So, I've recently received a Galaxy Gear 2 for my birthday, and I've read up on it. It seems as if the app selection is very, very small. However, I had my eyes set on one particular app: RunKeeper. I got my hopes up after reading an article on RunKeeper's website about its integration with gear. However, after connecting it with my S4, I scoured the gear appstore for RunKeeper, however I could only find Runtastic, which I definitely DO NOT want to switch to. Does anyone know how to download runkeeper to my gear? I do not want to have to run with my phone in my pocket.

Easy, just update the tizen into Android and then install Runkeeper - simple: http://forum.xda-developers.com/gear-2/help/qa-porting-android-to-gear-2-t3018159
EDIT: install the android wear first, then google fit and only after that, runkeeper. Just tested it out.
Hi guys,
I just bought a Gear S2 and found out that Gear Manager and the other required software from the Google Play Store are not supported for the OPT.
I found a thread here providing the APKs in order to support the Gear S2 on the OPT, however it does not work for me as it failed when it requires me to download the Gear S2 Plugin.
Used a Samsung S4 to download the required softwares from the Playstore and extracted the APKs.
Hence I'm sharing them here for those who are in the same situation as me.
I have tested the APKs with my OPT and everything works fine.
Compatibility List as of 11 Oct 2015:
Oneplus 2
If you tested other phones that works let me know and I can update this list.
Required APKs:
Samsung Gear
Samsung Accessory Service
Gear S2 Plugin
Enjoy!
Yes finally can attach outside links!
Thank you!! This worked for me for my galaxy note 5!!

Yours is a Samsung. Should be able to download all the required software from the Playstore right?

I have an SM-N9200 on AT&T, and no matter what tried it wouldn't connect. No updates available or anything. Wish I knew what the issue was, but this fixed it.
The watch connected just fine with a note 4, it was very frustrating. Looks like from the reviews on the gear app in the Samsung store I'm not alone.

Great! Glad that it solved your problems.
Thanks for your effort. I tried these apps as well but still getting following error: 'The operating system on your phone has been modified in an unauthorized way, and is not compatible with the Samsung Gear app. Check your operating system and try again.'
I am on a custom ROM and rooted Note 2.
Do I need to install an official firmware or is there a way around?
Thanks.

I'm totally a newbie in custom rom and rooted stuff but the error seems to point to a unsupported rom or rooted device. I have no rooted device to test if the s2 works with it.
Is anyone having issues connecting to the gear app store within gear manager? I'm getting a white blank screen? Do we need the latest updates Samsung released to the play store? If so can you port them with your Samsung device?

It was blank just like you said couple of hours ago for me too. It works for me now. Try it. I did not do any updates nor was there any updates to apply.
There is updates for both the gear plugin and the gear manager. You won't see the updates if your on a non supported device. That's why someone with a supported device should continue to extract the latest updates and post them in this thread.
This was already posted by me. Reporting this.
Duplicate of Samsung gear manager and Samsung accessory service for phones that can't install

Hi all
I have a question and I have searched this forum for answer but no luck.
The question:
Apprently there are some limitations in the Samsun gear app for ios, espicially regarding gear watch faces.
I really like the watch faces from Belvek Gear O'clock but I cant find them on my iphone gear app.
I have tried and to pair my gear s3 with an galaxy s5 phone and there im able to find the faces. I have downloaded and installed one watch faces and then paired my gear s3 with my iphone again and were able to redownload from gear app on iphone.
The problem is that when I pair my gear s3 to another phone all data/app/ s-health history and so on gets deleted
So is there anyway to be able to download the paid watchfaces on the samsung phone without having the watch paired, and then transfer those via Gear watch designer?
Thanks for you time
\jesper
I'm having the same problem too would greatly appreciate some help with this
Thanks
Paul
I got a gear S3 (SM-R760) a few days ago.
One thing that immediately annoyed me was samsung wanting to switch my S9 to all samsung apps (for text, mail and cal), but so far it also works with normal google apps. Also Samsung Pay is not available for me which is a real bummer. But the most annoying little thing that came across is the way some Notifications like WhatsApp get handled, only the last message is shown.
From the information I got online I guess the last problem is only present in Tizen 3 but not in the newer Galaxy Watch with Tizen 4.
Can I somehow get Samsung Pay to work?
Is there a way to update the ROM myself to Tizen 4? If so, how?
Would Android Wear be an alternative maybe? But from what I read in the Forum the development on that is still not far enough for "normal use".
Thank you for any help in advance!
Finally thinking of upgrading from my older Gear 2. Over time I have collected quite a few watch faces. Am I correct in assuming that none of these will be transferable to the Watch 4?
There was another thread about this. They will work. My wife went from active2 to watch4 and had her favorite watchface from the galaxy store in the galaxy wearable app and when she switched all she did was tap the old watchface and boom it worked
Awesome, thank you!
