Slow charging, Kernel Wakelock Issue? - ONE Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello,
Recently, my opo started to charge very slowly, with original stock rom, without any root or something.
So, I rooted my opo and tried different ROMS, Kernels, Modems, Flashed everything.
I tried offical chargers, different cables, and anything you can think of, but still, my OPO charges very slowly.
This night it charged from 44% to 75% in 8 hours !
So, battery better states says this following thing:
qpnp-charger-ee156000
Someone who knows how to deal with?
Thx!

Are you using the original cable? I had the same problem with a 3m no-name cable I bought off ebay.

Try a different mains wall socket. This has worked for me in the past.

Try the usb connections are firmly connected
Also like a member suggested try a different power source and a non upa source is preffered
Check if you have not left any application or game running in the background

All of a sudden my note has become extremely slow to charge.
Tablet was off whilst charging and only managed 8% an hour. After 6 hours charging it was at 50%
What happened?
Do you have a big red x over the battery icon?

I have a feeling that the power saving mode on slows the charge down. That's the only setting I had changed recently.
Ill test tonight.
Charged overnight and battery charged less then 50%. Ive had it had on charger for hour and a half and has charged 7%. I think it was the update. Many problems for me since update, but this is the biggest one.

I had the same issue for a bit. Someone said to try disconnecting and reconnecting the usb from the power block about 4 or 5 time relatively quickly and that fixed it for them... tried it and have not had an issue since even when connected to an extension. But also make sure its firmly in.
Oh.. and do this with the note plugged into the mini end of course
I have to say that I have been very happy with the crazyondigital wall charger that was bundled with my case. I used the OEM charger for the initial charge but began using the crazyondigital charger because it's more convenient due to the fact that it's longer. It also seems to charge more qiuckly. Perhaps slow charging with the OEM charger has something to do with the USB wall wart wiring design.
I seem to have the same type of problem I had mine on charge for 2 days now I done nothing different in the way I normaly charge, I tried both having ny note off over nite and with it on both with no luck, both time my note not fully charged.
This started on Friday gone,
If this dont charge soo. I will try factory reset since thats the other option bar getting a new charger

You sould try to use the device till it dies then try to charge it again see what happens, maybe wipe battery stats if you have cwm. Also try to get one of those battery stat monitoring apps and see if its registering proper voltage and heath

Had the same problem yesterday. my note went out of energy and shut down. So, after a while I connected it with the cable to charge. And what happened? After a hole night I got only 50% -.- I was like wtf?? then I tried the galaxy s3 charger and there was a red cross on the battery icon. Then I tried the note charger, again nothing, and like the other poster said, after a few times in and out it worked again.
another one here with slow charging, this is a big problem, its so slow it means it drains when you are using the tablet when its plugged in, you should be able to use it and charge at the same time. I could understand if it didnt charge much when I was using it but to not charge at all is a real fail.
Has anyone logged this issue to samsung?
Nothing has solved this problem for me.
Taking 8 hours to charge 79% is just beyond comprehension. Can't use it plugged in as it drains anyway. I want a update asap or I'm ditching this tab.
I don't know what caused this, it was fine a few weeks after the update and suddenly crippled.

So it's not the update then? If it was fine for a few weeks and then suddenly crippled JB is not the problem.
More likely an Application is NOT properly compliant with JB and is draining battery or hogging

Nothing shows up as running and hogging the battery. It doesn't drain fast once charged. It just charges slow.

Indeed, it charges so slow it drops when you are using it plugged in, if anyone has registered their tab properly with samsung perhaps they could log a fault, I havent had chance to do this yet.
Also, has anyone tried switching back to stock to see if it resolves it?

Battery Charging Problem. Help plz

I bought Alcatel 5020 D(currently unrooted) 4 months back. Everything was fine until yesterday It was showing problems. It was showing 4% of battery when I put it on charge and after one hour it was still on 10% charge. I tried rebooting but nothing happened. I don't know whether its hardware problem or software. The battery is only 3-4 months old so it couldn't be due to battery. What should I do?
The charging is extremely slow. Overnight the charge was from 10% to 84% only

Question: are you using a wall charger? Because if not, i.e. charging off of a computer or something, then that would likely explain why. Simple fix to this scenario would be to charge directly from the wall.

[Q] Battery Drain while Charging Nexus 5

This problem was there since i bought the nexus 5 (first week of jan), but it used to happen seldom, like once a week or so. But since last 2-3 weeks, everytime i try to charge my phone, it doesn't charge and actually starts discharging and reaches 0% in some time while charging, one way i have found to solve it is to switch off the phone while charging, let it charge like that for 5 mins, and then switch back on, it gains 1% during that time, after that it charges normally.
Using original charger and USB cable that came with my nexus 5, tried using samsung charger and HTC cable with HTC charger as well as OEM charger, doesn't make a difference.
Also, since i bought the nexus 5, if the USB cable is even slightly displaced (like when picking up the phone), and phone disconnects and reconnects from charging, like the port on the phone is loose or something, this annoys me while transferring data from pc as if the phone is even slightly moved, then the Internal Storage unmounts and remounts on the pc, thus interrupting the transfer. Though this problem i have noticed is slightly higher when phone charge is on the lower side (~20%) and if i try to fiddle with the USB cable while the charge is >60%, the problem doesn't seem to be that much, though it still disconnects, but not that sensitive.
Can anyone explain what's going on?
Does the mobile display that the phone is actually charging when you have connected it to the charger??
As for your second problem, I'm sure the micro usb port of your device has become loose... Nothing you can do to fix it... May be visit a local LG centre and tell them to see if it can be fixed by opening up the device and tightening it may be?
PS: lol @ username are you Indian?

Yes, the phone says charging, battery settings says Charging (AC), but it doesn't charge, and discharges, i don't think that some app is using high cpu while charging, because my battery discharges fine before i put it on charge.
I purchased it from Play Store, so LG would fix it then too?

Are you fully stock? If so, then perform a factory reset and see whether the issue persists. If you're using a custom rom then flash the factory images and go fully stock and see whether it still occurs.
If it does, then it's surely a faulty battery we are looking at. Since you've tried using different chargers and cables, there's nothing more you can do.
Call google customer service and RMA it.

Yes, i am running stock rom with root, tried factory reset, no improvement, currently my phone is on charging with 71% charge, now i am using my phone, testing new camera app, no disconnections, but when i use the phone with low charge while charging, it disconnects and reconnects, don't know if it's hardware fault or just software, as charging too returns to normal when phone is switched off and then turned on.
Is RMA'ing the last resort? coz i am afraid that RMA might lead to some other problems, like getting a replacement with screen bleed issue or some else issue.

Yes, what you've said is very true. The replacement device might have other problems if you're unlucky.
Are you on stock kernel or have you flashed a custom kernel? If you have then flash the stock boot.img and see.
If everything else fails you can flash the factory images from Google and go completely stock and see if the problem persists.
It's upto you to decide whether you can overlook this weird battery issue or not. If you can't, then RMA is the only option left.

hmm yeah, i would need to think about it, thanks for the help.. :good:
i think i'd wait for 4.4.3 first to see if it isn't a firmware issue.
This results are from my tests.
If your current CPU operating temperature is higher than 51 degrees celsius the phone won't charge,it will stay at for example 50% .
If the temp. Is higher than 51 degrees the batt% will decrease.
If the temp. Is below 45 degrees the battery will charge but very slow.
If you're gaming it's normal.
Leave your phone to cool down for 20 minutes and it will start to charge at normal tempo,1-2% per minute at 20.degrees celsius.

In my case the battery isn't charging or it's charging BUT at 1 percent in 7-8 minutes when CPU temp. Is 51-52 celsius or above.
Sometimes when it's above 55 celsius, battery percentage is going down.
I'm charging with the original charger and cable.
I,m not using usb fast charge hack.

Yes, that's normal. It will charge if the temp is above 50*c..it will charge slowly as you are using your phone for hd gaming which takes a toll on the battery..
Fast charge just means that you can charge via your computer at AC wall charging speed...
If you charge your phone via computer and play games on it simultaneously then it's normal to discharge while charging as usb charges only at 0.5amp

This happened on my last phone. For me, it was from using a USB fast charge option on a custom kernel: reflashed the kernel and charging was back to normal; selected the option and it duplicated the problem.
So:
Are you using a stock kernel? Either way, I would try wiping caches and flashing the kernel (or another one).
Or, if you haven't, try a simulated battery pull (hold down the power, volume up and volume down buttons for ~15 seconds).

I know when I'm using my phone as a sat nav on the car dash it can get pretty toasty. When it's like that, it is on charge but the phone will still drain slowly... so on a 3 hour journey it may lose 20% battery or something. That is with an official HTC car charger so perhaps the results are a little unfair - think it's rated 1 amp.

yeah, while discharging, no matter how many times i re-insert the cable, or change the charger or the cable, it won't charge unless i switch off the phone, let it charge for some minutes and then power it on, it'll start to charge normally after that..
I'm in a similar boat. Every now and then I'll wake up with the battery being only charged to 75 or so. Since it happens sporadically it's hard to test why it may be happening. Have you found any resolution for the issue? This is using a wireless charger so a bad USB port can be ruled out.

The Nexus 5 has a charging controller by TI, that regulates the voltage and current to the battery if the battery gets hot enough lets say 50C it will stop all charging untill the battery is cooled and the charging session is re-started
The battery also has a fail-safe measure to prevent the phones battery from exploding which also does what the charging controller does, incase it fails the battery has another fail-safe mode

[Q] Battery problems

Help my phone died last night, but since I switched it back on my the battery reading has been off, sometimes it just gets stuck on a particular percent when charging but on restart it gose to the real percent, another problem is that sometimes it just leaps from a particular percent to hundred. I've tried recalibrating but the problem remains.
Note: it charges well when the device is switched off tho plus the upper back panel has been heating up

Clean battery terminals/pins with alcohol.
Kernel?
Find anyone with same BA 900 battery e.g. from Xperia J and check.

[Mi 4C] Battery problem (or maybe connector?)

I am having a problem with my MI 4C, i've had it for about 2.5 years but at the last few months my phone started breaking my USB cables and earphones (they stopped working little by little), the phone keeps shutting down on 40-50% of battery and can't turn on untill i plug it on charger, but when i put it on charger i get 60-70% of battery...
I can't even get more than 1 hour SoT, i've checked the battery health status with AIDA64 and few other programs, and it says that is in 'Good' condition. I've tried a lot of ROM's so i guess software problem is out?
I've also noticed most battery draining after i root my phone, can this be somehow connected to the battery problems?
You need to replace the battery.
We had similar issues with the percentages and they resolved after the battery was replaced.
