Does disabling KNOX related apps affect Samsung Pay?

As far as I understand.... Yes. I thought that was the main reason Sammy Pay doesn't work if rooted and Knox is triggered.
Though maybe simply disabling the Knox apps doesn't affect it.

I haven't gotten to test samsung pay yet

Just added a card to Samsung Pay. Looks like it works fine.

I haven't run my phone factory, did this first. Sorry.

I'm assuming you used Package Disabler Pro, correct? Can you upload your xml file?
Also, what functionality do you use/not use?

Thank you for the list.... Will look into it once my phone arrives....

I've actually noticed worse battery life after disablig apps. I've tried all different combinations but stock seems to be getting me the least drain, which is weird.

Disabling the bundled facebook app, and then installing facebook, causes facebook to eat battery. I haven't had any issues with battery drain aside from the android system that everyone else sees.

Which 1 is that annoying hotspot icon they always install on our phones, can I achieve this without root?

no it doesnt

I have the s6e+ and I use package disabler pro and I disable all knox services and I use samsung pay everyday. I am eagerly awaiting my delivery of my s7e on Friday.

I'm assuming that "power optimization" app has something to do with it. Any packages that may be related?
Thus far, I don't mind what is on my TMO S7E...doing great in terms of battery life and things are running fast.

Interestingly enough, I too experienced this. I got the S7E on Feb. 28th and first experienced an 18+ hour cycle with medium-heavy use. The following day, I disabled quite a few apps using the system's stock Applications Manager and then noticed my battery drained a bit faster that day. I enabled everything back to stock and now have better battery life.
However now, I used Marshmallow's notification management to disable a lot of notifications to apps I don't care to know about. Most services apps use are for notifications and that seemed to help a bit too.

What package disables hot spot usage monitoring?

So what can be causing the battery rain when disabling some of the apps?

My score in antutu improved after enabling disabled bloatware

I notice that enabling all thing and just disabling things with touchwiz a few of the app like lookout and tmobile apps. The feels faster and i get higher score in antuntu. Dont knoa about battery life but is better just to accept what we have. A phone that cant be rooted and very limited tweaking. Just download apps and games and enjoy it.

Also make sure you disable this package! It's a known tmobile monitoring app!

I use Package Disabler Pro and disabled the packages listed below. I am guessing it is one of the packages I have disabled which is causing this. Any idea which one of these might be doing it? As a clue, I believe the message is something I usually get in the morning when I wake up. It only happens maybe once a week or so.

Probably it's Samsung Apps and this one - com.samsung.android.coreapps. You could enable Samsung Apps, update all needed apps and disable it. Or just disable notifications for that apps.

Thanks for the reply - and idea. Going into Notifications, I noticed I have Samsung Pay and Samsung Pass - my only two Samsung apps. I will disable notifications from these two and see if it goes away.
Of course, the only way to know if this solves the problem is to wait a few weeks and notice that it has not come back.

Pixel 4a Debloat

Now that factory images have finally been posted, we got to work with what many people have pre-installed (qd4a.200805.003). Pretty clear of bloat compared to many of the other manufactures, but there are still some apps we really don't need, and some that we can definitely do without, especially those that nibble away simultaneously at your privacy, data allotment, and battery. We have tried to categorize each type, and comment a little regarding each entry.
Probably the easiest way to debloat on this phone today is to issue the "pm disable-user --user 0" command via ADB as explained here:
https://www.xda-developers.com/disable-system-app-bloatware-android/
Without further ado, here is what we came up with:

I was surprised to learn that my device came with all of these Verizon services preloaded (but disabled at least) even though I purchased the unlocked version. Its kind of disturbing to learn the amount of influence Verizon has on device manufacturers, I was happy to see it gone. Thanks for the helpful list!

Actually, has anyone tested using this command to uninstall the Phone application? i use Google Hangouts exclusively for phonecalls, meaning that every call I receive on my SIM number is either a missdial or spam, and since Android doesn't let you mute those notifications, it can be pretty annoying as you might expect. Some devices tolerate the uninstallation of the Phone app just fine, while others will crash and reboot from an incoming call with no application to handle it. I'm planning to go with a custom ROM once one is available, so I will test this personally soon to see how the 4a behaves

I have an unlocked phone and there is no Verizon apps. If you bought it from Verizon that's the problem.

I didn't buy it from Verizon, I bought the unlocked version from the Google Store. The apps don't appear on the phone itself, only when you push "Adb shell pm list package -d". Try it for yourself.
same here...mine is Fi directly from Google Fi store and it had all those Verizon apps even though Fi does not use Verizon!
I have an unlocked phone and the Verizon apps are on it, but disabled and not visible. They do show up in Titanium Backup, which is the only way I knew they were there.
I bought my phone unlocked from Google and it grabbed a bunch of AT&T bloatware. I use an AT&T sim so I figure it sends a pull request and grabs that garbage on first run. Easy to uninstall but pretty ****ty.

Definitely possible. The weird thing is that I use a T Mobile SIM. So no idea where my Verizon stuff came from unless Google flashes the same image to every phone and then "activates" the Verizon apps if you buy the Verizon version? I have no idea truthfully. If so, what a ****ty way to do it...
Turning off, or freezing Photos, breaks the camera preview of recent shots you've taken. I just tried it and got a black screen. It wouldn't access my third-party gallery app. When I unfroze Photos, the preview worked (again). I don't want Photos running nor do I want to use it, but it seems like that camera functionality is broken without it(?)
I thought the "# Tethering (Un)Entitlement " would be where the phone checks to see if you can tether or not. When I disabled it the tethering option was greyed out and couldn't even tether through my visible card. My plan is so old that they didn't say we could or could not use hotspot but with the 4a now it tells me I can't if I try to enable it.
I'm gonna give this a shot, thanks for posting!
With this method, do system updates or factory resets undo this debloating?
hey so i just noticed you're disabling these and not uninstalling. any particular reason why we wouldn't want to issue pm uninstall -k --user 0 <name of package> instead of pm disable-user --user 0 <name of package> also located a few more verizon apps to add to the list
Code:
sunfish:/ $ pm list packages | grep 'vzw'
package:com.vzw.apnlib
package:com.customermobile.preload.vzw
package:com.android.vzwomatrigger
sunfish:/ $ pm list packages | grep 'verizon'

i am not running the stock google nexus launcher but iirc, you just hold down that date/weather widget (while on the home screen obviuously) for a second or two and then either drag the widget to the top of the screen OR select remove if a menu appears. i run nova launcher and that widget can be added or removed similarly and it's referred to as google's "At A Glance" widget. i ran grep on "google" which produced a bigger list, also "glance", which produced nothing, and finally "widget". that output is below:
Code:
sunfish:/ $ pm list packages | grep "widget"
package:com.google.android.apps.genie.geniewidget
there's the "At A Glance" widget
I'm wondering if some of these actually are necessary. Settings has been acting strange and force closing a lot since disabling these. Haven't made any other sort of system changes.

Debloaters are netoriously aggressive w/o a demonstrated benefit for each item on the scratch list. Adverse side effects are common. My advise is to use the tools already built into Android to identify offenders and only act on those that are truly egregious. Share your experiences so others can learn.

I don't use the method in the OP to disable apps. I use Titanium Backup (requires root) because if something screwy happens, it's easier to find the culprit and reverse it.
I disabled everything in the OP except Tethering, 1st run, and Photos. So far, so good on A10 running Nova launcher. I haven't had a Settings crash.
A bad disabling can cause that, but so can a poorly matched launcher, or an older app that Hooks Settings that isn't updated for the latest Android version.
Are you rooted?
Also try clearing the cache/data in Google Play Services. I've found a corrupt Play Services update can crash Settings. In the past, I've had to revert to an older version manually and let it update again.

Damn you guys kick ass. I wasn't even really asking for help and certainly not expecting it but thank you!!! I was just gonna try to fix things on my own.
I was about to try the Android 11 beta anyways so I went ahead and updated to that which has helped SOME- Settings still will back out on its own or jump around but hasnt FC'd since. It is especially wonky on the battery page and will sometimes go back to home on its own.
So this is my first Android phone(going back to OG Droid) that I have NOT rooted. I normally would just freeze via TiBu myself too. I am also using Nova Launcher. I am using TMobile on the phone FWIW.
Here is the disabled packages list . I can do the others too but its quite long and didnt want to clog it up.
Code:
PS D:\Downloads\platform-tools_r30.0.3-windows\platform-tools> .\adb shell pm list packages -d
package:com.google.omadm.trigger
package:com.google.android.youtube
package:com.vzw.apnlib

Looks like in general a lot of apps are disabled by default? Cause there's plenty I don't see in the OP list but I have only done things on that list.
Can anyone who has not disabled anything post their disabled list please?
All I removed via adb was Carrier services , Chrome , Google voice and assistant and the Verizon tripe.

How To Guide Debloat FunTouch OS 11/13 - IQOO 7

I bought the IQOO 7 Indian variant and man it is so bloated and full of crap software.
Anyway I have uninstalled most of the VIVO crapware from my phone using ADB.
Update 31/03/2023 : - I have attached the ADB App Control preset for debloating Funtouch OS 13.
Please use ADB App Control and load it and get rid of the crap.
Also after the update some of the VIVO apps like iQOO Cloud, Jovi Assistant etc. cannot be removed by the usual ADB command and will give you DELETE_FAILED_USER_RESTRICTED error. To solve this issue go to this link - https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/...r_restricted-error-funtouch-os-12-13.4570979/

Please remove these apps at your own risk. I found them safe to remove in the IQOO 7 Indian variant and that doesn't mean same will happen for you. Don't blame me if you miss your exam or your phone blows up after removing these apps.
Also keep in mind that removing some of these apps will remove some options from the settings menu or some software functions of your phone.

Yes it did.
Changes I've experienced so far with disabling the app mentioned above:
1. Battery went down. Earlier it used to last me for like 12 hours use since I had to keep checking apps and keep them alive so I can receive notifications.
Now I just simply don't care. Even if I have played a heavy game like MCOC in the morning or even last night and simply went to home then the game stays in memory no matter what.
2. The phone heats up sometimes a bit more than earlier since nows while playing games its actually working more as it has to keep other apps alive as well.
3. The phone feels a lot more smoother. Since most apps are already in memory, the phone is a lot more snappier.

Yeah..deleting PEM really makes difference..phone is running smooth and No frequent closing of apps In the background..earlier Even my music and video apps used to get closed even while using thwm because of vivo's Very aggressive ram management..but now..it is Smooth and we can show off our 8 gb of ram.

After using this phone for almost a year frankly I regret making a choice of buying this phone. Gone are those days for me where I could afford to shag off time tweaking **** up on phone just to get some better performance. I don't have that kind of spare time anymore and this phone demand **** load of it.
I am seriously fed up of this phone, company and especially Android 12 and its own bugs. Even Google is least bothered to fix their mess and have started releasing buggy OS.

I have updated the fix for this issue in the OP
Does anyone know which app would be responsible for managing bluetooth audio latency(for aptx adaptive)?
I uninstalled a bunch of apps and everything seemed fine at first but later i realized my bluetooth audio latency was abysmally high in games (more than half a second, whereas before it automatically adjusted to less than 100ms when i launched a game). I probably should have noted down the ones i uninstalled.
I have reinstalled the tws app, audio effect app, jovi home, power guardian, gamewatch, ultra game mode, gamecenter, I manager, appstore, bbk account, cloud, global search but still no luck.
Doing a factory reset seems like the ultimate option. Any help would be nice.

How To Guide Debloat LISTS - S22 Ultra Series

Hey everyone, figure i start a thread on apps/etc that can be safely disabled, so that we can dial on on removing needless junk from our phones.
I am currently running a Snapdragon S22 Ultra, SM-S908U 512GB (AT&T variant) so my list may vary versus other Snapdragon variants.
LIST BELOW, this is for SnapDragon users. There are some AT&T apps other Snapdragon uses will not have, each carrier has their own bloatware added. I may have missed a few or have a few added you may not have.
If you own a Verizon, T-Mobile, or Unlocked S22 Ultra, please PM me with a list of your running processes and i will attempt to create a minimalist list for each Snapdragon variant.
This is a work in progress; your feedback helps, as does that of any others with more experience or knowledge to share!
Your battery life will differ from mine depending on your preferences.
I have battery saving on, 70% max CPU speed on, 720p, fixed 60hz, 85% max charge, and some other misc tweaks i would be happy to share. I will update this post with all settings maxxed out in a few days (by end of March)
Instructions
Use ADB AppControl for ease of use, and simply create a text file in your ADB AppControl/presets folder and copy these entries and save as txt.
Enable USB debugging on your S22 Ultra
Load up ADB AppControl, on PC, connect S22 Ultra and connect in 'Cable Charging' mode.
Follow instructions to correctly connect your S22 Ultra (easy walkthrough, only needs to be done once)
Once connected properly, hit 'Load Preset' and load the txt file you made
Click dropdown in bottom right and hit APPLY
This list DISABLES Chrome, Google Assistant, DeX, Edge screen, ALL AT&T crap, ALL gaming related crap, PenUP, S-health, Samsung Pay, Google Pay, and some other minor 'features'. All are easily restored and i will separate this list with descriptors in a few days.

Google's alternative for Apple's iMessage.
Why RCS?
With reliable global infrastructure and a consistent user experience, Google's RCS (Rich Communication Services) technology helps the mobile community deliver better messaging everywhere.

As far as I can tell, RCS is also on Samsung Messages, at least here in Europe (Slovakia). At least it seems to me that these "Chat features" are just that.

currentoy using adb to debloat, so far huge battery improvement but also on day 3 with it ao that coincides with battery usage learning as well.
Still refining the list of safe to disable stuff, about another 2 days testing. Managed to get very good battery life, but that involved disabling some stuff... ATT sent me a 4G sim so i havent tested battery drain with 5G, and im using bixby routines to do some stuff like auto-kill apps at night etc. 720P, 60Hz (i dont care about 120hz since i dont game), CPU on optimized, and battery saving on. Wifi OFF, BT and NFC OFF, no facebook or other social media besides reddit.
Impressive battery life in this config. Snapdragon 512GB via AT&T.

Do you get any actual notifications pushed? I noticed with battery saving mode, nothing got pushed.
yes, and to the always on display as well. Im using Nova so i have it configured through there, works fine. Should get about 50hrs with around 9-11 hrs SOT in this config, impressed so far, my Note7's got about 10hrs with 3hrs SOT towards the end, initially about 18hrs with 4hrs SOT and that was also with debloating done.

Guide will be updated later tonight.
Currently on day 6, 4 of which have been neutered, getting 50hrs avg charged to 85% max with 10hrs SOT. No wifi, all 4g.
Battery saving, 720p, 60hz, proc limited to 70%.
I will test with full res, adaptive hz, and 100% proc speed for the next two charge cycles and report back here, i expect approx 40hr battery life with 8hr SOT.
I dont game or need 120hz/wqhd+, so ill probably stick with whatever nets me the most battery life. Comfortably getting 2 daya of battery life is excellent coming from my Note7 that struggled to get 10hrs with 3hrs SOT after 5.5yrs.

Question Screen on time

Hi guys
Can you share here your SOT result and your tips to get higher SOT while using this phone
This is the best I got so far, usually get around 7-8 hrs of SoT.. no special settings, almost keeping everything default except RAM Plus, turned off.

Great result
Battery life and SoT on this phone is actually pretty pretty good.
Things I do:
- Use dark mode.
- Debloated using adb
- At nights I use a routine to set wifi and data off.
- Also at nights I set the performance profile to light.
And that's pretty much it. I'm. Really pleased with this phone performance and battery life.
Good job Samsung Software optimization and Snapdragon 8 gen 2.
