UK S7E software update - Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge Guides, News, & Discussion

Just received and installed a software update for my S7 Edge for those interested.

First thing I've noticed, although only minor is the keyboard at the edge seems more accurate.
Had a few missed key presses on number '1' key on the original software but thought it was my fault.
Now it's spot on.

No camera updates?

Not that I've noticed. But,
Update:
After running with this update all day, I have noticed much better Ram management.
It now seems to sit no lower than around 1gb available even after having used many of my apps and games running off & on through out the day.
On the original firmware I was often dropping down to 700mb left.

Wonder when we'll see the first lot of updates for the G930F.

What is your CSC code?

Is that a stock handset from Samsung or a network branded one? My stock handset is showing no updates available - perhaps they're rolling it out gradually?

I am in the UK, and I haven't got this update yet

If that fixes the issue with pressing the number 1 button, I want it! I think they must have lowered the sensitivity on the other side where your palm touches the screen accidentally or allow a second input. In the UK with an unlocked edge but no update for me yet.

Got mine from o2.
No branding that I can see?

Apparently everyone except the unlocked phones have the update available. Guess we'll have to wait, although it's usually the other way around.

Yeah unlocked btu s7e no update.. but I dont have any issues

Sim Free S7E bought from Carphone Warehouse, did a manual check for updates and got it this morning.

the watch is a 2017 model and is an almost high end watch so we dont need to be worried much...
Rumor that that watch will not receive Oreo. That's sad. It was just released last summer I believe.
i hope they change swipe left (or right) to something else, doesnt make sense to assigned 2 swipes - left and right - for 1 same function (change face)

IT 4g/lte no update for now...
Is anyone else having any issue while downloading the OTA? If I go to system updates it keeps saying "downloading ...". Looks like it starts downloading but the no progress at all.
Any clue?

New december update is here

Hello everyone. Today my S7 Edge received the December security patch which was released few days ago. It weights around 25mb and it definitely improved scrolling smoothness through app drawer and UI in general. I saw some other people report minor changes in system apps. So did you receive December update and (if you did) what are your thoughts?
I'm using the S7 Exynos variant (G930W8) and I still haven't received the December patch. I assume that your phone is the Snapdragon variant.

My bad. Unlocked variant? If so then it's not surprising you got the update already. Mine is carrier locked and the OS update schedule says nothing about a December patch yet so I'll have to wait and see. How's the performance on yours on this patch?
Where in Europe? What CSC is it??
so i just read some disturbing cmnts on gsmarena. ppl are complaining that the new update has rendered their phone useless. rapid battery discharge, sudden reboots and shutdowns, stuttering etc.
i am on batman rom wanted to test to the new update but if its as ****ty as the ppl say then i don't wanna waste my time flashing the new update. so mind telling me hows the new update for you?

On phone arena and gsmarena I see people complain about every single I mean every single update that was released and I personally don't know should I believe in that comments or not because I never had any of problems listed there.

Yes I am using unlocked variant and I definitely see improvement in overall performance, speed, animations in UI and I notice that scrolling in app drawer is smoother. I am really happy with this update.

Nice. Wonder when this is going to hit Canada here. We just got the November security update not long ago on Rogers. Really want this December update now.
USA Tmobile S7 customer. Just updated to the Dec 21, 2017 patch, and it definitely didn't fix the 2hr battery life problem the previous patch caused. I noticed over the past couple days that the low-light and rear camera pics had become less clear and less sensitive too. A brief test right now suggests that might be better. And it looks like they fixed the word prediction/auto-correct problem. We'll see how it goes as time goes on. Regardless, after being loyal to Samsung since the s3, I think I'll get the newest version of the Pixel next. This battery stuff is b.s. and, from what I can tell, it's affecting every s6/edge, s7/edge and s8/edge in the country, and has been since the Oct/Nov patch.
I'm not sure how a security update would affect navigation smoothness... ? Maybe it's about clearing the cache after the update install, not the update itself ? Anyway, it's always good to see it doesn't slow down the phone lol
And to answer the question, exynos version here, did not received any update yet :/

I have rechived update yesterday, it was there when i manually updated. For me it may be improvement. Maybe everything works just slightly smooter..So positive feedback from Finland and exynos variant.
I cleared cache after update just to be sure.
I really should migrate to PHN from BTU . Samy has problem with BTU recently! In past BTU was the first CSC to get update but now it is the last or even worse it does not get update for months.

1.24.400.2 update received, UK

Hi, just as an update/ fyi, I got the 1.24.400.2 update this morning in the UK.
I have a Taiwanese U11+
Does anyone know what improvements this will bring? Is it the HDR10 update?
As usual, it only said 'software improvements'

Me too, I think this is not the HDR update
But is not taiwanese version , this update is for Hong kong version.
Is there anywhere we can find out what improvements/ fixes are included with this update?
I did a quick Google search and nothing relevant came up
can you please check what is the google play services version? it might have updated that (as far as I see the EU version uses the Nougat play services)
I think if it was the hdr10 update, they'd list it
Yes got the update as well. Too soon to notice any significant changes but did notice the always on display backlight starts in the bottom middle rather than is lit up from the bottom right hand side, so the display looks a bit more symmetrical in very dark environments.
Mhhh.. Nothing here. (The Netherlands)

11.9.51 Play services
Sent from my HTC U11 plus using Tapatalk
It includes Android security patch level December 1, 2017..
I have found that the unthemed navbar was black and now its white
The changes seem display related. Other thing I noticed is I think the display doesn't get as dim as the previous version (which is a bad thing!)

The U11+ shipped with oreo. This update is just "system enhancements".
Things I noticed:
The bottom nav bar is now white when not hidden in an app.
The brightness behavior is now changed. Inused to leave it on "auto half" and now I need it lower.
Screen capture and edit tool now works very smoothly.
Sent from my HTC U11 plus using Tapatalk
ok it sounds like to me they did an update to the tw version just before Christmas which was 1.23, then the same update got applied to the HK model but have named it 1.24, and i imagine they will do the same to the EU model shortly and call it 1.25 (or something like that)
I have the white navbar since I got the u11plus, EU version. October patch.

3rd update 132 just arrived!

This is why I prefer the Chinese version. Excellent. I'll post my thoughts.
And I'll see if this affects Google and closes the new method of installing it. Or better, allows a simple Google play store install now that Trump might be easing up on the ban
Global version is releasing new build upon launch by end of the month. So I think they are about the same

That's good then! Release notes available? Impressive start by Huawei even though under pressure
Accubattery stating lower power consumption, but I'll wait to see if that's real
No release note since it is not official launch yet in my country till next week
Fwiw upgraded without any issues, Google play still working fine.
4th update lol. Patch 1 for 132 arrives. Every couple of days now?
I'm not complaining
Still on .125 patch3 on my LIO-AL00 imported from China - are you guys doing anything differently to get the .132 update such as using a VPN? I've tried that and using HiSuite but it still says no available updates.

Motorola OTA App Increased Its Size -- Software Update On The Way?

So as you may have noticed I'm really eager for this Android 10 update and very happy for having made the decision to switch to Android One devices.
I just noticed my "Motorola OTA" app has increased in size. Went from 145KB to 178KB.
Does this mean it's getting ready to pull an update from the servers? Thanks for being patient with me.

mine is 551KB... but i don't think it has to do with an imminent update, that was the case 5-6 yrs ago when they used to actually send an update through play store to ready the update
