Copy Whatsapp files from root but without rooting Galaxy S6 - Galaxy S6 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello,
i have a G920F (Vodafone Germany branded).
After i recieved the last 6.0.1 update a week ago i reseted my phone for a better performance.
So i backed up everything and did a hard reset from the recovery.
After restoring everything back Whatsapp had problems to recover any of the last 7 backups "tried Google drive and local".
While searching i found that i might be able to fix this by decrypting and then re-encrypting the database on pc.
For that i need to access these two files but i don't want to root my device:
"/data/data/com.whatsapp/databases/msgstore.db"
"/data/data/com.whatsapp/files/key"
I tried many ways (adb, xplore) and i always get "access denied"
Does anybody have another method to do it? or maybe knows another way to solve my Whatsapp problem?
Or could it be something in the software that prevents WA from restoring? WA support didn't respond eventhough i sent them an email a week ago.
Thanks in advance guys

Samsung i5800 first instructions

Hallo everyone!
I am new to this board and i have a few questions.
I recently bought a Samsung i5800 with android 2.1. Unfortunately i have problems with the pin requesting (i read in forum, that this is a known issue, my provider seems to use a modified firmware, that causes the problems).
So i want to update my mobile because people in forums say, that this is fixed by updating to samsung original 2.1 or 2.2
However I read, that I should make a backup, before I do so.
So please can you give me instructions how I should start(with links)?
And do I need to root my phone? to do upgrading or to install an official firmware?
And how do I unlock my mobile for all sim cards?(In my Country Austria it's absolutely legal to unlock the sim card).
And shall i first root it and then upgrade or upgrade and root it?
And how do i do a backup without rooting?(I want to have this current system as backup, for warranty issues).
If possible, i want to do an upgrade without rooting.
Thanks for the answeres.

thanks slumpolo
I read this, but i dont know where to start ...
shall i root it first?(do I need to?) or shall i upgrade it first?
and there is no instruction for backups...
ok
I began with downloadin odin a.s.o
now i just noticed, that the download mode (vol- + home+ power when you turn the mobile off) is not working...
I bought my mobile 2 weeks ago from telering.
Is there a way to enable this download mode?(maybe as root?)
ok
now i rootet it, however i have the problem, that i cannot back it up
i tried clockwork recovery... with rom manager
I go to recover system, then it reboots and then i come to the recovery menu but there is no option for recovery...
is there any other way to recover a samsung galaxy 3 i5800?

Not able to send more than 3 consecutive messages in a 1 single message

Hey I have SAMSUNG GALAXY NOTE EDGE SM-N915FY running android 6.0.1. So BEFORE ROOTING my mobile I was able to sent 8 consecutive messages in a 1 single message, after 8 messages it would convert into a multi-media message.
Then I tried to root my mobile.
- 1st with KINGOROOT, but no success as KINGOROOT does not work for every phone
- 2nd I tried the root method posted by one of the developers on XDA DEVELOPERS, but again no success as after flashing through odin when I tried to update SUPERSU binaries it would not update and the root checker would show me that my phone is not rooted.
- 3rd then I took my phone to a well known software guy in our area. He told me it would not be possible to root your phone on 6.0.1 bcoz there is no root available yet for your model on 6.0.1 software, although I would downgrade it to 5.1.1 and then maybe I can root your phone. So he downgraded it to 5.1.1 but still root didn’t worked so he even further downgraded it to 5.0.1 and then he was successfully able to root my phone.
After root, everything was working fine except that now instead of sending 8 consecutive messages in a 1 single message I was able to send only 3 as after 3 messages it would convert into multi-media message. So I thought maybe this is due to the root so I downloaded SM-915FY stock firmware from sammobile.com and that was around 1.7GB and flashed it through odin and my mobile became UNROOTED once again. But now even after unrooting I am still not able to send 8 consecutive messages as even now I can just send 3 messages, after that it converts into a multi-media message.
So please if anybody can suggest me the solution to it I would be really grateful. Thanks in advance
P.S. Please don’t suggest me other texting apps bcoz I have tried others but I like SAMSUNG stock messages app way more than other apps on playstore!

Cannot Recover Samsung on5 GT5501 - all resources exhausted

hello all.
long time viewer first time posting..
Ive searched, downloaded, and even called Samsung Tech Support to no avail. After a week now this is my final attempt before the phone goes on Ebay..
I have a Samsung Galaxy On5 (SM-GT550T01) through MetroPCS. Acquired last week when I decided to trade a sibling phones. I had actually rooted the phone for them and it was working fine. switched SIM card out etc, theirs works fine mine isn't. Turns out they did a factory reset with root and somehow managed to even wipe the OS leaving me with just Twrp Recovery.. Ive locked up my fair share so first thought was smart switch the SN i found on Twrps terminal was not the original sn anymore? Searched here saw someone post a sn -tried it - it seemed ok until 100% then states an error use code in emergency recovery but does not give me a code.. eventually says cannot recognize anything, Ive tried ODIN, ADB, countless recovery firmware - same result,,,called support was transferred to "the techs" who said they wouldn't be able to force a new OS onto the phone...I find that very hard to believe...sorry for the rant....just wanting to know now if i waste anymore time or buy a new phone....as for knowledge on all this I would say between beginner and intermediate...lots of google/XDA/YouTube and I am usually able to accomplish something..this had me beat as well as awake at 346am...any help appreciated! Again

What happened with your Samsung oN5 GT5501
Im currently trying to root my samsung GT5501. Now I notice their is a GT550. Different model. I think the GT550 is the ON5 Pro. 16Gb of internal storage, but the one I'm guessing were both inquiring about has an internal storage of 8GB, correct?? Now hopefully were talkg bout the same phone. Now was it the GT5501 the phone u had rooted? If so, did u do it without a PC?? If so can you direct me to instructions or vids. Can't find any specifically for the GT5501. All the tutorials are for the GT550 model..... sorry I wasn't any help to you, but I hope you got it all sorted out...

Restoring Photos to Samsung Galaxy 8+ SM-G955U

This Saturday, my son accidentally deleted over 20k photos on my phone. After murdering him, I rooted my phone using this method:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/ga...root-partcyborgrom-aqk3-samfail-odin-t3717702
This requires a factory reset at the end.
Since then I've been trying every program I can find on the pc (fonelab, dr. fone, mobisaver, remo (which won't even recognize my phone)) and on android (diskdigger and others) and can find nothing.
Any help out there or am I completely screwed?
Where were the pictures saved? Internal storage or SSD?
I think there is nothing you can do if the images were deleted by user interaction.
The Partcyborg root process basically involves flashing a pre-rooted image, and then the factory reset. I don't think you would meet with any success in trying to recover the deleted data
Here's a response from the creator of the rom

Although that device was an exynos variant, the same applies to the US/Canada variants

File recovery on LG G4 H815

Hello,
I have an LG G4 H815 with android 6.0 software version v20p-EUR-XX
I have sent this phone in for repair a long time ago and of course because of protocols they deleted my entire data. I've been wanting to recover some of the images that were on my device storage (screenshots are almost always saved on the device storage). I've tried numerous softwares such as dr fone in which it will tell me their root service has failed and that I need actual root acces to recover files.
A couple years ago I succesfully recovered files from my Samsung Galaxy ace, however this phone I already had rooted.
So I have a few questions now;
1. I have ended up using the device numerous months after, how much will this reduce my chance of even recovering the lost files from before the formatting?
2. To root the phone I need to unlock the bootloader, however this also deletes all files on my phone. Will rooting even give me my lost files back as by that time my phone will be formatted TWICE?
3. Does anyone know (prefferbly experience with the same phone as I do) a software that might be able to recover the files without full root acces?

Data recovery isn't very reliable on android.
Try the EaseUS data recovery software on Windows.
If the space where the data was stored has been deleted and then overwritten since the deletion, it's gone, if the space has been formatted, its gone.
