Honor 6 brick - Honor 6, 6 Plus Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey ladies and gentlemen,
I am having a serious problem. I tried to root my Honor 6 (H60-L04). After installing Super User via TWRP my smartphone started a bootloop. After I waited a few hours it turned off and I tried to reload it for booting into the download mode (to flash a new firmware via Honor MultiTool). But it still showed me that there is an empty battery and didn't start. How can I unbrick it?
Thanks

do u have solution for this??

To install a full stock firmware follow these steps, if the phone is not booting in bootloader mode try doing this: After a loop gets complete, quickly press Vol UP button and connect the phone to PC, you'll be in bootloader mode.
Download your latest firmware and extract system.img, boot.img, recovery.img, cust.img from UPDATE.APP using Huawei Update Extractor tool.
Flash recovery first, using this command.
Code:
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
Flash all other extracted files similarly firing these commands.
Code:
fastboot flash boot boot.img
fastboot flash cust cust.img
fastboot flash system system.img
After doing this put that very UPDATE.APP from which you extracted the files in dload folder of your external SDCARD.
Switch off your phone, and press Vol UP + Vol DOWN + Power button simultaneously.
Your device will now get to the full stock firmware.

I had a similar problem with mine when updating to EMUI 4. What I did was:
- Hold Volume Down while rebooting and Connect USB. It should boot into Bootload mode.
- If you get the Error Screen, reboot the Phone.
- If it doesn't work, hold all three buttons. It should reset the phone.
This actually reset my phone and made it work again. Don't ask me why or how.

You should Unbrick with Honor Multitool. You get to still have your data intact when you do only the first step without the 3 button install. If you don't have a TWRP backup that is. Don't ever install SU or root from TWRP. Use KingRoot or Multitool

If the device is rooted then you'll get install failed when doing three button reset, hence the manual flashing is needed.
The three button reset also fails, if in anyway your system is modified.

Well, my system was modified, and after doing that Three-Button reset twice, it actually worked.
Don't ask me why, it just worked. And I'm actually glad it did haha.

Good for you then, maybe the UPDATE.APP adjusted itself.

I'm just happy that my phone is working now.

Yes, sometimes Android does things which we can't understand(or maybe we don't have enough knowledge), so its easy to just accept the outcome and enjoy..!!

Very hard brick

Hi!
Okay, this case is really weird and of course is thanks to my negligence. I'm gonna post it hoping someone can help me, or at least keep other people aware about trying stupid things lol
I tried to update to Nougat with an unofficial method (I don't consider necessary to tell what method...) and I just messed it up, badly. I'll try to give a detailed explanation:
The phone has the bootloader unlocked. After trying to update to Nougat, it got stuck when rebooting. After the unlocked bootloader warning message, the phone won't go further than that, it just stays there. If I hold and press the power button for more than 10 seconds the phone won't shut down, it will restart to get stuck again after the unlocked BL warning, making impossible to turn it off completely.
I try to enter to stock recovery by pressing vol + and power button at the same time (tried other combinations, vol - and power button & vol -, vol + and power button) but I have no luck, it just gets stuck at the same point.
I already tried extracting BOOT.img, RECOVERY.img, CUST.img and SYSTEM.img from an official update.app and flash them in that order via fastboot (yeah, I can enter to fastboot mode). The process is successful in terminal (I use Linux) but when I reboot the phone, it gets stuck again after the warning.
The only recovery that is actually working is TWRP, the one ported for the Honor 8 (flashed via fastboot), but it won't let me install any custom ROM, it just stays in "patching image unconditionally" forever, making me press and hold the power button but this won't shutdown the phone, it reboots, gets stuck and... so on *infinite loop*
Btw, when I wipe cache, dalvik and data in TWMP, the message "failed to mount /cust" with red letters appears, so it's probably a very corrupted system partition. also, It's impossible to repair the custom partition. This appears:
Repairing Custom using e2fdck...
/sbin/e2fsck -fp /devblock/mmcblk0p44 process ended with ERROR: 8
Unable to repair Custom.

Tried HiSuite from Huawei (in Windows) and it doesn't even recognize the phone.
Hope somebody could possibly give a solution, if there's any. If not, I'm afraid I have a beautiful paperweight now...
Oh yeah, one very important part: my Honor 8 is the US version (FRD-L04), and yes, I'm making sure I'm getting the current update.app for this model.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.
Hi There
you try this method.
Get a SD CARD
make a directory at the card root name dload
put your best update.app in the directory (the most older version the best)
insert into your phone 2nd sim slot
try everyway to make the 3 button combo.
hope this help
edit: you need stock recovery to do this

Yes, but since you r able to go into TWRP, can your use adb command like adb reboot bootloader than flash stock recovery image?
after that since it is keep rebooting, you can hold your volume up and down all the way to force update.
IDK if this work. but no harm to try it, since it is "very hard brick"
Edit: Fastboot erase {partition} before flash back the image maybe help

I assume you having the update.app from a L04 full firmware, not the OTA.
for the not able to repair partition like custom maybe you can erase it using fastboot erase command and fastboot flash it back
or you can fastboot erase all the known partition like system, cache, data, custom etc.... and fastboot flash back the image.
i assume your fastboot still able to access

I did it!!
I could bring it back following some of your methods. Here's how I achieved it:
-Formatted the Custom partition in fastboot.
-Flashed BOOT.img, RECOVERY.img, CUST.img and SYSTEM.img again.
-Forced the update by putting the entire firmware in the dload folder located in the sdcard, it failed at the end, but I rebooted by pressing and holding the power button.
-The phone passed beyond the point where it was getting stuck (finally!), but now it got stuck in the Honor 8 blue screen. Rebooted it again doing coldboot.
-Entered to stock recovery, wiped everything.
Then I just rebooted it and Voalá! It started all new!
Guess it was not that hard brick haha. I'll have to change the name of the topic.
A million thanks @chongns, you rock!

PLEASE HELP! Bricked Honor 8

Hi,
I was trying to flash TWRP, but now I am stuck with flashing TWRP logo after rebooting or powering the phone on.
I am unable to get to the fastboot.
STEPS I did before brick:
1. unlocked OEM via official way
2. flashed TWRP
3. after that my phone was reset however most of the apps was missing, I was trying to do factory reset once again but it failed with the message "Data partition was heavily damaged"
4. I re-locked EOM
5. brick as mentioned above
Please help, I have the phone only two weeks and I have no idea how to fix this without fastboot.
Thank you.

Sounds like you flashed the 3030 version of TWRP. Download the 3020 version and put it in your fastboot folder. Plug in the USB to PC
Hold power and volume up untill the phone reboots. While it's still off immediately change to power and volume down and hold till it goes into fastboot (bootloader)
Now fastboot flash recovery TWRP.img
With the 3020 version.
Unplug the USB and hold power and volume up until it says the phone is booting.. let go and TWRP will load.
Go to Wipe / format data / type yes
Reboot to system and your all set

So I've tried that but the phone is still booting to recovery (flashing TWRP logo) no matter what.
Basically the phone is always on now because if hold the power button (or any other combination) for a few second it will just reboot back.
I have an access only to ADB, but I am not able to boot to bootloader at all, it seems the bootloader is damaged somehow.
Also that warning about unlocked OEM doesn't have that text saying "hold volume up to boot to recovery" etc. like before brick.
Hi there,
Try using the Huawei Multi Tool with the Unbrick option : https://forum.xda-developers.com/honor-8/development/tool-huawei-multi-tool-team-mt-t3523923
Speaking from experience, this little fellow helped me recover my phone when I bricked it ON DAY ONE after failed root attempt... (Derp)
Let me know if it helped you
(Leave a thanks if it did )
EDIT : This tool is also useful if you want to get lazy whilst rooting. I use it constantly when flashing diffrent bits and pieces
Clearly follow My steps To unbrick and get normal device ::
Step 1 ::
Download the full firmware of your device.
Step 2 :
make sure that your bootloader is in unlocking state
Follow the video blindly ::: https://youtu.be/OMKDnBqbi3U?list=PL...eT9J26lkefvVkK
don't panic of mobile.
Step 3 :: done ..enjoy u did it
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
If you bricked on nougat then follow the below steps
step one :::
download the downgrade package to mm .
then extract the zip and open the update.app using HuaweiUpdateextrator in that select recovery and extract
1.now, boot your device into fastboot and flash the recovery (Optional)(try this if it said incompatible version on recovery)
2. on your sd card and make a folder "dload" . and copy the update.app which we have extracted earlier
3.the switch off the device and press all three buttons you will be reboot into recovery and done . you device will be okey

Booting to the bootloader is just a timing issue
Phone must be hooked to PC with USB
And volume up and power till it goes black
Then immediately volume down and power and Hold untill the bootloader loads

I've tried that, but I am still stuck as that tool is using fastboot as every other tool to flash .img files.
Thank you for the tip though.
Plug phone into computer with USB, then hold down power + volume down until it eventually boots into bootloader. I had the same scenario as you and that's how I got into the bootloader. You can flash either a good TWRP or the stock recovery, either one will work.

Honor 8 total brick !

Hello guys !
First of all, thank you to you all for all the help i've already found on the forum.
I've got an Honor 8, and I tried to flash it for solving battery drain.
After several attempts and almost get there, now the phone is totally bricked.
Here some useful information:
- Bootloader in unlocked
- When in fastboot mode, Fastboot recognize my device but not ADB. I tried installing several drivers but nothing
- Flashing different recovery from fastboot don't work. I mean, it works but the device don't enter in recovery mode ( stuck in Your device is booting now....)
When try to install an update.app from stock recovery, i get error, both unable to find the package and unable to verify the package content.
When first I wasable to get in TWRP, when trying flashing a rom, it alwayg gaves me error like UNABLE TO MOUNT /DATA or /CACHE.
I think I really messed up with partitions and now everything seems doesn't be able to get into the phone.
I started yesterday, still here....
I guess dozens of users encountered same problems, I've tried everythinh from the forum but nothing worked....
Someone has any idea ? Cause my girlfriend will soon kill me.....
Yeah, even with volume up and power. It stuck on boot.
I've tried the most common fix, tried several twrp and rom. Same for update from SD, tried everything, différents rom, rollback....
Nothing...

It starts in automatic update mode. When trying to connect to WI-FI and download, an error message appear, seems unable to found the update.
When trying to update from SD, several update.app has failed.
When trying to clean all data from Emui recovery mode, the first 2 attempt stops at 7%, the third stops at 99%. Every time i have tried...
I really think is a partition issues, something that don' let the firmware recognize the phone and get the update

Yeah the rollback package revives any brick. I've been through it all once and this will fix any mess so find a way to flash it.
By the way to access recovery you need to have your phone not plugged to USB (that's the bit i was missing for a long time) With your phone completely off (you can turn it off from the eRecovery (vol+ vol- power) ) hold vol+ & power and when the phone vibrates let go off the power and just hold vol+
http://www.hihonor.com/uk/support/details/index.html?DOC_ID=92131 and then flash B131 fw
http://www.hihonor.com/uk/support/details/index.html?DOC_ID=92101
if you can't get into recovery use huawei firmware extractor and get a recovery.img from one of those firmware packages and flash it via fastboot mode.

and yes important to put extracted update.app into dload folder on SD and unplug your device while doing this
if not flash stock recovery, system and so one with huawei extractor from your current running rom

Help with a bricked honor 8 FRD-L14

The issue I am having is that my honor 8 (FRD-L14) is stuck on "your device is booting now.." and it does not shut down. If I hold the power button until it shuts down then it restarts by itself and it keep doing the same thing over and over.
When it first starts and the blue screen and the logo come up the phone vibrate twice and then it displays "your device is booting now..." and it gets stuck there
Here is what I can and cant do:
I can go into fastboot and it shows that the phone is unlocked and the FRP is unlocked
I can flash TWRP from there and I can go into TWRP
When I check in TWRP for partitions I can see CUST or DATA and it shows that the INTERNAL STORAGE size is ZERO
I was able to create the system partition but I am not sure if I did it right.
the dload folder on the SD Card has the role back but the three finger thing (vol+ and vol- and power does not start the system restore from update.app) instead it gets stuck on " your device is booting now..."
I tried Huawei_Multi-Tool and I chose the "unbrick option"...I extracted system.img, boot.img, recovery.img and cust.img and the tool was able to push all images to the device but still the device does not start.
The original stock recovery is not accessible either even if I flash the stock recovery image from TWRP
Any tips on how to resolve this?
Thanks in advance guys

You said you can go into TWRP right. Just rebrand the device to L19
First format data
Then flash the rebrand.zip
Then reboot and if it doesn't boot first go into recovery and factory reset then let it boot up again.

I tried flashing the stock recovery but it does not work. I also tried the 3-buttons and it did not work either
when I go into TWRP it shows that the size of the internal storage is ZERO
damenbm said:
You said you can go into TWRP right. Just rebrand the device to L19
First format data
Then flash the rebrand.zip
Then reboot and if it doesn't boot first go into recovery and factory reset then let it boot up again.

Where can I find the rebrand.zip file?

Yes, but he tried the dload method before flashing stock recovery, and he was flashing stock recovery using twrp rather than fastboot.
Thanks but I tried dload after I flashed the stock recovery.
And I tried flashing the stock recovery using facebook and twrp and neither ways succeeded

I had the same exact issue 5 days ago.
Here's what I did to solve it
NOTE - This is FRD-L14 SPECIFIC
First, Download these files -
1) FRD-L04 Original Recoveries and Boot Image
2) FRD-04 Rollback Package from Huawei
3) FRD-L04 Official MM ROM from Huawei
4) FRD-L14 Specific Stock MM ROM Update.zip
Assuming Bootloader is unlocked
Here's what you should do
-Unzip the Recoveries and Boot image folder
-Unzip Rollback Package
-Make a folder called "dload" (without the quotes) in the root of your SD Card
-Place the Update.app from the Rollback Package in there
-Make sure you have ADB and Fastboot installed - Installer
-Boot into fastboot by Plugging in your USB Cable and Holding Power + Volume Down. This may take multiple tries and multiple reboots to get it right depending on the reboot loop.
-Once phone is in Fastboot, go into the Recoveries and Boot folder, hold Shift and right Click. Click on open Command Window Here.
-If the option says "Powershell" instead, open Command prompt manually, and cd to that directory, or change this option in your settings.
-With command prompt open, do -
Code:
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
Code:
fastboot flash recovery2 recovery2.img
Code:
fastboot flash boot boot.img
IMPORTANT - Make sure you unplug the cable from the phone and are ready to press both volume buttons at the same time after it reboots
If you dont get it the first time, hold all 3 buttons at the same time to make it reboot and go into that mode.
Code:
fastboot reboot
-Remove cable, press both Buttons at the same time
-It should go into stock recovery and start flashing the Rollback package
-Wait for it to finish, it should reboot automatically
-After it reboots, you should notice that it went back to the same state it was, so reboot into fastboot and flash recovery, recovery2, and the boot image again.
-This time, put the Update.app from the Official L04 Rom you downloaded from the Huawei website in the "dload" folder of the SDCard
-Fastboot Reboot, Remove cable, and Press buttons again. This time it will flash the Official ROM, so it will take longer.
-If it says error right at 99%, reboot, it flashed correctly but it displays an error.
-If it says error anytime before the end of flash, reboot and try again.-After it reboots, you will notice you are able to boot again. BUT, you are not able to update due to it being branded as L04, sooooo
-Place the Update.app from the 4th link (L14 Specific ROM) in the "dload" folder of SD Card
-Three button method into the recovery flash again.
-It will start to flash the L14 Specific ROM on top of the L04 one.
-After it flashes it and reboots, reboot one more time once you are inside android so it encrypts the ROM.
-(Optional) Update to Nougat, apply other updates after that (There's like 3 Updates I think)
-At this point you have a 100% Stock FRD-L14 Honor 8 but, you can also
-(Optional) Reunlock Bootloader
-Profit?

Thanks! i will give this a try since flashing the rebranding zip file that was suggested in one of the posts did not work out for me.
However, do you think that this w=method will work despite the fact that I do not have a valid DATA or CUST partitions?
Thanks again for responding to my post!!

No problem!
That shouldn't matter, this will get you to 100% stock, so all of those partitions will be reflashed.

It worked!!!
Thanks a lot!
but this is what happened:
After i flashed recovery, recovery2 and boot images, I rebooted the phone and it went straight to stock recovery and it asked me download stock firmware and stock recovery which was 1.66GB so I allowed and it downloaded it and flashed everything and did a reset and the phone booted normally.
The stock firmware that it downloaded and flashed was B122 MM.
One question though, does the flashing sequence of the recovery, recovery2 and boot matter?
Before you posted your post, I had tried flashing these three files in the following order: boot, then recovery then recovery2 but it never worked.
Also, the three images that tried to flash were extracted from the update.app from this firmware (FRD-L14C567B162_FULL) so I was not sure what was going wrong.
Thanks again for your help!! :victory::good::highfive:

It shouldn't matter, but I included it because sometimes those get corrupted like what happened to me. I'll probably be testing it out completely and making a guide. Looks like you had it better than I did though! I'm glad you got it fixed! :highfive:

Boot brick - Can't power off, can't get to erecovery or recovery after rollback

Hey guys, my Honor is in brick state. I pushed a rollback package while I was in marshmallow (but with wrong ROM, so I was trying to rollback again and retry the procedure) and the phone got stuck in Honor blue screen at loop.
It won't let me power off, it justs turns on again. All button combinations won't work apparently. I can't get to recovery or e-recovery.
I tried depleting the battery. But as soon as I connect to the charger, it powers on. If I try the button combination before putting charge, it also doesn't work.
After the first successful rollback to MM, I think the bootloader got locked.
adb and fastbook can't seem to list the device.
I can get to fastboot and rescue mode, but I don't know the procedure from there.
So, is this a unsolvable brick? Or is there anything else that can be done to save this phone?
Thanks a lot for your feedback.
use dc unlocker to flash unlock bootloader and after dc flasher

It's easy. I had a similar problem too. Just when your phone attempts to boot, hold the Volume Down button and immediately connect it to the PC (within 1-2 second). It should go into fastboot mode. Now, open Huawei Multi Tool and unlock your bootloader then use the tool to unbrick your phone, start with flashing stock recovery and then the correct firmware.

i'm getting 404 from xda for the download link though.

I flashed extracted and flashed images for B131 and B360, without luck. Stuck on the unlocked warning now: "Your device is booting now".
I can't seem to get to erecovery. Please let me know if you have any ideas.

If you're stuck on "Your device is booting now". This probably means your recovery is screwed. Don't worry, flash stock recovery and erecovery using Multi-Tool.
Then try the dload method. If the problem persists, then flash the correct TWRP then use HuRUpdater to flash the ROM you want. This will definitely fix the issue.

The recovery images from Multi-Tool servers seem to work! Thanks a lot. I was able to get to erecovery, now I'll proceed as decribed by you! :good::good::good:
Edit: dload failed at 99%, but I was able to factory reset and get to the system after all!
