Phone Showing wrong Information On Battery capacity (3000mah as 2000mah) - General Questions and Answers

My device is Micromax Canvas 2 Colors (A120)....The original battery capacity was 2000mah.....Recently i replaced my swollen 2000mah battery with a 3000mah battery.....The battery is for the device Micromax A116 (Screenshot is attached).....The battery fits perfectly and has the same rating as of the original.......When i started using my phone the standby hours or talk time hours are not increased (i think the percentage drop is faster than the stock, now the percentage drop is 1% per 2or 3 min).....Then i checked my battery capacity using an app called phone tester ( screen shot is attached)...I have tried calibrating the battery but it didn't helped....Tried this in stock ROM and other custom Roms...... Please help me fix this....

Well, you are presuming that aftermarket battery, which is neither more massive nor bigger than the original, is actually a 3000mAh unit? Huh!
eBay is also full of 6000mAh labeled cheap “Ultrafake” 18650 li-ions, when actual brand name top-notch stuff barely does 3500mAh under best conditions…
It really does not matter what the battery ID chip is telling the system, or what the system believes about the battery capacity, as that is just a number stored on a register/memory cell block somewhere.
Use the device normally to see if you are getting the supposed extra battery life or not (mmm not wanting to dishearten you but, to me, that sounds like a knock-off). :silly:
Cheers

ebay.com!
You still can have an original battery. Just go to ebay.com and search for "st26 battery" in "Cell Phones & PDAs". You'll find several options from $3 to $12 + shipping. I bought a couple this way and am happy now. Just look for original Celxpert or Sanyo brand (ST26B or ST26C). Don't buy cheap fakes labeled Samsung (ST26A). They cost the same but have less capacity.
In addition you can buy an external charger - it's very comfortable if you have more than one battery. And there are also high capacity batteries about twice of the original. They come with a spare cover because they won't fit in the phone with the old one. I can't say anything about this one.
Good luck and long live Tornado!
Those battery seems too cheap, do you trust them?
[QUOTE Don't buy cheap fakes labeled 2Samsung (ST6A). They cost the same but have less capacity.[/QUOTE]
thanks but before buy it (Samsung (ST6A)) and capacity is very low abut (12 hr) what solution for increase capacity Samsung ?(ST6A) . i buy it about 15$
karhoe,
I have one battery of all three types I've described. Well, the Celxpert was new and the best of all - absolutely the same as original. Sanyo was of the same manufacturing quality and capacity, although looked a bit used. 'Samsung' was made of poor quality materials, was not exactly rectangular and it is definitely not Samsung at all, just a fake.
The first two last almost 24 hours (I listen MP3s for 1 hour a day, make 5-8 calls, sometimes use Opera Mini). And the 'Samsung' one now doesn't even last 12 hours.
BTW, I use one of the latest WM6.1 Standard ROMs, they are all pretty 'hungry' for energy. When I tried WM6.1 Pro and WM6.5 they seemed to work noticeably longer.
smoma,
I don't think there's a way of considerable increase in capacity since it is a hardware problem. You can just use it until it dies, just have a spare one with you.

i really need this instruction
help me please
Bro, I am back and have read your PM
My battery is completely debranded (means that "A mobile techie did the job for me. As far as I know he shown me sanyo battery case (perfect for tornado) then he ripped off a nokia's battery cells and made a custom battery for me). My problem of battery charging is solved since I am using 1A charger from now on
NeHow, What u really need is "mAH rating of battery", Battery voltage that is required (i think its minimum 4volts and as per required (I dunno what is the ower rating of official battery and i am too lazy to google for it lol)
As my celetask shows:
Tick Count: 23:39
Main Battery 91% (charged it about 17 hours before, and I have used about an hour of wifi on that)
Voltage: 3942mV ~ 4Volts
Curent: 122mA
A battery rating of more than 1000mAH is fair for gud battery backup. As a consequence the charging time is taken as far more. Since a higher mAH battery requires a Higher mAH adapter too
i-e 1000mAH battery requires 1A current for an hour to fully charge orr vice versa
I really catn help in ripping the battery since there is some battery cells ripping is involved which that mobile techie is afraid to leak out. I asked him again after reading ur PM
P.S you can check the market out for custom made batteries on above criteria
I AM NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY KIND OF DEMAGE TO YOUR PHON REGARDING THE RIPPING OF UR BATTERY

[REVIEW] 1600mah batteries and charger

This is a quick little review of some 1600mah extended batteries for the desire HD. thees batteries where bought off of ebay from 2 different sellers, but both seem to be the same quaility and same manufacturer.
first of all, you can get these here
2x 1600mah extended battery with charger - LINK
1x 1600mah extended battery - LINK
So now for a bit of a review...
2x batteries and charger. - both batteries arrived relatively quickly, in a padded envolope. with there free shipping it was a little bit less than a week. came it great condition.
1x battery - paid $5 extra for expedited shipping, arrived in 2 days. works perfectly
Battery performance - all of the batteries have around the same performance. the ones with the charger have slightly less battery life but it is still better than the stock 1230mah. i can now easily go a full day of browsing the web and playing games without recharging. although, i dont like my batteries getting too low, cuz i know if they fully discharge it can be bad for them so at 20% i swap the one ive been using for one that ive charged overnight. the way i have it set up, i always will hae a battery fully charged. i have one in the phone and one in the charger overnight. wake up take both and put the other extended in the charger while i am gone. come back and before i go to sleep i swap again. they all get used equally then.
One problem that i have seen though, is that sometimes when i reboot or swap them out, when the phone starts up, it says there is 0% battery left. it is usually fixable by a quick wipe of the battery stats in recovery. has only happened to me in aosp roms though, sense runs fine.
overall, id give them a 4/5 rating because of the low cost and quality, but also because of that glitch(although it could just be software related)
pics up soon to show exact battery life and the batteries themselves
Okey n1 review. Perhaps i will get one of those batteries hate to charge all the time

I would love to see some stats/screenshots of Battery Monitor Widget just so that we can see what you mean by saying that you are browsing and playing games all day.
When i'm using my phone with the screen on all the time then i've got a drain of 1% per 5 minutes. That gives me a bit more than 8 hours before the phone is dead.
On the other hand the maximum standby time is a bit more than 100 hours (1% per 60 minutes) or more than 4 days.
That said you could have really great battery life if you've got more than 2.5 hours of screen on time in one day or it's terrible because the screen on time is way below 2.5 hours.
That's allways based on the assumption that your battery is depleted after 24 hours. "a full day" could also be a work day meaning unplugged at 6 am and recharching at 6 pm.
/edit:
about that 0% glitch: I'm using an Evo3D Anker 1900mAh battery in my DHD and got the same problem. I also think that it's related to me using an aosp rom.
I actually have this one!!! ordered from dealextreme.com!
its working fine 1230 mah real size! there is no bigger batteris than 1300 mah!

There IS a battery that is more than 1300mAh, the Mugen 1500mAh. Search for it on this forum
There is also the Mugen skin that clips on and holds another 2000?mAh, but that is not entirely practical...

That's why you should stuff an Evo3D/Sensation battery in there
Those have 1500mAh or more (and really do!)

These batteries do hold more juice than the stock. I don't know why people are complaining about them. For $9 you get 2 batteries and a charger. Even if they where only the stock size, you can still swap them.

Problem is, these claims have no substance without numbers. Do you have any test results proving the battery life is greater over stock?

great....clicked the "thanks" button instead of the "quote" button....
anyway:
it doesn't matter if your phone isn't on for some time....just let Battery Monitor Widget run from 100% to 0% and then show us screenshots of the stats it gathered.
Thoughts about how well your batteries performed aren't needed. I bet you i could give you the exact same thoughts you have about your batteries only that the time from 100% to 0% differs by as much as a day....

Here are the stats as of now, I have been texting, listening to music, surfing the web, and surfing through xda all day.
If I would be using the stock battery, it would have been dead already.

Battery Monitor Widget:
It's in german so this is what it says in english:
(in the info bar at the top you can see that i had still got 31% charge)
- has been unplugged for 1 day and 2 hours
- has been used for 5h20m or 20%
- screen was on for 2h31m or 9%
- wifi was on for 2h03m or 7%
- bluetooth was on for 1h32m or 5%
It doesn't say anything about how much the gpu was used (for example there is no reliable way of telling how much the usage of opengl drains your battery...at least as far as i know).
But it still gives you better info about how i used my phone and how much you'd get if you were using the same battery.

Whatever app you're using is only reading the firmware of your phone and comparing it to a database, and not reading the actual battery capacity. The Droid RAZR (not MAXX) has a 1780mAh battery. There is both a RAZR and RAZR MAXX with the XT912 model number. Your phone doesn't actually "know" how much battery life you have left. It knows the voltage and amperage draws and makes an estimate based on typical data for that battery's chemistry (lithium ion, lithium polymer, whatever). Any app or built-in feature that tells you how much life you have left or how much time to reach full charge just uses algorithms based on that data. That's why you often drop a bunch of percent for no reason, especially if the phone is well used - it's just a guess.
