Thanks for the answer, but well waiting for a answer i used Smart Switch and it downloaded a update 5.1 and it removed root and twrp which would suck if thats not what i wanted but it was so its all cool. i can now check for OTAs once again.

Your welcome. If you flash via Odin your device will remain stock too

[Q] How to keep ROM and recovery stock, but be rooted?

Hi,
I have a P3113.
I want to be able to receive the OTA updates from Samsung, but their OTA update process invokes a reboot into their stock recovery to complete the update. So, if I replace the stock recovery, the official OTA updates wont be able to complete.
But the only way I have seen to "root" a stock ROM was to first replace the stock recovery with CWM recovery, which is need to install a Zip file that does the actual root.
But, once I replace the stock recovery, I will no longer be able to do official OTA updates because they require a stock recovery.
So, what can I do to have a stock ROM and Recovery on my tab, but also be rooted?
If you have the mobile odin pro (paid) and managed to flash stock firmware (the updated one) that you downloaded from www.samfirmware.com (register first) then you will be able to retain root after flashing if you checked the everroot option in mobile odin pro
Or receive the latest firmware via kies then you could root it afterwards ( root the updated firmware)
Or flash the updated firmware from samfirmware via odin pc 1.85 and then root again as usual
As i know no flashable zip to flash to give you the stock recovery
I suggest update via pc odin and forgetting about update via kies
If anytime you want to use kies for update, you could flash first stock firmware via pc odin then update or flash the updated firmware directly then root

Thanks for the info - very helpful.
So am I correct in my understanding here, I can flash stock with mobile Odin, keep my root have stock recovery and then be able to get ota updates without a problem (or use kies to get the update, either way is fine by me).
If I am correct I love you all more and more everyday I come here
Just trying to confirm my understanding

So this is kind of a bump since I am trying to understand if I am correct here. I am still new to all this and want to learn things.
If I use Mobile Odin Pro to flash stock firmware with EverRoot on my P3113, then I can still receive normal updates either via OTA or Kies (which is preferred?). This will keep stock recovery, for the updates, and preserve my root so I can enjoy the benefits.
Does this plan run the risk of bricking on updating? Due to the fact that it is rooted, I thought you can NOT do a regular update (or was that just because of CWM being the recovery?).
What happens when Jelly Bean goes to roll out, will this brick the device since it is a whole new OS? Will this break root and I will need to re-root?
Just trying to understand everything before I make a decision on how I proceed with my device from here. I have never used Mobile Odin, and this is my first rooted device, so I apologize for my questions, but how else will I learn?
Thanks for your time, and your help, and as I said I love you all more and more each time I come around here, since I usually learn something new

You could get better help if you would have included your country and the firmware or build number that your current using.
With that said.... goto samfirmware and download the latest firmware for your device. Then use odin to flash the firmware, you should then have latest update and you can then root again.
There are other methodes but I think this is the least complicated.

my note details is added
I know your method and used it a lot via mobile odin, but I used to keep the
root from options, and iam not sure if the new firmware will wipe my note or not if I flash it via odin pc
I read that flashing the stock recovery will unroot it.
I read that flashing the stock recovery will unroot it.
Flashing stock rom removes root .
But latest updates are more likely on XDA or sammobile before Kies or OTA .

I see your updated info except for country that you live in. You may have the newest for your country.
Yes, flashing a new firmware with PC Odin will remove root,.
I have not done it in a while but from what I remember all data remains in tack, just don't do a factory reset.
I do believe that there is a way to install a factory firmware in mobile Odin and keep root but I have never done that method.

unrooting will open OTA update to update the device with 70-80 mb rather than downloading 1 gb

You could try to un-root with Galaxy Note 10.1 ToolKit, read about it here and then do your update

If your rooted than the update wont work. it will fail to install. you have to unroot and than take the ota. If not just wait for a custom rom based on the new update to show up
I know the OTA won't even download. Can you do it over Kies?

Im aware of how to do it if I had access to a PC, but I do not.
Will Kies successfully update/unroot? It sees the phone and wants to install NK4. I presume if NK4 were successful it would then attempt OA6?
For the record, Kies took stock NE5 root to NK4 and it was "official" so I got the OTA OA6. Did a nice clean install and kept all my settings so well I couldn't tell anything had happened until I got a notification and checked the software version.
Rooting without Windows is pretty hopeless for now.

Root isn't supported on the latest ota firmware, it's only supported on the version it was when you got it...
You can download a firmware from sammobile and flash it with odin, then root it

No, it does not. I had rooted OCF, and wanted to update to OE2. So I ODIN Stock OCF, without tripping KNOX (I just confirmed) and then updated to OE2, through OTA. I don't really think I need to be rooted at all so far. I'd like to see what's going to happen with Samsung Pay first.
I'd really really like to root and TWRP to flash the custom ROMS. The stock ROM is driving me nuts.
