generally it scrolls very smooth, it has about same smoothness in facebook compare to my iphone, and better than nexus 5 which is a old phone. The only app it drop frames is google maps, which same as GS6. but stock android phone and iphone have smoother interface within google maps. The ram management seems better than last year. with no game opend if can hold 15 apps, with two game opend it can hold 9-10 apps which is enough for me. My iphone 6sp old 14 apps but it will never give me the multi-windows functions I missed a lot.
I also tested the sound quality using my sony XBA-A3 headphone. The sound quality is almost identical to iphone 6s plus I am using now but give us more options on EQ setting, but the sound volume is about 20 lower than the iphone 6sp. But no big deal since I just need to turn up the volume a little bit more.

The sound volume on the S7 is very very low... compare to S6... and worse of all PowerAmp's DVC doesn't work ... (it lowers the volume even more).... i wonder if they changed the digital amp for the S7....

Yeah I saw the video but I don't mind the extra half sec loading time . But the gs7 allow me open two app at sometime so I can watching video and reply text without leaving the YouTube when I am working out. How much time that save for me actually counts.

I preordered the Edge so it's not a problem for me. I hope Exynos is better than 820.

Z3 vs Galaxy Note 4 from those who own both

This may sound stupid, and I know that there was a huge discussion about just this prior to shipping. However, I wanted to revisit this subject now that both phones are available.
I have owned both since Thursday, and prior to my Z3, I owned a Z2 and an iPhone 6 plus for a trial period.
I love the size of the screen on the note, but there are small things that my z3 does that have me longing for it over the note.
Of course at the top of the list is battery life. However, in the launcher skin, there are other factors.
I hate the stock messaging app on the Note, which has forced me to use Hangouts as a replacement (this was also partly due to looking for an all in one messaging solution like imessage).
Touchwiz also lags in scrolling sometimes and has a horrible solution for creating folders.
The Z3 has been solid, although the low headphone audio should be corrected. The screen is fine for me inside, but I struggle with it outdoors due to my transition lenses fighting with their antiglare solution.
Otherwise, I am torn between the two. Fast charging on the Note is phenomenal, but I love the feel in hand of my Z3.
Anyone else have an opinion?
Ive gotten my Z3 today from sony as a gift, and i wont give it away. Had the note 3 b4, not the Note 4, but the Z3 feels much better in types of design and materials.
UI is working very fast, Cam is much better than in Note 3. I wont miss the stylus, havent used it that much.
- Battery life:
+ Normal usage: Z3 better
+ Gaming or really heavy usage: equal or maybe Note 4 a bit better. Z3 really hot when gaming so battery drain really fast. Note 4 is much cooler.
- Launcher + skin: Z3 lighter, smoother bit simpler. Richer functions on Note 4.
- Mainly outdoor usage: should go Z3.
- Charging: Note 4 faster ( 2 h ), Z3 about 2h 45m.
- Audio: Note 4 better esp Exynos version.
External speaker: Note 4 louder but too shrill and distortion. Z3 speaker better with me.
- Touch screen: Note 4 a bit better esp in high sensivity mode.
- Root, Rom: Note 4 better. I'm pretty sure there will be much more custom Rom and Mods for it. Z3 already sale a mount of time but only can root if unlock bootloader -very annoying for me.
- Note 4 faster but Z3 abit smoother due to sometime lagging TW.
- Note 4 camera generally better but Z3 better under extreme low light condition.
About 80% I will stay with Z3 because:
- Looking + feeling
- Water resistant
- I want higher brightness, outdoor visible.
- Good battery life.
- One hand operation
- Much cheaper: 646$ vs 837$ of Note 4
For me Note 4 has
1) faster charging an i am not uncluding the fast charge mode either, it also has better battery not by alot maybe by 1 and half hours but considering it is pushing a 2K screen.
2) the note 4 is louder in calls (also better call quality and reception), loud speaker (Z3 sounds better though) and in headphones (better audio quality too).
3) Note 4 also has caller readout and also blocking mode and more call settings like better call equalizer and additional loudness volume and other neat little features like when you press the volume button from the home screen your able to turn up ringtone, media, notification and system sounds independently of each other where as on the z3 you have to go into settings, quick toggle notifications are also a bit better as they are right there when you pull the menu down whereas on the z3 you have to click on qucik settings tab i mean things like these is why I like Samsung phones despite touchwiz being laggy at times. Also on the text message keyboard the number buttons are at the top so you dont have to click the number button to bring numbers up. It just has more features and I am not talking about those useless things like eye scrolling and air view and the motion stuff.
4) Note 4 is better for playing games plus the larger screen gives you more space I guess due to being more powerful and better GPU, it doesn't skip a beat nor does it get hot when I play asphalt 8 for a long time, battery also drains less during gaming.
5) Note 4 feels more solid but I guess thats due to the additional weight but both phones look and feel great to hold, Z3 is easier to use due to smaller dimensions
6) Note 4 has better screen but Z3s screen is alot brighter
7) Note 4 has better camera/video recording and video sound
8) Multi tasking features and S pen ofcourse
Call me mad but despite all of this the Z3 is my main phone reasons being
Yes the note 4 does majority of things better but the Z3 still has
1) A very good camera/video recording and video sound and focuses fast
2) not as loud as the note 4 but DSEE HX really does make a difference and especially if you use the MDR-NC31EMs and sound quality is still . I don't find the Z3 as low in volume as the Z2, Z1, Z, T & S before it however Sony still could improve on the volume.
3) Call Quality and reception on the Z3 are still more than good enough
4) Battery life is excellent
some things that maybe some people do not know about or care about but I do and is a thing I have always been annoyed with samsung phones for a long time
5) you can't send messages longer than 3 pages without it turning into a MMS (sony and HTC allow you atleast 10 pages) and as someone who texts alot this is really annoying. Another thing is if you want to forward messages you can only do so to 10 people at a time (say you want to send a invite to a party or merry christmas or happy new year to people in your contacts)
6) if your in a phone call and someone sends you a video via whats app, you cannot watch the video until you end the phone call (Sony and HTC allow you to watch the video)
7) I understand this really wont apply to some people but you can listen to music and record video when your in a phone call (You can also do this on HTC phones) the music one doesn't bother me really but sometimes when I am on the phone and I see something sometimes I might want to record it and with a samsung phone u have to hang the call up first where on a htc or sony phone u can just tell the person you want to record something and to keep quiet lol).
8) The Z3 is waterproof and currently in London it has been raining alot and last year i was wearing a tracksuit bottom and top and it rained really heavily and despite my s4 being in my pocket it still got somewhat wet and that was the end of that working without a hitch, so after just splashing 630 on the note 4 i rather not take it outside in this weather unless i am going in my car. Annother example is on saturday I took my daughter to legoland for her 4th birthday and while we were there the weather was a bit miserable and it did rain at times and had I just had the note 4 with me at the time some of the pics I took I wouldn't have been able to as the phone would have got seriously wet, whereas with the Z3 no issues just continued to snap away.
9) The Z3 just feels smoother to use at times is the faster of the two to opening the main apps I use: Call log, phone book, text messaging, settings, camera, gallery/album, music player, whats app. Though scrolling around etc is faster on the note 4.
Loading dolphin browser they are the same but loading web pages and connecting to wi fi/4g the note 4 is faster.
Closing apps they are the same I have tried this several times and despite me having big hands the Z3 is easier to use one handed. Sonys ram usage management is better aswell, I don't know if its a good thing or not but the Z3 always has more ram available at any given time both phones have the same apps on them aswell.
So for those reasons right now I use the Z3 as my main phone and the Note 4 is for note taking/all the multi tasking stuff and playing games.
Its also a nice change from having Samsung as my main phone I mean I have had the Galaxy S, S2, S3, Note 2, S4 & S5. I have had the Xperia S, T, Z & Z1 too but for me they were lacking vs the Samsung at the time imo in terms of audio volume, loudspeaker volume, call volume from earpeice, camera/video quality + I found the cameras quite slow to focus and battery life so I never ended up keeping the sony phones for a long time. However Sony did address alot of these issues with the Z2 but I still found the audio volume lacking a bit and chose to go with the S5 instead as it was louder, however the z3 imo as stepped up the volume so I decided yep I am going to get it and I mean just look at the Z3 is looks stunning awesome looking phone! not that the Z2 wasn't a looker but the Z3 is more refined with the founded corners for me.
I really really think it's strange that not one person said a thing about the terrible slow keyboard on the z3... Wich has some incredible lag on it when visiting some heavier websites. Or typing long texts. I'm really on the edge of returning the z3 and getting another phone. Already when typing this message I start to get lag now. I really hate this! I hope Sony will fix it real soon. Else this was my first and also last xperia

Weak graphics performance?

Hi! I'm a bit worried about the Galaxy S6 graphics performance. I'm currently owning an iPhone 6 and I read about benchmark testings where the iPhone 6 and also the HTC One M9 got much better results for graphics intensive tasks. Maybe the S6 has just enough power for current games, but what about in a year's time? So I'm thinking about keeping my iPhone. Any thoughts?
S6 has much higher resolution screen than both of those phones. That is why it may have lower scores on the on screen bench mark portion of the tests.
Anyways benchmarks are garbage and shouldn't be cared about.

any game runs on native 2k res will run slower than your iphone on s6. but games generally run on 1080p so you will barely see any difference cuz s6's gpu can handle 1080p easyly.

That's what I found. From what I understand, multicore performance is only relevant for some special apps. Regarding graphics performance the S6 seems to be crushed by the iPhone and the HTC One M9. I don't care that the Samsung has a higher resolution. All that counts is that you have good framerates in games. The QHD is overkill anyway.

nope. like i said pretty much all games running on 1080p most. so you can just check offscreen test to check which faster. i have exynos note 4 pretty much whole games running around 60 fps.
Firstly Iphone6 is 25 % of the resolution of ss6 or even lower because it is not proper HD 720p. When you buy a suit which one is going fit better, of the shelf or custom tailored? The same is happen in IOS. The benchmarks need to be optimalised for IP even before they are accepted to the Store. The suit is custom tailored .
Secondly I am owning xperia z and most of the games works flawlessly which is 2 years old (gta and nfs which works medium setting). Furthermore most of the games will not be able to utilize full potential of the samsung S6. From the other perspective i own shield tablet which pretty much owns the benchmarks in terms of graphics performance, guess what there are games which still stutter as hell. I would prefer perform a benchmark on lollipop 5.1 because 5.0.2 is kind of s****. Look at the nexus 6 on the 5.1 is much better and faster
In regards to the HTC M9 the question is how sustainable the frame rate is going to be with the throttling , what is going to happen after 3 hours of playing games.

For gaming I have my Nintendo DS, Wii and Tablet. Honestly I don't put much importance on 'weak graphics' . As long as it loads the games that's fine.
I care more about having a fast, stable and responsive phone with a great camera. Gaming is at the very bottom of my list.

First you honestly should stop reading AppleInsider, their the epitome of fan-boyism gone wrong. If you look at those benchmarks that were posted you can clearly see that at 1080p the S6 is faster than the iPhone 6 but since the S6 uses a higher resolution it's a little slower. Now when I say a little slower, I mean insignificant and is not enough to affect your overall experience by any measure.. Software has not caught up with the hardware yet. Anything with a Qualcomm 800 or better will be able to play every game listed in the Google Play Store without a single frame drop or lag. The iPhone is a good platform for gaming and media consumption, that's about it. The fact that you can't choose your own default apps, cannot run apps in the background except for iTunes and a few GPS apps, has the worst file-management I have ever seen on any mobile OS including dumb phones that uses a proprietary Java system and horrible inner-app communication I would seriously consider jumping ship. Android, though not perfect is eons better than iOS, especially now that Android 5.11 has been released. Here's the kicker, I don't even use an Android phone, I'm rocking a BlackBerry Passport but I do have a Nexus 9 for office work and an Nvidia Shield for play.
I had an iPhone 6 Plus for about a week, I honestly tried to make it work, installed iFile to hopefully make sense of the chaos from iOS saving files under the app that created them, who does that, but it didn't help much. I tried installing OneDrive and Google Drive because I could have a terebyte of data from both of them for the same price as a single terebyte from iCloud but because what I said above about the horrible inner-app communication none of the apps except those from Microsoft and Google supported saving files directly. I had to open the clients up individually and pray that I could remember which app was used to create the file that I wanted to upload so I didn't have to spend 30 minutes going through 100 apps to find out. This of course is an exaggeration but you get the point. With my Passport all I have to do is go into my Documents folder using the fantastic built in file manager and than wham, there's my files. I can also search every file from a certain date, zip them up and upload them to a cloud storage of my choosing without having to buy another app to do so, all built in. Same thing with my Android tablet's.
I know when I install any app that I will be able to access said app through the Share function of other apps, unlike iOS's apps which uses a pre-programmed list of allowed apps to share with on a per app basis. So I never know which app can share with what, it's a crap shoot and extremely inconsistent. Does it sound like I really dislike iOS, can you blame me. I use a terminal app to keep ties on the applications I write for my clients, at any given time I could be logged in up to 8 different servers performing updates, which means compiling. With both my Passport and Nexus 9 all I have to do is start the compile job and than minimize the terminal app and continue working on other things until completion. With iOS this isn't possible, well it is but I have to keep the terminal app in the foreground because if I minimize it all of processes will be terminated iOS doesn't support full multitasking, what is this, the 90's. To add even more frustration if I have more than 3 connections going at once, even though the terminal app is in the foreground, iOS will start terminating connections. Why, 1GB of memory, yep, in 2015, simply ridiculous on the highest order. iOS's supposedly wonderful memory manegment just goes out the window when faced with such tasks. Here's a simple test you can do now on your phone, start typing up your response to me, do about a paragraph and than switch over to another app for about 5 minutes, just watch a YouTube video to pass the time, when you come back to Safari your work would have been lost, Safari has refreshed the page, why, lack of memory.
Doesn't it piss you off that you can't choose your own default apps, if it doesn't it should. Sure I can install another email client, no problem but what is the point when it isn't listed in any of the apps that I have installed, so something as simple as say, attaching a file while in another program isn't possible because only Apple's email client is ever listed. With my Passport regardless of the app I'm using I can attach a file to any app that is installed and supports the app that I'm sharing from, same thing with Android, any. Do you like Evernote, it's great because you can send files to it from almost every app in iOS, mark my words though, the second Apple releases a cloud note taking app of their own, you will no longer see Evernote listed as possibility to share to.
I can go on and on about the disdain I have for iOS but I think you get the picture. Even if the S6 turns out not to be for you I would still recommend ditching the iPhone. Apple isn't a good company anymore and is hell bent on controlling you, please get out from under their thumb. Even if you don't use the features I described above, I mean just think about what their doing, is it right, don't you think they should allow their users to decide which apps they want to use as defaults, that's just evil man.

First hours with the s7 Edge G935F

First couple of hours with the s7 edge
Got the phone today and boy do I love this thing!
Here are some notes of the first few hours with this phone.
Model:G935F
Browser: this is seriously faster then my browser on my desktop!( no joke)
Have the addblock fast app integrated and my God it is fast!
Camera: only took one pic so can't really tell yet but the focus is instant!
Performance: this is one fast phone! The apps install quickly and you you can actually use the phone will it's installing without any hiccups. The RAM is good, keeping atleast 15+ medium heavy apps open. Also see the benchmarks I did(attach)
Design: it doesn't feel any bigger than my x S6, Samsung really nails the screen to ratio on this one! It's quite slippery and do get allot of FP on it but overall a gorgeous phone!
Battery: got it with 50% left I'm down to 27% ATM. Can't really tell yet but by all the tasks I did from start my old S6 would have lost nearly 50% after setup and this did it on 17% so I'm more then happy from what I've seen so far.
SW: I actually got a force restart when trying to bring Netflix in to the edge tasker but worked after the restart, I also noticed that it some time stutters for a millisecond when typing (samsung keyboard)but nothing overly disturbing. Seems like the SW isen't there quite yet but since the phone technically isen't released yet I'll just wait and see how it turns out, it need a tune up imo and hopping for a day 1 OTA. Otherwise it's really fluid and without any serious frame drops. Really like the AOS and the edge feat.
Sound: it's louder than the S6 and there is also a built in EQ which is a good feat! I tend to get a little more width from my old s6 with Bluetooth to my speaker which is a plus.
I can also hear the voice of the person more clear with the s7 and the speaker seems a little louder from the ear grill.
Reception: seems good, have 1 stapel more than I got with my former S6 on the same place's.
Note! I did NOT close any apps when I did the benchmarks and I also ran them after each other and also direct after installing them, as you can see in sling shot I'm at a little high thermal from start but nothing serious IMO. I also tested the phone with power saving mode on with geek bench and guess what?! It is more powerfully with the PS mode on then the S6 is with it off

Yeah got mine today too and I absolutely love it. Haven't had a chance to play with the camera much. Was particularly keen on using the raw/pro mode. But coming from an LG G4 it isn't as good software wise. The LG G4 really did feel like a pro camera with easy sliders for shutter etc whereas the s7e is a bit more fiddly. Small gripe I know! Loving it so far though.

Some Questions before buying

I’m currently using a Xs Max.I want to ask how is haptics compared to iPhone.I heard that they improved in Note 10+. Also how is gaming in exynos compared to snapdragon. I play Pes 2020 a lot can anyone confirm the performance on High graphics & 60 fps setting?Any other issue I should be aware of?

I've just moved from iphone xs max to note 10 plus you will not regret it
You have the haptics menu but you can hardly feel the push
Android now is so liberating , the camera in my opinion runs rings around apple .. and the firmware is buttery smooth
I lost my faith my apple after iOS 13 and also the new mac operating system it's like apple have gone back 10 years
If you have your pictures on apple photo use Google own photos and it will if you add the software to your computer transfer them
Music whilst it wont sync with iTunes I just drag my music onto an USB c memory stick and shove it in the phone and copy it over
I've got a 512gb memory card and I have loads of music and pics on it
Go for it you wont regret it if it puts it in perspective I've been with apple since the iphone 4 and i don't regret the move one minute except iMessage but can live with that

iOS 13 made even the newest iphone less buttery smooth regularly had app failures and lock ups
The new mac software Carolina is like a bad version of windows ME
If you want to be able to make changes to the home launcher / and calendars etc on your home screen then android is the way forward I've not looked back since making the move

I had the XS Max Pro and I get more battery life from my note 10 plus 5g
Apple to me is so behind the times they have only just put on their new phones ultra wide ...
It's down to individual choice but as a life long apple user I love android
i have both and i can guarantee you that in real-life usage Samsung is way behind, they dropped the ball this year with exynos, look at what Xperia 5 achieves with smaller batteries - best optimized phone of the year

Do you have exynos model?
yes it's a power-hog whereas my backup cheap Note 7 with 4000mah lasts the entire day with heavy usage

So i have used both Android and Apple and have switched in between. My last phone was iPhone 7 Plus and have been using it since 2016. I switched to the Note 10 Plus last month after waiting to see what the new iPhone would bring. The camera layout is horrible and ios13 has had no major update apart from Dark Mode. I also had been looking up reviews and opinions for S10+ and Note10+ and eventually went for the Note due to larger battery, faster charging and that gorgeous display. My last android was the Note 4 and even that was way ahead of iPhone 7 Plus, it had a freaking QHD Amoled screen! Go for the Note 10+ you will not regret it. I have the Exynos variant and performance is smooth, games dont lag. Battery life could have been a BIT better, however it is still very good and should last you a day (morning to night) and the 25W charger helps you top up your battery during the day if needed really fast, but you won't need to. I am probably never going back to Apple again after experiencing the Note10+.

Pixel 5 - Pros, Cons, what's left in between

So, according to the new store page, in comparison to the pixel 4/xl they cut
- Soli
- Faceunlock
- Pixel Neural Core (WHAT?! Why?!)
- Tele-Lens
- Highend Chipset
- Active Edge
- QHD+ Display (from 537 ppi down to 432 ppi )
- ip68 rating (ty u/kelderic, reddit)
And they 'gave' us
+ bigger battery
+ fingerprint (why not both?!)
+ 5G
+ wide (remember Google from last year? "We don't need wide, tele is good")
- Measly +2 GB Ram, still no storage available beyond 128 GB
What do you guys think 'bout that?
Compared to the Pixel 4/xl this just feels like a downgrade, even to the Pixel 3xl it's no real upgrade. Most people who think budget will not turn to this phone and the highend-spenders will not be pleased by this. I don't see googles angle hear, however they haven't shown any good angle recently anyway. And the heck did they remove the neural core? Plus getting a weaker soc.. just madnes.
Apparently neural core made face unlock work quicker so no loss there.
About the only thing I would prefer is higher ppi but I sure don't want to spend $1000 to get it.
My next phone will be 5G so pixel 4/xl aren't an option.
If it's not enough bang for the buck then just wait for black Friday and/or opt for the 4a 5G.
Google phones have never been the best phone for everyone.
Most likely the machine learning Ai stuff is included in the snapdragon 765 so no more dedicated chip is necessary. I would not worry too much

The Samsung S20FE will be competition at the same MSRP, includes Snapdragon 865, 120hz display, 4500mah battery. Appears to be on sale for $599. Of course it isn't a clean google phone.

Good battery life remains to be seen.
I stand by my original statement, however I suppose I could have made it more clear...for a mid ranger it's fine.
For a flagship (which it isnt). It sucks.

A pure Google software experience
Fingerprint sensor is back( no more awful face unlock)

Aluminum back (well, mostly)
Cons:
That awful hole punch (that has me considering canceling my order)
Ultra wide camera replacing the telephoto
Too big

Sure, we technically don't know what the battery life will be but just knowing a little bit about phone hardware and some common sense indicates that the battery life should be pretty good.
The biggest battery drain on any phone is the screen mainly due to the screen resolution. So take the Pixel 4 XL for example. The battery life wasn't too bad but not great either. Now increase the size of the battery 10%, decrease the number of pixels by 42%(that alone is huge), decrease the overall screen area by 11%, add in a slightly more power efficient processor, remove Soli and remove face unlock and you basically have the Pixel 5. The only thing really working against the Pixel 5 in terms of battery life is the 5G which I'm going to turn off anyways. I have no concerns about the battery life of the Pixel 5.
The more interesting comparison is to the 4a. A significant price difference but both are a similar size and real world performance would be similar too.
This just leaves wireless charging, IP and maybe 90hz as the tangible differences you would notice day to day. Maybe it will feel more premium in hand too but that is hard to know right now.
I got the 4a with the intention of giving it to one of my parents with the 5 landed, I am now hesitating though as the 4a is terrific and I am not sure the 5 is £250 better.

I have only had my pixel 5 for a week and i am super impressed with the battery life. I have been getting 3 days out of it . At the moment it has 25 % left and it's used 8 hours and 26 minutes of screen use , that's using google to simply surf the net and as I am a distribution driver i use Google Maps daily, I also make multiple calls daily and use Bluetooth all day for my vans multi media unit and my zenwatch 3 all day I am 61 years old so I have had tons of phones and I have to say i think this phone stacks up with the best including the Asus rog 3

Con: Price for what is being offered. The speakers are just OK. The gap issue from production quality. Luckily I was able to get my P5 for net cost of about 461 including tax after stacking a bunch of promos, etc. Also no gap issue on mine.
I'm not an iPhone fanatic so I have nothing to say about the iPhone 12. The only phone that I currently have and would recommend is the S20FE, but not at MSRP AND if it doesn't have these touch screen issues that people are talking about. Only thing with Samsung phones is that you have to spend additional time to customize to your liking and reducing bloat. I was also pleasantly surprised with the camera qualify after making settings adjustments to reduce saturation and softening in photos.
After using mine for about a week, I am kind of regretting trading in my 4XL for one reason....the ear speaker quality. It is literally the worst sounding earpiece and is extremely quiet relative to my 4XL. I was driving on the highway yesterday and could barely hear my client on the other end. Had to plug in my wired headset. Unacceptable. I will probably send in for a new unit to see if its any better, but everyone seems to have the same comment as I.
I can settle with almost every concession Google took, and I do think the fingerprint is a big welcome back feature. I hate face unlock especially with having to wear masks. Never made sense to me. The hole punch doesnt both me.
As far as Active edge is concerned. I guess, apparently the feature isn't 'official' on the Pixel 5.

I've sold my FE for the Pixel. The screen issues are annoying albeit the last update seems to have sorted it, but I just cannot live with the Samsung nonsense like cannot delete Samsung photos app and playing a dance to get to Google Photos
It's a great phone the FE but not when you are Googled up for home and work and can't be bothered working around 2 of everything

The Pixel 5 is great. It just works out of the box. I'm enjoying mine and it has been a couple of weeks. You can debloat Samsung, but obviously that's additional steps. It's not hard, but quite frankly I just don't want to invest time with custom ROMs, adb commands, etc. Those days are long gone lol.

A bit true..but this would never happen. Htc had 1 model with 2 versions ...one with htc software and one with google only ...
