Hi,
I am a newbee here. Just upgraded my 8125 to mobile 6. Everything seems to be working fine, but I have one question.
The "hard key email button" (button on upper left) does not take me to my email any longer. When i try to set it with settings>button the closest option I get is "messaging" which takes me to the screen to select which messaging to select.
I have an email box set up. How can I go direct to this? I have also looked at using Hbutton but can't seem to find a way to go direct to my email inbox.
Thanks

At the Messaging account picker screen, choose Menu->Options and uncheck "Display account picker when opening Messaging". If you are in an account it's Menu->Tools->Options.
So far the new ROM is ok. I like being able to remap my PTT. My question is about while typing either e-mail, text, or whatever the word is highlighted but for what. when i try to add a name to whoever i'm sending the message to unlike the old ROM it just highlights what i type it doesn't begin suggesting names. how do i disable this function. thanks
What is this feature? Mine does it too but it appears to be random. Any thoughts?
Try disabling "Enable Auto Correct" in your input settings
When typing the message, press the function key, then the right > key
at the right most lower corner of the keyboard (if it is a fuze). The pop up
will display, it is probably on T9, select abc, and that should stop it, if that is the problem you are having.
When in the browser, you can use the quick search key in 2 ways:
1. Tap it once and it becomes a URL search - doing autocomplete via google for the uRL you want
2. Tap it a second time and it becomes the Quick Search Box that searches your local stuff and google
The only odd behavior is going from the URL search to the Quick Search the keyboard stays on the URL keyboard so you have to hit the 123 key to get your space bar.

.... and, if you HOLD the search button, you can do voice recognition for searching and some other functions -- i.e., "call jane doe" or "email john smith", things like that. Quite cool! Not sure of all the possibilities there yet.

That doesn't work for me. Do I need to install something to enable it to accept commands? Like Voice Commander? In fact, the only thing the search button will search is the web.... whether I type it or speak it. I've enabled the search phone settings in settings/search menu. Something's screwy with my phone.

When you hold the search button down, the little "Speak Now" pop-up doesn't even appear? Or, is it there but nothing seems to work?
UPDATE: Also, it seems that only "call ..." works, I can't get "email" or "text" to work -- but then again, since you really need the keyboard for those functions, maybe that's why?

It pops up, but the only search results are from the web. It doesn't look for anything on my phone, and it never accepts commands like "call Bob."

I could not get "call (name)" to work. I tried adding the name to my Gmail contacts, but it still doesn't work. Like dc41, it dumps me to Google's web search. Any tips for this?
I also found out that you can say "dial (1-800-xxx-xxxx)" in Android, but I couldn't get that to work either.
"navigate to (place)" and "map of (place)" works for me though.
CALL (NAME)
Okay, I think I understand now...
For "call (name)" to work, you'll need to login to your Gmail account via your computer's browser, click Contacts, then Add.
If it's already in "All Contacts," but not "My Contacts," you'll need to use the "Move To My Contacts" button. I think this was my problem - anything I added in Android's phonebook didn't get moved into My Contacts in Gmail.com.
Some things are not shown in Android's browser when viewing Gmail, so do use your computer.
That's basically it.
Anyway to force the on screen keyboard to pop up?
Trying to log in to a flash game site, cursor can be put in username field but keyboard does not show...

2.3, you longpress the menu. Not sure if this helps...
edit: Nevermind, this doesnt work in the browser
I'm wondering this too, the long press on menu does not seem to work. I want to play the android version of "nethack" heh.
Hi
Signed up on Waze on my old phone without saving password or email adress :silly:
I am now changing phone so I would like to move the WazeAccount to the new phone.
I can see the userid in cleartext under "profile" in Waze but the password is hidden(*****) in the old phone
Is there any way of retrieving the hidden password. I can longpress on the password, then the keyboeard appears and the hidden text is then marked. If there was a "copy" option, I guess it would be possible to press "copy" , then go to an editor and paste the text which would be unhidden then?
If above would work, is there any keyboard on Play that has "copy" function as a key.
According to the web there should be possible to press "menu+c" to start the "copy"function on a keyboard but that doesnt work here.
Is ther any "unhide" apps/procedures like in windows for android?
Any advice?
