you can do it;
Still need help

I have a similar problem to the original poster, except I think mine was rooted before it was sent to me, It used to open with TeamWin. So anyway, the first month was ok, then it started to fail until it just stopped working. I brought it to the Samsung shop here and they said the seller forced the wrong firmware into the phone. It started working again but now it says Custom Binary blocked by FRP Lock. I tried the video, but SmartSwitch won't even recognize the phone. Help please! I don't want this phone to be an expensive paperweight!

I did the verizon pushed update to 4.4.2 today on my SCH I535 S3 which was totally stock with encryption. After the install finished "upgrading apps" it then did a re-boot and asked for my encrypt pin then showed the outline Andy. Then after a couple of vibrations it re-boot again and will continue this cycle until battery is removed. After sitting on the phone for several hours and conversing with Samsung and Verizon they pointed me to Samsung Experience in a Best Buy and if that doesn't work I have to send it to Samsung for re-flash. They said they couldn't get their software to recognize my phone. The guy there recommended using odin to download a stock rom.
I have downloaded odin 3.07 and have downloaded a 4.3 stock rom. I set up odin with auto reboot and F. reset time checked and nothing else. I select the .tar.md5 in the bootloader and here is my odin output:

Please tell me how to recover my phone. I am new to this so give me detail please.
I believe since u pushed the 4.4.2 ne1 update u need to Odin the 4.4.2 ne1 tar file, not the 4.3 file
Thanks so much! I tried the 4.4.2 tar file and... it worked. I thought that since the 4.4.2 update is what failed I'd have to go back to the 4.3 but that was clearly flawed thinking on my part. I can't believe that it worked and best of all everything is still there! I still have all my apps and data, as if nothing at all happened.
Thanks so much for your suggestion!

No I didn't get the 4.3 working. I did get the 4.4.2 working though. I am not sure how exactly you'd revert back to an older version, Sorry.
Hey all,
So yesterday I rooted using PingPong root, went fine, didn't trip Knox etc etc.
Installed Lucky Patcher, ended up getting the "out of space" error when trying to install apps so done a factory reset.
Get up to the point when setting the phone up and it just hung at "Just a sec...", no matter what I done, nothing changed. So I downloaded official Samsung firmware from sammobile and that's where I'm stuck now. Odin has been sitting at "NAND write start!!" for about ten minutes, nothing is happening.
Any advice at all? Pulling my hair out, the phone is only a week old.

I forgot to mention, did try that briefly earlier but the download got stuck on 0%, left it maybe 5 mins. Any way I can use the downloaded firmware with smart switch?
Also, phone is now stuck at the downloading screen lol, how the hell do I turn the thing off?!
EDIT: NVM, got it turned off, will try smart switch again.
EDIT 2: Smart switch is actually downloading the firmware this time, panic over! Cheers for your help.
Ur welcome
Ive just found the reason why...
i forgot to turn off reactivation lock... when i disabled it, flashing was succesfull afterwards
Just tried to flash my SM-G920X It's a demo version of the S6.
( No calling. I'm ok with this it's not my problem)
Because it had the retail mode software installed that is a nuisance. I tried to flash over it many times. The retail mode locks the bootloader and can't be removed, its an administrator. wiping with android device manager just returns to stock+retailmode. retailmode documentation now says it can never be removed.
recovery mode wipe is forbidden.
cfautoroot and twrp both fail - its the retailmode lock
I tried flashing with G920FXXU1AOE3_G920FXEU1AODQ_XEU.zip with the *Phone bootloader update* ticked. It's a full unbranded rom from sammobile. It should have a bootloader?
It replaced the bootloader!!!!
Then hung. reboot phone.
"An error has occurred while updating device software. Use Emergency recovery function in Smart Switch PC software."
I can't. it demands a code from the programs last try when the update failed. Or you can try to use the sim registration serial number online check. But I no have sim! It's not registered. (it is not stolen I've already had a back and forth with samsung email serial number check. I got it from ebay)
Cannot power off! stuck on either download mode or emergency warning. Both bright blue/green whole screen. left it plugged in last night so it didn't drain the battery flat. Was very very hot this morning. I put it in the freezer for half an hour.
Think I can still use odin. It says added. I can still get it into download mode.
Just need to totally reflash the thing. But with what???
when I try to reflash bootloader I get...

Holy ****! There is something very wrong with the way odin deals with these things.
I just copied out the recovery.img file from the stock rom I've been trying to flash. Copied it over the one in here twrp-2.8.6.0-zeroflte.img.tar as suggested by this post. http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s6/help/solved-stuck-download-mode-failed-odin-t3104736/page2
I have recovery back!
This is an odin **** up as he says.
reboot. exactly where I was retailmode still there account still there.

me facing almost same situation, I want to remove demo crap from it, so I just root it as my first step but now phone is hang on Galaxy S6 live demo unit, I try to flash your recovery but I was not much lucky so please can you give some tips to solve issue, thanks
Heyy XDA,
Writing this post as I'm completely stumped on this one
Basically when I first got my S6 I rooted it and all, and everything was fine, I then unrooted it in order to update the OS to 5.1.1 which again all went fine.
This was about 4 days ago. Since this there hasn't been any issues what so ever, until this morning when the phone died. After charging it back up to 100% I switched it on and it just chilled in a bootloop.
From here I tried soft resetting the phone, but it stayed in the loop. I then tried clearing the cache, which again had no effect. I've also tried wiping the phone entirely and putting it back to factory which again did nothing to help and safemode didn't boot as it restarted as soon as the display lit up (baring in mind that the OS is completely stock and the phone is unrooted.)
After no avail with the phone, I decided to try rooting the phone, hoping that it would 'kick' it back to life as that's what Apple devices do... :good: , however after attempting to root the phone it just stayed on the samsung screen with the error 'recovery is not seandroid enforcing'.
Then I thought ... F*** ... and downloaded the 5.1.1 firmware for my current model (G920F, UK model, EE network) which I then tried to flash through ODIN v3.10.7, however I got the error of:

I've checked that this is the correct version, as well as checked the MD5 to ensure its not corrupted. Also I've tried restarting my PC and tried all 5 USB ports.
Anyone have any other ideas other than start moaning to Samsung and trick them into giving me a new phone??
Thanks in advance,
Dark :highfive:
If you don't have tripped knox, you definitively should bring it to warranty.
But I think, by installing root you tripped it already.
Now you have two options. The first is to bring it to warranty and 'pray' that they doen't discover the altered KNOX state.
The second is, you can search for a complete firmware with PIT file and everything.
I see that you understand how to flash phones, but I will again alert you an others that have the same problem and read that post: Be sure to select the PIT file which corresponds to your phone's size (32, 64, 128GB)
However, bring it first to warranty. If they doesn't want to repair, take second option which is PIT flashing. If that doesn't take efect either, you must bring it to repair, and unfortunately, pay to repair this phone.
Tried a different cable?
HI there.
I have had the GT-N8020 for around two years on contract with a major provider here in Australia.
My wife used it mostly over that time. Myself, I only realised how great a piece of hardware that it is only in the last couple of months since she now has an S5. I have claimed it daily, lighter than my laptop.
It is out of warranty. Samsung has organised a courier to pick it up, I just have to ring courier.
I asked for a costing as it is out of warranty. No reply on that. We will fix it. I have no doubt in that. But at what cost? The lady did not give an answer even after asking a couple of times. That in itself rings alarm bells. Anyway, VOIP, lag and language barriers, very frustrating. I was transferred from my phone provider to Samsung technical support. I did not ring Samsung directly.
I do not wish to send my device away to be fixed if I can fix it myself. I have been wanting to mess with Linux on the device at some point anyway. So here is my opportunity. I am not sure if I can recover my data that is on the tablet which at this point seems impossible.
What have I done so far?......
Researched a bit and ended up here on XDA. Read “Root & Recovery Install Guide” on here.
I a not sure which ODIN N8020 firmware I need, 'touch, ohne touch or stock. The links are dead anyway for my firmware. Could you recommend another location to get usable firmwares.
I installed the USB drivers
Installed Odin3 v1.85 – cycling power I can see my device being added and removed from the log window. All good there
Installed Kies – no version recognises my device
Installed SmartSwitchPC – did not recognise my device
I downloaded SuperSU v2.67
I have left the tablet to go completely flat and turn off. I then plugged in the charger which immediately brings back the Downloading nag screen. Grrrrr.
Will the tablet still charge if left plugged in?
If it cannot charge then sending it away might be my only option.
Are firmwares country specific or can I use any compatible one?
I am hoping it fully charges. When I plug it into the USB port the device will turn off after a few minutes, as it is still low power. Not sure if it can charge via USB. Currently left tablet plugged into charger, tablet is showing the green Android 'Downloading' nag screen.
In ODIN MODE
Product: GT-N8020
Current Binary: Samsung Official
System Status: Official
RP SWREV: A2
Samsung Galaxy note 10.1 white colour. 4G and wifi 16gb.
I am unable to get into recovery mode as there is NO 'Home' button on the note 10.1.
I am pretty sure it had 4.4.2 on it.
Thanks
