[Recovery] Unofficial TWRP 3.0.2-0 for ZUK Z1 - Zuk Z1 Android Development

Hey folks,
As you may have noticed, TWRP 3.0.0 is out and brings a plethora of changes.
Screens are shamelessly taken from AndroidPolice

I managed to compile TWRP for our white Chinese phones. You can grab it from the link below. Flashing a custom recovery is always risky. Make a backup of your current recovery first!
DOWNLOADS
v3.0.0-0 - RAW IMAGE
v3.0.1-0 - RAW IMAGE / FLASHABLE ZIP
v3.0.2-0 - RAW IMAGE / FLASHABLE ZIP
To flash it use Flashify, raw image flash in TWRP or enter the fastboot mode and execute the following command:
Code:
fastboot -i 0x2b4c flash recovery TWRP-3.0.2-ham.img
or simply install a ZIP in your current TWRP version.
If you want to play with it by yourself, fork the source from my GitHub and try to fix something if it's broken
https://github.com/eagleeyetom/android_device_zuk_ham
Here's the recent source:
https://github.com/omnirom/android_bootable_recovery/tree/android-6.0
I will keep this thread updated once the new releases arrive. If it's stable enough, it's worth to speak with Dees_Troy to include it as official.
Working:
- Installation
- Wiping
- Sideloading
- MTP
- Archive encryption
Not properly tested:
-USB-OTG
Credits:
Diogo Ferreira for maintaining the CM wonderfully
@MrColdbird and @JoaoPaulo for their TWRP config
Enjoy!

Flashing, wiping, sideloading works. I'm not sure about USB OTG since I don't use it.

Does usb otg works?

Why don't you try out and report back? I said that I don't use USB OTG

That sounds exciting...!! Any news so far?

Ok so I tried flashing the new nightly and it works! I don't have an otg cable sadly.

Thanks a lot eagleeyetom!
So far it's working fine.
To people who were asking: USB OTG doesn't work yet, at least with my Integral 64GB Fusion USB Type C Flash Drive.
Best regards.

Also for me OTG doesn't work yet indeed.

Can someone of you run a "mount" command in terminal emulator during device being connected via USB-OTG? In OS, not recovery.
This would help me in debugging.

In cm13 OTG doesn't work yet too. I have read that it will work may be in the unofficial build.

Yeah, I'm using it too. It's hard to test if something doesn't work Hopefully someone has it working and can grab some logs.

In an unofficial OTG, too, is not working

Hi,
First of all, thank you for your work. I flashed and it boots correctly.
Sadly, encryption is not working.

Hi,thank you for your work
Please tell me whether the option is scheduled to backup EFS?

I'm not planning to add it, as official recoveries don't have it. There are applications able to make such backups.

How Does It Work ?
This app is a simple bridge between Device And Server . It uses JSON (JavaScript Object Notation ) Parsing to parse data from server and compare it with data on the device . That is what makes it simple and fast . Then after downloading the recovery image , it gives you 2 choices either to flash image directly or store it so you can flash it later using the app . Some features will be added to the app like managing backups , flashing roms , wiping data ......
Feature's :
Download Recovery

Q & A
Q : I opened the app and it gave me a dialog saying That device is not supported
A : For some devices you need to install recovery manually as they might defer in boot loaders ....
Q : I installed recovery but my installed recovery version is still the same !
A : The app parses your last recovery log , so you need to reboot to recovery so the change's can take effect .

Great, simple and useful= perfect
I just finished installing this on my N5 and N7 2013. It worked perfectly. I was running TWRP 2.6.0 on both devices and the app recognized that and told me there was an updated version available. I ticked install, it downloaded the new version, I ticked install now, it then gave me the option to reboot to recovery so I ticked yes and it rebooted to TWRP now showing 2.6.3. This worked perfectly on both devices. Thanks for the great work it is truly appreciated.

HOW TO TAKE A RECOVERY LOG:You will be taking this log cause of some kind of issue or error message .....
Once you get an error message or have an issue, here is how to retrieve a recovery log ....
Using a PC with adb/fastboot installed on it, and if windows the correct drivers. ....
Code:
adb pull /tmp/recovery.log
This log will be in the same directory as the terminal/cmd window is cd'd into ....
Now you have the log, upload it to a pasting site or for download, and give us a link....
Thanks for sharing. I will install and test it.

Its going to have everything merged since 2.8.7.0 came out....
Which maybe alot or maybe a little, depends when I build ....
The changelog will get much better as other builds become available .... :good:
You can always have a look at the source and see what has been merged.....

Those are the variants that are supported, I cannot test it on a dual sim....
But TWRP has the dual sims as 'm7cd' so there will be no dual sim support....
I can look into this if anyone would be willing to test and such ...
Thx Josh

This has more to do with testing the 'new theme'
This maybe come the way TWRP looks when 3.0.x.x comes out ......

What do you guys think about a twrp that has 'secure erease' ??
I have been playing with it and it seem to make things better.....

It doesnt have a name. It is called Pro/Prime but its official name is just Redmi 4. Pro/Prime tags are just to distinguish it from the 2/16Gb version.
Well this lead to the development of custom roms or it's a no until the kernel source is released?

Two catastrophic bugs:
1. When backing up NAND, it always gives the error "Unable to unmount /system", altough it says the backup was succsesseful. Will this come back to bite me when I have to restore this NAND backup? Tried everything, from disabling MTP to switching from external SD to internal storage, always gives this error at the end.
2. Can't use MTP to transfer files at all in TWRP. PC simply won't recognize the device as MTP.

hi @cofface, may i humbly suggest you to add a proper tag to this thread as at the moment there is no official forum for this phone yet. with the tag in place, it will definitely benefit everyone when we do a tag search (https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/redmi-4-prime).

hi @cofface, sorry for late reply.
in your thread, scroll to the bottom of the page, and look for a link, 'EDIT TAGS'. click on that link and add in the tags.
see attachment.
you can later do tag search like this:

but i am not sure how to register the thread itself under https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/redmi-4-prime where you search through the 'Type To Find Your Device...' search box (see attachment). maybe @The Flash can help us?

TWRP 3.2.1 with working decryption

The old TWRP 3.1.1 image made by @eagleeyetom no longer works after I upgraded to Oreo. So I put in sometime and figured out how to fix that myself. Turns out it's easier than I thought!
Note I have only tested this with OmniRom 8.1, YMMV with a different android version.
Thanks the mods for moving this thread here.

Update: Fixed some missing utilities (e.g. unzip). The default configuration file is the worst!

Yes I know, I tried it to be ready for Oreo, I already switched back to 3.1.1.
It was just to pass the info.
@eagleeyetom Here are some patches

interesting, so just to make sure, you used this repository and branch?
https://github.com/omnirom/android_bootable_recovery
because I tried that, and couldn't get it to boot
will test with your patch
@oshmoun First time I tried it, it didn't work either. It boots, but it can't show anything on the screen. The screen will show the Sony logo. But if I touch the screen, the phone will vibrate.
Later I found a solution here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=65220099&postcount=398
Thanks a lot! And well done.
Will verify and report back when my region gets released.

Did you do anything regarding busybox and toybox?
EDIT: switched from toybox to busybox, twrp boots fine! thanks for the hints!
Unfortunately does not work for me, stock Sony Oreo Firmware.
