Already drives me crazy. About 10% of all times when I tried to simply lock or unlock phone (without double press for camera) — camera launches with long vibration. Appeared about a week ago. Stock Android 6.0.1, latest camera app.
Derped power button. Use volume button to unlock or go to service center to get it fixed.
P.S Have the same problem. I use volume button
Remember iPhone 4 and update who enabled multitasking double pressing home button. That update made some home buttons to die faster, cuz they werent made for fast double tap.
Same for Nexus 5. This will kill your power button fast. Mine is dead too. Using dt2w and a navbar button to goto sleep.
Stop using that feature, it kill power button.

I have an HTC FUZE and I dropped it in a puddle of water and now the power button is constantly activated even though I am not touching the button. The button still clicks fine but again, the power button is always active. I cannot manually put my phone to sleep, nor can I turn it off using the power button.
My question is, could I remap the power button (long and short) to another button say the PPT button?
thanks
help anyone?
I had a similar problem with my first Fuze and had to get a refurbished replacement from AT&T. In my case the sticking power button caused constant rebooting of the phone. Probably not what you wanted to hear, but I was unable to do anything to unstick the button.
if the power button is just nt working, you can still put your phone to sleep with third paty softwares like psShutXp. But I don't think it is possible to remap it to a different hardware key afaik.

Carty..
Ok, the story is, my phone goes to sleep every 30 secs to save battery. And since I'm still very excited about it, I turn it on quite often, just to check . And the only way to turn on from sleep (as far as I know) is pressing the power button. Well, that means that button will be pressed a lot! I'm just worrying that it will soon have problems. It would be much cooler if we can touch some Android button down there, Home button for example, to turn on the phone. Do you know anyway to do that?
PS: I tried to google as well as search through out this forum, but the keywords are pretty common, so it's really hard though.
I wouldn't want the capacitive buttons activating my phone, think of all the butt-dialing
I think Widget Locker allows for any hardware button to wake up the device, so then you'd be able to distribute the fun between your volume rocker and the power button.
Widget locker does allow the use of the volume rocker to wake up the phone.
a short term fix or you might be to got o settings-->Applications-->Development-->Stay awake....
so as long as you are charging the screen will not sleep. dont forget to change the setting back if you walk away for a bit... or go to bed
Thanks guy. I think the volume button is good enough

i hate it must reach for power button to wakeup!
i like "Simply Lockscreen", it also turns on cappy with volume buttons.
give it a try
On a similar note, do you all have any app tips that will allow me to do something special with the volume button while the screen is off (maybe long press or double click, or press both volume buttons at once) that will in turn toggle silent/vibrate on and off?
Is it possible to change the power button function?
I keep pressing it by mistake when I use my phone in both landscape and portrait modes. I've had the phone for ages now and just can't hold the phone comfy without my fingers resting against the power button.
It would be nice if I could set the power button to sleep on long press like the reboot menu, and have the reboot menu on a 10second press.
Would this be possible?

I am currently running the CM12 nightlies, stock kernel. I don't know for sure when this started but it has been this way for a few months.
I have long press home (hardware button) set to turn off the screen. It only works however, after I have tapped it once since it woke the last time.
Most of the other long press actions seem to work ok with the home button.
I read about some issue with the home button and how it was waiting for a double tap, so the single tap didn't seem to work, but that does not seem to be the issue, as the fix for that (turning off the double tap function) does not fix my issue.
I have only read of two other people with this same issue, but no solutions.
At least 5 times a day I take my phone out of my pocket and the flashlight is on. I also accidentally turn it on a lot while pressing the power button. 8 have disabled every gesture in the menu, but can't figure out how to disable the flashlight from turning on when I long press the power button.
I'm rooted on the latest update. I'm willing to remove the flashlight completely if that's the only answer, but I was hoping there was a way to remap the power button long press. I've tried a few button remapping apps, but they haven't detected power button long press.

Sounds like you may have the active edge magisk module installed? That is not typical behavior for the power button. What rom are you running?

Thank you very much jmtjr278. Your reply lead me to the right direction. It was the Dark Tricks Xposed module. I had installed a few modules as soon as I got the phone, but never went through their settings, and completely forgot they were even there. Much appreciated.
