Hi,
I'm not hopeful, but does anyone know if Samsung will see sense (like they did with waterproofing and a micro sd slot) and have an FM radio capability on the S7?
So far, I understand they have dropped IR; Samsung givith, Samsung taketh away ...

Doesn't look like it:

See full technical specs.
maybe snapdragon 820 model but I dont think so.
Probably not and I can't comprehend why. For example the Galaxy A3 (2016) does have FM radio. Why can't the S6 or the S7 have it?
think exynos dont havev

Tunein is indeed a great app and I use it - but it uses data, not FM.
The recently announced LG G5 uses the same Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 chipset as the S7 so there is no technical reason why it shouldn't be there ...

I wouldn't trust pdadb's spec sheets for this.
In any case, for "Analog Radio:", they have "No information" for both links above; I'd trust gsmarena more, for the S7, they currently say "Radio To be confirmed".
Samsung Netherlands confirmed that the S7 (at least the Exynos version) doesn't have FM Radio.

Interesting to see that gsmarena state that the Sony Xperia X Performance does not have an FM radio whereas for the cheaper and slower Xperia X, it states it has "FM radio with RDS". Maybe gsmarena are just guessing this stuff too?
For FM radio, the status for this on the S7 remains at "To be confirmed" ...

Thanks
I read that (thanks, google translate!) but can't see the reference to the Exynos chipset? The guy just appears to be asking if the Galaxy S7 has FM radio and the reply to this is, sadly, "The S7 does not have an FM radio." But maybe you're right - other phones using the 820 sport FM radios ...
I think I'll give serious consideration to LG's G5 instead an S7 for my next phone:
It has a removable battery
It has IR
It has FM radio
The only thing it lacks in comparison to the S7 appears to be waterproofing which I do find useful.

Well the Netherlands (as like other countries in Europe) will get the Exynos version, so you could say that Samsung Netherlands answered about that version.

Thanks,
I assumed the European version would have the 820 chipset.
Thanks for the clarification :good:
I'm the same as you, currently using tunein on galaxy s6 and it's a massive battery drain. I read a statement from Samsung saying people who buy high end devices only use downloads or streaming, this was the reasoning behind the s4 fm radio absence. On gsmarena the s7 fm radio is yet to be announced, but I doubt it will reappear. I believe fm radio should be a feature of android devices but manufacturers seem to think on our behalf, check out Xiaomi mi5 and mi4s, that's what I'm considering.

Samsung is looking at this all wrong. FM radio should be on all phones when possible. Consider a natural disaster. A few years back when Joplin, MO was hit by a tornado cellular services was nonexistent for a while. Those antennas not destroyed were overwhelmed. One of the local radio stations at the time was campaigning phone companies to put FM on their phones.
So the S7/is actually the Samsung Hero?

I found this guy who sells S2 for a very cheap price. so it turned out to be a Korean phone. Is there a big difference?
Does the korean phone have same features, Processor and GPU?
is it low quality and fragile like Chinese phones?

Hello there, you can find out about the diferent variants of the Galaxy S2 here (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Samsung_Galaxy_S_II) you just have to scroll down and you will see "South Korean variants", and from what i understood from there they have T-DMB Tuner instead of FM Radio which shouldn't be a problem if you dont hear radio and have modifications made for the carriers, you will have to find out which carrier it is so you can see the diferences between it and the normal international S2. Hope i helped. :good:
I understand the the S6 has an FM tuner built in. Unfortunately, Verizon turns off the capability. I believe it works on Sprint though. What a bummer. I suppose Verizon just wants people to use data to listen to music.

That's disappointing if true. I would rarely use it but it would be good for emergencies.
I would use it all the time, if I could enable it.

Sorry but I dont believe the S6 has a FM tuner built in. I could not find one listed on any of the specs
Never used the one on my S4. Get Tunein app. It has all my local stations I would listen to and much more.
If it existed I would use it all the time. BUT I think that if it were built in, we would see it in the csc.
Sorry. For you and for me.
I have the sprint version. No tuner here
I don't think the Verizon variant has a FM tuner.

I also think so...
Pick up a Verizon 1st gen Moto G for $20-25 when on sale as a companion FM radio tuner.
FM Radio on Samsung GALAXY - the full answer
I looked it up and the answer is stranger then you will expect.
The answer is that the same phone may or may not have FM radio support based on who sells you the phone, meaning – some mobile providers that sell you phones "lock" the FM feature so they can make more money off you from mobile internet.
In the US – if you buy your Samsung GALAXY from a company called "Sprint" you will have FM, else – you will not.
More than that – some models don't have the chip – so you won't get FM even if you buy from "Sprint" (S4 not mini and S5 mini).
After you buy the phone you can't "open the chip" as this seem to be a "hardware lock".
In Israel (where I live) it isn't clear if the official distributor has the FM chip locked or not, and if you buy from an unofficial distributer – there is no way to know – as it can came from anywhere in the world.
Even if you have the chip enabled, the new phones may come without an FM app and the only app that support the Samsung FM chip for the new phones is "Next Radio"nextradioapp.com
The app can't be download in Israel from the play store and you need to download it in other ways (for example get the APK).
The list of Samsung (and other android phones) that have radio is on this page: nextradioapp.com/supported-devices/- but you still need the chip enabled. (you can see the new S6 phones on that page)
There are more Android phones that have FM radio that are not on that page (Ex: Sony phones).
The radio stations in the U.S. opened a site to pressure the Carriers to open up the FM chips: freeradioonmyphone.org
I think this cover the topic.
I have a Galaxy S5 but I want to have Radio FM and only the Sprint version has it.
I am spanish and live in Spain, Europe.
I have been looking on eBay or Amazon and I see I can buy the Sprint version, but I don't know if the phone bands/frequencies and the FM Radio will work in Europe.
Does anybody know?
Thanks.
the device will boot and run. wifi works great. you may be able to Sim unlock the phone for international use. i didn't read those threads
for whatever it's worth, the radio doesn't work in airplane mode but does work worth mobile data off here in the states.
but it seems to me that you would do better just buying a radio.

Many thanks. I ended up selling the S5 because of it not having radio, and the Sprint one seems impossible to know if will work here fully. I just stay with my S3 until it dies or Samsung includes a radio again in a Galaxy S flagship.
Which will never happen, seems like.
Samsung, count how many sales you are losing every year for not including a radio. I am the kind of user that likes to get the new Galaxy S every year, and stopped at the S3 for this reason. And thousands like me. Now also removed the removable battery and micro SD. Then you cry and wonder why you lose share every day only to copy Apple but not gaining Apple users because you have no social status.
Angry.
So I just purchased a brand new Galaxy S8+ It’s T-Mobile branded. Here’s where it gets interesting.....
imei.info reports a Exonys processor.
SystemInfo (for Samsung) reports a Exonys....
ADIA64 reports a Snapdragon.....
How the hell can I definitely determine which I have, without attempting to root?
Thanks!
Whats your model number. Just do a quick google search on that and you'll get the specs.
Well, it’s a 955U ......it SHOULD be a Snapdragon.
If you have a 955U, it's definitely a Snapdragon. You could try CPU-Z if you still have doubts, though.
For the record, imei.info also reports my 955W as an Exynos chip, despite me having rooted with SamPWND literally today, so it's not just you.
As far as I know, US T-Mobile only sells Snapdragon S8/S8+. You can listen to FM radio stations if you plugin your earbuds and download an app like NextRadio, etc. Also, from what I've read, Exynos S8/S8+ do not have a FM tuner.
gsmarena specs sheet mentioned FM radio for UK, it's not mention on Huawei website and in demo handset I can't find FM radio app, can anybody confirmed the presence of FM radio?
No FM radio app here also (non branded version). From what I remember my P10 didn't have FM radio hardware so probably P20 follows the same direction.
Just got email direct from Huawei and confirmed none of the model has FM radio

Hello there!! P20 Lite has got FM radio. My wife has got the unbranded version and has got FM radio app and works.
Man while I'm not a radio listener, I think FM Radio should be a must in all phones nowadays.
We live in a world when you don't know where and when ****s gonna happen. From weather disasters to wars. When cables are dead and there is no internet and TV, FM Radio could be the only way to mass spread important information / warnings / updates.
Afaik there is also warnings issued via LTE networks and probably 3G aswell but I'm not sure how many phones support it.

Hi there, by non-branded does this mean the ugly 'Huawei' logo isn't on the front? I can't find this version anywhere.
Thanks

Unbranded means it doesn't carry any Carrier branding. It still naturally has manufacturer branding.
