Just bought one this morning, cant wait to install this, but the drop box account says This account's public links are generating too much traffic and have been temporarily disabled, anyone able to mirror "CMP-738a-update-2011-01-26-rls4.img" Thanks!
Agreed, need alternate download sites plz!
Sorry Guys, Didn't expect that much traffic - DropBox temporarily suspended the account. Looking for a new home - will be done by tonight.

Why not try multiupload which sends it to 7 different hosters for instant mirroring? I see you already have release 5 being tested which rumor has it allows adb access. I won't ask for when you expect to release but am curious how smoothly the tests are going?

I literally went down the list and wiped data/cache for all the apps cause checkin service, download manager....anything with google in it and gmail were not doing it for me..but after wiping all of them and doing a reboot it finally worked for me and I've installed a dozen things since then like soundhound(recognize song app), palringo(instant messenger...does voice chat walkie talkie style), google voice
(free sms from tablet)....miren browser (in my opinion the best phone browser and ironically originally a chinese browser ported to english.) etc...be interested to see what yall consider must have tablet apps.
Bargaincell has a mini hdmi 6 foot cable as the daily special for $3.99 shipped @ http://www.bargaincell.com/bargaincell_daily_deal.html
cache
I had the same issue. It took a few cache wipes and reboots but it finally worked. Neat little gadget but it does have some draw backs, for it's price point not a terrible buy. Would like to see Honeycomb on it but not sure the CPU could handle it. Tried to find an overclocking app but none seem to recognize this chip.
Market worksss!! Can this be used to make calls via sipdroid?? GV?
Fantastic work...I grab one of these today at CVS for $100 just to play around with it. As my evo is my daily driver...got rooted with no issues. Having a bit of problems with the market but I am troubleshooting this via posts in this thread and on slate droid. Thanks for the great work!

1) It's broken, check the website.
2) It's warez. Don't even mention it here or you WILL get banned.
What is it?
This is an updated (and slightly modified) version of redphx's awesome Google Chrome extension APK Downloader.
It allows you to download APKs from the Play Store webpage via your desktop browser directly onto your computer.
The original version stopped working as of Google Chrome version 20+ because starting with this Chrome version, all Google Chrome extension require to use the manifest version 2. When I noticed, I checked the author's page for any updates. But there were no updates on that.
Update: Earlier, I said that the original APK Downloader extension stopped working because it uses Manifest version 1 and that Google Chrome dropped support for all extensions that use Manifest version 1.
However, gt573 noted that he can still use the original extension (v1.2.1) with Chrome 21.
So, I checked again the Manifest version 1 support schedule and I found that I was wrong there. Manifest version 1 was announced deprecated with the release of Chrome 18, but will be partitially supported until "early 2013".
Nethertheless, the original APK Downloader (v1.2.1) does not work for me since my Chrome was update to 21.0.1180.60 m. The extension constantly throws content security policy exceptions when trying to download any App, which prevents the extension from working at all. Additionally, this is the error message I get on the extension page:
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",
"lightbox_stop_slideshow": "Stop slideshow",
"lightbox_full_screen": "Full screen",
"lightbox_thumbnails": "Thumbnails",
"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
And according to the recent comments on the author's webpage, there's a bunch of other users who have/had the same problem with v1.2.1 within the last days. (For a detailed explanation of manifest version changes in Chrome and what that means for the original APK Downloader, click here to read the full story.)
So: If APK Downloader v1.2.1 stopped working for you, feel free to use this updated version.
What was changed?
So.. Basically, this is the original APK Downloader v1.2.1 extension for the Google Chrome browser, downloaded from the author's - redphx - webpage. However, these are the changes that I made:
As of version 1.3.0
Updated the extension manifest version from 1 to 2
Replaced deprecated functions in JavaScript and references in manifest.json
Changed JavaScript formatting from compressed to "Pretty Print" (so that the source code is readable for everybody)
Removed Google Analytics Code (Sorry redphx, all credits to you! But using GA for this, without even anonymizing the User IPs, is a No-Go as I think).
Changed the download redirect Url (when clicking the icon in the Url bar) from the author's webpage to a local domain "http://localhost/[..]".
Removed all other "extra" code, that was not used for the actual functionality.
Replaced extension icons.
As of version 1.3.1
Changed the download redirect Url (when clicking the icon in the Url bar) from"http://localhost/[..]" to this thread's URL, because v1.3.0 required a local web server to be running for the extension in order to function.
As of version 1.3.2
Changed the download redirect Url (when clicking the icon in the Url bar). Instead of open a new tab, as of version 1.3.2 it will simply reload the current Play Store URL and start the download!
As of version 1.3.3
Fixed redirect bug, introduced in version 1.3.2
Major code clean up (reduced number of files from 16 to 12).
As of version 1.3.4
Improved new reload function to support Play Store URLs that contain a hash key already.
Get Started - Download
To install the extension the steps are as follows: download and extract the following zip archive to your computer.
Direct download link:
apkdownloader-1.3.1.zip
apkdownloader-1.3.2.zip
apkdownloader-1.3.3.zip
apkdownloader-1.3.4.zip
How to set up?
After you extracted the downloaded zip file to your computer, open Google Chrome and go to the extension page; you can copy and paste into the Url bar: chrome://chrome/extensions/
Load it
Now, enable "Developer mode" and load the "APK Downloader"-extension from the directory where you extracted it to.
Set it up - Google-Account
To be able to download from the Play Store, you need to authenticate all requests. Therefore you need to "log in to your Google Account" at the extension's option page.
On the extension's options page, log in with your Google-Account (email-address and password) - the same Account that you used with your device! Also, you will need your Android Device-Id (which is part of the algorithm to generate a valid request key).
Note: Basically this is not a "login" in the common sense. Your credentials are stored safely in Chrome's local data storage - on your own computer!!!
Set it up - Android Device-Id
To get your Android Device-Id, type in the dialer of your phone...
Code:
*#*#8255#*#*
*#*#TALK*#*#
... and you will get the "GTalk Service Monitor" screen like the following. Search for "DEVICE-ID:". Everything that comes after "android-", that is your Device-Id.
OR
Use my App "Android Device-ID"
(Almost) Done
The extension is now available and ready set up. However, you need to follow 1 more step to actually use it; you need to disable SSL warnings. Therefore please read on at the original APK Downloader page at: http://codekiem.com/2012/02/24/apk-downloader/
Credits
All credits for the extension goes to redphoenix89 (or redphx @xda)! It's his code - I did only cosmetics.
Legal Note / Disclaimer
Finally, please note that the use of this Chrome extension is violating Google's Play Store TOS! You've been warned.
As Wesnam pointed out the version 1.3.0 requires a local webserver to be running in order for the extension to work. I fixed that, so everybody can use it. Please download version 1.3.1 (click here).
APK downloader 1.2.1 seemed to work just as well on google chrome 21 as your 1.3.1. Neither will download the IBM think tablet app, which is a free app. I get an error with both extensions. Any idea if there is a fix?
Looks good, thx. Was always a bit worried about it using his server.
To everyone: I checked the code and there's no suspicious stuff in there, just what's expected to be there (a number of calls to the Market). 100% legit.

There's a difference in the way they do not work. Original APK Downloader (v1.2.1) doesn't work at all. Mine doesn't work if there're server-side validations to be passed, such as country limitation, device limitation or screen size limitation (and of course you can download only free apps). For the IBM app there's a limit for the screen resolution. So you need to have a device registered with the same email address you use for the extension, that is compatible with the app's screen resolution minimum: A screen width of 800 pixels or more and screens classified as Xlarge. Do you match these criteria?
I just installed v1.2.1 last night and a quick test verified that it was able to download apps with my current version of google chrome (21). I only downloaded one app and it was one by the extension developer, I don't know if that makes a difference. Anyway, it wouldn't download the app I was after (IBM think) which is what brought me here. I was able to download another tablet app with your extension that the market tells me is not compatible with my device so I thought it would bypass the device and screen limitations. My device(Galaxy note sgh-i717) has 800 x 1280 resolution. It is running android 4.0.4. I changed the dpi to 160 in build.prop to match xlarge, still no go. Just for full disclosure (not asking for build.prop help here) I have tried modifying my build.prop to make my sgh-i717 appear as a Tab 10.1, but it didn't work, it still show as an sgh-i717 in the market.

That's odd. But I checked back and according to the Manifest version 1 support schedule, the support for v1 extensions is not yet dropped - unlike I said in OP. According to the schedule the support will be dropped in "early 2013". Thus, APK Downloader v1.2.1 should still work as it did all the time; also with the latest Chrome versions. Now, to explain you why I said/thought it was:
The thing is that I used v1.2.1 almost every day and I never had problems to download Apps, except for a few that were labeled as non-compatible with my devices in the play store. (I will come back on that later..) Then, a few days ago, the extension just stopped working without me making any changes. So I opened Chrome's developer console and saw that the extension threw some content security policy errors fired by the extension's Javascript code.
Then I checked the author's website and saw a lot of recent comments by users having the same issue - that the extension just stopped working for them.
Since I've developed a few Chrome extensions myself, I remembered that the changelog between Manifest 1 and 2 includes a new content security policy and also that Manifest 1 was announced deprecated in Chrome 18.
So I checked my Chrome version and saw that it was updated just that morning (from 20.x to 21.0.1180.60 m). Hence, I thought that the exceptions, thrown by the extension, were due to the "fact" that the old content security policy, which was used before Manifest version 2, was unsupported with that Chrome-Update.
So I updated the extension's source code to use Manifest version 2. Finally, I had no more content security policy exceptions in the dev console and the downloads worked again.
And because there was no update by redphx and I've seen a lot of users had the same issue, I thought I'd share it here.
To cut a long story short:
I was wrong in saying that the original extension stopped as of Chrome 20+ due to missing support by Chrome.
However, for me v1.2.1 constantly throws content security policy exceptions in Chrome which prevent it from working at all. And as you can see from the comments on redphx's website it stopped working for others, too (whatever else the reason is..!?).
Also, as you can see from the schedule, v1.2.1 will stop working in the not-too-far-away future (unless redphx will release an update), whereas mine is "future-proof" (as far as it concerns Chrome).
Finally, my version does not include Analytics code, nor does it redirect you to a site which can not be verified to be safe (it should be, though).

No, the developer should be irrelevant.

Now, as I said earlier:
"I used v1.2.1 almost every day and I never had problems to download Apps, except for a few that were labeled as incompatible with my devices in the play store."
However, this was not true for all Apps that were labeled as incompatible. Some work, most do not. I'm not really sure how the checks work at this point. I know that there exist options for developers to restrict access to downloads by some "more advanced" parameters (apart from payment, obviously). And I think that the the device compatibility check for the In-App-Listings and the Play Store Website is separated from the logic that is used for those "advanced" restrictions (and no, I'm not talking about the basic country-limit here).
As another weird example take the new chameleon launcher beta. The Play Store says it would be compatible with my device. However, I can not download it. Neither through the Play Store, nor with the extension. Why not? Because, as you can read on the developer's website, your Emailaddress for Play Store must be paired with the Emailaddress that I/someone used in the developer's beta signup form that was on the website a few weeks ago. Means: eventhough it is a free App and labeled as compatible in Play Store, I can not download it because the developer needs to specifically allow my Account. As you can see, there're lots of possible and not always understandable reasons why somebody can download some apps while others can't.

I don't think that editing the build.prop file will help with that at all. Even if I change everything in my build.prop, the Useragent that is send by the Play Store App still uses/reveals the real device info. No matter what I change, it always sends: "AndroidDownloadManager/4.1.1 (Linux; U; Android 4.1.1; Nexus One Build/JRO03H)".
Hey bexton, thank u very much for your modded extension! I installed it because I get with the previous version the "ERROR: Cannot download this app!" message but with version I get the same message:
Chrome startup parameters: --ignore-certificate-errors --allow-running-insecure-content
Chrome Version: 21.0.1180.57
OS: Linux
thankz!! but not working here
Chrome version: 22.0.1219.0 (148586)
maybe disable ssl warnings don't work i don't know
Works for me. Is there a way to disable this page popping up everytime I download something?
maybe it'd be possible to use a data-uri instead of this thread as download page?

Hi, I have the same problem unfortunately on Windows 7 on Chrome 21
I still get the error "ERROR: Cannot download this app!". This is happening on Chrome 22.0.1229.2 dev-m, Win7 32bit.

Sorry for the late response, but I've been on holiday. For those of you who still get the error "ERROR: Cannot download this app!" for an app that should be downloadable(!!), please provide a link to the app. If you get this error for ALL apps, than please leave this info as well.
@XlAfbk: I don't think so, but I'd need to check on that.. If know how to, let me know.

That's just a few.
I'm thinking that Google corrected some of the coding in Chrome as it regards to the Play Store to prevent people from downloading apps that WILL work with your devices, but still declare them incompatible.
I also notice this problem. Didn't worked with any app that Google was saying to be incompatible with my device.

You can't know. But if you set up everything correct, you can be almost sure that you can download all apps that are labeled as compatible with your device in Play Store. Me personally, I never found an app that was labeled as compatible and I was not able to download it via the extension. Whenever it is labeled as compatible, I can download it.
@Felimenta97: There're a few exceptions; for a few apps I was able to download them even though the Play Store said it would be incompatible. However, as said above, a general rule of thumb is that you will be able to download only the apps that are labeled as compatible for your device.
I see. But if you could work on that it would be nice. Some apps work on my phone, just play store is crazy about that.

I tried modding the extension but for some reason it even fails with localhost instead of this thread, just replacing the 1 line containing the url *confused* (not a chrome extension guy so probably missing something there. more of a web dev)
Maybe if you'd explain why that is and why it needs some site in the first place I'd be able to figure it out.
i have a philips ppx3610 beamer with android.
i wanted to try and make use of a few paid/play store-exclusive apps, but it turns out to be quite difficult.
current status:
Philips ppx3610 pico projector
rooted, supersu installed manually.
android version 2.3.1(official firmware)
20110828 g-apps installed in system, play store listed as "market" and seems to function.
my exact problem is that there seems to be no interface for adding accounts on the beamer.
the .apk that's supposed to handle it is included with the original rom, but it doesn't seem to work at all.
settings is a stripped version with no account settings, and if a google app(gmail/market) tries to call the "add google account" screen it jumps straight back to the app drawer.
there are a few difficulties making it a bit risky/difficult to experiment.
no (touch)screen: everything needs to be done with a usb keyboard or ir remote.
no recovery at all(any brick is unbrickable)
incomplete settings
ancient android version
all reset/power options are handled by software, if it freezes it takes an hour to turn it off.
this device is capable of using the play store, but it was only included in review and internal testing models.
does anyone have an idea how i could safely "restore" accounts&sync, or perhaps have another way to get the play store working?

Did you try to update to latest FW? On Philips website you can normally download the latest version
With latest FW the missing components should be installed. Then follow the instructions provided by the video
[QUOTE=thedicemaster;55756968]that video doesn't help much.
I can get the play store installed, my ppx3610 just seems to be missing a component required for adding accounts.
without a Google account the play store refuses to do anything.[/QUOTE]
I already got it working a while ago, but forgot to mention it here.
perhaps I forgot to reboot after my previous attempts.
Google Play Store Latest Version
Well It seems that there is some problem in the version of Google Play Store you have installed it,You can solve this problem by downloading and installing new application of Google Play store,It is quite easy to install a new version of Google Play Store.Just Install and overwrite the already present files.
I'm looking for the firmware update to 2.24 version or newer for ppx3610. Is there someone who has that file?
How can i download and install app from Google Play Store ?
at this time i use Bliss-v11.4-Stable--OFFICIAL-20181223-2005_x86_64_k-kernel-4.19_m-18.3.1_pie-x86_f-dev-kernel.org for my laptop.
We clearly state in the Bliss OS thread that Google Play Store is not available and that Bliss OS only comes with FDroid & microG.
So how do we install gapps if we have paid apps we need to use? there appears to be no recovery to install it in the usual way.. (or for that matter how can I stop google play services repeatedly crashing on the earlier nougat and oreo releases of BlissOS?)
No gapps. No go.
Without gapps android is not much use to most people (much as we would all love to ditch google). I understand its not available in BlissOS, I guess the question is: are there any plans to incorporate the ability to add it easily, a more prominent and clear explanation on the XDA home page would be useful. I keep revisiting BlissOS to check if its been added I'd like to know if I should give up and just look elsewhere for an android emulator? This project looks great but without the ability to add play store , software many people will have already bought in the play store since the decade or so its been around can't be used. That's a serious deal breaker..

I'm with you guys until Bliss OS 14 on the the very latest release the Google Play store has worked at least help you guys don't even bundle browser what the hell is up with that I expect this kind of crap out of Circuit City on one of their phones that took to a chain but not that best Android operating system there is out for my system I mean you say after all but PlayStore was installed whenever I downloaded play some rest so I kind of expected it to at least log into my Google account I can't even log into my Google account I've been trying to get Bliss OS to work for ages I finally got a PC tool Boot It Up, all be it flawlessly, now all of a sudden it won't Run Google Play Store all of a sudden I had such a pain in the ass getting into work in the first place everything was all groovy until grub2win so bored my boot up somehow if I hadn't already had Bliss OS installed I would have had to manually try to figure out how to install it because there's no way to install the damn grub startup because when I try to run the installer for grub2win it says something about an autoit error and grub2win. EXE needs to be an object that happens when I try to install it uninstall it anyway that's not what we're talking about here I finally got to work ing setup by the grace of the Cyber gods a little bit of luck a little bit of ingenuity and some 1 0 10 duct tape why even advertise it is a the Google version if it's not going to have Google it'd be one thing if there was a simple way to just flip files onto it from Windows but there's not and even if there is I don't remember all those folders names right when I started Android for the first time on the new system especially when you put it into a blender with all the folders that you got to learn from gearlock either way what I'm saying is I agree and if you're not going to have at least the Google Play Store working it don't put a release out that supports the Google services just go all-out custom and then make an easy import export for the folders so you can sideload stuff easier and for god sakes put a browser in there so that you can at least download something if you don't have any other option. I spent two days trying to log my Google account in anywhere any account and email in the Play Store and I went and spent that much time had I known but every other version of bliss OS I had has been fine with Play Store so news to me if it's so public that you guys don't use Google Play Store you're doing a bad job of letting anybody know and sir I love your operating system so please don't take that too harshly. But I do second the notion that no PlayStore no Bliss it's a deal breaker at least without some other infrastructure in place.

The latest 14.3 that is supposed to have Google Play Store does not. it has Google Play services but you can't log into any accounts so it's pretty much useless other than getting the desktop to come up and it continuously crashes like the Play services not the Bliss
Now that I'm done replying to everybody else's comments I will say that I just installed the 14.3 Alpha it may be a beta now not sure forgive me. It does have Google Play services and it does boo'd up and there are significant changes to the boot script that goes into grub which in a way I really like except for the fact that some of the variables are hidden in two other scripts that I don't know where they are I found some of them cuz I've been digging through those damn folders so much for a year I just happen to know where they are but if you could please come in and some of the grab scripts like where some of the things are that are replaced by variables I noticed you did some like small scrubbing and then referred back to other variable names which I like because all the technical jargon is hidden and it makes it easier to understand but at the same time I had to custom write my grub script because my bootloader or something is screwy in order to reference the Bliss OS install I had to go in and change the Android 64 references from a previous install and I really had some issues trying to find some of the variables that are referenced in the new Bliss OS grub script I think maybe a key might be helpful like where does variable names are put into play like where I can go back and see what they are but if you don't want to do that you know maybe some kind of skeleton index would be very helpful in general though I love what you did with the grub Scripts if it's not you shout out to the guys at gearlock cuz it might have been they're installer that did it. The only reason I updated to 14.3 was because I had an issue when I install 14.2 my bootloader or whatever grub get out and I was on a grub recovery screen no matter what I did once I got Windows to boot I tried to boot Bliss which is where I got all cozy with your grub Scripts and noticed that things such as the start up flags were all underneath one variable Nifty if you can find out where to change them at. But anyways I figured since I messed up the Majestic install on the last update and no matter what I did it would not even reinstall it fix it or update it hey why not just go install the new update of bliss I proceeded to follow the links that I found it online one was an asteroid download and the other was a Play Store download oh how happy I was when it finally booted up then I couldn't figure out damn why won't it sign into my Google account followed by Play Services crashing repeatedly how do you fix it I don't know let's Google it no browser okay but sound like a browser oh put it into gear lock folder back to Windows where's the gear lock folder oh there's the gear lock folder it's been about 10 minutes what was I doing oh yeah oh yeah browser got to f****** find a goddamn APK you know one that's not riddled with viruses and malware okay maybe this will work back to Android in the gear lock folder so it's not there maybe they meant gear load back forth 20 minutes later nope that didn't work either oh after a while I dig and I figure out there's more than one gearload and more than one gearlock two copies of Firefox and an hour later still no browser you see what I'm getting at "FIX the PLAY STORE" it would have been easier to ADB it in I'm sure, the only reason I didn't do that is cuz wait a minute that extra layer of Wi-Fi network and I'm sure it would have have been a pain in the ass just as bad I mean I saw the little tutorial on what the ADB address was but you should just left a little picture of a bomb cuz we know that she would have b e e n a pain in the ass the hay known what I know now that's where I would have started and microG and asteroid that's a freaking joke for somebody that wants their system to work that one little Play services constantly crashing is nothing compared to the 50 that you're going to get with micro G & F Droid.
Google Play Services work perfectly fine on 14.3 if you go to Settings => Apps, locate the Google Play Services app, click it, then click the 3 vertical dot menu and restore Google Play Services to the original version. Then go to Google Play Store and disable auto-updates. I've been there too having Google Play Services constantly crashing every 30 seconds or so with no possibility to log in anywhere. After resetting to the original version this particular problem has been fixed. Play Store works, I can login into my Account.
The two browsers that work on 14.3 are Firefox and DuckDuckGo. Chrome and Opera crash on startup.

thats not working here 5 seconds after i boot for the first time its not updated and if it is really dragging its ass to log in i dont reall think its gonna let me change any settings and i dont think its gonna let me log in. granted i can revert it but that setting is the very first thing i do on any android because i cant stand it when i had a working device and then google does its bs and f**ks all my apps right off the bat so i dont think thats the issue it never had a chance to update. but in all fairness ill look again and if i find myself here again i will feedback. Thank you for your suggestion.

Well, I forgot one important step - before clicking the three dots and reverting the Google Play Services app to the initial state you have to stop/disable it altogether in the same dialog. You have the options to Disable and Force Stop it. Just disable. A lot of things like Google Play Store, Calendar whatever relies on Google Play Services will start crashing, disable these apps too. Revert the Google Play Services to the original state, enable Google Play Store back and stop auto-updates in Google Play Store.
I had exactly the same problem and this solution has worked perfectly fine for me. As a matter of fact I was able to login to Google Play Store and download many apps. Half of them didn't work but it least I got a Web Browser - Firefox and DuckDuckGo are the only one that functioned - and a book reader.
Thank you!
The problem that I am facing doing your solution is there isnt any 3 dot menu like on other apps
I can't believe they didn't fix Gapps yet? I did the trick of downgrading Google Play Services and it worked but My BlissOS got corrupted and I can't re enable Gapps! Tried reinstalling, downgrading. Even google browser does not work! Totally useless! V14.3 And how do you dl 15? I did correct terminal commands creating logblahhblahh.text on sdacard and no dl link!?! Come on Bliss team. Get it together!

someone still stuck on 14.3 ???
Hi I have this galaxy A32 5g here and I installed the F- Droid apk. Installed fine but when I go to download ANY content I get a error I haven't seen before (shown in picture). I go to change the install apps from unknown sources, and it's not there. Every other so I've tried, install apps from unknown sources is there. I have a galaxy S8 that I have no problem using F- Droid on. Anyone else? Any fix. (Can this bootloader really be unlocked) ..
Thanks!

Bootloader can be unlocked depending on your current firmware version to check go to
Settings , About Phone , Software Information and take a look at the build number.
The number in the last characters should be a 1 ,2 or a 3. If its higher then those numbers then there is no current unlock for it

My locked bootloader A326U is on build number 1AUxx. I disabled as much as possible (google & samsung apps & services) before adding a sim card or wifi for the first time. I did the ADB & Developer Options update blocking first so I can unlock the bootloader in the future if new roms are ever develop for it. Would love a GrapheneOS version for it. But it doesn't seem that is a possibility anytime soon.
I was really surprise how much stuff specially google services & the like I was able to Uninstall or Disable outright. Using F-Droid & Aurora Store I've been able to install & use 99% of current apps I was using before on my prior Z981. The only App that has not gotten past the nag about google services after installation has been the Little Ceasers app. Every other app that nags about google services still lets you continue using the app without it. I just silence the google services nag for each app so my notifications stop ringing over an over. I might make a walkthru of what I did later but it was nothing advanced. Just took the time to go thru each app & service & see which it would let me disable or uninstall.
Regarding the app you mentioned. I was just able to install that app from F-Droid it it runs perfectly. No errors. So not sure if the problem might be the wifi, cell or any security app you might have install that might be causing that problem. Installs & boots up perfectly here. I would recommend you redownload & reinstall F-Droid from their main site again.
Btw, I am on F-Droid v1.13.1 version.
I don't know the answer to your question but I do want to mention there are multiple F-Droid app clients that do the same things as does F-Droid, only they're designed to do it much better (using the same repositories as does the F-Droid app).
