Gear S2 fails to update - Samsung Gear S2

I have just bought my S2 today, and got it connected to my phone, which was no bother. I then realised that there was an update for the actual Gear, not the app (since the app is already updated to the latest version). I go through all of the steps, downloading all of the packages, then copying them over to the Gear, Then I press the install button, saying your gear will reset etc. The Gear S2 resets and begins the update, and when it gets to 13%, it shuts down and restarts.
When pairing back up with my phone a message appears saying 'Software update failed. Visit a Samsung service centre'.
I have factory reset the Gear S2 and re-installed the Gear App on my Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge, and still having the same problems.

sorry to hear that... didnt happen to me ..
What about sending it for repair... if the factory reset didnt help, so i have no suggestion in my mind so far

Check the build number. Both mine did that bit the update actually installed anyway

Samsung Gear App - 2.2.16011842

Gear S2 Software Version - R720XXU2AOJ3

The last SW release is (R732XXU2BOL6)... I am not sure if your update succeeded..

Maybe sth is wrong with your firmware. Go to service they flash a new one and maybe this will help.

I get the same error after 13% ...any help from anyone would be appreciated

Did you solve that problem ? I 've got the same problem. But it fails after %18

Any update... vzw gear s2... update gear... registration failed

Does the problem remain unsolved?

Just tried again and it failed at 15% again. At least they are consistent.

I am having this same issue...was anyone able to resolve this??

I tried more than 20 times until it was fully downloaded. Very irritating. Many times download ended at more than 65%. Jut try again and again.

I'm still stuck at 2%. Also I just moved to Canada and they won't fix my Australian watch.... So. Stuck.
Is there a way to flash an old version of the firmware and then trying to update from there?
(Please note: I have factory reset a bazillion times, to no avail.)

I'm having the same problem. I have an SM-R732 (non cellular) running firmware version R732XXU2CPC5. I get the notification in the Gear Manager app that there is an update available, but every time I try to install it it fails at 4%. I've soft reset, factory reset, and took it to the Samsung Experience location on Washington St in NYC. They tried to do the update from a Galaxy S7 and got the same result. I really don't want to have to send this out to be fixed and be without a watch for 4-6 weeks. I'll probably just deal with it if there is no way around this.

Same problem here. Stuck at 17% and rebooting again and again...

Same problem here... it goes up to 17% and reboots...
Any thoughts?

After I updated the Samsung Gear app, I'm getting this error when I try to download any app. The app downloads, but after staying on "installing" for maybe 5 seconds, I get this error:
"Error
Installation failed. Try later. (WO:WO:-1005)"
Anyone else have the same issue or know how to fix it? I've tried reinstalling the Samsung Gear updates, but that didn't help.
Cheers!
I got the same error message after the update. Restarting the smartphone and the Gear S2 solved the problem.
I have same problem after update Samsung gear app on mobile. Samsung service suggest me to factory reset my Gear and delete Samsung gear app. But I would not to do that, cause I think can't solve the problem and need to install al every apps again.

I get the same response too. It's never happened before, but for the past few days I've been trying to download some new watch faces and have run into the same issues. Any fix suggestions out there?

That can't solve the problem for me.
resetting the watch worked for me.
Same problem, tryed now: restart phone, restart watch, delete cache of samsung gear app, light reset of the watch, factory reset of the watch , and deletiing the bluetooth pairing. nothing works....
i can nomore install aps from samsung gear store.
What i have to say is that i run Samsung gear at the moment on the Samsung Galaxy S5 with Cyanogen 13 and a manipulated build prop so that samsung gear thinks it is an HTC because it wont not run on an Samsung device with custom Rom. Does the other ones with the problem have to custom roms or manipulated build probs ?

Yeah, happens all the same for me if my Gear S2 disconnects for a period of time from my phone. You should NOT have to reset the watch, just restart it as others have indicated.
It happen to me too so I went back to the older version and won't update so I'm good

S6 won't check for updates

Ever since receiving initial marshmallow update someday in April, my phone refuses to update itself. 1) it will not check for updates no matter what I try. Pressing the "search for updates" button in the settings does absolutely nothing. It still shows last checked in april. 2) Smart Switch recognizes an update starts preparing it and when it gets the preparing to 100% it'll just disappear and show the main screen, but it wont take any user input anymore. left it like that for 4 hours, nothing happened. I closed and reopened Smart Switch, exactly the same result. Reinstalled Smart Switch, still no results. Can someone help me? I do not have the time to do a factory reset and set up everything again. Phone is not rooted or modified in any way, and never was. Is it possible to update it with odin without a full wipe? If so, can someone point me at some kind of instructions? Never had a Samsung before. Thanks in advance.

Install samsung phone info. Check which csc the phone is.
Find the firmware of the same csc in sammobile. Try to download using samsung firmware downloader, it's fast. Find the latest odin(i think 3.1x). Link the firmware in AP then flash it.

I have already downloaded the firmware, code is XEO. It's just that I don't know Odin well, and I don't want to accidentally wipe my data. Will it wipe the phone I just link the fw in AP, or will it be okay?

It won't wipe you data. However after flashing in case it stuck at bootanimation(samsung logo), you might need to do factory reset. In most cases no problem.

today was a similar situation.
I decided as follows: turn off S3, reboot phone (S7edge), turn on S3, reconnect to phone and check update for S Health from Gear Manager on phone.
Resolved
Found the problem.
Installed version was more updated of the one on the store.
Don't ask me why.
Today is came out a newer version and everything works

Random reboots after Nougat update.

Hello I have a Galaxy S7 and since the update to Android Nougat 7.0, my phone restarts randomly, it can stay an entire week without restart and it can also restart 2 days in a row. It's totally random. I have reset to the factory settings and I have reinstalled only the most important applications (facebook messenger, viber, yahoo mail) but unfortunately about ten days after reset, the problem has reappeared. What could be the cause of this problem? For info, the firmware version installed on my phone is: G930FXXU1DQBO. Also, I saw on SamMobile that the countries that received the update later, had a new version. Could the problem come from that? Is this a bug in the firmware installed on my Galaxy S7. Thank you in advance for your help.
Have the same problem, I'm on G935FXXU1DQB1.

It is still binding Once I had this problem while I was on call!
I have a thread about this, it was unusual for me too, theese random reboots.
After the third reinstall, (first one everyday rebooting, second one reinstall marshmallow, upgrade to nougat, happened the same reboots, I made again a factory reset and now no reboots and way better battery life) everything is ok for now.

Thank you for your reply I received the update in OTA. To reinstall I have to go through Odin? I can not simply reinstall the current firmware (Nougat) via Smart Swith for PC?
I have the same issue guys even if did an hard reset after nougat update. I experienced some reboots after the update (1 March) but very often in these last days. I enabled the pin code for the sim in this way we can see if it happens when don't "monitor" the phone.
I was getting random reboots at one point due to a kernel panic (something to do with Samsung's zswap implementation). It hasn't been happening for a while though. I think they probably fixed it in newer versions. I'm on DQCF currently.

I think this is a software bug. Hopefully Samsung will quickly realize and deploy a corrective update. For my part, I reported this problem by sending an error report via the application "Samsung Members".

This may be a software bug. What is your firmware version?
build NRD90M G930FXXU1DQB7 is the latest rom
with the latest samsung security update
meanwhile I left root aside, as I noted a strange thing while working under twrp that being 'unable to mount' /data map
problem occurs after filling up the memory (yes a 32gb version) and making more and more apps working (under root)
so, considering the above, might it be a physical ram problem ?
reading searching the net I noticed that many people are having this problem

No, I do not think that's what caused the problem. If the problem appeared after the Andoid Nougat update, it is that it is a software bug. I have a Galaxy S7 duos (SM-G930FD) me too and my firmware version is the G930FXXU1DQBO and I also have a problem of random restarts that persists even after a factory reset. Apperently the latest firmwares do not have this problem. It is necessary to wait for the next corrective update. Otherwise, what is the frequency of the random reboots of your phone? My phone is once a week.
there is no linearity ... can happen once a day, a week or several times in one day
sometimes it completely gets stuck and I have to wait for the battery to fully discharge before being able to reboot to a working phone ...

Have you tried restarting your phone in secure mode to see if the problem is from an application that you have installed?
Same here, I though that was Fleksy that sometimes load the phone and I had to shut it down manually (Power button + volume - for 7 sec) for a restart. Sometimes it restart itself.
Very frustrating, I'm on G930FXXU1DQB1 (German model), and when i search for update it says "up to date : DQB3 / DQA8 / DQB1."
Irritating as well !

This problem of random reboots often happens to your phone? What is the frequency of these restarts?

Galaxy S7 restarts randomly!

Hey, XDA-ers!
I got the Android Nougat 7.0 update for my Samsung Galaxy S7 SM-G930FD (DUOS) back in January if I remember correctly. And the update process went like how it normally does. But ever since I got the Nougat update, my phone restarts randomly for no reason. At first it used to restart when I click on the 'Recent Apps' button to switch between apps. When I tap on the button, the phone vibrates and restarts. The phone never over heated before this happens. During this, the phone used to restart 2-3 times a day. This went on for 2 months. Then now, the number of restarts reduced to 1-2 per day, but the problem still persists. And now, it restarts even when I don't touch the 'Recent Apps' button. So, if any of you has had a similar experience or if any of you could help me out Please share it here. It would be GREAT!
Also just one more thing- Any of you seen any DRASTIC or worse changes in battery life of your Galaxy S7 after the Android Nougat 7.0 update? Please share your thoughts here and do suggest how you solved the problem. (My battery drains so fast that I sometimes charge it twice a day. I don't even use my phone for half of the day because I'll be at school and still the battery drain is bad! )
Factory reset. Backup your data via kies and then reset it.
Change your battery
What firmware version are you running? There's at least one version of Nougat that has issues with this

Hmm... and after the factory reset with no apps installed you are still rebooting?
Why dont you try to reflash your firmware via odin.
Download it from sammobile and reflash it.

Possibly. I can vouch for it being fixed on DQCF onwards, which is newer than DQC4. The temporary fix seems to be to use as little RAM as possible(try to cut down on background apps until the next update). That firmware isn't terribly old though. I would actually agree with trying a reflash first.

I think it is also possible to reinstall the same firmware with Smart Switch from the menu "Emergency Software Recovery and Initialisation". It's like Odin but much simpler especially for beginners. As for me, I am still in DQBO and I await the update DQD7 which is beginning to be deployed in some countries. If this is not going to solve the problem, I will try to reinstall the fimware with Smart Switch. What do you think ?

If it's restarting due to the firmware bug then DQD7 will most definitely fix it. Beware of the emergency recovery though. Ive not used Smart Switch but the "initialization" part sounds like it would wipe the device, though that could fix any issues. Backup first, if you can.
