Whats the issue with following those instructions. You are basically flashing a completely stock ROM to your phone, just an older one that is able to be rooted...

I rooted my device using KingRoot on 5.1.1, installed NUT's dual recovery, flashed SuperSU and deleted KingRoot

Because there are still people asking how to root kitkat I hope this thread will be enough this time.
0. (optional) Make backup of DRM keys, TA partition using stock JB.
1. Unlock your bootloader.
2. Download CWM kernel for your device/KK version - http://forum.xda-developers.com/xpe...2303-cwm-based-recovery-6-0-4-6-root-t2884503
3. Flash kernel using fastboot or flashtool. (yes, flash)
4. Boot to recovery and flash SuperSu. Can be downloaded from this site.
5. Done, reboot your device.
Nothing more.
Sony RIC is disabled by default.
Additional info:
Flashing via fastboot:
open terminal in directory where the kernel is downloaded. You can rename boot_kk.img to boot.img
Connect M2 in fastboot mode (blue LED)
type:
Code:
fastboot flash boot boot.img
Disconnect device and boot.

working on my D2306 with 18.3.c.0.37
so far so sooooo good. i just rooted my xperia mexican version with the one for d2303, i am on the Brazilian kitkat ftf. i haven't seen any problem since i installed it. already running some xposed mods no crash and no random reboots. same procedure as in the first post.!! so ill suggest if you guy want to add the device for the working ones.
so by the way tank you very much.!! no this phone is much better
any questions feel free to ask and dont forget to tank the guy who posted this root option
Great job. CWM has the letters a little big but it works very good.
Now the only thing for making this cell more useful would be to swap memory from internal to external.
Thank you again
Could you please make this root available for the Xperia M2 D2306 as well? Or is the D2303 and the D2306 the same?
It worked! Thank you
I did root with 4.4.2 locked bootloader doing this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/xperia-m2/help/kitkat-root-locked-bootloader-t2927377
It works, thank you very much
Can anyone confirm of this works with M2 Aqua D2403? Thanks!

=======================
I can perfectly use this kernel on my D2306?
Hi guys I currently have a Z3 D6653 with firmware of 23.1.A.0.726 Taiwan (all original, no history of flashing)
I am so disappointed with the update cause I don't have a CLOSE ALL button and MESSAGING crashes whenever I'm on ULTRA STAMINA mode.
I want to flash my phone back to kitkat and re-update it again HOPING that I'll be able to get those 2 functions working.
Please take note that I did a factory reset after and nothing happened
So upon researching I came across XperiFirm. I found out that it has all the latest firmware. I'm planning to install Customized PH D6653 23.1.A.0.726.
Now here are my questions before I do so:
1. Is it better if I downgrade/flash my phone to kitkat first then just do a system upgrade?
2. If I choose to upgrade the latest LOLLIPOP firmware from XperiFirm, what are the chances that I'll be getting the 2 functions I want? or Is it a good idea to do so?
I'm not sure if my questions have already been asked/answered before.
It would great if you could direct me to an existing thread with such issues.
I'm a noob so please be patient! Haha
Thanks in advance for the help
uppppp please

Hello everyone! Seems we're going to get root soon on locked bootloader in lollipop, so we can backup the TA partition before unlocking. The question is, can we downgrade from MM to LP without unlocking the bootloader?
You know how google, do you? You can, download the Firmware and flash it via Flashtool.

Yes, I did google. Saw a couple of post about the Z5P, but I'm comming from motorola and they are a little bit special when it comes to downgrade, because of the bootloader. So I want to be sure because I have almost zero exprecience with sony.
Anyway, no need to be rude. Thanks!
You can downgrade with no problems bootloader locked or not as the above poster said flashtool and xperifirm is your friend. I don't have access to links atm

I'm new to this forum so please forgive me. When I bought my Z5 from Vodafone UK, it was running Lollipop 5.1.1 and ran all the apps I wanted flawlessly. Since the update to Marshmallow, ACR and NetVu ObserVer now do not, the developer of ACR cannot work around this so I need to back date the firmware. I have downloaded XperiFirm and Flashtool but can only find 32.0.A.6.200 for EE. I would have preferred the stock Vodafone firmware, but will the EE one do?
any firmware will do as long as those apps work. some branded firmwares have differnt splash screens. thats pretty much the only difference
Thanks for your reply, I'm not bothered about any splash screen but something I noticed is a file named simlock. As EE lock their phones to their network only I take it this file needs omitting?

my phone is already rooted and bootloader unlocked
here it is link
Hello, xda!
I have a Sony Xperia Z3 D6603 which has a locked bootloader and I can't unlock it. It has a newest Android (6.0.1) Marshmallow update, build 23.5.A.1.291. I really wanted to install a Custom ROM, but because I can't, I have thought of Xposed Framework. But I can't find any way to root the phone and install the recovery.
So, is there any way to root this phone?
Thank you in advance
P.S. I would appreciate if those steps can be done in Linux

Hi!
Unfortunatly, I never managed to root the phone because it broke before I even tried!
But why you can't transfer photos? Maybe I can help with that.
