Hi
My router supports connecting a mobile to it to share its 4g data.
I'm going to set this up to test, but was wondering if there was a way to AC charge the phone while it's connected via USB to the router!
Any ideas ?
Thanks
Would an OTG USB y cable allow me to charge the phone while its connected to my router for data ?

Hello ,
I have been wondering if it would be possible to connect an external broadband usb dongle to Sensation Z710E over OTG, same way it can be done with tablets.
The reason I am interested in this is because i have unlimited broadband plan for 4G/LTE only, and since our phone doesn t support it i was hoping it could be accomplished by plugging a LTE USB Dongle .
Is this even remotely possible? I don t think it can be done but ... still worth a shot !
Hi guys!
I am just curious how much devices could the nexus 5 handle through OTG.
I am thinking of connecting a slimport device to put the screen to monitor, and connecting a mouse and a keyboard.
Is the nexus 5 capable for that? Using an active usb hub (get it's power source from a wall adapter not from the phone) will charge the phone? Is it even possible to connect multiple devices to the phone through an USB hub?
Hi
I have a rooted stock Nexus 5 that has a fast 4G connection.
I'm looking to a way to share this with some devices that only have ethernet connections. (use my 4G if my Fibre goes down)
I have a USB OTG Ethernet cable, when I plug this into my Nexus 5 it's recognised and when connected to my LAN I get a DHCP Address and can use the phone online via the USB OTG Ethernet connection over my Fibre.
I'm trying to find out if it would be possible to enable the 4G on the phone and then share this via the USB OTG Ethernet Cable to other devices on the network... effectively using my phone as a 4G router.
Does anyone know of a way to do this ?
Thanks
I don't know if you can share internet via USB Ethernet.
However assuming you have wireless router with your fiber, in case fiber goes down you can have your router join your nexus 5 hotspot network and act as an bridge instead of AP
Sent from my Nexus 5 using XDA Free mobile app
Thanks I hadn't thought of doing it that way
I'm not sure where to ask this question so I thought I'd start here.
I have a HooToo Tripmate Nano travel router installed in my car with a 128gb usb stick containing a/v content. It works great. Everyone can connect and watch/listen to whatever is on the usb stick. My problem is that the HooToo doesn't allow connections to my cell phone hotspot so we have to disconnect from the HooToo and connect to the hotspot whenever we want to surf the internet. I want the HooToo to be able to connect to the hotspot so everyone can surf the internet through the HooToo.
I have looked at the TP_Link 700 series of portable routers but haven't found one that I can connect a usb stick to that will do what the HooToo is doing as well as connect to the hotspot. If there is one, I wouldn't be worried about being able to power it since I could bypyss the ac and connect 5 or 12 volts straight to the pcb.
Does anyone have any ideas or help for me with this project?
Thank you.

i have a spare mobile which i want to leave at home 24/7 on the network using Ethernet while charging, instead of wifi
i bought:
type-c splitter adapter
type-c usb to ethernet,
my plan was for the phone to be on the network and always "plugged in" /charging
<see pictures>
but my plan failed, i can't use both at the same time, it only charges and the ethernet stops working
is it a software or hardware limitation or adapters problem?
i guess if i got a wireless charging capable phone it would work,
yes i can just use wifi but i wanted to see if i could use ethernet instead
i was also thinking of making my own cable
any ideas?
