I don't think there is FAQ with them listed. Maybe you could do the searching and make one?
However I know of this kernel you could try.

Do you mean compile a kernel from source?
There are a bunch of tutorials on this, here is a very good one.

Use that thread for compiling and modifying a kernel, that is the hardest part. Once you get that part, you can start to mess with UI stuff like launcher and themes and stuff.

Looking for cifs.ko for Shield to access windows shares

Hi,
I'm trying to find a cifs module to access windows shares from the Shield with no luck so far. Does anybody know where I can find one already compiled for the latest kernel?

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2398836 <- You may want to check out the kernel thread. I wouldn't expect anyone to have it ready for a while. There are still a few bigger issues to resolve.
...I also think this thread might be a bit misleading since it's looking for and not offering the cifs.ko but whatever.

When you go to edit the first post, choose advanced editor. It lets you change it from there. I'm sure once we can get kernels building, getting a module will be swift.

GT I9515 CM 12/12.1 lollipop WIP

mod edit, links removed.
Note: Try at your own risk
Doesn't have any description about?!
Hi, can you explain this rom? Is cm12 for I9505 or I9515? What have you changed?
Yes, can you make us a description of what is it please ?
don't flash this guy is freak. this isn't i9515 rom. and cm12 isn't gonna work with stock kernel. you'll break your device
P.S. OP why don't you flash yourself?

He didn't change anything. He is just trying to lure you into flashing something useless. DO NOT FLASH IT.
Hahaha still waiting for a report
OP, I just removed your links.
You are blindly asking other people to flash something random with zero information, and then warning them that they are flashing it at their own risk??
If you want to flash a random zip file on your phone go ahead, but if you release something to the public here, it needs to have information. What is it? Where did it come from? Are you SURE it's for this device? Has ANYONE ever tested it? etc.. This is a dangerous game with very expensive devices, let's try to use some common sense here.
Thanks.

It disables the little cores and only enables them when the big cores become overloaded. On stock rom it gives extra smoothness because it use the big cores most of the time.In cm roms its enabled by default. Sorry, i forgot to explain
Great work mate. Could you please explain that init.d stuff a little - I'm on stock rom/kernel and haven't got init.d folder so I assumed it's simply not supported, but when I played with the rom in Superr's Kitchen it was saying that init.d is enebled in the kernel by default. It's a bit confusing - does the stock rom have this support by default?

You can create the init.d folder using a file browser if its missing. Im also using stock rom and it works. Im using a custom kernel, but it also works with stock kernel.
Are you sure you are missing the cluster_plug folder? Im using stock eu 6.0.1.
Its located in /sys/module/cluster_plug

I found Kernel Adiutor can emulate init.d, so it should't be a problem to execute the scripts, but anyway cluster_plug is missing. I'm on XDRom which is just debloated EU 6.0.1. I'm wondering if it's possible that debloat could actually be responsible for this

That could actually be the case as clusterplug is listed in Squid's kernel features. I guess it means it's not used in stock one

Strange yes and now i also start to doubt after flashing so many kernels and roms. Strange thing is it worked with all the kernels and roms i tried. Im now using latest coffee kernel with cluster_plug enabled and its working.

Sure, but then i saw phoenix kernel released a new msm hotplug kernel and was thinking to try to create 1 script that is compatible and work with cluster- /msm- or no hotplug at all together, instead of several scripts. Dont know if it gonna work but it can never hurt trying.

I Shall post the post_boot scripts tomorrow again since most asking for a permanent solution without launching the scripts manually after the phone booted. And thanks for confirming cluster_plug was added after flashing squid kernel. Will update the thread a little.

Perhaps you could use this tool to enable init.d on stock kernel - http://forum.xda-developers.com/and...ript-zip-init-d-enabler-stock-kernel-t3347724
you still need custom recovery though, to flash the zip

Custom Rom for Galaxy J700T ??

Are there any custom roms or stock stripped roms out>??? PLOX post links!!!!!!!!!!
I've been wondering the same thing since June. Seems like all the ROMs are geared towards the F/H/M. I've have tried installing ROMs for other variants with messi2050's kernel. The only one I got to boot was the Note 7 ROM by Allosh. But WiFi did not work.
Hmmm... Any other issues? What about that ROM allowed for you to boot and function I wonder?
If we can get a bounty going for WiFi fix on that ROM we could possibly be on to something....!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Just copy the wifi files in /system/etc from a stock firmware with a root file manager to the same folder and give it the correct permissions in the N7 rom. The real problem is getting the Camara to work.
I just want a rom with an AOSP based system UI.

My best advice for you is to deodex your factory ROM and decompile your system framework apk(s). All of the ports you see are derived the same way. This device will never see CM/RR/Lineage ported over.
Is there any custom ROM for j700t?

Why do you think this phone will never see CM/RR/Lineage? I think its possible, but we would need is a good dedicated dev that can figure out how to port or build them.

Actually it will be easy to port lineage for j700t, it only has different drivers and ram size than j700h

If you make one, I'd love to try it out. Despite the conflict that this community has had between you, you are our only dev and you are a good one.
I agree. I would LOVE to try out a good lineage port. This phone really needs a good ROM, because Touchwiz really sucks.

Heck Messi is easily the best dev we have. If you could spare some time I'd be willing to give it a shot.

I can go to git and setup the build environment, I've been following your work and aapav rather closely. I would just need your brain to help me change the ram and cache values and whatever else needs adjusted. Then once finished I could send you the files for upload.

No i meant to cherry pick other developers commits and apply it to your repo ( cherry pick ) if you don't know how to do that i can't help since the most difficult part will be to patch the kernel...

I think I know what you're explaining. Can you give me a night to refresh my memory on kernel sourcing and setting up the environment? If it's too much for me I won't waste time, I'll just tell you it's out of my league.

You should check this thread first
https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1877040
you can start a bounty thread too, i'm sure this way many developers not only me will be interested on doing it
