Hi, I'm currently the owner of a OPO and satisfied with performance an everything, but it's just too big. Thus I'll need a new phone for not more than 500€ and with a screen about 5 inches.
So I wanted to ask you GS6 owner if you're still satisfied with your phone after six months. Could you answer these questions?
1. Do you still have the out of RAM problem?
2. How is your battery life?
3. Is your phone (with Touchwiz) still snappy or did it become slow?
4. Did you have problems with broken backs?
5. Does your phone run hot?
6. Would you still buy it now?
Thank you.
I was split between iphone 6 plus and note 5. But once I saw galaxy s6 my friend was using, I opted to go with galaxy s6 for a number of reasons:
1. RAM was a software issue, and after the recent update, I don't experience aggressive RAM management issue.
2. Battery life. Although not as large as Lg G4/note 5, it's enough, and usually lasts me a full day and a half of my normal use. Users complain of non-removeable battery, but I've never carried my extra battery on galaxy s4, so it was never a problem
3. Touchwiz is much less bogged down, and I really enjoy using it.
4. Build quality. No longer plastic, and I care for my phone, so I'm not worried about glass sandwich. Also, the back glass is relatively cheap and easy to replace, so I'm not concerned about it cracking/shattering.
5. The phone thankfully does NOT run hot. My ipad air 2 runs hotter than galaxy s6. I watch videos, and play intensive game (ie. vainglory/NFS), and haven't had issue with the temperature.
6. I would absolutely buy it. It's more compelling now, with the discounts, and deals.

1. Do you still have the out of RAM problem? I never really had an issue
2. How is your battery life? Not bad....not perfect, but it lasts all day
3. Is your phone (with Touchwiz) still snappy or did it become slow? I think so, but I use Nova Launcher for the customization
4. Did you have problems with broken backs? No
5. Does your phone run hot? No
6. Would you still buy it now? I might have to say no just because the S7 may be out sooner rather than later.
Yes I do.
I tried op2 and Z5 in last months, both good but S6 is still better (camera and general performance over all).
I'm waiting for meizu pro 5, maybe that will be as good as S6.
Thanks all for replying, I think I'll buy the S6 next month
If I needed a phone today, yes, no doubt. Otherwise I'd wait until the S7 comes out in Feb/March next year.

Yes, but I won't spend more than 500€ and the S7 will be most likely 650€ or even more because of the weak euro... So I couldn't buy it anyway...
1. Do you still have the out of RAM problem? No
2. How is your battery life? Not bad but not extraordinary
3. Is your phone (with Touchwiz) still snappy or did it become slow? Fast fast very fast and touchwiz is great now
4. Did you have problems with broken backs? no
5. Does your phone run hot? no
6. Would you still buy it now? yes
Thank you.
Thanks again, another question to the Edge users: Is there any advantage the Edge has other than the better design?

->I like this phone, but ANYbody says it have gone, is lying. Still there: 90% of time u have 15% or less ram free!, AND I flash always the latest FW from sammobile ! IT is And we only can hope 6.0 will fix it. I don't think so, just hope. Many people says this is exynos problem...we will see, or not, if I change from S6 only FOR THIS issue.
2. How is your battery life?

3. Is your phone (with Touchwiz) still snappy or did it become slow?
- > LAGGY is the better word.
4. Did you have problems with broken backs?
- > definetly NOT. one of the best thing is the BUILD quality.
5. Does your phone run hot?
-> I was holding a Xperia z3+. THAT was hot. THIS phone only gets HOT when running GFXBEnch 4.0. otherwise, 99% of time, the best 8 core SOC.
6. Would you still buy it now?
+7. CAMERA IS THE BEST U CAN BUY.
-> maybe. The problem is that nobody around me have Xperia z5. Only forums are to decide. BUt. S6 became CHEAP. compared to other flagships, Like z5, 6s, ...is anybody who makes similar to good?no. (lg g4 was good, but OLD).

Yes, I have this is obvious. But in overall this device worth to buy despite of this issue. (minor issue, and 6.0 is coming we hope )
But I have tried z3+, z5 and this photo, camera quality cannot be compared with s6.
One plus thing : quick charge. Samsung doing well, again, against other qualcom 2.0 Qucik charging devices. It push up the battery so fast, at least 20-30 minutes before z5 can do, for example.
I really would like to use z5 like sony device BUT the overheating issue, and the camera quality is terrible. STILL with todays's Sony z5 fw upgrade.
I always hated samsung device to hold. But i have to change my mind, competitors is even not just arround the corner. I am also waiting for Q820, BUT the thing that Qualcom have sent the 820 to samsung to help them is redicious.
s6 still the best in every aspects. there are issues, but cannot compared these to Q810 devices....
And S6's price are dropping to floor each day by day

I will add my experience to the one that said not so good things about the phone.
1. Do you still have the out of RAM problem?
This problem is still there. I think that whoever says it's gone, does not know how it shows up. It's not about how much RAM you have free or not, or how much it lags on daily use within an app, but how many apps it can hold open at the same time. This is clear when you open some apps and "exit" them using the home button instead of the back button. You can easily see that if you open a webpage in Chrome, open a couple other apps (always using the home button, not exiting with the back button) that when you go back to Chrome, the website reloads from scratch, meaning that the RAM manager has killed the app and has to fetch everything again. So no, the RAM problem is far from solved. Hope they fix it in future updates, but I wouldn't bet on it.
2. How is your battery life?
I feel this aspect is really flimsy and blame it a lot on Google and it's Play Services. It can't be that while rarely installing or changing apps or they way I use the phone, my battery life is so irregular. Some weeks it's good, some is downright bad, then back to normal, I don't know. I suspect that the only thing that can change and affect this without me noticing apart from the battery life, is the Google Play Services and their shadowy background updates. The first weeks with the phone I was seeing like around 4hs or more SoT, and now 3 months later, I see from 2 and a half to 3. Had the same wobbly behavior with my previous phone (OPO), sometimes great SoT, sometimes just bad.
3. Is your phone (with Touchwiz) still snappy or did it become slow?
I would say that it might have changed but not substantially. It's by no means slow or unacceptably laggy. It's clearly no Nexus, but if you already know what to expect, I'd say it's good. In a scale from 1 to 5, being 1 painfully slow and 5 Nexus like, I'd give it something between 3.5 and 4. It's ok but it could be better.
4. Did you have problems with broken backs?
Not at all. The phone is not that heavy LOL. Now seriously, if there's something that I, as a Samsung hater between the S3 and S5 era, can congratulate Samsung for, is the build quality and materials. Top notch all the way. Solid and precisely crafted.
5. Does your phone run hot?
I notice it gets hot sometimes on the top right frame (above the power button), but you notice it just if you go and touch that part, the whole phone does not seem to have a problem with temperature. Didn't try to push it to have one, though.
6. Would you still buy it now?
I've been looking for a replacement just because I miss stock Android and the Nexus brand, but I am really not convinced by any of the Nexus since the OG Nexus 6. The Nexus 6 is just gigantic, not for me (the OPO was big for me, that's why I ended up with the S6 and love the size, it's perfect. Although I'd prefer it to be thicker to even out the camera bump and make space for a bigger battery. I don't win anything by having a phone this thin compared to this thin + 1mm of the camera bump, I think that decision was just dumb). The Nexus 6p is way better but still big (it's bigger than the OPO) and there are way too many reports for me to jump on it yet. The Nexus 5x does not convince me because I feel Google made it worse on purpose so that people preferred the 6p over the 5x, not just for the price. I would have loved to have a 5x with the specs and benefits (for example, the extra cable or the higher framerate filming due to the extra power of the processor).
Would you still buy a S6/S6 Edge today?
With all that said, I think that today as they said before, with the prices dropping, it's a great option. Even more if you care a bit about the camera, which is awesome. If it only had a bit better battery life, I would not think about replacing it anytime soon, but that and having stock Android always makes me think about other devices. Maybe I'll root and put a custom ROM to it, a stock based one, but with better battery life and less bloat. OH, SPEAKING OF BLOAT: it comes bundled in with some Cheetah Mobile software that cannot be uninstalled or disabled. That drives me freaking nuts and I hate both Samsung and Cheetah Mobile for that. Like, bad. For reference: https://plus.google.com/u/0/+JuanManuelTastzian/posts/88sYktUP7oq

Not experienced any overheating so far, in fact just picked it up from my desk and it's cold to touch - which in my opinion is a nice feel.

Thank you for your post. I currently also have the OPO and it's too big and the battery sucks since 5.0. I get a bit over 2h of screen on time, but I read on most pages that the S6 would have way higher screen on time, so what do you think? Is it really that bad currently?

I have also read that, but I kinda get similar times as I did with the OPO. Take into account that apps you usually use and the signal quality of the places you use to visit have impact on battery life, so the best way to measure it is to find someone who has a similar usage to yours, which is hard. That's why I just tell you that the battery life between those devices is similar, or maybe a bit worse on the S6, but not significantly, so I think you'll have a similar experience. I also envy those I see with 4, 5, even 6 hours SoT with the S6 and I can only blame the apps and network coverage, because otherwise I don't understand why the difference is so big.
no, i wouldn't, because i would get the NOTE 5...it's the same device with bigger screen, better battery, and s pen....that's the only reason....and the ram is always between 70-80% so it's better than 5.0.2.....and i won't call the phone laggy...sometimes it stutters but it doesn't lag, most of the time everything opens really fast.....battery is about the same as 5.0.2...3-4 SOT....
Hi guys,
I'm thinking of getting a S6 instead of my Sony Z2 and therefore I've got some questions:
-How durable are the both front and back glasses?
-By previously owning a few Sammys I've learned, that they get easily clogged with trash and start lagging. Have any of you experienced this?
-Is battery life really that bad? I've heard rumours, that sometimes even a day is too much for it.
-Overall, how happy are you with your device? Would you buy it again, or choose, for example, G4, M9 or whatever?
1. Durable? If you have a good case for the bottom and a good screen protector for the front. My S6 has survived a 10ft drop onto marble floor.
2. Yes, it does start to lag a bit, if you have to many apps and all.
3. Battery life can vary for some people. For me, it can last around a day and a half with occasional mobile data use, but for my friends S6, his cannot last a full day even on ultra power saving mode.
4. I am happy with the phone But I would rather have the Z5 Premium, its just better in every aspect for me. The S6s software ruins it, but hopefully CM/AOSP will come for the phone.

- VERY durable. i have had all the xpera flagships until z3+, but all had scratches , but s6 don't, and there is none on the camera. From durability s6 is well built.
-By previously owning a few Sammys I've learned, that they get easily clogged with trash and start lagging. Have any of you experienced this?
- of course. the memory management issue is still there, BUT it was there on z3+ too, and can be handled, dont't forget Android 6.0 is coming ( tons of light themes can be also applied)
-Is battery life really that bad? I've heard rumours, that sometimes even a day is too much for it.
- I'm running Simcity build it, all the day. And therefore i have to charge 2x a DAY. NEVER used this phone generally only for phone/text/browsing. Maybe those can handle bat. drain. Only my z3 was better, but that was slower in 3d apps. But bear in mind, THE FASTES charging on the market is for Exynos 7420 devies , such as s6. It can catch up 20-40% of charing within minutes !!!!
-Overall, how happy are you with your device? Would you buy it again, or choose, for example, G4, M9 or whatever?
- deffinetly yes. There is q810 devices OR slower 808 devices on the market now. THEY ARE ALL WORST than S6 or other Exynos 7420 devices. I always bought Xperias, but 810 leads me not to buy. M9, Nexus 6p also suffering becouse of the wrong q810. I have tried the G4 several times, but slower in 3d related apps, it has slower specs from everything.
Hi All,
I'm coming at you with a different type of post, one where I'm looking for everyone's expertise in choosing a new phone to replace my S21+ Exynos 256gb.
I've had the phone since launch, and I was forced to get the Exynos version as it's the only one available in my market (no SD).
I've had a myriad of problems and frustrations with this particular phone, and a few to mention are the fact that Fast charge and Super Fast charge no longer work. The phone refuses to charge in these modes even though I haven't changed my charger setup (genuine super fast charger and cable). Moreover, when the phone reaches a certain low battery level you cannot charge it because there's a "moisture detected in your port" error. It happens very randomly and yes, I've checked for moisture and pocket lint/dust each time, the phone and charging port are in pristine condition (air relative humidity in my home is ~40-50%). This even happens if I turn off the phone and try to charge it.
One thing that allows me to charge it in this condition is either - Wireless charging, which makes the phone scalding hot in a few minutes and the charging of course stops, or using a very old external battery (low amps maybe?) with it's built-in type-c cable.
My second gripe is camera UI performance. From the moment you start the camera and the moment you can take pictures there's a window of time where it acts very choppy and unresponsive (the whole phone does), and the interface takes time to draw to the whole screen. Sometimes when you change modes or exit the app and open it again, the same happens. Still on the topic of the camera, when I start the "Pro mode" and start working on a shot, including focusing, setting isso/exposure, zooming in/out and just general work to frame the best shot, the phone gets so hot in the upper right corner that you're given the impression it's gonna burn soon . I think the camera setup uses way more processing power than the phone is able to deliver for extended periods of time. (keep in mind we're talking about 3-5 minutes, not hours).
Third and final gripe is software+hardware performance. I've switched to this phone from an S10+ and I wholeheartedly say that the S10+ combination of hardware and software delivered more day-to-day usage performance than the S21+. The interface was snappy, there was no lag and no applications were "hanging" or taking too much time to process changes or screen refreshes. My overall experience with the S21+ has been horrible in terms of usability, it somehow gives the impresion of an underpowered computer trying to run the most advanced software. I won't go into details on specific apps and scenarios, but I have been extensively multitasking on my old s10+ with both work and personal apps at the same time and I have not had this level of dissatisfaction with the phone's performance like with the S21+. It feels like I'm using a phone 2-3 generations older.
I know, I know, I'm whining, but I was very enthusiastic about getting a newer phone, after having a stellar experience with my old S10+, and this s21+ has delivered only problems and disappointments.
I'm a long time Samsung fan (may flagship phones over the years, Samsung TVs and appliances, you name it).
But I think time has come to say goodbye to the smartphone division of Samsung. Continuing to use Samsung phones would be at a detriment to me and I am trying to avoid that.
That being said - I am looking for an alternative, maybe it's time to try Snapdragon at this point in my life since Samsung only sold Exynos phones on my market and that's what I've been using along these years.
I've been looking at the Xiaomi Mi 11 Pro recently. Are there any other alternatives? I've been so far up with Samsung products that I don't even know who's their competition these days!
Thank you very much for reading my rant!

Firstly, your post is too long that I believe not everyone will bother to read your personal story telling, including my self.
Secondly, you need to be more specific when calling a phone model because one letter or number means a totally different phone AND specifications.
I also was a fan of Samsung up to the Galaxy S2 which I believe was the best phone they ever made, everything after that is pure overpriced marketing garbage.
I also owned other Samsung phones too and I am not impressed by their price compared to what they offer.
Another reason why I dislike (and won't buy anymore) Samsung products is because their CEO poked and derided Huawei when America (and its slave allies) banned Huawei out of the country citing security reasons.
Obviously Samsung is worried about sales in the US and it is ready to say anything its master orders to.
Regarding Xiaomi, this year it has became the world's second manufacturer for sales and that tells which phone manufacturer company is leading in the world.
I'm sorry that you wasted a lot of money on a Samsung crap (like I did), I advise you look into Xiaomi or Poco (same as Xiaomi) because they offer the best available technology at the best price compared to other manufacturers.
And when asking for suggestions you need to (very very briefly) tell what you're looking for in a phone.
By the way, I also have a Samsung washing machine, it works but it's pure garbage because when is spins fast it makes too much noise compared to my much older washing machine.
Hello @mobnoob and thanks for your extensive reply.
I've since gone with the Oneplus 9 pro and I feel it fills my needs fine until now.
As to appliances, I've started exploring other manufacturers and it seems there are some good options out there. It feels weirdly good to be free

The One Plus 9 Pro looks a nice phone and it offers a great value for what it costs but for my needs a phone must have at least a 5000mAh battery because I use Google Maps and GPS a lot.
I didn't update my previous preference, I got a Poco M3 global (EU) which is trash.
It's made in China by Xiaomi, notifications on a locked screen have a lot of problems so I need always to unlock the screen and check IF I got a message.
MIUI developed a always on screen APP which maybe fixes the problem, I updated the phone to the latest MIUI 12, I see people on Youtube showing the APP in the settings BUT I don't have it!
I found out that Xiaomi only offer this APP to the Chinese market, how stupid is that???
Also I'm not able to receive MMS messages anymore, weak wi-fi, overheating when charging etc. etc..
I tried to contact both Xiaomi and Poco in many ways, they never replayed!!!
Hey All, I’m looking at moving from a Fold 3 to an S22 Ultra. I purchased the Fold because of the ability to have a tablet in my pocket and used the hell out of it for media consumption and a little gaming. However, the battery in the Fold I can crush in under a day (not exactly surprising given it’s powering two screens, the outer screen is a major pain to type on, and the pictures I’ve taken on it have been underwhelming.

Where I could use some help is to get a read on experiences from folks who have had the S22 Ultra for several months. How is it going for you? Are there any issues you’ve run into? How is the phone’s durability - any issues with it being too susceptible to screen cracks? Finally, how is the battery treating you, particularly for U.S. folks with the Qualcomm chipset.
Any feedback is welcome. Thanks!
No Fold 4?
I would consider the above suggestion and wait if I was you.
Qualcomm chipset here, have been using it since April, Snapdragon variant with 12Gb of RAM & 256Gb of Storage.
Camera quality is phenomenal, IMO the best camera on a phone. Especially with the GCam port here in this sub-forum.
Battery life for me has been great, but I do not game with it at all. Rumours are the next chip is much more power efficient running on the 4nm process.
Overall experience has been disappointing. I did not expect basic applications like Reddit and Twitter to be stuttering mess. The scrolling is not perfectly smooth and while that's fine for most people, I personally find it very frustrating that a premium phone like this is unoptimized for extremely popular apps.
The curved display is something I thought I could get used to with time, but months later, and I still hate it with a passion. The discoloration on the sides is very apparent, and some unoptimized apps the writing goes in the curved area of the display and I personally find it horrible with zero real world benefits other than "looks good" in pictures and from a distance. But in practice is horrible.

First of all welcome to the forum! The battery on the Fold3 did not work out for me either so I switched to the S22u in mid April and have never looked back. I get 8+ hrs of SOT with the S22u (Snapdragon version) and are very happy with battery life (but I do not do any gaming). I would consider @Blackfyre suggestion and perhaps hold off *if* the exynos version is the offering in your county.
With the fold3 I was always concerned about the fragility of the big screen however I never encountered any issues with it. The S22u screen has been very durable and actually better to view. I love the near immediate response of the spen and as previously mentioned the camera is fantastic.
So overall I'm very happy and have absolutely no desire to move to the fold4. I have none of the studdering, heat, or battery issues and the recent updates have been excellent in cleaning up many of the issues the phone did have upon release. While its not perfect it's one of the best phones I've had.
The only other thing I would recommend if you do get the S22u is to avoid the 8/128Gig variant as it's a little thin on memory and storage if you want to exploit the great features of the phone (camera, dex, etc).

Agreed the camera is great. I don't use GCam though. Not really interested in it.

The phone isn't the problem. Twitter is the problem. It stutters on pretty much every device except maybe iPhone. I get the same stuttering on my Tab S7. Twitter doesn't give a crap about Android, it really only cares about iPhone and iPad. I would also bet that Reddit is the same.

I haven't had any issues with curved screens, but I have been using curved screen phones since the S8+.

Little Twitter comment here.
I never even 1 time expired a Twitter crash... Never. Not on my S22 Ultra and not on my Tab7+

Okay, but who said crash though? We said it's a laggy mess. It stutters when scrolling. There is no crashing. It's just badly optimized, both on Android/Samsung side and on the app developers too. Either way there needs to be better collaboration between Samsung/Google and the top apps to get them optimized or tuned for better performance.

It is not Samsung's nor Google's fault that Twitter is not optimized for Android/Samsung devices. That is Twitter's fault. I expect Samsung apps to work well on Samsung devices and Google's apps to work well on Android in general; and they both do.
If more people complain to Twitter and Reddit about the user experience for their apps on Android/Samsung devices, then they may improve them. Complaining to Google or Samsung will get you nowhere since neither of them have very little (if any) control over Twitter's and Reddit's apps.
Thinking about getting a Mix Fold 2, but having watched reviews, there’s a couple things which make me unsure if I should get it.
Seems like there haven’t been any real changes to the UI since release (hopefully there’ll be some improvements with MIUI 14 official release?), but have there been any patches / improvements to thermal throttling / overheating, and any camera optimization?
Really loving the design, form factor etc. of the Mix Fold 2, but feel like it lacks behind on UI functions, and the general optimization. Or atleast it did in the reviews I’ve seen, but most of them are now 4-5 months old.
Thoughts?
Hello, I have the phone since a few weeks. Started with MIUI13 and have received the update to MIUI14 1 week ago and to be honest, it was a very bad experience. There was really not a since noticable improvement from my opinion. I even worse, there are a few downsides which came along with the update.
I am now disappointed? No. If you really like foldable phones then this one is clearly the best.
The UI is so far okay and you can get around a few things by implementing here and there a workaround
UI is the same as it was at launch and I dont see them changing it any time soon.
I havent had any issues with overheating or throttling to a noticeable point. Its not very hot where I live though...
Camera app has had a few updates iirc so there should be some general improvements but I havent taken comparison images or anything.
As for it lacking behind in features I havent noticed myself missing anything I would want to do. The chinese skin does have a few quirks I dont like though so im just waiting on kernel sources so I can port lineage or something else.
The phone is optimised very well imo. I can easily get 8-9 hours SOT even with all of my changes to run apps in the background and everything runs super smoothly

Hardware wise hands down my favorite foldable. More concerned about software. Seen in a couple reviews that it can get hot enough gaming, for even short amounts of time, to where the app crashes / force quits. Feel like it’s lacking abit camera wise too. Feel like that sensor can do better, just that the software needs optimization, but as Thatsjustlogic says there have been updates, so hopefully it has gotten better since those reviews.
Also feel like pretty much all foldables other than Samsung don’t utilize the foldable functionality that well (lack of horizontal split for example).
Chinese rom worries / worried me too.
Don’t want to spend 1500$ to then have a phone that feels «unfinished» I guess?
Having read through the forums now tho seems like many of my worries can be solved with some modules.
The phone is "finished"
Here and there are "missing" features. For instance I had for years Samsung and Folds as well.
In the Samsung camera app, when you take a selfie, you can raise your hand as a gesture and this will create a screenshot. This is just not there on the Xiaomi phone app.
In general all words pretty stable but yes you will "find" here and there some annoying things but this really depends on your personal behavior. Everybody who have this phone have a small list of this which are not working as expected. And I would say nobody of us a just average phone users, we are power users and we have high expectations. BUT, what is the alternative? Samsung fold 4? For my opinion, this small form factor of the phone is a big boomer. This outer display always fell to narrow and it just does not feel good. So I have unfolded the Samsung for every tiny action I did and this was annoying too.
