[Q] *root* WRITE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE - Samsung Galaxy S7 Questions and Answers

Question, I had a s6 128gb so I had nothing to worry about space but I've changed to an s7, rooted, and I can't find a fix for this. My Z5 xperia has no problem about sdcard fix.
Is this limited to s7 or its a marshmallow issue? Or should I mod it into an adoptable storage?

There is no root available for any US model. All bootloaders are locked for every carrier.

Adoptable Storage is the only option at the moment. There is a way to enable it in s7. Root not required. You will find with a quick google search (sorry, do not have the link right now)

Help Rooting my new Galaxy S6

Hey I was wondering if anyone can link me to a super simple guide on how to root my Samsung Galaxy S6, I don't care if I trip Knox or not, I just don't want to lose all my files, thanks .
I'm on 5.1.1
My Carrier is AT&T
My Version is G920A
My Kernel is from 9/19/15
I'm looking for the same thing... or any solution to help using Titanium Backup or something similar.
I've just bought a s6 (coming from a Note 2) and all my apps are saved with Titanium backup
From my experience, DON'T root your 5.1.1. If it was 5.0.2, you could do it easily with CF-autoroot. There are some unofficial root method and a root called "pingpong" root. Try search for that. I rooted my 5.1.1 and it have been bricked for almost a week now. It can't be fixed.

Need help rooting! Thanks. [Galaxy S6 g920f]

I want to root my samsung galaxy s6 non-edge - g920f.
The problem is, I found a video where you download the twrp from google drive, I couldn't download that file since too many users had already downloaded it.
I then searched for a one-click root, which failed since the ones I found don't support 6.0.1 or are only for the edge.
Would someone mind helping me? Thanks soo much in advance everyone.
this might help
I just recently rooted my gs6 running 6.0.1 by cf-autoroot. Just type cf-autoroot android 6.0.1 and it should pop up . if it doesnt then hit me up i will send you the download link. its quite easy so you shouldnt have any problems.
Here is the TWRP;

Hello guys, i want to root too, but for rooting with CF is it required to have a unlocked bootloader? And how to unlock my bootloader because I'll be flashing some custom ROMs?

[Completed] root G920I S6 without tripping knox 6.0.1

Samsung S6
Build id MMB29K.G920IDVU3EPGG
Model # SM-G920I
Version 6.0.1
Have searched through pingpong/kingroot (only 5.x), chainfire (trips knox) and copious websites/tutorials but seem to find that build number is not supported with any root options.
What options do I have to root the above samsung S6 without tripping knox?
Thks
Any info would be appreciated.

Hi and we to xda-assist,
actually your possibilities are very limited as you running a unsupported firmware, the exploits that ping-pong uses are closed on your firmware and I doubt that downgrading is a alternative because once you have the unsupported firmware version running on your device even the bootloader will be upgraded and you can't downgrade without relatively great risk of seriously damaging the phone, if can be done at all.
So next is probably to decide how important root privileges are to you and if you're willing to sacrifice your warranty for that..
I would nonetheless recommend you to ask in this forum again, may be someone with the same device has a progressive idea and can help you further.

By the way, it's always a good idea to research the device of interest regarding root & custom roms before you buy it..
Good luck

[Q] S8+ SM-G955FD, Anyway to ROOT & keep KNOX & Samsung Pay?

Hi,
Sorry if this has been said in a thread, i have read a few but i am so confused.
So far with my device i've only flashed XSA.
I'm wondering if it's possible to root this model S8+ without losing Samsung pay & KNOX?
Thank you
No.

Simple question about rooting s6 and s6 edge

So i have a verizon s6 running 7.0
baseband g920vvrs4dqk1
build # nrd90m.g920vvrs4dqk1
security patch nov.1 2017
I also have an at&t s6 edge running 7.0
baseband g925aucs7erc1
build # nrd90m.g925aucs7erc1
security patch march 1 2018
So I've been searching for months looking for info on xda and the web to get root for them but from everything I've found says it's not possible without tripping knox.. but everything seems to either brick, boot-loop or is not legit.
What I want to know is:
Can I get root for either one of them?
I'm not worried about the warranty since they are already expired or Knox since if I can get root I'd like to get rid of it all together and I really want them rooted so I can get a debloat Rom for them and play around with them..
So can someone please help me and give me some good news for Christmas... thanks for any time, help and/or advise it's greatly appreciated and respected
You can't root any AT&T and Verizon variant of S6 series (S6, S6 Edge, S6 Edge Plus) no matter what.

Because the locked bootloader? That sucks.. was hoping it was just because of the warranty and no one wanting to avoid it...

Yeah, the root tool is free. But not others. Just have a try.
Ok I'll give it a shot...
