Z5 dual (E6683) reboots itself once a day - Xperia Z5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello:
The Xperia Z5 is only 4 days old, and it has rebooted 3 times whe i am using: WhatsApp, movies, music... from microSd... I restored a backup with mybackup. (no root)
What can i do? A factory reset? Return it to seller inmediately?
Thanks

Could be a corrupted file on your sd or an application acting weird.
Why did you restore a backup on a new phone?
Better if you clean your sd card if it's an old one with lot of files inside.
And last you can do a factory reset with fresh install for all the applications.

Mine also z5 dual rooted

Thanks gm007:
The micro SD card was formatted within the mobile and have transferred all he had with the phone connected to PC. The card is a Samsung 64 gb Evo with lots of music and movies (mp3, FLACC, mp4, mkv ..). It has free 4 gb.
To test, I've been all day without the microSD card into the phone. I Will See if it reboots .
The other option you tell me I have not tried: Install apps from Google play instead of the backup mybackup. I did so because it is faster.
Do not you think the phone is defective?

Also had the once a day reboot, I repaired from pc companion and the issue seem to have disappeared. This is 3rd day since the reset, no reboot. I also restored most of my backup, still good, at least for now.

Yes

Ignore the troll.
I don't have the dual z5 as you can see in my signature, although I'm afraid this issue plagues all versions, mine included. Overhere it's all stock, not rooted.
For me, repairing from Sony pc companion solved it, no reboot where they occurred daily before. The repair flashes the latest fw wiping the main sdcard in the process (not the external one unless you choose so). There's a backup /restore utility in the pc companion that works fine, you can even restore selectively, however know that it will only restore app data for the apps that are already present.
In any case, let us know how it went. Good luck

The backup was of a Samsung Galaxy S4 made with MyBackup app
With this app I restored contacts, calls lists, sms... and all aplications (.apk) that i installed on the Samsung.
I will follow your instructions on the PC Companion and tell you the result.

Mine got hang sometimes and need force to off with button in sim slot

Well, after 2 days I restored using PC Companion, it has again restarted itself. There have been longer, but it happened again.
I do not know what to do.
Change of mobile?
Goodbye to Sony and Samsung again?

It might be an app. Try it without any of your apps, ie repair but don't restore for a couple of days. Then if stable, install your apps a few at a time without restoring apps from backup.
Overhere it really worked, almost a week without reboot. Also, have most of my previous apps back.

Hello:
Report that after a week of having repaired with PC Companion, and installing only 25% of apps that was installed, the phone has not yet been rebooted itself.
I installed the apps directly from the Play Store.
I will gradually installing all. There should be one that makes it reboots for some reason.
Thanks for all your help.

Also beware of disabling some of the preinstalled apps. I disabled most of them in bulk and thus I got first and only reboot since repair.

Is there a way to definitely fix this?
Should I wait for Marshmallow?

Arc S ICS Upgrade SIM Card Not Valid

Hi guys,
Fistly I want to congratulate for the awesome forum.
Well I am a noob and I do have a problem.
I've recently upgraded my Arc S with the official ICS (Thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1598072 ) using flashtool 0.7.0.0 and now I sometimes get an invalid SIM card message or SIM card no installed with the reboot option. I've also noticed that this only happens (or maybe it's just my impression) after installing an antivirus. (Happened with AVG pro - cracked and Lookout). Strangely I've compared my phone with a friends one and we do have everything the same (baseband, etc...) and It doesn't do that on his phone.
EDIT: It's not the antivirus. I've uninstalled and it's still happening.
Can you please help me?
Thanks in advance.
try a nandroid backup and then factory reset the phone.
or maybe you need to reapply the ROM-update.
Well I've restaured to factory settings but my hopes are not to high. Could it be a conflict between the carrier and the ICS firmware? It's All good for now but i doubt it's solved.

[Q] MAXX HD reboots

My MAXX HD will randomly reboot. This can happen during heavy usage, or when my phone is just sitting in my pocket. It (was) non-rooted, a large amount of apps installed, and on 9.16.6. The phone started this reboot cycle about a month and a half ago.
I performed a factory reset, and it continued it's reboot cycle. The only apps that got installed were K9 mail and Touchdown.
Any ideas what could be happening?
First thing I'd try is fix permissions.

Uninstall the apps that you've installed since this has started. Then, start reinstalling until you get it to do the same thing. Then, stop using whichever app is causing.

most people dont like to hear this fix, but in most cases the best way to fix these things for good is to flash it back to stock. a fdr just removes data and doesn't fix errors in the system.
if you are still on 9.16 and want to keep that, you will need to use the 1.21 utility.

pretty sure you need a custom recovery, i dont think stock can do it.
Well... flashing stock seems to have solved it; a full day with no reboots at this point. Updates took, too!
Thanks all.
I had the same issues, stock, rooted, did factory reset no app installed VZW tech replaced phone under warranty. Now I have phone I can't unlock and still trying to root. not much help just passing some info along

Hard Reset doesn't work/deleted apps are restored after reboot

Hello everyone,
I just joined this forum and i need some help.
I've got a very wierd problem with my samsung galaxy tab 2 7.0
Tablet: Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.0 GT-P3110 model.
Android: ver. 4.1.2
So the story behind my tablet is that my dad bought it when he working in another country, when he came back he told me that he had a broken galaxy tab 2 and he asked me to try to fix it,the problem he reported was that the tablet sometimes restarts, alot of programs have crashes and the wierdest thing is that, when I turn it off and then turn on the device (or simply restart it) the system is restored to some earlier state, this includes:
1. Apps I've deleted are still installed.
2. Widgets or app shortcuts on 'home' pages are still on their old place though I've rearranged them.
3. Same with wallpapers.
4. Same with settings.
So i tried the following:
1. Factory reset + cache clean. Even though it is supposed to be a full system wipe, it doesn't work.
2. Reinstalling a Stock ROM via ODIN. Doesn't work either and it takes about an hour to do...it says it was successful but it doesn't change anything in the tablet.
Also there is a notice in android recovery, which states:
did not match sized '/system/csc/common/system/csc/feature.xml' (no data available)
This device wasn't rooted.
So i you would ask you guys for some help, thanks.

My line of thought is that if you do root it, you can format the system partition which would more than likely fix this issue. But like I said, more than likely, there's no guarantee because it might be a hardware issue. Have you considered sending it in for repair? Since it's not rooted they would do it. If you don't care to send it in and are just trying stuff to see if you can get it working again, then rooting it wouldn't hurt anything. But that's your choice.

OK, so here's where just rooting won't help. You have two options: 1) Find the stock ROM at Samsung and have it on your SD card. Or 2) choose another ROM. Whichever you choose is up to you. You're going to have to format your system in the custom recovery, by doing this your tab is wiped of all info including the stock ROM. If you format system you won't be able to boot into your tab without flashing another ROM after. If I'm repeating stuff you know, I apologize. You'll need the ROM you choose on your external sd card, because you'll want to completely format everything (except your ext sd). If you know all this, try it out and see if it helps. If you want to learn more and the steps, PM me, I'll help as much as I can!

Hi, i'm facing the same issue here. Then I've try to root the phone but failed. Can help me too Sir?
For now it can't repaired, It,s known as emmc brickbug, find the xda forum thru Playstore emmc brickbug check. In Indonesia there is website that claim can repair it by replacing the emmc chip/internal memory, but it's not proven yet, since no body in our Galaxy Tab 2 facebook group has confirmed it. More than 15 people in the group has reported this bug, and the only way to fix it is by replacing the mainboard in Samsung Service Center. I also have replaced my wife Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 mainboard with the same case. In Indonesia the cost is about US$100

[Q] Apps on the SD card are gone (but I can still open them)

Ok, so I unlocked and rooted my D2212 following the instructions on this thread, and now when I reboot my phone all the shortcuts (or icons) to the apps installed on the SD card disappear. I can still open and use them normally using Play Store or Link2SD, but I would rather not have to go through that everytime I wanted to open some app. Usually I have to keep on rebooting until they show up again (couldn't notice any pattern), but now it seems that no matter how many times I reboot, they just won't come back.
Does anyone have any ideia on what is the problem/how to fix it?

Lost SIM signal again! Please help!

yesterday I got it happened again: one of my sim cards suddenly lost signal. completely. and since then it keeps happening so randomly. please help!
im currently on oreo 41.3.A.2.75, BL unlocked, kernel packed by serajr's tool using ta_poc method with my own original TA, magisk installed, systemlessly xposed. i got it all working fine. until this issue happened.
i've also tried different ways: reflash, wipe data completely including sdcard, switch to DRMfix method, remove app by app, remove xposed... even switching SIM slots.... no luck so far.
about the issue, it just happens randomly without any clue. one of my SIM card just disappears. sometimes this one, sometimes the other. until now the only way is restart and pray it won't happen again.

it will, unfortunately. i tried almost everything except uninstall magisk, lose root and restore TA & stock image. maybe it will fix the problem but whats the point if we no longer have root right?
back to nougat it was running flawlessly so i have a doubt that it has something to do with the combination of oreo + magisk + ta_poc method but i have no idea.
in ta_poc method i see it executes something like ua_modem_switcher. does it has something to do with modem?
@serajr you mind having a look pls. sorry to bother you the master but im running out of hope...

Yes, removing magisk will lead to loose root access. But we can keep SONY features with kernel and TA.
The idea is :
-trying running stock OREO without root
-then adding custorm kernel with or without TA (original or drm_fix)
-at least adding magisk
I guess we need to try each step for a while
Maybe Serajr will have an idea, on my side i will try these steps and report...
highly appreciate that. i will do some more testings on my side too. the point is, although i know it will happen eventually but it happens so unpredictably its not easy to reproduce.
it may sound odd but you're here so i can at least hope it is just a software problem not hardware.
I was never be able to get my xz working with magisk 15 or 16. Always get the sim not recognized problem, maybe yours is magisk related.

I did that, many times. clearing cache and dalvik seems do the trick. but it actually doesn't. it will work for a few days and the issue will happen again. unfortunately.
by the way I spent some times paying high attention to the screen just to wait for it to happen. It looks like the moment when it happens, SystemUI (or Home Launcher I dont know) is terminated (stopped) then I am brought back to lock screen and at that moment, one of my SIM gone. So to me it looks like a service (or an app) is terminated and isn't restarted properly?
have you tried using stock rom and see if the problem persists?

@Pandemic hmmm im not saying i dont believe but how do you explain it runs just fine for days after restart? usually 2 3 days then it happens.
and like i said the moment when it happens it looks like the whole systemui and running apps get force stopped.
lets say im playing a game then it becomes a bit laggy like its running out of memory then everything just closed then im brought back to lock screen and one of the signal indicator on status bar disappears.
do you happen to know any command that can restart the modem / cell / signal service? or any services related? just wanna try to manually execute it see if it fixes it.
also wanna mention again that im using ta_poc method for the drm sh!ts and it does have something like ua_modem_switcher executed. no idea whether it could be related
Hy guys, juste a quick update, my phone was working fine until 2/3 days. I've removed magisk but problem still happening, even clearing cache and dalvik didn't fixed it. My guess is, it could it be app related or crash due to RAM to high (my ram usage average is about 2.5 Go/day)...
Hi guys,
I have the same issue on a Note 4 (sm-n910f)....
I have been flashing roms in a long time and this is the first time it happens to me.
For me, the phone shows some lag, it auto restarts and the signal is lost. I can get it back by clearing delvik and cache, but this will happen at least twice a day.
I flashed stock and the problem goes away, does not happen even once on stock. So this tells me its not a hardware issue (i was so close in thinking its a motherboard issue)...
From reading various threads on this, i get to the conclusion that it is not device specific.
I have flashed half a dozen roms and only stock eliminates the issue. I stayed on stock for 3 days no issue, then reflashed lineage 15.1 and the problem is back. The really weird part is that this happened suddenly, not after a new flash or any operation on the phone.
Anyone figured this out?

Adding some additional info from my experience:
- Tried flashing latest BL and CP files (using odin) without any luck
- Tried various 15.1 roms as my device is not officially supported by lineage, again no luck

yesterday I got it happened again: one of my sim cards suddenly lost signal. completely. and since then it keeps happening so randomly. please help!
im currently on oreo 41.3.A.2.75, BL unlocked, kernel packed by serajr's tool using ta_poc method with my own original TA, magisk installed, systemlessly xposed. i got it all working fine. until this issue happened.
i've also tried different ways: reflash, wipe data completely including sdcard, switch to DRMfix method, remove app by app, remove xposed... even switching SIM slots.... no luck so far.
about the issue, it just happens randomly without any clue. one of my SIM card just disappears. sometimes this one, sometimes the other. until now the only way is restart and pray it won't happen again.
please help! please!
