Hello everyone. I just recently got a note edge, it's the verizon version but I have it on straight talk, the software that I'm running right now is 5.0.1, I want to update to the 5.1.1 version but when I try and do the update from settings everytime it tells me that software update is temporarly unavailable, any idea on how to fix that or if I can update via computer?
if i am not mistaken, just download the latest firmware for your phone on your computer
use ODIN to flash the new firmware

Why would you want to update when 5.1.1 has proven to be such a major headache?

I've acquired a note 10.1 (GT-N8010) on 4.1.2 and when I try to do software update is says "your device has been modified"
I'm guessing that it's been rooted but it's not rooted now. Can i get this to update at all?
TIA

If you are trying to do the update via OTA, this might be your problem. Hook it up to your pc and use Kies and it should update it up to lollipop 5.1.1 for you. If this doesn't work, you might do a search on here on how to download the firmware and use an app called Odin to manually update it.
so i got a notification today saying that my phone can update to the android 6.0,but unfortunately i don't have wi-fi to download it directly to my phone.
So tried using smart switch but it doesn´t show any update only backup, restore and outlook snyc,is there anyway of forcing it to look for the update?
And if not possible, any link for the official 6.0 for the SM-920F version so i can flash it with ODIN?
you can get it on sam mobile
I bought a refurbished Galaxy Note 5 and have used it on TotalWireless for a few days before I noticed the Note 5 should be on BPF4. When I received the phone it was already on BPD4, my wife's phone upgraded from a 5.1.1 firmware and went through the full chain to BPF4 previously. Will an ODIN flash back to a 5.1.1 firmware allow my phone to pass where it is stuck currently?
Thanks

Why don't you just download BPF4 and flash via odin? I'd make sure you didn't receive a fake phone before you flash anything as long as the phones real you can just flash it yourself in odin and setup the network to use the right settings from Totalwireless. The only reason I mentioned a fake phone is because someone else wanted to do the same thing and ended up with a phone that he couldn't find the firmware for because it was fake and after trying to flash Verizon firmware which failed he had no way to go back!
It's definitely a genuine Note 5. I was trying to locate the PF4 firmware to flash via ODIN, but the only ones I could find were several 5.1.1 firmwares and the PD4 firmware I was already on, do you have a link to a full PF4 firmware? Must have had research failure or something, haha. I finally decided to try the Verizon Upgrade Assistant and it was able to update me to the latest PF4 firmware no problem.
Download Samsung Smart Switch for PC.
You won't get OTA updates unless you have an active Verizon sim card.
Using Smart Switch to update is much easier than Odin.
I'll try Smartswitch when the next OTA comes out. I was actually surprised how well the Verizon software worked to fix the issue. In the past I always ignored the software install portion of USB connection. Guess it serves a purpose now.
Hi, my phone (G930L, Korean Exynos version), is rooted, and currently running a beta version of Nougat. I received a message both on my phone and also Samsung Switch program on my PC, that there was an update available. However, I'm unable to update both from the phone and Samsung Switch, due to being rooted.
Is there anyway I can update to the latest beta without having to flash factory stock firmware?
Thanks!
Sorry but i think you need samsung ofw for that.It won't work if you installed a rom based on touchwiz.
A while back i had tried installing the android pie update for my samsung s8+ in canada and of course it did not work. As always samsung takes 100000 years to put out an update and its still not here. Anyways i havent received any updates since and my software version is probably not right. I was wondering if it will automatically update when android pie comes out or if it wont update at all. Also the device security isnt working so thats a bad thing thats why i want to try and revert it. Thanks, sorry for the unclarity if any.

And the software for which version did you flash exactly? I assume you have a G955W variant? If so then it should be as easy as downloading the latest firmware from fw.updato.com or search Google for Samfirm and use it to download the latest firmware for your phone. Flash via Odin and it should be back to normal.
