Freeze after flashing a marshallow rom based - ONE Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi all, i've flashed a lot of rom with android 5. The problem is with android M, if i flash a rom based on Android M the phone works perfectly for about 15 mins, but then it restart itself and everytime it reaches the lockscreen it freeze again and then it repeat this process forever. I don't think it's a problem of the rom for 2 reasons:
1) A lot of people are using it without problem and they are really happy.
2) I flashed about 4/5 roms with android M and everytime the same story.
For flashing the rom i used this method:
1) Format /data and /system
2) Flash firmware
3) Flash rom
4) Flash gapps
5) Flash Kernel
6) Format dalvik
what's wrong? With android L my phone works really fine.

1) Wipe > Advanced Wipe > Dalvik/ART, System, Data, Cache
2) Flash latest cm13 nightly
3) Flash rom
4) Flash gapps
5) Flash Kernel

So.. you suggest to flash CM13 nightly before trying something else?

Yes, if you are coming from a different rom, you need to flash cm13 nightly first, as this will have all files needed. You can do all steps at one time without rebooting to system or recovery. I did leave out 1 step though
1) Wipe > Advanced Wipe > Dalvik/ART, System, Data, Cache
2) Flash latest cm13 nightly
3) Go back to Wipe and format system only this time
4) Flash rom
5) Flash gapps
6) Flash Kernel

Flashing a JB ROM

Hey, I'm currently on MIUI ics. I know I have to wipe/factory reset everything. But is it safe to flash on the current CWM? Or do I need to update it or something? Do I just flash the new JB rom like I would switching from MIUI to a stock ics rom? I'm a noob, sorry if this doesn't make sense.
What version of CWM are you running?
You should be fine, but it never hurts to check. You flash a JB rom just like any other. Wipe wipe wipe and flash.
The whole wipe wipe wipe is completely unnecessary. One wipe is sufficient and any additional won't do anything.
It's like saying that unless you wipe exactly 3 times the Android Gods are going to demand a human sacrifice for your phone to boot.
lol i think dvorak meant wipe cache, wipe dalvik cache, wipe data (wipe wipe wipe) but that's my take..
anyway, if you can flash MIUI ICS with whatever CWM version you currently have, you should be able to flash other JB ROM. Nandroid as always.. Goodluck!

This is what I did :
1. Boot into recovery and perform a nandroid backup of my MIUI installation.
2. Wipe.
3. Flash XenonHD 9 JB ROM + marmite 4.2 kernel.
My phone is running really smooth now. Good luck.

Yep, that's it. Of course wiping everything 3 times would be unnecessary.

if you get a cluster f*#@ of problems then clean install. It isn't that hard. Use Titanium Backup and good to go.
In Recovery:
1. wipe data/factory reset (this formats /data, /cache and .android_secure on sd)
2. format /system, /boot
this leaves you with only bootloader, recovery and radio...dalvik-cache resides on /data, so it's gone already.
3. flash rom
4. gapps & custom-kernel (if needed). No need to let the phone boot & settle before flashing them (most custom-kernels have a script that automatically wipes /cache & dalvik during kernel-install)
5. reboot
6. Run TB -- restore missing apps with data --1st option under restore
just updating rom:
1. flash rom-zip
2. wipe /cache and dalvik-cache
3. reboot
Do this before reporting any issues on the thread since the problems are often related to this and not the ROM or kernel.

[Q] [BIG Question] Installing Slim ICS Rom

Hello Everyone,
I've just tried to install the slim ics rom.
I've a Nexus S with a version of 2.3.1 android with modaco rom, and i want to "upgrade" my phone to 4.0.4 with slim ics rom.
In the rom site, i saw that i need to "download latest cm9 nightly or any ICS kernel (odin or cmw flashable)", and then: "Enter CWM Recovery, Wipe data, Format System ( In Mounts and Storage)".
I didn't get it - I don't know what to do - to wipe the date (please explain me how to do it), and then install all the cm9 nightly rom which weighs 128mb, and after that the rom?
Thanks,
Or.

Don't worry about the cm9 rom procedure, here's what to do. I have attached a wipe all zip which is flashable in cwm recovery. Some of this is a bit of overkill, but it will get the job done.
Go to cwm recovery ... wipe data/factory reset, wipe cache partition, go to advanced and wipe dalvik cache. Return to main menu and install zip from sdcard, select zip, and flash the wipe all zip which is attached. Now flash Slim 4.2 and then flash the common zip. Reboot and you're done.

So don't I need to install cm9?
I only need to wipe as you said and then install the slim ics 4.2?
Thanks!!
Edit:
Never mind, thank you!!
I've just installed the Slim Beans (4.1.2), and it works excellent!
I'd a problem after installing cm10 and then slim beans - the google keyboard crashed, so I didn't have any keyboard. I repaired by wiping the data and cache.
Thanks, it works very good!

[Q] LiquidSmooth 2.7 [S2 I9100]

Hey guys, I downloaded the official LiquidSmooth v2.7 installed it on my Galaxy S2 i9100 following the usual installation procedures. The problem is when I try to reboot it, it can't go beyond the new boot animation. I tried to re-install it but same problem persists. I would like to hear your advice, please.

Sounds like you have corrupt system files. You might need to start from scratch here. Try downloading the ROM again with a solid internet connection. A big factor is if you are coming from a different rom or stock android. Use Titanium Backup Pro or GO Backup Pro to back your phone up. The official Roms are from [goo.im] then navigate to your model make sure you have the correct one. Make sure you aren't crossing any data from a different rom including app data this can corrupt system files unless you are coming from a previous version of LiquidSmooth. If you are coming from a different rom you need to factory reset > wipe cache partition > then wipe dalvik cache all in the CWM recovery menu or whichever recovery you have then don't forget it to install your gapps zip. If you are trying to upgrade from a older version of Liquid Smooth before you install you need to wipe the cache partition and dalvik cache > Install Liquid 2.7 > wipe dalvik cache again > then install your gapps zip again I had to. If you are still having problems you might have to [format the sdcard] also in the recovery menu but can be risky. This is your last resort to try I've had to format mine before. Let me know if this helps. If not then you'll need to use a different rom or flash stock android back to your phone.

[Q] Before flashing a 5.1 rom over a stock 5.0.2 rooted do i need a cm12.1 nightly ?

I was on CM12 stock 5.0.2 (version 12.0-YNG1TAS2I3) and i wanted to root my phone , so I unlocked bootloader and rooted the phone but now I want to flash a new Rom but I ve read in a couple of rom threads that we have to flash another 5.1nightly before flashing a ROM and I am not sure I understand this part.
I would be grateful if someone could help me with the process of flashing a 5.1 rom and gaaps for the first time on a freshly rooted phone
P.S : ( I also want to use calaukin's gaaps modified by mohit (http://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-one/themes-apps/gapps-modified-slim-gapps-calkulin-t3082242).
Flashing the CM12.1 nightly first ensures that your firmware is up to date. The process goes like this:
1. Download the latest CM12.1 nightly and install it with your custom recovery (no need to flash gapps, but make sure you perform a full wipe (system, data, cache, dalvik cache) first).
2. Boot the phone up once.
3. Boot back into your custom recovery and perform a full wipe.
4. Install your chosen ROM + gapps.
5. Boot phone.
6. Enjoy.

Thank you so much . I followed your guide too so thank you for the support .
It is not necessary to flash nightly first, most ROM threads provide a separate firmware flashable .zip (just make sure it is flashed correctly, cause people reported issues with newer TWRP than 2.8.6.0)

I used to share your opinion. But, while a lot of ROM threads do provide a firmware zip, they aren't maintained, it's usually uploaded and forgotten about. Flashing the nightly ensures that you're on the very latest firmware available.

[Q] Question about flashing a rom for the very first time - Resurrection-Remix

So I am being cautious here.
They mention this:
you will need to flash a latest cm12 nightly before flashing this build AFTER my RR 5.3.0 builds to avoid reboots and bootloops!
I have no idea what this means. Is this valid for in my case? I am currently running stock (just got my One this week).
Thanks!
It's instructing you to flash the nightly so that you're on the right firmware (it's included in the CM nightly). So you'd do this:
1. Download the nightly to your phone.
2. Boot into TWRP recovery and perform a full wipe (system, data, cache, dalvik cache) from the advanced wipe menu.
3. Install the nightly with the install menu.
4. Boot the phone up once.
5. Boot back into TWRP and perform another full wipe.
6. Install your chosen ROM (plus gapps).
7. Reboot into your new ROM and enjoy.
Before you do any of this I'd suggest you make a nandroid backup with TWRP, and also backup your EFS if you haven't done so already. You'll probably benefit from looking at my guide here:

Thanks so much!!!
