I was messing around with the massive amounts of option on the Galaxy S7. I noticed later on that an lighting icon appeared on my status bar but I have no idea what it means and its kinda driving me crazy lol.
Anyone have an idea what is it? Thanks!
Hey, to me it looks like a setting called Download Booster, it combines your Wi-Fi + Cellular data to increase your download speed.

That's the download booster. It's in Settings under More connection settings.

Hi,
Does anyone know if there is a way to get rid of the volume icon in the task bar?
A registry setting would be preferable to installing an app.
Cheers

Agree - annoying waste of space, In fact would be good if there was some kind of menu to select between all the icons you want to have displayed / hidden
I have the same question regarding...battery icon
I'm using WKTASK so battery indicator is shown as small line just above the taskmenu - it's perfect for me. I can exchange battery for clock via QuickMenu but have no idea how to get rid of them both.
Regards
B.

I second this. I think an app or anything else that works should contain options for all icons. I would think they would all be treated the same for flagging on and off.
anyone shed any light on this?
Hi all.
Just got a quickie...can anyone tell me what this notification icon is? Both it and the blank progress bar won't go with rebooting the phone.
It's a sensation with ICS and not rooted...
Cheers,
Smiffy.

Some sort of download. Open up the "downloads" application and see if you can clear anything from there, or try to clear data from that app...
Looks like incomplete download. Try to clear cache for internet if won't work then clear data as well.

Aargh - just realised you can't see the stupid notification icon that goes with it.
It's a bit like a signal strength indicator or a wifi icon - it has 3 bars increasing in size from left to right.
Sorry - it was covered up by the tray - next time it happens, I will grab a screenshot
If it anyone knows what it is though in the meantime, please let me know as I'm pretty sure it goes with the progress bar
Cheers, Smiffy.
Also suffering from exactly this problem.
Reboot a few times, with and without fast boot.
Wondering if there was any progress on this.
Thanks

I believe it's an upload to Facebook. Whatever you're uploading completes but the notification and progress bar don't disappear. I think I got rid of it by disabling all internet connections and reconnecting.

Hi,
A strange and unknown icon occasionally appears in my notification bar. It lasts few seconds and then disappears. No notification seems to be associated to the icon nor specific process at first sight. I usually notice it when I use YouTube, sometimes Maps, but its appearance is rather random; so I can't be more precise.
See the small gray dot at the top left corner of the joined screenshot.
Have you ever noticed this icon ? Do you known what it is ?
I'm interested to know more by curiosity than real inconvenience.
Thank you.

I've never seen that specific icon, but I have seen other icons that were weird. I ran an app that you can get from the playstore called AirPush Detector and it told me about a rogue app that was putting notifications in my status bar. Maybe try that out.
I often have that icon when I have a notification and I start an app. Its usually just showing you that there is a notification. It could just be that there is a notification for certain apps that pops up and then disappears

It still seems very strange to me.
Thank you for your answers.

I haven't activated Google Now yet. So I don't think it comes from it.
It's a mystery to me how moto could decide that putting Notifications on top of Quick Settings was a good idea but is there a way to fix that brain dead behavior and make it behave more like the Nexus 7 does with two pull downs (I am rooted and xposed is working, so creative solutions are ok, too)?
Just pull down the status bar with 2 fingers. Working fine here.

Ahh that's such a cool feature! I can't believe I've just found this out... It's been annoying me (well, only a little bit...it's not the biggest deal..) since I got the phone!

Thanks, definitely a step in the right direction
Further options, in Gravity Box -> Quick Settings (last two settings). The first one will make Quick Settings show automatically when there are no notifications, the second one will allow quick settings to be drawn down either on the left or on the right edge of the screen.
Those two basically resolve the issue for me.
Guys how do I hide the battery percent inside the notifications shed?. I can find a setting to turn off the percentage from the
Notifications, status bar and not inside the notifications shed?. It's driving my wife nuts ?, seeing the battery percent everytime she pulls down the notifications shed...
Why would you want to? No you can't. That's silly.

Yeah I have solid black across the top of my home page but use the pull down as a convenient way to see battery level when I want.
If there's an easy way to hide it I'm not aware of it...

Off-topic. Did you design the notification panel with good lock?

You can remove stutus bar icons, carrier branding and clock. Sweet... can't remove page indicator though.
Goodlock may allow it.
Thanks guys, it's really annoying. Surely there should be some option, to get rid of that battery percent icon! Good lock doesn't seem to have anything to help.

I'm somewhat mystified why you find it so annoying as it's normally out of sight. I use it a lot.
That said unless you root the phone I don't think there's any way to get rid of it.
Perhaps editing with ADB.
You can try poking around in notification settings, many pesky things can be killed like that.
A Google search might yield something on older platforms* you can use.
*don't limit your search to the only that OS/model as they share many of the same features across the years. For the 10+ I found answers to the most difficult questions looking solutions for the note 9 and even further back.
