ok so i have a moto g that is fully stock and all my apps were from the playstore and i never noticed any bad lag at all. but one day, out of the blue, i wake up to my phone showing the blue m logo and then a black screen and repeat.
so i tinkered around with it and searched the internet and heres what i found out:
I can get into fastboot mode but cant use any tools except for the barcode tool otherwise the phone just goes back into its boot loop. (yes i selected with the volume up key)
the phone has no power what so ever unless its plugged in. and i dont have to press anything to start the loop, it starts on its own as soon as i plug it in. the led blinks white twice and shows the m logo for about 5 seconds then a black screen and repeats once more then it is black for about 5 minutes then its goes into the loop once more.
i cant flash the stock firmware because when i plug the phone into my computer and put it in fastboot mode, the fastboot menu pops up for a mere seconds then the screen goes black and goes into the loop again.
the phone is not damaged and worked with no problems a few days back. i have been through countless websites!
any ideas?
Hi,
Can you specify if it's a 2013 or 2014 moto X.... And I will have your thread moved to your device Q&A section.
Sounds like a stuck power button to me though.
Thanks!
OK so 15min ago my phone was working fine.
I plugged it into my computer via USB to I could copy some videos and my PC didn't detect it so I rebooted the phone to see if that would help....
From that point on, it doesn't go past the initial "Samsung" screen. Well, it sort of does... regardless of any button combinations I press while booting up it always goes into a bright write and green screen that isn't normal. It is some sort of ghosted or washed out image.
From there the only thing it responds to is a forced reboot and it loops back to this again.
I've tried every button combo available and they don't respond. I cannot get to the download menu or the recovery menu so I can't reload the ROM or the TWRP recovery.
I've never seen anything like this in over 10 years of rooting phones... and the worst part is that I wasn't making any changes, just doing a reboot.
Any ideas of the problem?
D2206. Got into a bootloop (the phone only shows the Sony and Xperia logo but ain't starting the system and just restarting forever doing it again and again). Can't get into Fastboot mode because volume buttons and power button isn't reacting at all. The only solution to force it to show some traces of life is plug him to PC or to a charging device but nothing happens except the charging lightning animation appears. And after connecting to PC, it seems like Flashtool recognize him, but nothing can be done because of the periodic 5-7 second interval disconnects.
Any solutions or tips?
You need to power off before connecting. Here's how.
I don't know if you figured this out or still need the help now, but I'm answering because it's the one thing here that I do know the answer to.
From your description, it sounds like you are trying to connect your phone to PC while the phone is still in boot loop. This will not work. You need to power it off first. Since your power and volume buttons won't respond during boot loop, you will need to use the hardware override that is provided.
Under the back panel of your phone, between the SIM2 and microSD slots, you will see a small punch-hole about 2 mm in diameter and labelled "OFF." Use a pen or precision screwdriver to gently press the off switch located inside this punch-hole for about 1 sec. Phone should switch off.
Wait about 15 sec before connecting to PC in Flash (Vol Up pressed down) or Fastboot (Vol Down pressed down) mode until the LED flashes the respective colour and then you can follow whatever instructions you are following.
Hi,
I was fixing a hard brick using this thread for MSM tool.
https://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-7-pro/help/help-device-corrupt-trusted-boot-t3946658
I couldn't see the Qualcomm QD loader appear on my device manager but went ahead and started the tool. It looked like nothing was happening so I unplugged my phone and suddenly reaslised there was a progress bar on the MSM tool.
Now when I try and switch on my phone or hold down the vulume up and down buttons I get this message flashing up after a brief boot screen
<!>
Upgrade download failed!!!
Please check your download flow is right.
accompanied with a message on my PC that the usb device isn't functioning.
Update: I just tried it again and Qualcomm QD appeared on device manager briefly before the problem returned.
Advice?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?
OK issue resolved. Think my USB port is on the blink. Still, haven't seen that error message mentioned anywhere so quite interesting...
Thanks for sharing. Did you get the phone back to a working state?
I'm having this issue as well, did you manage to get this fixed?
same problem here
any solutions?
For any other forlorn souls who come across this thread, I was experiencing essentially the same bug I think, I'm not really sure what happened (I got up to get a drink), but when I came back to my computer my OnePlus 7 Pro was stuck in a terrifying boot loop while plugged in where all I would see, all in yellow was:
<!>
Upgrade download failed!!!
Please check your download flow is right.
That would be visible for a second or so and then the phone would power cycle and display the OnePlus splash screen for less than a second then back to the yellow error message. I could not boot into recovery, fastboot, or standard.
SOLUTION:
Plugged phone into PC via USB, held down the Volume Up and Volume Down buttons and waited for it to power cycle itself. Screen stayed off, but it showed up in Device Manager under ports, and I was able to start the MsmDownloadTool and flash a new system image.
So its odd but I get this message briefly as the phone boots up, but the phone works otherwise. Do you know how to do get rid of it because running the MSM tool has not fixed the message.
same here. anyone?

You save my phone, thank you so much, this works to me.
Was watching youtube videos last night before my phone died, now I can't get it to start boot into the OS. Not sure if this is relevant but my power button had been a little finnicky- rather maybe not the power button itself because it doesn't feel stuck or anything at all but I noticed that it would take an extra second or two after pressing the power button to get into my lock screen. I never really paid attention because it only happened once in a while and I would just restart my phone and be done with it. However I can't even get into the lock screen or anything now.
After my phone died last night I plugged it in right away and came back a while later to turn it on. I tried turning it on but noticed my phone just kept rebooting. It's still repeatedly rebooting and I can only get in the fastboot menu by holding down both volume buttons when rebooting. I get the options power off- which just reboots it after a while, start - which just reboots the phone, restart boot loader- which literally takes me back to the same menu, recovery mode- just reboots and show barcode which shows the barcode at the bottom of the menu.
I've tried downloading the qualcomm driver and trying to get into EDL mode but don't see it on my pc or msmtool, i'm also not even sure if i'm trying to get into EDL mode correctly. I've tried disable Driver signature Enforcement and then redownloading the qualcomm driver but still no luck. I don't know what else I should try. Someone please help me out, i'm pissed this happened just because my phone died, about to have ptsd whenever my phone is at 5% fml.
Also after seeing the 1+ logo and powered by android on the bottom, sometimes I would see like a line of color, which I would assume is text not being rendered all the way, fade out and then the phone shuts down and reboots itself.

Which OOS build are you on? And your device is unlocked or not?
Getting into EDL mode is tricky. Power off device completely. With the device powered off, hold down volume up and volume up at the same time, keep them pressed all the time, and during that time plug into PC (phone all the time powered off). Still hold both of the buttons. By the time you plug into PC, you should be in EDL mode, BUT it only lasts about 10 seconds. I mean you have to click start in this 10 seconds time bracket, other way phone exits EDL itself. After you click start, you can release button, obviously
