Does the V20 have hardware support for fingerprint gesture support (ie: swipe detection) like the Pixel?
Someone in XDA released an app for Fingerprint gesture but the swipe function is a software workaround that substitutes a quick tap to for a hardware detected swipe, so there's no way to determine swipe direction.

Requirements:
Marshmallow+: Android device running Marshmallow or higher with a fingerprint sensor. A fingerprint sensor is supported if the device manufacturer implemented Google's fingerprint API.
Lollipop+: Samsung Pass API is also supported. Not supported on all devices. Requirements: Samsung Device & Samsung Pass API
Only some functionality requires root. Root is needed to control extra functionality.

Nice work! But double tap registers as fast tap like 9 of 10 times (whichever delay value i use).

Does smart lock and fingerprint to unlock functions works without root?

Swipe function do not work, no matter how quick or slow tapping. There is no reaction.
Is root necessary for it to work, or is it just not supported?
In stock rom swipe is working with fingerprint.

No way found to do this without root (yet).

Root is not needed for swipe fast tap. I cannot test Huawei over here, closest thing is a Nexus 6P (Huawei made) which works. Maybe some other members can reply.
Do you get a "finger moved too fast" on your lockscreen when you do a fast tap/swipe? This is to determine whether the app works.

No, there is no message showing up.
All other functions work in your app. I tried also the functions where root is necessary, I rooted it to try out - everything works except swipe.
Why does this app require a persistent notification while Fingerprint Quick Action does not?
Great job on this vary helpful app. Works great on my stock rooted Nexus 6p 6.0.1

FQA has the option to prevent from being killed by system and it requires persistent notification. So, it's the same way.

Can anyone recommend applications, preferably free although cost is okay, that use gestures on the fingerprint sensor to create actions in Android?
The gestures would be single or multiple swipes in a direction and single and multiple taps, and my preference for actions is to turn on the flashlight, skip forward/back media and launch an application.
Other great things would be to change screen brightness up/down, launch Tasker tasks (this would make it extremely powerful) or thumb up/down the playing track.
I've seen some applications that do some of these actions but not all of them, and it seems when you employ one piece of software to handle fingerprint actions it takes ownership of all fingerprint sensor actions and won't play nice with others.
I'm sure many of you have used and loved the ability to do simple gestures with the screen off and have some customization action occur. Does anyone know if there is any app/rom/kernel that allows you to make custom gestures to launch an app with the screen off, or at least has a lot of predefined gestures with the ability to launch an app? Specifically what I am trying to do is export tasker tasks as an app, and then use the screen-off gestures to launch that task for things like turning on/off/dimming smart lights around the home. It is obviously much more convenient to draw an 'O' on the phone and have lights turn on instead of unlocking the phone and drawing on an app like Gesture Locker.
If u already export your task into an app, u can simply go to settings, on the screen off gesture theres an option "draw O" and choose ur exported app. I did this to command turning on and off my yeelight in my bedroom

Just 1 feature I need most, that is fingerprint gesture.
I see some custom ROMs here have this feature.
How can I enable this on stock ROM? Is there any magisk module for this?

Which gesture do you mean exactly?
With stock ROM there's only one fingerprint gesture available, swipe down on the fingerprint reader to drop down the notification area & quick settings.
This can be found under settings - advanced - gestures & motions - fingerprint gesture.

Exactly that feature i meant.
Other custom ROM has enriched this feature with addition gesture such as: swipe left, right, double tap, etc.
I have this feature on my old phone and very helpful.
I wonder if there is addition to stock ROM which is quite satisfying for me at this time.
