UK Xoom: Highest OTA Android version? - Xoom Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi
I have a UK Wifi Xoom MZ604 and was wondering what the latest official Android version is? I am currently on 4.0.4 but seem to recall some UK Xoom users getting OTA updates to newer versions than that. My Xoom has not been modded, rooted etc in any way, but I've never received any further OTA update notification.
It was suggested somewhere that I reload the original stock firmware and go through the OTA process again to get the latest release, but after doing this I'm just back to 4.0.4 and seemingly going no further. I would like to get to 4.1.x as my wife watches alot of Demand 5/My5 which isn't supported on 4.0.4. I don't really want to go the root/custom ROM route as some of the apps that we use on the tablet don't run on rooted devices (All4, I'm looking at you).
So was there ever a UK OTA update beyond 4.0.4? Or am I stuck with it? Or any other suggestions?
Cheers!

Only for the MZ604 US version 4.1.x JB in OTS not yours.
It's stupid but like this.
If you flash your xoom with the stock HWI69 (android 3.0) your tab upgrade in OTA to 4.1

Thanks, I came to this conclusion and flashed HWI69 the other night. Pretty simple to do, now OTA'd up to 4.1

[Q]HK Xoom 3.0.1 ROM

A few weeks ago, I purchased a Xoom with Wi-Fi only in Hong Kong while I was visiting. However, I did not know it was a HK Xoom until I did a OTA update to 3.1 H.6.4-20.
I would like to flash a US 3.2 or above using this thread.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1166106
To my dismay, it states that only 3.0.1 HK Xoom has been tested and working.
It seems that Motorola has not released the stock 3.0.1 version so I have no way of flashing it to my Xoom.
My question is, is there anyway for me to get a 3.0.1 HK ROM in order to flash a US 3.2 or above? Also, can I try the guide I mentioned above without flashing back to a 3.0.1?
Thanks

You are looking to unlock your bootloader and root so you can flash a stock or custom rom with the HC three point two update, yes?
There is a new universal root method that works on any Xoom, any model, any country.
If you root with this method you could flash the Tiamat Hammerhead Rom which will provide you with the three point two update. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1209341

[Q] OTA Update on 2.3.6

OK I'm working on my friends phone because he saw there was an OTA update available. He is already on 2.3.6 so what is this update for? I'm having to unroot it to do iot but I'de like to know if its worth it.
there is not its after 2.3.6 lol, ur friend is misinformed. People still claiming there is an update are still on 2.3.5. The only available updates, which aren't ota, are the ics leaks, UCLA4 and UCLD2.
Huh weird because on his phone if you click on the software update it downloads something reboots starts and then fails. Is it just giving a false update notification of 2.3.6 even though he has it?
BTW how stable are the leaks? Also do they contain bootloaders?
false update. very stable since devs have had it for awhile. I recommend sky pics (either base) by seanscreamz or super lite by mhx.
Do these 4.0.3 builds have the android OS bug?
nope, 12 hours on time total, android is 5%, on superlite 5.1

[Q]

Hello, Im new at xda-developers and I have my new Motorola Xoom. I tried to update it but 3.2 said is the latest update. I have read news that Motorola Xoom can update to Ice cream sandwich.
Can anyone point me to right direction why my tablet doesn't want to update to ICS? Thank you.
You don't mention what version of Xoom you have or your country of origin....
As far as I know, European Xoom's are still on Honeycomb by default. Not sure about other parts of the work as I am from the UK.
Some different US Xooms have been officially updated, including the WiFi only model which I have.
I had a UK Xoom but following the procedures found on here to unlock the bootloader, and then install US Firmware which effectively converts the UK Xoom into the US GED Xoom (Google Experience Device). It then updated to ICS through a series of OTA updates.
Since then however, I have gone on to use the Team EOS 2.0.0 ROM.

Your best bet is to unlock, root and flash custom recovery and TeamEOS European Everest Rom--look in Development Section for more details and links. That will give you ICS 4.0.4 now and Jelly Bean 4.1 soon.

agree, but ics 4.0.4 OTA from motorola (for wifi+3g mz601) seem have not mdm6600 issue , best color , and a bit battery life than eos.
i had teameos nigtly until switch to jb preview few day ago ;-)
Thank you for the reply. Im using a xoom 32gb wifi only.
Im from asia and my xoom was from hongkong.
Should i use custom rom or wait for the official ics. Thank you.
Jelly bean is out. You may wait longgg to get ota. Use jelly bean custom rom from team eos. Lookup development forum for it. It is worth having.

[Q] Help on updating Xoom (Just bought now)

Hello. I just bought my motorla xoom. Its a pretty old tablet but i still prefer this than those galaxy tabs.
When i try to update, it says it has the latest version but then in the system it is still 3.2. How do you update this tablet? Is it not allowed yet?
Information on my tablet is:
Model Number:
MZ604
Android Version:
3.2
Firmware configuration version:
GAS_ASIA_HUBBLEWIFIHKTWNGEN_P007
Kernel version:
2.6.36.3-00042-g3c1a41e
[email protected] #1
Build Number
H.6.6-27
I hope someone can help me.. im just new at this..
I just bought mine too. It arrived today actually. It came with version 3.1, and, as soon as I went to software updates under Settings, it updated to version 4.0.4
I believe it depends on which country you are.
Unless you want to GEDify your Xoom (as I will do very very soon), then you will receive always the newest updates directly from Google.
BTW, I'm from Brazil.

It is rolled out to everyone in every country, bot NOT at the same time. One day you will get ICS and then JB...
Gedify comes from GED which stands for “Google Experience Device”. A “Google Experience Device” receives its updates directly from Google, without any customization or modification from the device manufacturer.
This is only possible if you flash the US version of Xoom's rom.
MZ604 here in Brazil, there in Philippines and in the US, is MZ604, so there's no problem doing that.
I'm doing it tomorrow!
BTW, if I helped you, hit the Thanks button!
It's done! And Jelly Bean is freaking amazing!

Hey man, i sent my xoom back since i had some problems with my macro shots.. they dont seem to focus well. and when i try it with flash, i only get white pictures. is that normal?
Can you also send me links on how to root-flash-GEDify xoom? if possible though without unlocking bootloader... thanks man...
Unfortunately I won't be able to help you with this... I rarely take photos... even with my Sony smartphone that has an awesome camera.
But I can take some photos to test and see if this is normal. Then I post here my views.
Rooting your xoom won't be possible without unlocking the bootloader. Unless you search for methods using exploits. But those methods didn't work for me but it might be worth a try. So unlocking the bootloader is the best way to root. It's save, pretty easy and you also have the ability to install a custom Rom later on to get jelly bean (I am currently running the cm10 nightlies)

Can you share your Firmware Version, Kernel Version and Build Number as well? After updating to 4.0.4, did your Xoom still have the "Quickoffice HD" app? What I have read from the forums is that GEDifying your Xoom would loose this app since the US-based Xoom does not have Quickoffice HD buddled with the device.

JB for european infinity

Hey I cant seem to find any information on the EU 4.1 update for the infinity.
Can I use the US jb version or do I have to wait for the EU getting released?
Im running stock, non rooted 4.0.3.
Dutch bought tablet, Jelly Bean is installing right now. It's available for the EU. Just hit check for updates under options --> about tablet.
The european JB is the WW version.
JB installed here in Amsterdam, NLD... very smooth, very nice...
Did something stupid myself, so no root at the moment... what for devs to find a trick to root
Hahaha.
This is weird.
I found out that I was running latest 4.0.3 update - TW, then I tried downloading the same update for WW, and it installed perfect, and now its downloading JB.
Is it because my tablet is unlocked or what?
