What was your solution to get MARSHMALLOW from accepting the first app you choice as the DEFAULT? @raad777

I'm not sure he found a solution, I think he's looking for one still, as am I... Has anyone found a way to change this setting without root privileges?
Better open with apk
As far as I know say for example I try to open a video file it will give me a list of applications and 2 options, use once or make default, use once is as is described won't make things default. If you do choose default for say samsung video player then you need to go to app manager and clear default permissions for that app. I'm on mm and never had this problem you have described, only thing I can think of is flash a new firmware via odin or rom via recovery

I've just released a new application onto the Android Market if anyone would like to try it. I really apreciate your feedback !
The application is "Apps to Phone" and the purpose is to simplify the install process on your phone. In other words the appliction will receive messages from androlicious.com and start the install process.
The steps required are:
1. Download & Install "Apps to Phone" application from Android Market
2. Start the application and connect your phone with Androlicious website
3. From the website go to an application details page and click on "Send To Phone"
The application doesn't install anything without user permission, I find this more safe than other solutions even if this requires an extra step.
(The application only works if you have Android 2.2 or later)
Changelog
v1.0
Initial version
Tried this, but it just opens the market with the app you select on the site. I guess Auto-Installer is not working. Any ideas?

For the moment this is the main functionality, is just to simplify the install process so you don't have to search the app from the phone. Just go to a website, browse and send apps to phone.
I'm aware of the auto install (like the app from app brain) ...but that is a "hack" not a solution. Google already released some updates and that solution doesn't work anymore.
The auto feature will be included only if that solution is official and supported by the Android API.
thanks for feedback
Okay nice. One more request, probably a long shot but worth asking. I believe 2.2 introduced C2DM which is what is used by these types of apps. Is it possible to use the C2DM API to push apk files on a PC to a phone and auto-install them?
I believe not. Through C2DM it is recommended to send short messages only, like a notification. The application, based on the message received can perform actions, like downloading files from a URL...
The problem with the auto-install is that you need a special permission for installing packages, but that permission is only available for system apps. For the moment only one solution exists for auto-install, and that is to trick the Google Talk service to start the installation...
Ooh okay. Thanks. Good luck for Androlicious and let us know when auto-install feature becomes available
Hello.
You download an app, it gives you a big list of what permissions it wants, and you can either agree to it or not use the app...
Is there someway of limiting those permissions? Or provide fake permissions?
Like in most iphone apps you can choose if you want to allow gps, contacts, etc.
I am searching for an app thats will limit those permissions prior to installing it. Won't do me any good if I want to deny contacts access but I do it after its already taken it.
Cheers and thanks
P.S. I'm using a rooted LG G2 d802 with android 4.4.2
I don't think it's possible, even Google's last Play Store update doesn't reveal every single permission when you update stuff, dunno if this limitation affects it or no.
You can use "app ops" (search for it in google play). It is a hidden menu from android os. Obviously it works after installation (iOS works the same, you first install the app and later you decide which permission accept/deny).

Try to search "3c toolbox" in Google.
This app has many integrated tools within it.
You can change permission also.
Good luck
How to install apps on your Android Wear smartwatch
>> By David [email protected]
1. Find your apps
Google has kindly put up a gallery of Android Wear apps on Google Play – most of these apps have been updated to provide something else on your wrist besides simple notifications. A growing number of them (including @here) have been built specifically for watches rather than phones, but are still installed through your mobile.
You can find the same selection from the Android Wear app on your smartphone: choose 'Browse suggested apps' from the front page of the app.
2. If you've ever installed apps on your phone then you can install apps on your smartwatch – the process is exactly the same for Android Wear apps whether you're using Google Play on the web or the Play app on your phone. Tap through the confirmation screens (and any payment information dialogs) to start downloading your chosen app. Apps specifically built for Android Wear will be transferred over automatically and won't show up as icons in the list of apps on your smartphone.
3. If you want to run an app from your watch, with the new Lollipop 5.1 update there is a new list of apps to choose from before you hit the old actions list - just tap any app to start using it. The menu is the first list that comes up when you swipe to the left before contacts.
Most apps also come with a voice command you can use as an alternative way of launching them (check the app descriptions for details).
4. Watch navigation and Launching from your phone, Setting up notifications>>Setting up default apps
Good tut
Thanks for the tutorial. Very easy to follow.
How to install apps on your Android wear
Soon I'm planning to hit a purchase to android wear smartwatch & the informative content that you have posted will be helpful for me in future.. Thanks a lot for the same.
Useful information. But will it work, if I am using a modified version of Android. Like I am thinking about having a Block Modular Smart watch.

Can I just say what a relief to find someone who actually knows what they're talking about on the internet? You definitely know how to bring an issue to light and make it important. More people need to read this and understand this side of the story. I can't believe you're not more popular because you definitely have the gift.

Normally I almost never pick a default app because I have several browsers and when I click a link somewhere I like to choose what browser I want to load it up with each time. But now I upgraded to 5.1.1 and after I selected the browser the first time now it auto has become the default browser and I have not found any way of fixing it. I think once I was able to do it from the applications menu, then something changed with an update and I had to do it from the recent tasks window, or the other way around. But now I cannot find any list of default apps or setting to prevent apps from automatically becoming default upon first being selected to perform some option.
Am I missing something here? Google isn't likely to just remove a crucial aspect of the OS, so it's probably me. If you know I'd appreciate it.
Thanks.

You can use it to change default apps.
Make sure that when you select the browser you want to use (I strongly recommend Google Chrome) that instead of pressing the big icon, you press the only once button below it.
This is what I always normally do, as I never actually pick a default. But since the 5.1.1 update I do not even see the option. As soon as I press the app I want to open the thing up with it vanishes and always uses that app from now on. I cannot find the built in default apps list. Apps are all fine and good but where is the built in and why can't I press to use an app once?
Well using atm my stepsdads asus ZenPad 3S 10(Z500M) since my phone has to repair screen....and for not be 2 person login into google account and then all bookmarks etc can get mixed unless u dont want account to syncronize at all :S So i can see there is a "create another profile option" so i use that with "allow to install all apps etc"" but when comming into user and login to my google account i cant do anything like change system settings, install apps already install on other profile, get access to allow uknown resource apk, developer option(yes i know how to get it and there no build_number but on other profile it is) and cant access storage fullly.
also when i want to use "go launcher z" as main UI as i do on phone and have prime user the ui starting and all okay but then after some minutes or longer the intro startup for first time comes again and that continues without stopping and every time all settings i just changed are gone! same happens every time i log to other profile or reboot tablet.
I planning on somehow uninstall asus apps and some security programs with ADB access but i dont know whick and how to change the main system security to allow same as main profile and Asus support wont or cant help me at all so help
I want to install what i want as in denmark the Goverment only deliver mail in special app "e-boks" but sometimes with updates it fails and only with older manual install apk it works so need that function to allow uknown resources for that
