For the past few days, I have been getting notifications about a new OTA update available. When I read the changelog, the update says it's update 4.0, and it updates the tablet to android 6.
I've already installed android 6. Wat?

It's probably the newer build of Android 6 that fixes the wifi issue that some had with the first Android 6 update

I recently installed LineageOS version 14.1-20170403-NIGHTLY-bacon on my oneplus one about two weeks ago. My phone gave me a notification saying there is a new nightly update.
If I download the new update will it automatically install?
I'm new to rooting and installing roms so it took me almost 6 hours to figure out the terminology and I don't want to do that again
Thanks guys take care!
Lineage OS supports OTA. Just download the ROM from the update app and then it will ask you if you want to install, it will run an Openrecovery script and all by itself update. Make sure you have twrp installed.

Enrolled in the google beta program but I'm not getting the ota for my pixel 2. It's been 72 hours. I got the ota for my pixel c within minutes. Anyone know how to force the ota or something?
It appears that people on the November security patch for 8.0 are not getting the 8.1 beta OTA pushed to them. Most likely need to wait for DP2 at this point.
Hopefully the preview 2 comes out soon.
I just signed up a few minutes ago, refreshed the system update screen on my pixel 2, and the update popped right up

Did the novembver security patch require any weirdness to get? I only ask because while i'm not sure if I had that installed, I do know for sure I had all of the most current OTA updates. I got the phone from Best Buy last Thursday and there was a software update when I first booted it. I check for new software this morning and it told me I was up to date. I then proceeded to sign up for the beta program, refreshed the update page that said I was up to date, and the 8.1 update was waiting for me

Some people didn't get November update and i read somewhere that they pulled the 8.1 preview for pixel 2 , that's why I'm asking.

If it makes you feel any better I am in the same situation. 4 days no OTA. I am on the November Security patch.
Is it worth it to try flashing factory images to get back to September and then try to get the beta OTA?
I can confirm rolling back to September images does allow you to immediately get the prompt to download the 8.1 beta.
If you are impatient like me, it's worth a shot.
I will add this: Make sure your ADB and Fastboot are up to date! I ended up softbricked/stuck in the bootloader for awhile after flashing back to the September images. I finally figured out my old version fastboot was the problem. After getting the latest fastboot/adb it was a breeze.
I'm on opp6, but i did not receive any android 8.1 ota update.
And when i'm trying to using ADB to sideload it says the version of android 8.1 is older than opp6.

It's a known thing. Be patient, until today, noone was getting it. The rollout (ota around size 45 mb) has begun today.

Thanks! I got update today.
Anyone that already got the update can comment any improvements or problems you are experiencing?
I have big battery drain with Android 12
My experience with Xperia phones is that there is often a period of increased battery drain the weeks after an Android version upgrade. Sometimes, I needed a factory reset to make it go away. But, I didn't have to do that when my 5 II went from Android 10 to 11.

Nope. And after the 12 update, phone doesn't get warm when charging
Any advice to get the update on the states?
I'm super curious how to get the update, OTA has nothing and the xperia app tells me I'm updated, but I'm still on Android 11 and https://xpericheck.com/XQ-BC52/23119804 tells me it's been out for weeks. I'm in Denmark so I'm guessing it's the right package in the URL.
Feel like a noob asking but it's super weird if they stagger it so long I think

True that. Also have the XQ-BC52, and I got the update via OTA about two weeks ago, I'm from Sweden. Really nice update since it seems like all the "heating issues" is gone now Now this phone is pure pleasure!

i'm afraid you are forced to flash your update via Newflasher. Probably you got my same problem (but with 5 II): your device don't receive OTA updates at all? If is this the case, then yes, you have to update it manually. Sorry.

Hi and thanks, my 5III did get two security updates so it's able to get OTA.
Interestingly enough the xperia companion also is stuck on Android 11 it seems telling me there is no new update...mmmm I'll wait a bit before trying to flash the official version manually

I made repair fon and get A12 from xperia companion. But its like a factory reset!
so I waited until the OTA update after Android 12 and that brought my 5 III up to 12 and on that OTA version so that was easier
Cheers guys !!
No issues with Android 12. Battery seems a little better. New UI is meh. Not a big upgrade, but not bad.
I delayed updating my phone for over a year, I ve had it for 2.5 years and now got a new one and going to sell it, so need to update it. But its stuck on MIUI 12.5.0 and will not update, it keeps downloading the same incremental update over and over again, it doesnt see any other updates even though its stuck on Android 10 and 12 is available. I ve updated the updater app, it makes no difference, I downloaded the latest ROM and put it on the root of the sdcard, the "downloaded ROM" folder and on several usb sticks, it will not see the update and nor does recovery see it. It driving me mad, any ideas ? Never had this on any Android device before.
